Tell me they wouldn’t have put up a better fight in happy valley! The good news is ASU and BYU return so much and we don’t play in the regular season. I HOPE we meet in the championship game and continue to grow this fun rivalry!
BYU is the third most cheered for team in Arizona!!! For most of us in AZ we either cheer ASU 1 BYU 2 or BYU 1 and ASU 2. There may be a few BYU 1 UofA 2 and some UofA 1 and BYU 2s.
The SWC collapsed BECAUSE of ESPN back in 1995. Back then Regional and State Highway rivalries were HUGE . Less than 3 hrs travel to 90% of schools. Except for Texas Tech and or then Arkansas. Yes Arkansas was competitive when they were in the 90's SWC.
100% Truth....I watched one of his interviews during his apology tour and when he made it seem the ACC and Big12 weren't worth watching, you could tell he knew he stepped in it. He tried to cover it up with "worthy" Bowl Games from other conferences to watch.
Wrong there is no bias the sec is the best and has been for years if you were a real fan of an sec school you would already know that and what did the big 12 do against the sec this year again because all I saw was losses
If I'm a player and I see how Utah handled their loss to BYU, I'm not going to want to go there. If I'm the parent of current players or prospective players, I don't want them at Utah as well. Utah never apologized for their actions. During the MWC and WAC years, BYU always got the big recruits over Utah. Only time Utah has been the shiny toy in the last 50 years is while BYU was independent and Utah was in the PAC12. Even then, BYU did a pretty good job of not falling to pieces. Utah can't handle not being the shiny toy of the two now that they're back into the same conference.
It wasn't hard to see that ESPN has had a B10 and SEC bias for years. Hell, the old four team playoff system always made sure the two conferences were always represented and seeded in way to get their marquee CFB championship matchup, especially the SEC.
Y'all gotta stop throwing the B1G into this. The only reason they tolerate us, is because our schools are too big and powerful. Trust me, they would destroy us too, if they could.
Then why would the ESPN talking heads do everything in their power to eliminate a one loss Ohio State team every year so they could get two SEC teams in the playoff? A #2 Ohio state would lose to a top 10 conference opponent and drop down to 8 whereas Bama or Georgia does the same and they drop to #4 or #5 and if they win the SEC they automatically jump every team ranked ahead of them 🤔
i mean how can you be Big 10 biased this year, everyone acted like they sucked compared to the SEC in the media all year then they fucking crushed everyone.
Maybe, after year or two, the players figured out that the environment at the program in Utah isn't is as good as at BYU. Especially after returning from a Mission. Not only the team, but the Spirit at the University is more what they are looking for. Not to mention the team is better.
Drake, I’m a die hard BYU fan. My best friend is an Utah fan and had never been to a live football game. I bought tickets the the Arizona UT game to watch (yes I wore red). After the game on the train people started chanting BYU Sucks. What’s baffling to me is that Utah fans don’t care who wins or loses. They just need BYU to suck. They are the General Huxs of college football “ I don't care if you win, I just need them to lose”.
I only watch games on ESPN, none of their other nonsense. Back when ESPN first started, BYU was their darling for football, but as they got more established, they started dropping the Y and other teams that helped them get going.
You should do a deep dive into the Utah AD some time. He has hated BYU forever and never wanted to schedule any games against them. He even let his basketball coach cancel a couple games for "safety" reasons. The payout for the withdrawal was paid for by the coach's shady "charity" so that it wouldn't be paid for by the University, and thus the state of Utah.
Espn commentators have set the narrative that if you are not in the Big 10 or SEC your team is less deserving because their conference schedule isn't tough enough, but honestly it's a lot of parity across the board in college regardless of conference.
ASU vs Texas is the 2nd most watched bowl game. Lol BYU and ASU are huge brands. One school has an entire religion around them and the other will let you in with a 2.0 thus having a huge fanbase lol
The biggest thing they want is to stack the deck ideally they would want ohio st/Michigan which ever is better notre dame and 10 sec teams. they want to go back to the 4 team model where the sec had an auto bid and everyone else had to be selected by espn to ensure the success of the sec
I remember reading about ESPN and FOX along with some other networks bidding on the playoff, and that ESPN won the rights and wasn’t the highest bidder. They had a lot of influence in other areas. Not sure if 100%, but there was something strange about how ESPN got exclusive rights
This Big 12 basketball fan would much rather be talking basketball at this point in the season....HOWEVER.....ignoring this ongoing espn matter would really be inviting a scenario of "when the cats away, the RATS will play." (espn being the rats here if anyone was in doubt) Good job, Drake, of keeping your eye on the ball.
Yes let’s stop caring about the teams that Carr about developing student athletes and have a real low for the college sport and instead only focus on big brands with unlimited money and a roster full of paid for talent! It used to mean something when a team could out recruit another team. It meant that team has a great culture and gives this kid the best chance to grow over the next 3-5 years. Now it’s “we signed a 5 star to a 2 million dollar contact”. The problem with that is the 5 star isn’t actually good in that program so he ends up transferring to another big program 2 years in and then ends of in the G5 where it turns out this “5 star” belonged all along.

