Let's keep it real! Other cruise lines have already been charging for most of their restaurants. You get to eat once for free. If you want to eat again, you are paying $8 dollars, NOT $80! There are so many more things to take issue with. However, I do agree that if people were already booked on a cruise prior to the change, they should honor the current policy and not have to pay the new fee.
Cuchina del Capitano was a pay restaurant prior to the lockdown, and it was always the intent to make Chibang a paid restaurant. They kept the two restaurants free long after they intended - originally, it was only for six months after Mardi Gras started sailing - so it seems a bit of a first world problem to complain for the extra two and a half years of included dining.
There’s still plenty of free eats. Along with the typical nickel and diming that all the lines partake in, it’s a good way to reduce crowding in those venues.
On other Carnival ship Cucina is $24 every time you go ! I eat there 4-5 every cruise and I cruise very often. So $8 is not bad and you eat 1 time free ! But the water that started at 2.99 for the 12 bottles is now outrageously priced at over $17 plus tax . 😡
I get why you and others may be annoyed at this change. But with the last to Carnival cruises I was on, the specialty restaurants were extra. I would have no problem paying $8 for a really nice meal. You can't get a full meal at McD or BK for $8. Let's just hope they don't keep increasing the fee. And $18 for water is outrageous, I agree with you there.
@jkconner9636 agreed the Mexican food tasted like a dollar store Chipotle. And the Chinese food.... was not good. I would tolerate it for free would not spend a dime on it if they wanted to charge. I'm a cheap cruiser if it's not free or included I avoid it. I even screen shot all the pictures they take of me.
I'll take the one free meal in those places, but I don't cruise because of the specialty restaurants onboard. I spend zero dollars on food on ships. I loved the Jubilee and got a really good deal. Planning to go back on it some day, but not because I want to eat in the pay extra restaurants. I'll still do the included stuff and spend money on excursions. Cruising is still the best vacation deal around.
The Italian place is an “at cost” restaurant on the other ships, so going once for free, and then $8 every time thereafter is not so bad. I think they charge around $16 or so on the other ships.
I think the reason why they do it is the cruise ticket fare are so reasonable I guess. But they will loose more cruisers for this particular ship. This is the first ever when it’s supposed to be all inclusive. 🤷🏻♂️
They did the same on the Mardi Gras. It was expected for the Jubilee. This is not news. Btw.. chibang is no worth $8 on a ship. That being said, the change should only affect those who have not already passed final payment.
Has it become especially hard to get into these specialty restaurants? If so, this should lighten the wait time at these places. Carnival is a victim of their own success.
I've gone the last few years on several cruises and part of the deal is the included meal bargains. the other specialty dining is good and of course excessively overpriced. But we pay them anyway to try them out. if they overcharge the rest it's simply not worth it. I ll try something else next time. Maybe land vacations. We'll see.
I just got off the jubilee in August. I might be in the minority but I don't think chibang is very good and it's not worth $8. If they're going to charge for those restaurants now I want a better buffet. Jubilee had the worst buffet I've ever seen a cruise ship
@johnl56 jubilee was not fun they made the hallways bigger but the shops and theater and main dining rooms smaller. The restrooms at my balcony room was TINY. I'm sticking to Breeze Dream Vista.
Lol they been doing this . We went back in December 2023 and they were charging $8 for the second round . Let’s be honest you never going back because of wait times
We are headed on the Celebration for a B2B in July 2025. I guess we will have to just eat there once. We did get to eat on both as much as we wanted om the Mardi Gras. I guess those days are over.
No $8 isn't a lot but EVERYTHING is becoming an up charge. Tips, water...what else. I understand they are i n business to make money but it's not very classy to say the least. Charge more for the cruise and just be done with this crap.
Keep in mind, on other classes of ships that have it, Cuchina del Capitano is a for pay from the get go specialty restaurant. Consider the one free meal a bonus on the excel class ships.
Considering Cuchina del Capitano is already a pay specialty restaurant on the other classes of ships that have them, I would consider this a bonus and not worth the complaint.
They said they were going to do this for the inaugural year of sailing for their newer ships back when Mardi Gras launched. This isn't new information and it was never intended for those restaurants to stay completely free.
This is nothing new… They did the same thing on the the Mardi Gras and the celebration. I was OK with it because you only need to go to each restaurant during the seven day cruise.
