I have the Hanwie Tactical Katana and Wakizashi in the trunk of my car as well as the small Cold Steel Viking ax and Spetnaz shovel, the axe and shovel I can claim as tools, but if ever asked why the swords I just say Zombies apocalypse then laugh.
The Stoned Videogame Nerd Actually the last time I was asked about the swords I told the officer I had taken to someone to sell them but the deal didn't go through and I was taken them back home. The edge part you mentioned wouldn't fly with these swords because edges are perfect and razor sharp.
The Stoned Videogame Nerd A blueish tint can also mean the steel has vanadium/chromium properties, I say this because my Del Tin migration period sword's blade has a tint like that and it's made of chromium vanadium steel (Krupp 55). As for keeping the edge on my blades a nice fine tone and oil and few light passes do the trick and I have one of those small Spartan lakonia swords from Windlass, nothing fancy and step forward and stab upwards considering tat's the technique it's made for, will do the trick every time. Of course I keep my 9mm and an extra mag at hand as well because I'm not stupid you know and a sword isn't much good against a gun and I don't want to be known as the fool who brought the blade to a gun fight. As for Chinese swords I like their DaDao broadswords, quite the chopper.
The Stoned Videogame Nerd Well that just plain sucks, That's one reason I proud to be an American, sure we have or problems (so do you these days) but at least we don't have to live under a paranoid nanny state like that, by the way no gun club here I learned how to shoot when I was a kid then Uncle Sam took over from there and yes my gun are loaded (No kids though). In the future when you have rising terrorism due to Merkel's misguided policies you Germans are going to wish you had our freedoms when it comes to guns and I hope you don't become one of those statistics I mentioned.
The Stoned Videogame Nerd Don't have to tell me the Sharps, I fired them before very nice rifles, my favorite is my Marlin 45/70 lever action, 6 shots at 400 grains does the trick very well. As for those other rifles, yes I know what your talking about, been behind many a sniper rifle in my time even the big boy M-82, although my favorite is my M-21.
Slevin Kelevra I *might* do a video on it after the move into the new house. The TLDR of the process is this. 1) I create an image of the basic inlay: imgur.com/a/bZmJI (Software I wrote part of to do this, there is also other software that can do this easily) 2) Based on the image get a count of the rings needed to make the banner and order them. 3) Break the banner up into 5 unit by 5 unit sections. Unit here refers to a 4-1 maille unit which can be woven 4) work through the inlay bit by bit, tracking progress on the image itself. I've wanted to do a video on this for a while, the problem is where it currently hangs is space constrained and I cannot get a full image. Won't be a problem in the new house.
Hello! Thank you for a nice video review! I have a question about around 5:08 when you show the sword rack with various swords on it: the swords are in scabbards. From what I have read I got the impression that keeping swords in scabbards, especially in the long run, is not great for the steel. Wondering if you could share your thoughts on it.
Great collection! It’d be a dream to own that many awesome pieces- but I do have to be a nitpicky jerk about one single item. That’s not a Windlass Knight’s Dagger, but the Soldier’s Dagger- and I’m only sure because it’s my first purchase from them, after wanting one since at least the early 2000s😆 I finally got it a few years ago, and I absolutely love it. I then picked up the Type XIV Arming sword, which I was going to buy back when it was on their sale list for “last chance” before discontinuation, but missed it. I was thrilled to see it again when it came back, and bought it at even more than twice the old sale price. I wasn’t going to regret missing out again. Thanks for the tour of your home- you’ve done a great job with the decorating and displaying your collection.
I have this room tour on my list of favourite room tours on UA-cam! Absolutely love this stuff. I’m curious as to why you went in a different direction with your more recent content? Like I said though this video and your passion for swords and medieval period is admirable.
I'm actually happy to see proper usage of Elder Futhark in your chain banner. It drives me up the wall when I see "ng" and "th" letter for letter in this style of runic writing
10:34- the one with th eround wheel pommel is the Cold steel. I know because that is the first "sword" I ever got lol :D Kinda funny to think that I recently ordered an Albion Ringeck after just a year and a half lol.
