Ares god of war(weapons and explosives included) They're loud, angry, good at beating and blowing shit up and has been kidnapped, but rescued by their friends
i think Bakugo is Hephaestus, the fire god. He and Zeus were known for not getting along well. There's also the theory that he gets sent back in time to become the second wielder of One For All, before passing it on to some guy who vaguely resembles Red Riot, which parallels Hephaestus giving his own power to mortals.
If you mean the God of War Kratos, he is largely fictional so not a part of actual mythology. However a god named Cratos does exist in mythology, the god of strength. He is a brother of Nike, who is the goddess of victory, Bia (goddess of force) and Zelus (zeal). Realistically, Kacchan is a culmination of all four of them. His name literally means victory, he is strong af and forceful, and zeal meaning "great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective." (chasing for number one) it does fit if he is supposed to be all four. The Cratos of real greek mythology is brutal and merciless (least has that in common with video game Kratos) however he is also an advocate for Zeus. The four siblings are effectively agents of Zeus. Cratos also mocks Hephaestus and Prometheus a lot though and Kacchan does mock basically everyone. Also for the game, they didn't actually base their Kratos on the existing god, cuz they didn't know he was a thing. They chose the name at a late stage in development, once Kratos was already fleshed out, and named him after the greek word that means Strength. So really it's more so coincidental that they share the name.
Dude i f***ing love your theory! Thats awesome, great grinding of stories and characters. I'll definitely reading incoming chapters with this theory in mind. Good observation!
I think Yaoyarozu fits Athena the best. She’s stated has a one of the most intelligent and strategic students in 1-A. Plus she’s class president so she no doubt could rally the other heroes if Deku has to rely on them
Hmmm in that theory bakugou could be Poseidón with his temper, he Is very reactive and competitive with zeus and todoroki being hades, one of the most chill with daddy issues AND difficulty to interact with others (of course pre tournament todoroki) Is quite fitting
I doubt the big 3 gods are the big 3 of class 1A it seems that in a way it is All Might = who is Zeus Endeavor = Poseidon Aizawa = Hades Mirio = Herc Deku = ? Bakugou = ares ibara= dionysus Hermes = iida Tyche = Gentle villain gigantomachia = cerebus Not sure here but nyx = kurogiri
mythology is public domain, so i see no problem with that. and besides there are many other popular anime/manga that did the same and got away with it. just give one piece for example, where several fables and myths were borrowed and had been major parts of the story. dragonball was heavily inspired from journey to the west, naruto took elements from Kojiki and Buddhism and more... so on and so forth... and yea i think its a very COMMON thing.
Ok so this is genius and with the recent events of the manga I think I know a bit of things: First Twice is no longer an option but with the panel of chapter 288 and Toga's confrontation woth Uraraka if Uraraka chooses her words wisely Toga may side the heroes because the only thing Toga had against the was "their boring life" and she joined the leauge because of how much she admired stain, but not his beliefes. Now for Athena I think it's Bakugo since he's trying to find atonment in all the shot he did by helping Deku and saving him from Shigaraki, he also helped irishima seeing him as an equal. I agree Hermes being Hawks but I can´t shae the fact that he illed Twice and even when he saw the good in Twice and how he cared for people, he still killed him with no hesitation at all. Eri being Pan seems really close, but idk how Aizawa (Eri's father figure) loosing his leg would affect her because with all the psicological abuse she went through she could think she was guilty for not being able to help, thing that culd make her loose control once again. Now it's incredible how this theory is extremely close towhats happening in the manga rn (10 months later) great analysis (there may be a lot of grammar/spelling errors since english isn't my forst language)
After hearing this I'm officially a subscriber I honestly had goosebumps like most of everything you said somehow made since that I see this anime differently now thx❤💯
There's also when Tartarus in Mha (the prison) had two people from Greek mythology guarding it. I can't remember their names but they had like 10 arms and the characters in the story did also.
I think it's cool - I like this! And it gives a trajectory of where the story might go (plus it's also just fun to speculate) This was a really great video btw ^^
Ares god of war(weapons and explosives included) They're loud, angry, good at beating and blowing shit up and has been kidnapped, but rescued by their friends
I am watching this several month after this first came out and love some of the points that were made. I honestly believe that bakugo is the representation of Athena in My hero academia. He is a bit volatile like the goddess but is also a strategic genius when he steps up. He is trying to make up for the way he treated deku so if deku does go down bakugo is going to be the one to pick him back up again. He helped kirishima reach his potential by recognizing him as his equal. I saw someone put that bakugo is more like aries the god of war but athena is also a war god. Aries is the more negative side of war while athena is the more positive side. She even has Nike by her side aka the goddess of victory
