Most K-Pop groups simply dance to and lip-synch to their songs. YG never prioritized choreography (especially w/ Big Bang) like other K-Pop groups did so they had to "wow" us instead with their singing, rapping, energy, and stage presence. Perhaps it's because I'm from the U.S. and their style catered to my Western sensibilities but it always bored me when K-Pop groups would lip-synch to their songs and would add nothing to their live performances (dancing though, is not nothing and takes skill and energy). Big Bang would frequently use ad libs, a live band, extended intros, etc. in their concerts that always differentiated their MV/ music show performances from their live ones. I mean, even in their 2012 MAMA stage, T.O.P wrote a new verse for "Crayon" and the other members sang/ rapped to GD's solo song. Lol.
If any other group has been through the amount of scandals they've had to deal with, they'll probably disband. But BIGBANG has remained to be one of the most highly anticipated acts in KPOP until today. Their music is still trending and people actively look them up because they miss them.
