    I have natural level 5-6 hair. I had my hair in a balayage/ombré style and wanted the blonde to compliment/go with my natural hair color. I used the Brass Off Purple shampoo twice a week for about 6-7 months and my hair still looked great! I got it done again only because I wanted more blonde pieces and when my stylist saw it she couldn’t believe how well it grew out. I told her I followed all the blonde hair rules I know (thanks to her and you)! lol

    I have been coloring my hair at home for 20 plus years, always, always pulling red and brassy tones and I personally cannot stand any red in my hair. There's nothing about gold, red and brassy tones that I like, and that's all I pull. (Red and gold tones are beautiful, just not for me) Every once in awhile I went to a salon and I would tell the stylist "I'm going to pull red you've got to bleach my hair or whatever it is you have to do. I felt like they were looking right through me as if they didn't understand what I was saying because I always left the salon with the red and brassy tones. I knew there was a way to do it, I knew it and then I found you! You're amazing! No one has ever explained it the way you explain it and I am now brass free doing it myself. Thank you! I'm actually working on it right now. It has takin me a few extra steps but I believe I have found the color that I have always wanted and I have you to thank. I haven't tried it yet but I believe it's the one (6na + 8na)...🙏

    • @marissa2505
      @marissa2505 5 років тому

      Maia Vlogs you need to lift your hair again for it to be lighter but until then, a blue shampoo is what you need to help cancel out some of those brassy orange tones because blue cancels out orange & purple cancels out yellow so purple shampoo is only going to cancel out any yellow in your hair and not orange, your purple shampoo basically isn’t helping you until you lighten your hair again

    Great video! Can you do a video explaining the difference between Blue and Purple shampoo? I know purple shampoo is to tone out yellow and blue is to tone out brassy, orange tones but many people don't understand this. Great references for the video would be Matrix's Brass Off and So Silver shampoo.

      Priscilla Nieto am a level 5 w Auburn undertones, but I am a level 9 ash blonde and I love it, but it’s a bit of work. The purple shampoo is great for the yellow tone (it’s across the color wheel). I however, don’t really have yellow as much as orange brassy. Whereas blue cancels a more orange tone and is more ashy. I am in love with the Fanola no orange. Makes my brassy tones ashy in between regular re-toning about every 4 weeks. So, blue for orange, purple for yellow. 😄.

      Maia Vlogs (Hi, I also do hair) You need to lift your hair again for it to be lighter yellow tones but until then, a blue shampoo is what you need to help cancel out some of those brassy orange tones because blue cancels out orange & purple cancels out yellow so purple shampoo is only going to cancel out any yellow in your hair and not orange it’s basically not going to help you until you lighten your hair again /: if you’re not lightening your hair any time soon you can TRY to tone your hair w/ your purple shampoo on dry hair, id let it sit (depending on how porous (aka damaged) your hair is) for 25 minutes to even an hour. My favorite purple shampoo is KristinEss (it’s from target in a peach colored bottle) but since it is purple shampoo it can be drying so use a deep conditioner after and let that sit 5-10 minutes OR just let your regular conditioner sit longer. Hope this helps😊

      Yeah, she addresses that at the end of the video, she says that there's nothing wrong with brassy or orange tone hair if it's the color you're wanting. I think orange dyed hair looks really good on some people too, but my hair naturally fades to copper tones as it grows out and it sadly looks gross on me so I tone it. I think it's a matter of cool or warm tone skin

    What do you suggest for brunette hair with blonde highlights? I get my roots touched up every 6-8 weeks to cover grays and balayage a couple of times a year. I have tried the blue shampoos that are targeted for removing brass from brunette hair but it always leaves my highlights with a teal tinge! Not a good look! Should I just stick to purple shampoos? Will that help take the brass out of my darker roots? Thanks! Love the education I get from your videos!

    So….. I have have been coloring my hair between a 4~5 dark brown to cover savage sparklers which have been progressing since I was in my early 20s. I happen to be an ICU nurse and very much not a cosmetologist, and I also apparently just lost my mind and decided in order to remove some of the dark buildup that I would use color oops in my hair. Which by the way is like a 2b underlying curl, coarse texture. I do use incredibly high-quality hair products which I think is the only thing that has kept my hair on my head at this point however I am left with a very pretty orange copper on the top, not what I was going for though and some in the midst where a lot of the die has collected little bit darker and now what I think I’m going to do is take what I have on hand which is a ton of different punky color and dyes and all types of crazy hair colors and I’m going to mix a medium Brown gloss with a mauve color paint by Wella. Does this sound like a horrible idea?

