I love this so much. The song and the video. It brings up a certain emotion that I can't describe... almost all BoC's songs do. It's almost like a sad nostalgia of an experience that I haven't actually experienced. Can't describe it. By the way, the parts where everything is blue and red are spot on to LSD visuals that I have every time I do it. Beautiful work.
For me, the music of Boards of Canada, is more than music. I think, you have to listen a long time to it before you recognize what this music is making with yourself and your feelings and when you recognize it, it is just absolutely mind-blowing!
when u read manga wid dis music on its just a nice feeling like naruto up to date chapters u just get dis space feeling when obito and madara mention there eye of the moon plan when boc is on
Thank goodness a shorter edit of Happy Cycling like this exists :) My dad really loves this song but he can get so tired of how long the first part goes, so thank you very much for making this version of the song!
This is the very very first BOC song I ever heard haha. Heard it on some obscure 'progressive house' compilation DJ mix album. ItThe album also happened to feature Autechre's Nine on it too!!! I remember at the time I didn't know how to take both these songs, think I was too young to appreciate it. Funny how a few years later boc & autechre became my 2 fave bands.
Spooky!! - I've just discovered Boards of Canada, and just rediscovered cycling after a 30 year break, I'm loving both. The video is very good too - nice work!
I am damn impressed. The way you synchronize music and video is amazing (I love the Seagull part :) ) I had a similar video idea some time ago... I love it. Keep up the good work.
This song is like jumping out of an Air Plane! Exhilarating and frightening! No matter how bad things get moments like riding a bike can help us escape the Horrors of Life with Trepidation of course!!
Awesome work! Similar concept to Michel Gondry's "Star Guitar" video for The Chemical Brothers - but you executed this very well. I like the fact that your video changes camera angles and perspectives too, while "Star Guitar" is all one angle.
You made a man's dream. My dream. Thanks... gee, thanks so much for this wonderful job! The sounds and music fits perfectly the image! Just like Star Guitar of Chemical Brothers!
ahh so a new building one cycle in the song, the bump in the floor makes the drums and the power lines equals the electronic instruments :-) you even kept the bird in mind quite mathematical concept but very good and (though it may sound like a contradiction) still very artistic which can be said equally about BoC! Absolutely love the part with the blinking bird! and of course 1:48! love the water to because it looks realistic and unreal at the same time. Keep up the good work!
Amazing. Really trips me out. Also liking experimental trip hop and electronica acts like Amon Tobin, Massive Attack, Four Tet, Tricky, Bonobo, DJ Shadow,Unkle, DJ Krush, Allflaws
Yes Terror! even Dread! But upbeat at the same time! How they pull that off is Amazing! Frightening and soothing at the same time!! Psychedelic influence no doubt about it!! I love it tho!!
Ah, i do cycling every-day with mostly BoC & other ambient bands in earphones :) Man, this little clip does have what it makes you experience. And here, in Indian chaotic dense streets with so many people, cars, rush..just watching shades of life with this background music is beautifully cinematic.
How is it the Thus Spoke Zarathustra of electronic music? Are you just trying to say that you really like Nietzsche and Boards of Canada all in one? :P
The gibberish at the end of "Happy Cycling" is a backmasked conversation with one of the lyricists of the Electric Light Orchestra... On the subject of backmasking in various ELO songs. So you have to listen to the song backwards to hear the backmasked message about backmasking. Strangely brilliant.
I see people talk about terror... but oddly enough this song has always felt like letting go of the "normal" order, fighting to be free. Once the end kicks in, it's all free flight. Dunno, that's my take from it.
I know how hard it is to get anything out of 3D software so I just have to tell you this is amazing! Great job. You should send this to BoC themselves, I think it is a better production than either of their "real" videos.
This is one of their songs that's so simple, but has so much variety at the same time.
Thank God this kind of music exists.
I know right??!!
Amen to that brotha
you have to thank two human beings from Scotland
Jup
I love how everything goes with the music... especially each time the bike goes over a bump.
I love this so much. The song and the video. It brings up a certain emotion that I can't describe... almost all BoC's songs do. It's almost like a sad nostalgia of an experience that I haven't actually experienced. Can't describe it. Upbeat and happy with absolutely terrifying undertones. Love it!
I like the strange CGI and this track. It is like a weird dream with odd nostalgia.
Best seagull sample of all time
This is amazing. The modeling and animation and obvious passion for the music you have is absolutely awesome. Please keep doing this kind of thing.
i like how all the overhead cables and stuff are in time with the beat, took me two watches to realise

very interesting. Happy Cycling is one of my top favourite BOC tunes...great video accompaniment.
I happened upon this when looking for "happy cycling" (thinking there was maybe an official BoC video). Wow! I love this. So beautiful. Nicely done.
This is the most awesomest combination of music and visual ever. Period. Yes. Indeedy.

Love the vid, you should be very proud of yourself... good work!
Love the subtle bits like the wires of the telephone lines near the start.
Ace.
This song is like jumping out of an Air Plane! Exhilarating and frightening! No matter how bad things get moments like riding a bike can help us escape the Horrors of Life with Trepidation of course!!
I thought you did a great job on the video. Love the transitions. 10/10
I agree ...great bike closeups too
Awesome work! Similar concept to Michel Gondry's "Star Guitar" video for The Chemical Brothers - but you executed this very well. I like the fact that your video changes camera angles and perspectives too, while "Star Guitar" is all one angle.
the way the seagulls are in time is just so awesome
You made a man's dream. My dream. Thanks... gee, thanks so much for this wonderful job! The sounds and music fits perfectly the image! Just like Star Guitar of Chemical Brothers!

This is amazingly close to what I envisioned when I first heard the song. Love the timing

1:50 to end therapy of relaxation whenever I need it
wooaaaahh nice work!! i loove how the animation goes with the music :D
good job ahaha
This is awesome. Very creative and has that surreal quality that BoC's music generates.
What a great vid! - this is really professional work and I assumed it was official. Perfectly complements the track and with humour too!
Great! I love how every sound is accounted for in the video.
ahh so a new building one cycle in the song, the bump in the floor makes the drums and the power lines equals the electronic instruments :-) you even kept the bird in mind

Excellent vid to an excellent tune. Really great.
Excellent work, man. Keep it up. (PS: The 70's and early 80's were fun, but no era or decade is better than any other- excluding the Cheney years)
phenomenal song...the video really does it justice. Good job, man.
Ah, i do cycling every-day with mostly BoC & other ambient bands in earphones :)
Man, this little clip does have what it makes you experience. And here, in Indian chaotic dense streets with so many people, cars, rush..just watching shades of life with this background music is beautifully cinematic.
I always come back to you Boards... always.
I hear the Brian Eno influence strongly on this. Really beautiful track.
The dissonant strings/chorus in the background is ace.

How is it the Thus Spoke Zarathustra of electronic music? Are you just trying to say that you really like Nietzsche and Boards of Canada all in one? :P
Shocked I've never seen this when i was in my idm phase in my 20s. Great animation.
