    Colorado TV rankings are Dion’s TV rankings. If Dion leaves to coach a Big Ten team, those ratings will follow.
    Then where will Colorado rank?

    Great video gentlemen! I agree that the 2 best targets for now for the Big Ten are Florida State and Miami. I don't see them going past 20 unless Notre Dame is a part of the package.
    This is all contingent on if the Super League never happens. If it does, all bets are off.

    In the short term the best fox for the ratings problem for the later games is if USC returns to being a natty contender. Also there is going to be pressure on Michigan and Ohio State to host night
    games

    This was a great video! Several takeaways:
    1. Deion is a walking gold mine
    2. Nebraska, despite being a bad team for two decades, still draws viewers
    3. The "downticket" SEC games are consistently rated higher
    Good stuff ... learned a lot. Thanks!

    Your best video ever! B1G moved forward with the 4 additions. If Bill Bellicheck sticks around at UNC could we see a “Deion” ratings affect for UNC? I could definitely see FSU & Miami in the B1G. I could also see GT in the B1G. The question would be would the B1G be able to get UNC? If they did the B1G might attract attention from Texas A&M to jump. Then B1G might go to ND and say now or never.

    I think with Colorado, a lot of it is definitely the Dion affect. But you also need to consider they had a diamond in the rough with Travis Hunter that brought more eyes, paired with his son who was putting up Heisman worthy numbers. So I think a few things led to their ratings.

      @robertofraire4102 You can say that. But with this tv contract, the Big 10 will probably get 110 million dollar payouts by the end of it. You're possibly looking at 130-160 million payouts in the mid 2030's. The SEC will be around that as well. If those schools get to those numbers. Who is gonna pay Notre Dame 70-85 million a year for 6 games? It's kinda a fact that Notre Dame has to hit a lot of bench marks to hit the the high end money numbers they have in their new deal now. And the facts are we still have no clue what college sports looks like with the salary cap. I know Notre Dame wants to be independent. But you're asking a whole lot, assuming it's just gonna happen. This is a new horizon in college sports. You should prepare yourself today for what may change tomorrow. Expecting your donors to pay more and more and a tv network to pay more and more so you can stay independent. Nobody owes Notre Dame that. College sports is gonna start costing way too much. And the cost will not come down ever again.

    • @lorenzohaynes3886
      @lorenzohaynes3886 Годину тому

      @robertofraire4102 It may be a good idea for you to look up Nick Sabans' interview where he talks about donor fatigue. Costs and student athlete's financial demands are going up. Donors are getting sick of answering the phones, shelling out 4 million for players that will leave in 16 weeks. I know the talk is always about tv contracts. But this model is not sustainable. It's less sustainable for a school that's independent. College athletics has a new model. Pay attention.

  • @ninRAIDER
    @ninRAIDER 2 дні тому +2

    You have to take into account that the Big Noon time slot is the most valuable time slot in college football due to it having the most eyeballs in the Central and Eastern timezones. Oregon and the rest of the other west coast B1G teams are guaranteed to NOT play in that time slot by contract due to it's 9am kickoff on the west coast, putting these teams at an inherent disadvantage when it comes to TV ratings. That inhrerent decreased TV value is in fact the root of why the Pac 12 fell apart in the first place.
    Also, Colorado's TV value is extremely inflated currently due to Deion Sanders and is not sustainable once he leaves. As a brand they aren't worth it for the B1G longterm even if they look attractive right now. And, yes, I completely agree that Florida State and Miami should be the B1G's top targets from the ACC footprint for many reasons.

      Texas is difficult. If A&M would reach out and say to the Big 10 we want to join, then you grab them. But that is about a 1% chance. Who else? SMU? TCU? Florida more likely (especially Miami). Why? SEC has no interest in Miami. The most logical pairing is Miami and Florida St. but if FSU goes SEC, USF or UCF are fallback options to go with Miami.

      Yeah. When I typed that, I knew it needed more context because Oregon fans would take offense to the assertion.
      Since the video referenced TV ratings, there was only 2 games Oregon played that drew a rating around 4.million. Meaning sometimes when Oregon is playing a school, they are not the TV draw but their opponent is.
      Oregon is not overvalued. The coverage they get is outsized compared to their accomplishments in some people's opinions. When USC is really good, a lot of people watch them. This is arguably the best Oregon football has ever been, the country barely watches them.

    Obviously ND is the school that checks all the B1G boxes ( probably with Stanford, unless they asked for BC in return for going B1G (the Eagles do bring hockey)). But leaving them aside, it is obvious that Florida St from a TV and academics perspective makes perfect sense. I am a NO on Clemson. Why? I live in that Greenville/Asheville Market where Clemson is. Very small and questionable academics. Miami is a better choice ( TV market and academics). As for Colorado, they make sense even without Deon. Why? They ( along with ASU) bridges the gap between Nebraska and the west coast and would bring the B1G the fast growing Denver and Phoenix TV markets.

    Sorry guys, but I don't feel sorry for NBC. Those geniuses had the rights to broadcast Louisville-Notre Dame in week 4, and refused to allow it to be broadcast, and therefore was not Nielsen rated. That was a 4-6 million TV contest that NBC threw away, not even bothering to say, "No thanks!" You also may be over estimating Miami's ability to draw TV viewers. Yes, they had a 4 million game with Louisville, but what happened when they played Duke: 2 million. Hmmm. Miami had the best team that it has had in the last 20 years. I saw more Miami fans this year than I think that I have seen in the past 20 years combined. So they have fans in the good times, but will they have fans in the meh times?

    The Big Ten will dissolve in 2030 because of equal revenue sharing. Just as the PAC 12 dissolved due to equal revenue sharing. Makes no sense for the biggest brands to put up with the unfairness. The biggest brands are going to bolt to form a new conference that allows member schools to negotiate their own TV deals with streaming companies in the market. They see it working great for Notre Dame. The status quo will not continue. And it’s not just the money that will cause Ohio State to bolt. That school is furious about always having to play the Big Noon game. So unfair.

They aren’t leaving the SEC. I can see Miami, Notre Dame and Colorado being the viable candidates that eventually could be realistic. If we see FSU get their AAU within the next 5 to 6 years, they’ll be a viable candidate as well. Maybe Utah with an outside slim chance as well if FSU can’t get their AAU.

Texas and Oklahoma are worth more than these 4 targets. The ACC (ACC Network), SEC (SEC Network) and Big 12 all have ESPN. Nebraska joined the Big 10 when the conference had ESPN. All of those target on the thumbnails are within the ESPN ecosystem. No team is leaving the ESPN ecosystem to join the rival Big 10.

      My brother in Christ, ESPN- all by itself- is singularly responsible for the ongoing implosion of the ACC. Those several members of the ACC will Absolutely go in all different directions, and some of those schools will continue to deal with ESPN in a different capacity (reluctantly I might add) and the rest will absolutely go in a different direction, for better or for worse.