ESPN has a huge bias towards the SEC, they would love SEC teams but if not SEC teams of coarse they are happy who they’ve got. They are in so deep with what they do, which is attempt to manipulate anything that they possibly can in order to achieve the highest ratings possible, that they dont even realize how horrible it is. To them it's normal, its just business and they cant understand why it makes so many people upset. They essentially have a monopoly with college football postseason content and they absolutely show why there are laws against monopoly's in this country. The temptation to go this far is too strong and once they go down that road, they just keep going down that road farther and farther.
Let's be honest, the Utes couldn't care less about honesty or integrity unless it's to accuse better people than them of not having it. UofU has always had a bit of an impotent, little man complex, raging, flailing, and screaming like toddlers. They really know no other way
Clear instances of bias. The shaft of UCF... and then ridicule when they beat the team that beat the team that was awarded the beauty pageant NC. The lobbying against FSU all of last year... even before the QB was hurt. Little mention of how FSU was at 35% and UGA at 85% in the bowl game. No mention FSU put more into the NFL draft last year than Georgia. No SEC team had more drafted that FSU last year. This year, the bashing of Indiana and SMU after getting beat in the playoffs. Condescending toward Texas over Clemson but then silence when Tennessee suffered the worst loss of any team in the college playoff --- that game was over after 10 minutes. UGA got blown out this year and struggled versus Georgia Tech, Kentucky, etc.. Now these bizarre perspectives from Herbstreit and the powers that be.
Drake - You should find a lawyer to bring on and talk to. It'd be interesting to hear a lawyer's take on all this, because I've been wondering lately if we have hit the point of all this puppeteering in college football being in the realm of anti-trust violations.
The problem with inserting a hierarchy is that the anointed don’t always live up to it. We see that with the nobility and kings from all over the world. Some shitstain of a son who isn’t fit to rule. You institute a hierarchy like that and you’re going to have a lot of paper champions. And the SEC and the Big 10 have probably been the two most crooked leagues historically. Always paying players. People think it’s evened out talent now that it’s in the open and I agree. A lot of kids aren’t going to ride the bench at an SEC school when they can start in the Big 12 or ACC
I do NOT believe these football recruiting gossip stories about BYU. Utah fans are upset (no team likes to lose good players) and at least one analyst is an Utah fan but what are the facts? I am more inclined to believe interviews with the former Utah recruits and players and their families… which don’t seem to agree with the gossip stories.
I'm crazy, I'll admit this. But I'd like to see the Big XII align with the other have-nots and give ESPN and the Big 10 and SEC the middle finger amd start fresh. Play real college foitball
Is this really a surprise to anyone? Of course ESPN wants the biggest brands in the playoffs and the biggest of those brands in the final 4. I mean obviously they want to make money and get the largest viewership they can. Their dream would be Ohio State vs Michigan in the final 4 or Championship every year regardless of their SEC bias. The Game routinely draws the largest viewership for any single game every year and since they got shut out of the B1G ESPN's best case scenario is to get that matchup in a round they are the sole broadcaster for. If they could get their way it would be Ohio State, Michigan, ND, and Alabama in the final 4 every year. With Texas, Georgia, Florida State/Miami, and Colorado (with Dieon) rounding out the Elite 8.
“Look kids, a new level of idiot was just released” 😂😂 I don’t think it’s the Big 12 as much as it’s BYU. People just hate BYU because of their Religious affiliation.
That’s definitely a factor but they hate the big 12 and have for awhile too. They talk down about TCU Baylor Iowa state k state really anyone in their way
😂😂hey my guy you really need to get that SEC hate out your heart because your SEC hatred has made you missed the point of Kirk telling you that ESPN has SEC fatigue. Technically it's no SEC teams left with Texas basically being a big 12 transplant .the committee had an opportunity to pick 3 SEC teams for that last spot and they chose elsewhere. If you can't see your argument is misguided and should be focused on the big 10 😂😂why is that so hard when we can look and see the Big 10 benefitted the most out of all of this and have an opportunity to get a all big 10 championship game. So is that gonna be the SEC fault if that happens just asking for a friend 🤷🏿♂️
Utah keeps saying out loud they don't want to be in the Big12. They know the Big10 doesn't want them. Maybe the Utah players know something we don't 🤔🫢🤫🤑
Completely taken out of context! I strongly suggest your listeners watch the On3 podcast for yourself. I hate to be the one to clue you in but MONEY is really important, “what an idiot”!
This woe is me stuff is embarrassing. Everyone roots for underdogs in the blabosphere, and when an underdog gets in a big game the ratings nosedive. Are you a child ?
It would be VERY interesting to actually reveal the national audience numbers for BYU!! Alamo Bowl had two huge crowd draws: in no particular order Shedeur/Hunter combo AND BYU!!
