I MANAGED TO FIX THIS TO WORK ON JAVA EDITION! Now that I have your attention, first just let me say hello to all of you strugglers :) So, there are a few issues you need to fight if you're building this on Java Edition but somehow I just found some quite simple solutions so here's a list of the issues you have to fight and how to solve them: 1.) When you get to 2:22 of the video, you'll find out that even though you time the repeaters right, the top set of pistons will be lifted and the build won't work... This has a simple solution, all you need to do is to put an immovable block at the top of the top two sticky pistons (obsidian works fine, but furnaces are also immovable and cheaper and easier to handle). 2.) When you get to 3:30 of the video, you'll realize the two pistons at the very front won't extend - this is due to weird Java redstone mechanics. To solve this issue, dig one block down the original place of the piston and place a sticky piston down there so that the sticky piston is next to the block powered by the redstone line. Afterwards you'll need to put a slime/honey block at the top of the sticky piston to reach the desired height. Now this will cause problems with the blocks placed at 6:09 (because of the slime/honey block you used) so you need to make sure these two blocks (from 6:09) are also immovable (obsidian or again a furnace, I prefer furnaces - they look similar to stone blocks from the top). 3.) When you have all the setup done with the stairs retraction mechanism and the trapdoors (7:45), the machine will just destroy itself if you try to run it and you'll need to do quite a lot of repairing to restore the damage it has caused. The problem to this are the pistons placed at 4:30 which due to some really shady redstone mechanics just go crazy. To make these pistons work properly, you need to turn them 90° to the side, so the won't be pushing the block towards the entrance of your base but they will push the block to the desired place from the side. So just rotate the piston to the side and take the redstone pulse from the redstone torch placed at 3:58 (you won't need the torches placed at 4:02 any more). Another thing you need to do is to place the redstone torch placed at 7:45 differently, because of the changes we have done earlier. So instead of placing the repeater where it is placed at 7:31, you need to place it next to the block so it will be going to the side of the build, put a block behind this repeater, then put a redstone torch to the side of the placed block and make a redstone line from the torch to connect it to the place which is powered in the video (if you placed the redstone torch at the same place as is shown in the video, this torch wold be now powering the piston above it which you don't want) 4.) At this point the whole build is fully functional. However, I don't know whether it's just my case or it's again a Java problem, but the hopper-dropper T-Flip-Flop does not work for me, so I recommend to use another type of the T-Flip-Flop circuit (I used a circuit with an observer moved by a sticky piston with this observer giving a pulse to another sticky piston after expanding and the second sticky piston pushing/pulling a redstone block which works just fine) . I build this on a survival server, so YES it does work on survival and YES it works on servers. Hope I helped, have fun engineering. :)
This has been super helpful. But, could you elaborate more on where should the repeater/redstone torch be placed after we shift the pistons by 90 degrees?
wow, worked perfectly thanks! also the T-Flip-Flop does work if you add a redstone torch to the side of block with redstone on under the button then have redstone running from that to the bottom dropper that's facing up it works perfectly! :)
@@jad5273 the repeater and the torch afterwards both need to be going outside the build so that neither the repeater or the torch powers anything... after they are placed, take the signal from the torch and connect it to the same place as done in the video

as of today ( april 2nd 2024 ) this still works FOR BEDROCK!! some recommendations if youre struggling: 1. the redstone repeaters have arrows make sure you place them the correct way just how he places them. i didnt know they they had to be place a certain way and that messed me up. (im someone who never touches redstone) 2. IF YOUR PLACING YOURE VERSION OF OBSIDIAN, you HAVE to use obsidian or glazed terracotta (again not a redstone expert but this is crucial i believe these blocks do not mess the redstone) 3. when he says to play a repeater at 1, 2, 3, or 4 ticks, keep in mind that when you place a repeater its automatically on 1 tick, so if you want it at 3 ticks you click it 2 times and so on