From how you described Athena, having to be someone who inspires Deku to work harder, who helps kiri, and can be vindictive and malicious, I really thought you were going to say Bakugo
Hypothetically speaking, instead of Deku losing his quirk by those bullets, what if he was beaten so badly (and if possible lost his quirk as well), All Might saw that Deku needed to be saved or he would die by Shigaraki's decay, All Might sacrifices himself into a gruesome death (like Nighteye predicted) while Hawks/someone else forces Deku to flee while witnessing all of this happen?
It is easy to miss because it is always there. Adding another layer of Greek myth influence to a work in a genre already heavily influenced by Greek myth (super heroes) makes My Hero Academia a Russian nesting doll of mythic influences.
i am really into greek and roman mythology and as someone who has a decent understanding of that world it really feels like kinda making things fit together the way you want them to but i enjoyed the video
I personally enjoyed watching this video. I've been into Greek Mythology since I was little, so seeing all these relations to My Hero Academia, I find it most interesting. As an author of Fantasy novels, I've used a fair share of mythical creatures. Namely, the Typhon was a fearsome creature my 'heroes' had to face off with. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to see how the story continues to unfold.
I can't help to feel like Bakugou should be portrait as Athena. I mean, he is the one (besides All Might) that inspired Deku to be stronger since they were kids and Deku said it when they both fought after All Might vs All for one. He is also source of inspiration for Kirishima, as he also said in the pool episode. Besides, Bakugou is an actual genius in everything he does, both in battle and in terms of inteligence. Of course, his personality seems to overshadow these traits for most people... I mean, he is a fucking brat, but even that can be an exaggerated parallel to Athena's personality. I agree with everything else though. When you connected Kirishima's mask and hair to Hercules i had the biggest revelation moment ever.
I friggin love this. Love your research and arguments. When you mentioned that it's strange that Horikoshi relied so much on Greek Mythology, I actually share the opposite sentiment towards that. I think it's awesome that pulled so much from Greek Mythology. I don't know much about Greek Mythology, but now that you've explained it through My Hero Academia, I've come to appreciate it more. Also, I like the correlation, because there's nothing new under the sun ya know? Meaning just about everything comes from something. All in all, I absolutely loved this video and am now even more pumped for this next arc in both the manga and anime
"His father Cronos" *shows pic of Chronos, God of Time* Gaia also raised Zues during the time after his mother tricked Cronos into eating a rock in his place, allowing to grow up and defeat him. and the Hecatoncheires were part of a race referred to as Centimanes, different than giants, they helped overthrow the Titans and were created during the time of the Primordials. the 12 Labours were to atone for Heracles murdering his family, and the king who gave him the tasks never expected him to complete the labours. everything else was pretty accurate.
Isn't the doctor who told deku that he didn't have a quirk, the same one who worked with all for one to create nomu? It's given rise to the theory that deku's quirk was stolen.
@@Merilirem if anything, that doctor should be sued for emotional distress against a minor. Cuz if you really think about it, all the bullying Izuku had to endure was because of him and how the society is in the My Hero world.
@@RashaundaSpears The doctor did not do anything wrong as far as we know for certain. Doctors are not generally held accountable for societal issues. Even if he was responsible for Izuku losing his quirk its not like he didn't have bigger things going on. A lawsuit is hardly a big deal for him. As far as being a normal doctor its not like he did anything but tell the child he lacked a quirk. You can't sue people for telling you the truth when you ask them.
I really feel like Greek mythology is such a classic and fundamental element in any hero story that having a connection about it in anime (I’d go as far as saying every anime) is easy to connect. It’s richness is easy to exploit.
Wait a second... What if Athena ISN'T supposed be connected to Uraraka? *What if Athena is actually supposed to be NANA SHIMURA?* It's actually fitting, and I always imagined Nana appearing to Deku in one of those OFA dreams to be the one to motivate him after Deku loses the fight against Shigaraki. It fits perfectly!
Shigaraki is the one who takes care of the outcasts of Society and you guys are saying that twice is only good guy in league and they use him and deku should save him? First, hero Side should face the flaws of society
Okay, so I'm a huge fan of Greek mythology, and I never made some of these great connections. This is some seriously amazing analysis. An alternate (and more direct) mirror to the hundred-handed-ones (I'm not spelling out their actual name) is Shoji. I prefer the idea of that being Twice, but if I recall correctly Horikoshi said he was planning on doing more with Shoji. I really like the idea of Hawks as Hermes. However, I feel like there might be more parallels between him and Icarus. I'm not sure if the parallels are intentional. It's important to keep in mind that the story elements from Greek mythology have ingrained themselves into this world's culture. The story conventions are universal, and so often clear mirroring is inevitable because of its influence. All in all, great job, this was a seriously cool video.