The refs were super biased toward Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. ESPN hates Notre Dame. Sean McDonough looked like he was going to cry after they beat UGA.
When all these big12 channels have a video that makes it appear that the conference is at the center of CFB discussions . Reality is no one ever gives thought to that c I election of teams. Teams are okay, but not equal to the elites at the top of SEC,Big10. That's real. No one cares, and watch here and there because you guys really believe that your teams are good. They aren't trash, but not hardly good either
No, we don’t think everything revolves around the big 12, we just think it’s insane how everything revolves around the SEC when the conference really isn’t that good? Open up your eyes dip shit, and Texas, a.k.a. a big 12 team is the only team that you have left. Clearly the SEC is not good.
Half the top SEC teams were Big 12 teams before the SEC poached them. One of them is the only SEC team left at the moment. But regularly were middle of the pack over the last 15 or so years in Big12 up until last year. OU middle of the pack SEC, and last few years in Big12.
You must have been sleep when Texas almost lost to a big 12 team. You bringing up the past. Get off the past. Texas didn't play any hard teams. When they did they lost. Facts.@@ReisterJP
Why are you upset that Herbstreit said what we already know? When is the last time an existing Big 12 brand had a TV rating higher than any of the semifinal teams? He was asked a direct question and he answered honestly. Had he not answered honestly you'd also be upset.
He's talking about the viewership numbers for teams year after year. 7 teams account for 50% of viewership. He wasn't lying even if it's unpleasant to hear.
@RICOJEEZUS I'm aware, he is just easy to troll being a PSU fan, and Colorado had 4 million average views this year, which was close to being in the top 10 viewership for the season.
Nil is a disaster on all fronts because it has no structure.
This is a hoot Utah doesn't complain. There's no solution when all of these guys were mass exiting b y u for the u
I do NOT believe these football recruiting gossip stories about BYU. Utah fans are upset (no team likes to lose good players) and at least one analyst is an Utah fan but what are the facts? I am more inclined to believe interviews with the former Utah recruits and players and their families… which don’t seem to agree with the gossip stories.
he's still sad about his dog dying.
Like we didn't already know lol
Utah is= UCON as an independent. Zero Nation Fan Base. They simply can't stomach The New Sheriff in town!
If Lil sis up north can learn to play nicely, then we can talk about letting them stay. Otherwise, the PAC is still around.
“Look kids, a new level of idiot was just released” 😂😂
I don’t think it’s the Big 12 as much as it’s BYU. People just hate BYU because of their Religious affiliation.
That’s definitely a factor but they hate the big 12 and have for awhile too. They talk down about TCU Baylor Iowa state k state really anyone in their way
Pac 12 would take Utah back in a heartbeat. Come home baby…
Sheduuuuuurrrrrrr ur pure gaslight . 3rd , 4th round at best but some silly GM will fall for it
Abuse me&Accuse me! Excuse me?… 😂😂👎🏽
😂😂hey my guy you really need to get that SEC hate out your heart because your SEC hatred has made you missed the point of Kirk telling you that ESPN has SEC fatigue.
Thank god he needs to go
This woe is me stuff is embarrassing.
Everyone roots for underdogs in the blabosphere, and when an underdog gets in a big game the ratings nosedive.
Are you a child ?
He's a joke!
what was the most watched Bowl Game=Alamo Bowl
It would be VERY interesting to actually reveal the national audience numbers for BYU!! Alamo Bowl had two huge crowd draws: in no particular order Shedeur/Hunter combo AND BYU!!
Herbstreit is the most boring color analyst.
Watch refs ignore NDAME holding and other calls vs Penn st tonight so they get NDAME vs OSU 🏆 game
It is fun to watch the lot lizards of the truck stop conference claiming they are super models
@paulsears1627 Texas was able to recruit as a future SEC school and dominated the big 12 on their way out.
You must have been sleep when Texas almost lost to a big 12 team. You bringing up the past. Get off the past. Texas didn't play any hard teams. When they did they lost. Facts.@@ReisterJP
You guys are a joke
Why are you upset that Herbstreit said what we already know? When is the last time an existing Big 12 brand had a TV rating higher than any of the semifinal teams? He was asked a direct question and he answered honestly. Had he not answered honestly you'd also be upset.
Texas vs Arizona State had higher viewership ratings than UGA vs ND and Penn State was dead last....ASU got 4 million more views than Penn State.
It violates the cease and desist and gives the Big 12 grounds for a lawsuit.
Just like pointing out that PSU played a night game, ASU played a weekday game at 1pm and still logged 4 million more views.
@@Goeers206 Most viewed teams in 2024 regular season: #2 TX, #3 OSU, #8 PSU and #9 ND. Only two Big 12 teams finished in the top 25. Colorado finished #6 but the next closest was Iowa State at #21. Again, use common sense.
Another SEC envy video. Go figure.
