- Today we build a detailed passenger airport using the Airports DLC and taking inspiration from Newcastle airport in the UK to create a large but not OTT international airport. We also add in transit connections, a new intersection and plan ahead for the Cargo airport!
Welcome to Auridon! This is a 'lightly’ modded Cities Skylines gameplay series, although I do use a ton of mods the series will use mostly Vanilla (+DLC) building assets with only a handful of extras from the workshop. The focus of this build is on making a detailed city, with functional mass transit, including all DLC and content creator packs. 2022 ready! The series is based on game play mixed in with detailing timelapse's.

I've taken massive inspiration for this build, and to start my channel, from the Cities: Skylines greats such as Biffa, Imperatur and City Planner Plays (among many many others I would add!!) but above all from the amazing OverchargedEgg and in particular his Palaven series which has heavily inspired this city. Only you could take two brand new airport terminals, delete half of them, merge them together and have them look more like a real airport terminal than either of the originals. Outstanding. I've been so looking forward to this build and I was not disappointed. And the population spike is easy to explain. Auridon is so amazing that every time a plane lands, 700,000 tourists arrive to see the wonders of the city 🤣😂🤣

How about Fewcastle becomes the name of the county for which Auridon ist the county seat of?
Auridon Fun Fact of the Day: The Auridon International Airport is home and hub to many different airlines. One of them is fly.candy, a budget airline known for its magenta striped planes. Founded in 2014 fly.candy soon was known as the sweetest but most dangerous to teeth airline in the world. The Royal Dentists Association warned parents not to use fly.candy for vacationing with children, as the free candy given away by this airline exceeded the jet fuel consumption of their planes by 17%.

'I think it has come together alright' - understatement of the year. This is absolutely awesome 😍 and as always so many small details to see everywhere. Loving the view of the parked aircrafts and the flower beds towards the expensive hotels and on the entry roundabout🤯 Can't wait for the cargo airport episode now.

Stunning build.
It's feels like quite a realistic airport. Whilst you have put in a ton of parking, it's probably still not enough. Lol
Once you have built the cargo hub, it will really anchor this part of the city. Like your farm build did for that area.
The night time view is really nice.
One little thing that you could add at a later stage is off-Airport parking with like a park and ride service.

WONDERFUL build, Few!!! I love the layout of the runways and access roads, and you did amazing things with the concourse assets. Loved how the whole thing came together despite the rollercoastering population issues! Will be watching again to really see every thing you did. 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 LOVE IT!!!! ❤️

Fewcastle international Airport is the name I'd give it.
The only thing I would add is row or two of those elevated square shade structures over the parking spaces for the rental cars. (at the Enterprise lot)

@40:36 there is a light pole and a black box in the middle of the road.
I think they are part of the museum.
And there is 1 more part of the path under the roundabout.
But again this is turning out to be a good build.

Wow, the detail is awesome
This one seems busier than Pinesylvania, lol! Fav moments: 1)..."you can't bob them off. they're not part of bobbing." 2) all the parking - planes and cars (I can't stop myself on the parking, I am entranced); 3) the bushes leading into the hotels - and - 4) THE ROOFTOP POOL!!! ...OH, at the last minute another one! after 9 mins of detailing overview.. "Really, that's about it." :D

Another great build! I can't seem to design a proper airport, but you make it look easy.
Just a reminder for when you come back to build the cargo terminal: every airport needs it's own fire station. And the aplliances must reach all points of the runway in a set time to get the certification. So maybe you should add a station very soon 🙂

I love the airports DLC except for the one-way-ness of the runways and taxiways. We land on both sides of a runway depending on the wind and taxi accordingly. Airports just makes it so that you have to add more taxiways than necessary. Also wish they had thought about proper airport lighting 🙃 it takes a ton of extra work to make them realistic looking at night

I couldn't join the premiere but finally watched it!! I love it FewC!! I love how everything works together in perfect harmony. And you know I love the trams and trains everywhere, loved the idea of having the tram for transporting people between terminals. Looking forward for the Cargo one!!
Regarding the name, I second what everyone is saying, FewCastle is a perfect name for the Airport. But only if Lord E6 comes to the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Mega episode. Always blown away how good you are at detailing whether it's a area of 50 square units or 5000. Edit: The episode lasted 80 minutes, time surely *flew* by.