You are able to eat at each place for free once. So that means a free meal at Cucina( and if you want to eat there again there is an $8 per person charge) ad a free meal at Chibang (and if you want to eat there again there is a $8 charge per person). In my opinion dining at Cucina was good so I wouldn't mi nd paying the $8 if i wanted to eat there again. Chibang to me wasn't worth it. Ok for free but not for a return pay for meal.Mardi Gras , and Celebration after their Inaugural year was over started charging for the 2nd meal, so I'm not surprised that since Jubilee Inaugural year is coming to an end that they would do the same. Just like the Lobsters in the MDR on Elegant Night first 2 are free , the third there is a charge. All cruise lines are nickel and dime .
Didn’t care for Carnival Pride in March 2024. Served the same food at buffet as the dining room. My husband and I were not happy. I enjoy salads but not as a meal more often as not. Horrible food on buffet, so went to dining room to find out it was the same shit! We ended up paying for room service twice. When we were on ecstasy in 2020 most of the room service was free, or cheap. We won’t be cruising again any time soon.
I’m well aware cruise lines lost billions during lockdown - however the management are clueless if they expect passengers to pay for what was once included. Cruise companies are GOUGING money from cruisers and unfortunately untill we all start telling these conglomerates not for me thank you I’ll holiday on land this year, lines will keep inventing more things for us to pay for ( next month it’s toilet paper and soap) < clearly they are ludicrous extra charges - although I’d consider standard food in the same category; but you catch my drift I’m sure> For me from Australia or elsewhere for that matter cruising is now completely unaffordable now and prices will have to drop significantly/- and the once included benefits of cruising ie. free food return closer to what I’m used to before I’d consider going beck to sea. Traveling on land isn’t deep but I can get better value on land these days then I can on a cruise ship ! Especially as I’m a solo cruiser and pay 50% extra on top anyhow. David Young 39 Brisbsne Australia.
@FrogWhizzer im gonna get hate for this but... I NEVER PAY Gratuity. Always remove it and pay my waiters and room service members that are serving me personally a one time cash tip a good one!
Carnival started doing this a while back on the Mardi Gras. Cruises are at or above capacity and this will help people be able to enjoy a meal here. $8 is nothing, my wife and I recently went to dairy Queen and that was $34. $8 per person is cheap
An all inclusive resort is so much cheaper cruise lines are pricing themselves or of business!!! People are penny pinching to pay bills disney did samething empty parks
This used to be a paid restaurant in the past on other ships. I hate to say this because it's ghetto Carnival, but this to me is actually more than fair. This may cut down on the wait to get into these places and 8 bucks in today's world of inflation is a bargain. I'm actually shocked they are still giving 1 free.
This has been in place for awhile now on the Celebration and Mardi Gras. You get a single visit for free and then if you want to go back it's 8 bucks. Cucina is worth it, Chibang is not. But, the free lunch on sea days at Chibang is fantastic with their broth and noodle bowls. As well as sea day lunch at Cucina. Carnival has twice as many free included options at lunch than Royal does. But the Loyal Royals don't know that because they stick their nose down at Carnival.
These were only free on the Mardi Gras because of waits in the main dining room at the beginning. There is no way executives at Carnival are scared of Margaritaville at Sea. This is just made up. This channel is cheesy. Moving on.
You people are finally realizing that Carnival has been trash … along with the crazy wild and rude bubble-butt customers… you get what you pay for … why we only cruise with Regent or Seabourn
@johnbrandon859 agree why are they so loud and are he'll bent on bringing Marijuana on the ship everywhere you go it stinks like weed and hear blue tooth speakers blaring hip hop rap...
I've never cruised Carnival, and now I definitely never will.
They have already been doing this. Personally I wouldn’t want to go to Chibang more than once anyway.
That’s what I thought too…. That’s how it was in November ‘23 on the Celebration.
Let's keep it real! Other cruise lines have already been charging for most of their restaurants. You get to eat once for free. If you want to eat again, you are paying $8 dollars, NOT $80! There are so many more things to take issue with. Not vurgin cruises
Carnival needs to stop price gouging!!! You are already paying for included restaurants when you pay your fare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bottled water is outrageous
Cuchina del Capitano was a pay restaurant prior to the lockdown, and it was always the intent to make Chibang a paid restaurant. They kept the two restaurants free long after they intended - originally, it was only for six months after Mardi Gras started sailing - so it seems a bit of a first world problem to complain for the extra two and a half years of included dining.
Hope the buffet is still (free)
@brucepobanz breakfast buffet is horrible the eggs look like lumpy gravy I avoid the breakfast buffet at all costs.

