  • I used a heat reducing film to tinted the windows on my house to help keep the house cool in the summer, lower UV rays, lower my energy bill during sunny days and to have more privacy from my neighbors in areas I didn't want blinds.

    I was told not to do this on the inside if the window has double or tripple glass, since the temperature difference will crack the glass eventually. Just something to check before you do it.

      Depending on the film. This cheap Amazon film will hurt the windows. Only use a high quality metal or ceramic film.

      Totally false as long as you use the proper film. Yes, it is true that film can cause glass to crack from thermal fracture but that is only if you install the wrong film to windows or have factors such as shading. You should never install car film on your home windows this is why I recommend using a professional. They will use their knowledge to install proper film and comes with a warranty not DIY.

    You could use a clear ceramic tint as well. People do on their windshields so it’s doesn’t darken the window just reflect the heat/ UV rays.

    • @dylan-nguyen
      @dylan-nguyen 2 роки тому +6

      Regular tinted or carbon tint doesn’t even reflect heat. Maybe 10% at most with a 5% limo tint.
      A 70% (aka clear) ceramic blocks 85% heat 🙂
      You can’t tell the difference. I have it on my windshield and if I roll down a window to compare it doesn’t even look tinted.
      But it’s like 2-3x the cost of regular tint.

The problem is with this mirror film stuff at night. When you have lights on inside it becomes an inside mirror you can’t see outside, but everyone on the outside looking in can see you literally are you someone to be having your face pressed against the glass and you would not know it’s there

      The fan in the hole in the roof causes a negative pressure causing the air to flow through the soffit removing hot air from your attic, which makes your ac need to run less to keep the house cool. Lower energy cost less maintenance to your condenser and it didn't cost much to do...
      The tint is used along side blinds. Your douboe paned windows only have an R value of like 4 so heat and cold will pass through easily compared to insulated walls, even tint raising r value by 1 or 2 can have a decent impact of energy efficiency.
