2:12 "It doesn't let you put the map in the middle like you can in some other rival systems?" What systems? From VW? How much money you have to spend in order to equip a polo with a fully digital cluster? Maybe from Peugeot 208? Yeah, you have to get the Allure Plus version that costs way more than you pay for the full extra version of i20, and the i20 gives you a digital cluster from the base model anyway.

"Boot space isn't a standout for the class"
Well last time I checked 352 litres in a supermini was pretty good but OK. It wasn't very long ago a focus gave you 316 litres of boot space and that's the next segment up from this i20.

352 litres for a supermini is quite a lot, it’s only the Ibiza, Fabia and Clio which have bigger boots in this class

Very good car forget the reviews the dash layout is very satisfying for car in this price range very comfortable around town holds its own on the motorway relaxing smooth drive stop start is very smooth all the teck you need bluetooth reverse camera auto lights lane assist crash warnining etc smooth gears very nippy for a 1.0 if driven steady can achieve 500+ miles only negatives boot on the small side very pleased with my i20 highly recommend over the usual suspects fiesta corsa fabia ibiza

I have this in Black in the Premium trim and DCT Auto Transmission. It’s a great car. A real head turner with the lovely alloys and tinted windows. Don’t see many on the road really. Economical and plenty quick enough for around town and on the motorway. I’d personally go for a Premium spec if you can afford it, it just looks better than the SE Connect and you get the much better infotainment system inside. The materials inside are absolutely fine. Yes it’s not beautiful but it’s functional and really how often will you touch the dashboard? Steering wheel feels great in the hand. I’d 100% recommend this, defo add it on to your shopping list if you’re looking for a small hatch!

The gearbox is fine if you drive it slowly, but if you try to rush it, it "tells" you immediately you should be a little smoother and more precise with the shifting moves. Not very forgiving is the best way I can describe it!

I just got one of these as a courtesy car, I got 60.8mpg on the drive home. Not that impressive when I get 75mpg in my 2012 Toyota Aygo. I'm an efficient driver though and I've learned a bit more about the hybrid system and the free wheel engine cut off. Compared to the Aygo this car feels really disconnected. It's horrible to drive compared to my Aygo because of this reason. It doesn't like rev matched shifts either as I found you get an after kick from the throttle blip which I assuming is from the electric motor? I'm not too sure though.

The Hyundai i20 has no options to adjust regen. The regen system is schizophrenic. It can't decide whether it's going to cut the engine and coast or if it's going to slam on the regen so you can't consistantly plan a coast down towards a set of lights or a junction.

Except reliability..... VW is an illusion of quality from the past. Ford are down the poopers with their car business and are struggling financially which might translate to major issues on warranty works for buyers, and those brands really give trouble. I owned a Hyundai i20 Active car which I bought in august 2017 and since the beginning there are a lot of issues with the car paint and ac especially, whoever person I met and whenever we discuss, everybody having these two common issues. Just after 2 years, my ac failed where I have driven Maruti and Ford cars for more than 10 years and there was not a single issue with those cars during the entire span. Hyundai is the worst with this quality. Need your support to take it to Hyundai forum where you can get some solution.

i really liked it when i saw it live.
in the end, i only ended going for a fiesta because:
      - more powerful MHEV engine. Unfortunately no MHEV i20's here in portugal
      - driving dynamics on the fiesta are simply amazing
      - lack of a sporty trim on the hyundai i20 range so far (n-line still not available, so can't have a proper opponent to the ST-Line)
      - the fiesta feels more premium inside. Not too flashy, but not too sober. just the right amount.
      - and lastly... the price. 18k euros for a brand new Fiesta ST-Line. oh, and ford gifted me the 7 years warranty.