Awesome analysis! But, sure there is a lot of similarities, I don't see that as a drawback or problem. In fact, for me at least, it represent the importance and relevance that stories like this play in civilization development. This stories repeat themself over and over again. Like the hero with a 1000 faces. And unless they were retold and adapt to more recent times, they would lost it's power. We are witnessing the rebirth of mythology. Brilliant video , one of the best on the series yet
if deku is “zues”
kacchan should be “kratos”
he always yells deku name like that , so imagine him going like dat
i think Bakugo is Hephaestus, the fire god.
I'd say, Kacchan is Ares, the God of War, whereas Hephaestos is represented by Hatsume and Mr. Powerloader.
@@biggsdarklighter0473 Momo could work too

If deku is Zeus, are Bakugou and Todoroki Poseidon and Hades?
Anime Lover - Nicole we’ll fire and ice do make water...and bakugo is just...hades
Bakugou would be more of Ares, got of war and anger management; Hades is closer to Aizawa! The Todoroki as a Poseidon parallel would work very well.
@@stpuidoman5701 hades is pretty chill in greek mithos...unlike what disney will have you believe
Hmmm in that theory bakugou could be Poseidón with his temper, he Is very reactive and competitive with zeus and todoroki being hades, one of the most chill with daddy issues AND difficulty to interact with others (of course pre tournament todoroki) Is quite fitting

@@RashaundaSpears so, who's Aphrodite? (reference to that "Hephaestus trap")
Ok so this is genius and with the recent events of the manga I think I know a bit of things:
First Twice is no longer an option but with the panel of chapter 288 and Toga's confrontation woth Uraraka if Uraraka chooses her words wisely Toga may side the heroes because the only thing Toga had against the was "their boring life" and she joined the leauge because of how much she admired stain, but not his beliefes.
Now it's incredible how this theory is extremely close towhats happening in the manga rn (10 months later) great analysis

Athena. Inspiring Deku. Helping Kirishima. Being known for holding grudges, being smart and good at strategy.
@@crisromero7376 Oh Athena is so perfect for him.
I think he is both, but seeing his chaotic attitude Aries god fits him better
I think Athena is Momo
From how you described Athena, having to be someone who inspires Deku to work harder, who helps kiri, and can be vindictive and malicious, I really thought you were going to say Bakugo
Yooo you just made the fandom even more thirsty for mina 👁👃👁💬
And now I hate them for it
Yep
Toru Hagakure would be Hestia, the friendly and rarely-seen Olympian.
Yup definitely
Hypothetically speaking, instead of Deku losing his quirk by those bullets, what if he was beaten so badly (and if possible lost his quirk as well), All Might saw that Deku needed to be saved or he would die by Shigaraki's decay, All Might sacrifices himself into a gruesome death (like Nighteye predicted) while Hawks/someone else forces Deku to flee while witnessing all of this happen?
I cant believe I never notices the similarities
Sameeee! and i love Greek mythology!!! I feel so dumb now ..... damn
It is easy to miss because it is always there. Adding another layer of Greek myth influence to a work in a genre already heavily influenced by Greek myth (super heroes) makes My Hero Academia a Russian nesting doll of mythic influences.

One For All really makes you FEEL like Zeus
I personally enjoyed watching this video. I've been into Greek Mythology since I was little, so seeing all these relations to My Hero Academia, I find it most interesting. As an author of Fantasy novels, I've used a fair share of mythical creatures. Namely, the Typhon was a fearsome creature my 'heroes' had to face off with.
Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to see how the story continues to unfold.
A year and half later, you really did a great job of predicting the future.
F no, Athena is better than Baku.

Isn't the doctor who told deku that he didn't have a quirk, the same one who worked with all for one to create nomu?
It's given rise to the theory that deku's quirk was stolen.
Yep
That gives rise to a lot of theories tbh. It even goes as far as the "AFO is Deku's daddy" theory with the Doctor being his family doctor.
@@Merilirem if anything, that doctor should be sued for emotional distress against a minor. Cuz if you really think about it, all the bullying Izuku had to endure was because of him and how the society is in the My Hero world.

I really feel like Greek mythology is such a classic and fundamental element in any hero story that having a connection about it in anime (I’d go as far as saying every anime) is easy to connect. It’s richness is easy to exploit.
For instance, Narutos war can be likened to the god v giants. It’s just so fundamental that it’s easy enough to relate.

Nice!!
I had a feeling that Bakugou would be Ares, but when you started describing Athena I thought you would tell us that Bakugou was Athena.

I dunno how many people have had the idea of combining all their favorite comics & movies & shows into one single "dream" but the creator was actually able to pull it off. I'm honestly grateful to witness such creative work at action.