This is an excellent video. The instructions are very clear and easy to replicate. I normally struggle to get red stone builds working properly, but I was able to have this running without any problem. Thank you for making this.
My daughter's gonna think I'm a legend. Even though I just watched that entire video and still don't understand how it works. This is getting followed step by step lol.
Was able to enjoy this awesome creation for about a day til I summoned a wither without knowing anything about them it destroyed all of it. Worth rebuilding thank you. I applied your hopper method to my other creations. This taught me so many things
If you are building this and the buttons dont close it put the repeaters connecting the buttons on 2ticks All credit to Steven idk im just posting incase his one gets lost in comments^_^
Hey man, I know you've been through alot and I just want to say that we are here for you no matter what happens. We are behind you in your fight with depression. Continue to be strong we love you!
Over 30 days of survival minecraft to gather material, 4 complete do-overs, final success. NOTE for POCKET EDITION: placing the six obsidian/terracotta blocks during 8:27 will stop the surface grass blocks from, well, surfacing. This must be a new update that altered it. ^^ It was a success after my fifth try and finding this detail! Looks dope! Make that eight tries now -I forgot to lower my droppers by one block... legit screaming inside, but now I actually finished and it was so worth it 🙃
Request for help: the/slime sticks to my block of choice when the stairs extend, when they retract they stay stuck causing failure with the pistons. Im on bedrock and i repeated the tutorial 3 times so it was accurate. How do i fix this?
So clearly depending on what edition you’re on your doing it incorrect if your on Java your dumb this is a bedrock edition you need to do exactly what he does because you must’ve messed up if it’s not working because it works for everybody except you and maybe a few others you need to watch the video and pay better attention
Deeper in the comment section there's a comment that could possibly fix whatever problems you have, the name of the commenter is Patrik Furda (the name could possibly change or the placement of the comment could also do sorry if I'm too late to tell this)
I had to takeout the stone blocks that covers the tiny square openings and put honey and slim blocks instead. The stone blocks blocked the floor pistons from moving. Great idea though. I had fun watching and following along. ^_^
I honestly never felt motivated to try any of these cool staircases but I suddenly want to make one and I don't even have my computer out! Your videos are honestly so powerful ily
Tip: If you mess up you don't have to completely restart, destroy the stairs, and the 4 pistons in the back they should be out of place. Then destroy the dirt and 5 honey and slimes on top and replace in correct open position. After this you should be good. Hope this helps.
I accidentally got water on my redtsone and it fucked up my entire thing. I tried fixing it but made it worse and then somehow one side went up and the other didn’t. I think I may have to get rid of everything and do it again and I had already built this long ago I just was mining around and water got in ugh
When I run the first test to make sure. It brings it all up, but when it brings it down. The mechanic gets stuck and two of the sticky pistons don't retract the way it's suppose to leaving a gap of the raised jelly and pistons.
THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT I BEEN LOOKING FOR SO LONG I NEEDED THIS FOR AGES I've been trying to figure this out forever Thank you so much I'll let you know if it works
Fed impacted my life is a positive way, and I'm thankful for it. I had some issues at home, so I would get my Xbox up and ready to go on Minecraft, pop up a video of Fed and impress my friends with his redstone knowledge. (Note: I later told them who I looked at for the redstone builds, and they became fans of the mad lad.) Keep it up Fed, I hope your life is getting better and better. :3
Thank you for the tutorial. Went smooth. I took your design and used it in a field of ladybugs. Put the base inside one of them and ran the button to the back of one of the eyes. Even installed a piston door in the back of the ladybug that is connected to the entire system. Works awesome. Keep up the awesome work!!
Just built this in bedrock 1.20.15 and works perfectly. Converted it to 1 wide tunnel. Built my trading hall and didn't have any storage space. Built a basement to store things using this contraption to get down there. Love it!
this is sick! love stuff like this. works great on ps4/5 version, you just have to place the right side sticky pistons AFTER placing your right side honey/slime at the very beginning or that side will stay open
So I spent the time to make this and the last two hours of my life trying to diagnose why it wasn't working. It seems that the hony/slime blocks from the stair extender are sticking to the dirt on the hidden floor and then everything stops working. Both work fine on their own, it's just very frustrating that they don't work together.
This is awesome, I spent hours trying to build different secret doors, and eventually I found this one and decided to give it a try, by this point I was quite enraged, and was so happy with it. Simple and easy to understand, compact from the outside, and I love that all the red stone is nicely closed up behind you so it really does feel secret and sleek. Thank you, this saved me haha 😂
It worked on my pocket edition did some put some immovable objects on some of the pistons because some of it just keeps going out of place and make sure all of the ticks on your reapeters are the same on both sides if its not thats why its not working btw make sure your in *BEDROCK* edition
I have tried a million tutorials for different mechanics in Minecraft and haven’t really ever been successful. I always thought maybe I’m just an idiot but when I did this one it worked first try! No I suspect I just need very detailed instructions 😅 subscribed immediately and can’t wait to try more!
It would be nice if there was a java friendly version. I know someone posted modifications below that allow it to work in java but it's hard to follow their modifications and the video without missing something that can, potentially, ruin the whole machine that forces you to restart.
Me again, just finished building this again on my own realm this time, i broke it twice when water got in, but with experience gained in this last year i managed to fix it, and that experience also helped me extend the redstone for the upper switch and hide it in a wall, so once again i say thank you
Is it just me or does this not work at all 2:27 the pistons will extend and stuff but in the wrong order and then wont retract properly, im 100% certain that the redstone is identical to how it is in the video :/
Worked only once. Built it three times. UPDATE: So I am not real sure I am thinking this is for JAVA only, Great video and thanks for posting. Liked and Subscribed.
Defiantly one of the best Redstone tutorials that I have watched. I built this hidden staircase in my Minecraft world, and it worked great. Awesome and really helpful video. Thank you
I got really lucky and I happened to spawn a beehive on my second oak sapling and only move about 10 blocks into my strip mine to find the slime spawn chunk
Works in 1.19 bedrock survival. One block needs to be a slab that is right above the redstone by the door button at the bottom. Make sure all your repeaters are the right way and have the correct ticks, Definitely use obsidian.
@@cigkiller did you do like he said and put a wooden shovel in it? Only way it'll work, make sure they are all in the direction he showed. For added safer measure use slabs for the whole floor.
N Not sure what im doing wrong but the ticks seem to move the block to right place when turing on levar but wont go back to right position when turning off. Im on Java edition if that rly makes a differance?
I have a question, whenever I open up the staircase to go down and then I go down and I press the button it will not close and the dropper will drop the shovel down to the dropper that is facing up
Easy fix actually, the block directly above the redstone just needs to be made into glass. Other transparent blocks might work, but a couple I tried did not 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve been trying to make this for 5days now and I still can’t seem to make it work. I did everything in the exact same way you did, I even used the exact same block just in case. So sad cause I really wanted to make this
Very strange. my first staircase works perfect. My second however works 2-3 cycles and just falls apart. rebuilt 4 times and just cant get it to work. 1. blocks keep getting pulled into the front redstone torch on the block that has one redstone torch on the front and side ive noticed 2. each system works great on its own. its when i connect the 2 systems it starts to mess up (the 4 tick repeater into the block then replace the dust with the torch part) 3. Seems when i dont "watch" it it works better.
Brilliant thank you for this content much appreciated. Really helps me show my young son what redstone can do in minecraft. Nice to have working examples. So many vids I try to replicate and they just dont work on PS4. Thank you, keep up the good work.
Request for help: The button Part keeps messing up the build The stairs gets put in a different place, I spent 2 days building the redstone creation Over and over again, everything else works smoothly. If you know how to fix this Comment, I'm on MCPE Btw

