  • Picked up this adapter to allow me to use Micro SDHC cards in my Compact Flash devices.
    Works perfect in my old Nikon D70, as well as my CF card reader and an old digital signage media player.
    Any one that has priced out CF cards knows how much more they cost than microSD, so this is a no brainier. Puts new life into my old Nikon D70 camera as my CF reader on my computer is shot.

    Your desk, D70, latitude e6410, pure perfection. Install the sreala curve in that D70 and you will be amazed. You can find it in the waybackmachine

    That's cool! I have a bunch of CF cards in different sizes, I collect vintage digital cameras, so I need different sizes and types, but the thing I keep running into is I run out of storage room, I think Ill order me one and see how it does on my vintage gear!

    I just need to know. If i had 2 1tb sd cards. It would read it as 1 drive on a computer as a 2tb? Or show up as 2 separate 1TBs? And also if im able to format it to MRB? I have a PS3 that has this slot. And i myt be able to use it to have extra expansion. I believe i have to format the cards to exfat. And have it set to MRB.

    Hi. Thanks for posting this.
    What model camera was your Nikon?? Ive only just got into photography and just bought the d300 second hand.. would you know if this type adapter work on my model and what would be max micro sd card size? Is it plug an play or do I have to change any settings?
    Can you also recommend a usb cable for it as the camera came without one.
    Thanks again and apologies for resurrecting an old thread. 👍👍👍

      I use a 32 gig micro ad card in it. No problem. I have an old Nikon d6. This was the first dslr they made. A USB cable is universal. That is what the U means. Universal serial bus. My camera uses a mini USB and I am sure yours probably uses the same size. As far as the adapter goes, I have used it with the camera but that was not the intended use. I use it with a video playback device. When you see my videos I use when testing tvs and vcrs of scenery, or playing on the tv in the background shots ect. Those shots are playing on the dedicated video playback box that plays into a modulator that sends the signal on channel 5 so I can work with analog tv and video gear as there are no more analog broadcast signals.

    Do you know if the D70 any limitations on how big your memory card can be? I thought that some of the older cameras had to have firmware updates to read/write to cards that were bigger than what was in existence when they were made.

      +morrisonAV You are correct, some SD based cameras had limitations.You needed a device that supported SDHC for example to support the high capacity. I don't know if that was ever an issue for CF devices though, as compact flash had a dedicated controller on board, and they behave more like IDE devices. This adapter has circuitry on board to handle the SD card, and it more than likely is what allows the large card.

    My Olympus uses weird flash cards too, I have to use an adaptor. Are you able to transfer to/from the Nikon via fire wire or USB to the chip? I like to leave the chip in the cam. Looks like it wrks OK with higher capacity too. Aquarium or fireplace without the mess or expense, lol. My wify wanted one of those fake fireplaces, I told her to load up one one the flatscreen. Don

      +umajunkcollector Fake firelaces. Heck we have a channel on TV that just shows the fireplace every day, 24 hours a day all winter long.Years ago I sold a DVD that I produced, it was my first commercial release, and it was an aquarium video, shot about 17 years ago now, at the Vancouver aquarium. It was a 2 feature DVD, aquariuim, and fireplace. Sold several hundred copies on DVD over the course of a few years on Ebay.This was before bluray, or HDTV. Was a SD DVD only, but it was nice.This was also before youtube. My aquarium is up on my channel now.A fake fireplace just a screen set into an insert would look good. TV stations have done this on their sets.Yes I can leave the card in the camera and access it by USB by just plugging the camera into the computer. If I plug the camera into my Canon printer it will print top quality 4x6 prints too as the camera, and my printer both have PictBridge.That is something that is very convenient on that camera. No farting around with photoshop and resizing ect.

    Is that a 2.1 megapixel camera?

    • @cogsinister100
      @cogsinister100 9 років тому

      +killmore75 I have a far older Nikon DSLR ( a D1X ) and that is 5mp so that newer camera will be more than that i think.

      +Neil Robinson Its a 6 megapixel, but saying that it still blows the doors off my daughters 14MP point and shoot Nikon.

      +killmore75 Which the Nikon. No it's a 6.The video camera I shot this on is just a cheap Sony CX220. I have a much better 4K camera for my more serious shooting.

      Correct the lens plays one of the biggest factors in image quality.
      I shoot on a Sony, an my good lenses are Carl zeiss. This is why my 6mp slr looks better than my daughters point an shoot Nixon. Pixel count is only important for cropping. Lower pixel count sensors have larger pixels and this gather more light for increased sensitivity. Look at Sony cameras designed for motion pictures. The pixel counts are very low, 14 megapixel but these are huge super 35 an full frame.

      @12voltvids  9 років тому

      +morrisonAV Well I put a 32 gig card in it, and it saw it no problem.The display showed 16.1K pictures remaining.So yes it does see cards larger than 4 gigs.
