    There is so much to Taiwan beyond Taipei, and we are so glad we got to experience a bit of the Taiwanese countryside. Perhaps on our next trip to Taiwan, we will visit Taichung and the Sun Moon Lake area! 🇹🇼 In next week’s video, we’re heading to another beautiful country in Asia- any guesses where? 🤗

    My family visited the Taroko Gorge some years ago. Spectacular - but vertiginous - views. The native peoples have interesting displays and dances. Well worth visiting.

    It was such a joy to see Taroko Gorge National Park in Taiwan. I loved the grand vistas and spectacular shots of all the steep mountains and streams. The Eternal Spring Shrine was spectacular too. The motor cycle ride to the park was also interesting too.

    What a wonderful video of this tiny, magical, misty island of Taiwan. Taroko and it's landscape, waterfalls, winding trails with lavish greenery...draws me in like a spirit pulls me home. Felt this way for Hawaii. Another great tour Chad and Claire! Hi from Wisconsin 🖐

    I am so glad you two enjoyed the park! The rocks in the gorge are made of granite, and so the calcium from the granite mixes with the water to make that beautiful turquoise color.. It is an amazing national park. Some of the mountain peaks there reach over 3,000 meters. It truly is one of my favorite places.

      Absolutely- if we lived in Taiwan, I think we would certainly make an annual trip to Taroko (and Hualien), just because it's so magical and special! Truly a one-of-a-kind "happy place." 🥰 So sad we didn't get the chance to see you this time around, but perhaps on our next trip back to Taiwan (which will very likely happen haha), we can all get together! We miss you, and we hope all is well for you in Taiwan! 💓

    In 1984 I bicycled from Taipei to the southern tip of the island then back to taipei. I crossed over the middle of the island and rode through that beautiful marble canyon, enjoyed the hot springs somewhere then headed north.

    This video is fun. I love nature, and I know China has a whole bunch of crazy geography like this as well. Don't be afraid to just sit down in nature, and put the camera on, to really convey how calm and peaceful it is. Broh. your shop on your website is freaking nuts. you need to show that stuff more. Everything you find on the internet is super cliche and modernist, but your website shop is freaking awesome. I don't know if you make any money on your shop, but it is freaking cool, and you def need to mention it and show some stuff. You need to like end the videos with the guides and stuff. Dont just clip it in, but hold it in your hands at the end of the video and flip to a random page, and see what happens. It would sell the book and the adventure.

    • @ChadandClaire
      @ChadandClaire  11 місяців тому +1

      Oh my goodness- what a kind comment!!! 💗The shop is something we've had (and have loved having) since the very beginning. I get to share my travel-inspired artwork and handmade ornaments there, and we've had great success with selling travel guides and t-shirts! 🥳We DEFINITELY need to talk about it more, and we just might take your suggestion into consideration. Perhaps at the end of each video, we'll give our shop a little shoutout hahahaha. Thank you for checking it out and for supporting our *artistic* endeavors! 🥰

    Thanks so much for a very well made video with super clear instructions and narration. My family is planning to visit Taroko National Park in March 2025, about a year after you guys. 2 questions: (1) If instead of moped, we were to rent a car, can we drive through the same route like yours all the way to the 9 Tunnel place? (2) For the moped rental, do we need motorbike license?

    Please be careful. Just two weeks after I walked along the Lushui Trail in Taroko National Park, an earthquake stuck and rockfalls injured one person and killed another, a Malaysian man, in 2019. I remember looking up at the sheer rock face above me and thought it was best not to linger too long. The park administrators also highly recommend wearing helmets when visiting the Swallow's Grotto in the park due to frequent rockfalls.

    • @ChadandClaire
      @ChadandClaire  11 місяців тому +1

      Very good point made! It definitely could've been wise to wear even our moped helmets when hiking the Shakadang Trail. Glad nothing happened to us this time around, but we will take this note into consideration for whenever we return to the park! 💓

    I loved loved loved this video! You're so brave to ride the motor scooter in Taiwan - at least it wasn't in Taipei traffic! It's so interesting to see reactions to stinky tofu. I would have thought that Chad's reaction would be more negative than it was. I just tried stinky tofu (in a soup) in Taiwan for the first time a week ago, and the smell wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and the taste wasn't that bad either - at first - but that aftertaste really made me cringe. My wife kinda liked it though. It's definitely an experience!

    • @ChadandClaire
      @ChadandClaire  11 місяців тому +1

      Thank you, thank you!!! Chad went back and forth several times on whether he wanted to give the moped ride a try, and I'm glad he went for it. As the relaxed passenger in the back, I had a very easy and scenic ride hahaha. 😂 Our bodies were surprisingly sore (head to toe) the following day, we assume from the amount of balance it takes to stay upright on a moped all day long haha. Yeah, I was surprised that Chad was indifferent to the stinky tofu, but by golly, if you could hear how many times he gagged from the smell while walking through the night market on our first night in Taipei- a record amount of gags, for sure! 😩😮‍💨🤣

    Great episode guys, you captured the beauty pretty well, it’s amazing there. Great call taking the moped, it’s a great way to see the place.
    Unfortunately you seemed to miss out on the best part, Taroko’s thermal springs. They have hot pools of various temperatures. They also have the stream, which is cold water, but there’s spots where you can find jets of hot water. You can find places where a hot jet of water shoots onto your neck, stomach and feet. The rest of the water is cold, it’s such a surreal feeling. It’s exhilarating, you must try. Taroko also has some scary rope bridges, fun to walk across.
    Taichung seems to have a seedy underbelly. One example my taxi driver trying to insist I hire his prostitute sister🤮🤦‍♂️ When you return to Taiwan, you should head back to Taroko to spend some more time.