Interesting development. Chibang was decent but I would NOT pay for it. Carnival may shoot themselves in the foot with moves like this.

Just another reason to hate Carnival.
It’s all good for me
The Italian place is an “at cost” restaurant on the other ships, so going once for free, and then $8 every time thereafter is not so bad. I think they charge around $16 or so on the other ships.
They still have a lot of debt to pay off. I never expected this to continue.
Mardi Gras gave you one meal at each restaurant then the next was $8 each. Nothing new
Thanks for the updates Captain Corey 👍
Boycott carnival and let them know. They are just padding the CEO pockets.
First time free, after that $8. sounds like a great deal!
On other ships those same restaurants have been charging a lot more then $8.!

They have done this with all of the Excel class ships after the first year. This isn’t a surprise.
Has it become especially hard to get into these specialty restaurants? If so, this should lighten the wait time at these places. Carnival is a victim of their own success.
This was my thought too, if it’s because they are super busy this will make it easier for everyone to get a time slot to eat there
This is completely reasonable. Now if you tell me we’re getting charged for Guys, Blue Iguana, and Big Chicken, we’re going to riot. 😂
I concur and 8.00 is not going to kill me. I'm sticking with Carnival
I've gone the last few years on several cruises and part of the deal is the included meal bargains. the other specialty dining is good and of course excessively overpriced. But we pay them anyway to try them out. if they overcharge the rest it's simply not worth it. I ll try something else next time. Maybe land vacations. We'll see.
They are going to lose a lot of cruisers...Nickle and Dime....!!!!!
😢😢😢😢😢
You're clueless. Carnival has the most included free options for lunch, substantially more than both Royal and MSC and more than NCL.
They won't, those who it doesn't bother will pay the 8.00.
It’s all good for me
News. I didn't know we could have eaten at the restaunts at no charge for first visit.
Not news. They've done this on every new ship.
I just got off the jubilee in August. I might be in the minority but I don't think chibang is very good and it's not worth $8. If they're going to charge for those restaurants now I want a better buffet. Jubilee had the worst buffet I've ever seen a cruise ship

I got sick on Carnival Jubilee 6 days ago cucina del capitano had stomach issues for days... don't eat the mussels with pasta...
Been on 17 cruises and not an issue for me. Never been to hi Bang and the other is not very good.
Lol they been doing this . We went back in December 2023 and they were charging $8 for the second round . Let’s be honest you never going back because of wait times
Way to go! "Some Guy on the internet!" LOL
Jubilee charges for herbal tea bags! HAL includes it, no charge.
Because they can. They have plenty of customers now, so they don’t care if you don’t like it.
We are headed on the Celebration for a B2B in July 2025. I guess we will have to just eat there once. We did get to eat on both as much as we wanted om the Mardi Gras. I guess those days are over.

Will this affect the customers who have already paid for cruises. We are on the Jubilee Nov 2nd.
They said they were going to do this for the inaugural year of sailing for their newer ships back when Mardi Gras launched. This isn't new information and it was never intended for those restaurants to stay completely free.
Is carnival celebration doing the same starting Sept 7
I took a group on celebration last year and it was already like that. Free for the first one then $8 a meal.
If they're charging for certain restaurants, then they're technically no longer"included". This is why I prefer Disney Cruise Line.
This is nothing new… They did the same thing on the the Mardi Gras and the celebration. I was OK with it because you only need to go to each restaurant during the seven day cruise.

So what on earth are we paying for! Just accommodation by the looks of it 😢
Carnival Mardi Gras was already charging $8 for meal at Chibang after 1st free meal.
I was on the Mardi Gras in July and I paid 8.00 it's not a big deal
They are pay restaurant on the other ships that have them.
Good Evening Corey, I guess that in January we will only go once to each then as that will be our first sailing onnthe Jubilee
Didn’t care for Carnival Pride in March 2024. Served the same food at buffet as the dining room. My husband and I were not happy. I enjoy salads but not as a meal more often as not. Youve never paid for room service maam

Neither are very good and very boring if you go more than once. I can't imagine this being the highlight of anyone's cruise.
An all inclusive resort is so much cheaper cruise lines are pricing themselves or of business!!! People are penny pinching to pay bills disney did samething empty parks

Walmart of the Sea.
Neither are on my fav list! Once was enough.
Carnival is only doing what Royal Caribbean and Norwegian is doing
Okay if true ill not cruise again
This has been happening for 20 years now
What do you expect from the kings of nickel and diming? Screw carnival.
People are really complaining about 8 bucks that’s nothing oh yeah baby lol
This is the same as all excel ships.

@CruiseFacts849 Carnival is the Walmart of the seas but Royal is the Mall of the seas. Same thing.
@@069751 Lol!! That's so true!
Eight dollars is great compared to other lines, I was shocked by that number!
Took you over 2min just to get to the point smh
Carnival NickelDime
If you don’t like the policy, stop cruising with Carnival. No one is forcing you to pay.
@@ricktaylor5397 or... don't visit the pay restaurant simple.
Rip off for a single cruiser!
AMERICAN wages aren't going up but goods, services and experiences continue to increase and people will choose to just stay home. Corporate greed
This was egregious click bait.
These were only free on the Mardi Gras because of waits in the main dining room at the beginning. There is no way executives at Carnival are scared of Margaritaville at Sea. This is just made up. This channel is cheesy. Moving on.
Another reason to not cruise carnival
NY God 😢
I really did not need yet another reason to avoid sailing on Carnival. Friends don't let friends sail on Carnival. Just say NO to Carnival.
They're the largest cruise line in a world so obviously not everyone has your narrow minded attitude
No, I'm sticking with Carnival
Apparently you never saild silver seas cruise
You people are finally realizing that Carnival has been trash … along with the crazy wild and rude bubble-butt customers… you get what you pay for … why we only cruise with Regent or Seabourn