    Thanks for the tips on brassy hair, however I really need to know about HOW to match your natural hair color. I was heavy blond for years, decided a few years ago to go back to my natural color which is what stylist call a dark blond and it DID NOT have red tones. I do have a lot of gray now because I'm my fifties but still trying to look as young as possible. So, when I get my hair colored, it has red tones. It looks red to me. I hate it!! If I can't get it right, I may as well go blond again. Should I use an Ashe color and risk GREEN? Should I go with the palest shade of light Ashe or neutral brown? PLEASE, PLEASE give me some advice. I know it would be hard to because you don't know me and can't see my hair but I'm asking your professional opinion,or anyones opinion who is a professional stylist. I'm desperate 💜💜💜

    Please tell me what to do in case scenario #5? That's me that you're describing. Here where I live we don't seem to have experienced enough coiffeurs that understand fully what we want from a balayage. It's always a disaster. Long story short, I went for a balayage a month ago and wanted some blended with the root (on my natural ashy brown hair) highlights in the frontal part as I started having gray hair. I ended up with colored roots (which now seem more golden brown than they should) and of course, to top it off - a brassy look from start to finish after just the first wash. (I use a purple shampoo from Kerastase, and even bought a purple mask from Lakme). Sorry for that long intro! I'd appreciate your answer! All best!

    I have the Not Your Mother's Blonde Moment hair shampoo which seems to be working really good! I just ordered the blue matrix shampoo and I'm hoping that'll keep my hair from getting brassy. (Just got my balayage done last week, she told me my toner should stay in for about the first four weeks so I'm hoping it'll be fine till I get my blue shampoo!) -great video btw ! 💓

    Hair is kinda course eight now. Doing at home bleaching. Hair is short but is still a little damaged. Tried every bleach and lightening kit and can't get the mid to bottom rips blonde enough. Its now a light brown but it just won't bleach. The roots and top of head is a level 9. Not sure what else to do but I dont want it to fall out. Taking a break now

    I've watched many videos on bleaching/toning. What you ladies don't explain is skin tones! I had my colors done and I'm a Summer, so I cannot use ash or any warm colors as it makes me look sick, you have an Olive complexion so your ashy hair looks great and you can wear dark colors. Please explain this before giving advice! Thanks for the video.

      Dont wash your hair after toning it for 48 hours to a week if you can stand it that long. Also could be not letting the toner stay on long enough the first time. Use a shade lighter than the toner your want so say you want your color to be a level 7 blonde use a level 8 instead and leaving it on longer helps to develop longer and deposit more. Toners usually just coat the hair. Like u putting on a coat. It's on the out side more you wash the coat comes off. Especially if you just leave the toner for a short time. If your hair is pre lightened with lightner (bleach) it will always be there no matter how dark of a toner u use unless it under a level 4 then might not wash out much at all. All semi and toner wash of the hair eventually just exposing the bleached or high color#/ level lifted exposing only the what the peroxide lifted the color out of the you natural color. When you pre light with bleach you can reduce the brassy returning back faster if you lift the color of highlights past the brass color so when the toner starts to fad it wont look brassy. It cause your pre lights are not light enough before you place the toner. Also not toning long enough processing time. If does wash also just tone again deposit on that's 10 volume or less mixed with toner and reapply. Use less shampoo also helps you dont need a car wash or your colored hair. Color treated shampoos help but still less is more. Cooler water more conditioning and also deep condition once a week meaning leave any conditioner on hair for more than 39 minutes to and hour wrap hot towels or bag it and heat up with dryer. Let completely cool down then rinse with extremely cold water.

I have really dark hair, and still want that chocolatey brown. Would the better option be to use this blue shampoo/toner or to redye my hair to a brown myself. Ella Valentine I have very very light blonde and have tried sooo many purple shampoos. A lot of them do leave a purple cast or grey cast if left on too long. However you can definitely mix it with regular shampoo to dilute it. To this day the ONLY two purple shampoos I’ve ever used that didn’t leave a purple cast were ColorProof signature blonde violet shampoo and Drybar Blone Ale brightening shampoo. My favorite is definitely the color proof. It smells like heaven and leaves my hair so silky and shiny. It will not tint your hair purple. It just cuts the brass like it’s supposed to.