When I run the first test to make sure. It brings it all up, but when it brings it down. The mechanic gets stuck and two of the sticky pistons don't retract the way it's suppose to leaving a gap of the raised jelly and pistons.

I just made this is bedrock 1.20.4 but had to leave out the door as it was messing up the build. Great tutorial!
Thank you for the tutorial. Went smooth. I took your design and used it in a field of ladybugs. Put the base inside one of them and ran the button to the back of one of the eyes. Even installed a piston door in the back of the ladybug that is connected to the entire system. Works awesome. Keep up the awesome work!!

this is sick! love stuff like this. works great on ps4/5 version, you just have to place the right side sticky pistons AFTER placing your right side honey/slime at the very beginning or that side will stay open
Does it work for you with this 3 droppers and the showel? It didn't work for me at all..
Gotta love how bedrock edition causes the top button to just decide to not work at random points in time. So infuriating
Yeah after 1 or 2 flicks the entire thing would get out of sync. Did you figure out a fix for it?

Works in 1.19 bedrock survival. One block needs to be a slab that is right above the redstone by the door button at the bottom. Make sure all your repeaters are the right way and have the correct ticks, Definitely use obsidian.

I MANAGED TO FIX THIS TO WORK ON JAVA EDITION!
Now that I have your attention, first just let me say hello to all of you strugglers :) So, there are a few issues you need to fight if you're building this on Java Edition but somehow I just found some quite simple solutions so here's a list of the issues you have to fight and how to solve them:
1.) When you get to 2:22 of the video, you'll find out that even though you time the repeaters right, the top set of pistons will be lifted and the build won't work...
So instead of placing the repeater where it is placed at 7:31, you need to place it next to the block so it will be going to the side of the build, put a block behind this repeater, then put a redstone torch to the side of the placed block and make a redstone line from the torch to connect it to the place which is powered in the video (if you placed the redstone torch at the same place as is shown in the video, this torch wold be now powering the piston above it which you don't want)
4.) At this point the whole build is fully functional.
@@ahmadzeshan9448 i still not quite understand the piston 4:30 fix, could you help me with that?