Amazing build! Having spent my working life in, around and overhead countless airports around the world I’ve been a bit ambivalent about the dlc (busman’s holiday I guess) - but you’ve just shown me that I’ve gotta get stuck in a build an airport! Once again the realism you achieve without thousands of assets and POs is awesome.

Those little planes are pretty important in the Cargo portion of the airport for agriculture use. You could build a little agriculture plane storage and prepairing station for them.

If it could be squeezed in, it might be nice to have an airport park in the build, as lots of airports have them for people to watch the planes take off and land. They normally are at the end of the runways.

I've seen the cars shuffling back and forth in the After Dark airport as well. I guess the developers haven't fixed that bug yet. :D

Funnily enough that 600-800k population would be realistic for a city of this size and with such developed downtown and amenities all around it. But I hope you can fix the weird bug, as well as the cars and planes shuffling back and forth 😁
Fixed the population issue! It was a RICO mod problem, but the dancing planes are caused by my cinematic camera so that’s the next issue to fix..!

Another great build Few Candy, you are so talented!! What is the control key you use to remove the crosswalks and configure your roundabouts?
Thank you! That is using TMPE traffic manager mod, it’s shift + control + left click when you are in the junctions menu to set up roundabouts, but you also need the hide crosswalks mod so that the crosswalks don’t show up!

I may be wrong but I can't see a taxiway for your larger planes that land on you're second runway to get back to terminal 2.

30:31 planes aren't cars. The do not need sweeping curves. They taxi similar to how a tank drives. They CAN do sweeping curves, but, arguably, planes can turn precisely on the dime much more easily. Ie. Tip of tarmac at terminal 1 is really weird, I would replace the curved segments with either straight lines or box it in. Bottom right corner curve is weird, but not as bad as the tip. You would probably see it replaced with a straight line from the last gate to the intersection. bottom left definitely needs to be a straight line

Still saddened I forgot about the premier and didn't have my phone to remind me😔. Just pausing on the road networt and concourse layout, already looks nice and I can already imagine it matching Auridon vibe very well. The paths down the sides of the terminal is a great idea - hoping they'll get some use - and I'm happy the nodes on the far right behave themselves with the tram tracks even if they're close. Lets see what else you've got in stock with the stands and detailing 😎

If you use node controller to widen the runway does it look ridiculous? The default width of the runways is 6 or 8 units, which puts the width at like 100ish feet. A runway that long designed for large jets to land on would be 2-3x as wide. Love they you’re going for a realistic length! If it was wider the proportions would be right

the first tram station curve i think its impoible to be taken by an long tram it will probably be fine with the tram the game has but the curve could”ve been better

Which mod/assets do you use for those extra streets like the default ones on the airport?
The main pack I use is the Vanilla+ collection from the Steam workshop. Or do you mean the plain concrete streets?

I wonder if the external connections mod is causing the issue with the population spikes.
It turned out it was RICO. I uninstalled it completely and refreshed. Had to go through and re do all my RICO settings but that has worked!

Airport is looking awesome. But what is going on with those insane population numbers?
Auridon broke halfway through the episode! An issue with the RICO mod sent the population soaring which drained the bank when everything shut down due to lack of services. A bit mental! But thankfully it's been fixed since recording the episode!

Does anyone know why on earth the game has been out for so long but still doesn't include in vanilla the one thing we see in any city... Car parks! Lol! Look at that Google earth on this video, the car park is so huge that you simply have to have it in a build of an airport. Ah well, at least I can fiddle it and get the electric car parks from green cities DLC!!! :)