Nice collection, I have more Katana's and Chinese swords due to my martial arts background and they are all real. I also have a larger sword that's called a Naginata sword which is huge, 16 inch handle nearly 2 inch wide 32 inch blade that has a secondary edge that 12 inches long on the spine starting just below the point, it's made of traditional San Mai method, otherwise I have swords and other weapons on display in every room down stairs as well (some strategically placed such as the cold steel war hammer and mace) and even my Arms and Armor dark age spangenhelm with horsetail and a few bucklers and viking shield, as for knives of all kinds over a 100 of those the best ones are out to see, my Del Tin Migration Sword (Frankish design from the 7th century is still my favorite though, my first sword and have had it for a long time). That maile banner you made is seriously cool but must weigh a lot, I've put together a hauberk, long sleeveless vest, coif and gloves before and the hauberk is not light so I can only imagine how much the banner weighs and I also saw the Museum Replicas dueling gloves as well on the floor there.
Medieval Review will you do a similar video in the future as an update when your collection has increased? not to say that your collection is small its alot larger than mine i assure you.. but you know how collecting goes.. you start with one item and then you have enough to start you own country ;)
Oh GOSH yes. I'm an Albion guy, and the Windllass Rhin-don is a thing of beauty. While the aesthetics are what awe me, I've heard that the windlass reproduction is actually not half bad.Just not worth the 2K it sells for nowadays.
Fantastic collection! I recall you referencing your Irish heritage in your Albion Gallowglass review, great to see Burton's Meeting on the Turret Stairs taking pride of place! Would you be able to do a review of that bec de corbin by any chance?
For some of them you should check out the art of Edmund Blaire Leighton, I also did a video on him: ua-cam.com/video/NgHNDSFzB-I/v-deo.html The other painting is by Frederick Burton
Awesome collection! You should be very proud of the collection.... As I'm sure you are. Wish I could put together a collection a fraction of what you have.
A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that the more slender, leaf shaped pugio is not a proper historic reproduction. It is, however, taken from a number of original artifacts in the British Museum, that have this same blade profile. I've seen the originals and thought, myself," that's not what people tend to think of as a pugio". Yet, there they are.
Because the poster was given to me for free... Also the official Twinkle and Icingdeath replicas bother me because they look so similar. The books suggest they should look totally different from each other.
Awesome collection! I honestly think I would limit myself to just owning 4 Swords: a Bastard Sword, a Viking Sword, a Katana and a Rapier. But right now I'm still saving up for the first one. maybe after I start buying them I won't stop...
Yes! Thanks for the quick reply.. Is it a authentic copy of a templar sword? Or does it have some modern touches to it... I just wonder if this is exactly how the templar swords looked back in the day
+Martin Svoboda No this is a fantasy decorative sword. a real sword used by templars wouldn't look like that, more likely it would look like a fairly standard arming sword.
Really nice collection!I have been thinking about buying a viking sword for a while, do you have any recomendations? I have been eying up the Albion Huskarl Viking Sword, but not sure if it is the best choice. Mail banner, you are my hero :) Is it welded or riveted?
+Ragatokk Banner is butted rings. neither weld not riveted, since it is decorative and aluminum. You can't go wrong with an Albion, however, I am not a bug fan of their implementation of viking era swords, namely the use of just steel in their hilt furniture. If it were me looking for a viking era sword, I'd look elsewhere, depending on budget maybe a custom piece, or high end production piece. I've not found a viking sword in the high end production range that matched what I like.
What's better than an Albion? Three Albion. Love the idea of them being the last thing you see at the end of the day and first thing you see in the morning. Your partner probably going to disagree with me but you know what I'm getting at:)
I can obviously tell you like Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit telling by your Numenorean and Dwarven helmets. Could you do a video describing the practical uses of some of the weapons and armor throughout the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies? Keep up the great work!
I would like to see you review one of the startfire blades. I did a review on one some time ago and it was not overly positive. It would be nice to see another perspective. Also, how did you convince your wife to let you hang swords all over the house? I'm limited to one little man cave.
+Matthew Jensen (Funny Sword Reviews) We have an understanding. He doesn't interfere with my cosplay, and I don't interfere with his sword collection. It works for us.
+Casey Riley Success in marriage often comes to the seamless merging of individual oddities. I'm glad you both found a system that works. My wife and I have a similar arrangement but it involves less square footage and more yelling.
+Matthew Jensen (Funny Sword Reviews) Lol. I probably won't review a Starfire because I honestly considered them to be high quality SLOs. I might en dup doing a video about them saying this, but I doubt it would be a formal review. I actually really like Starefire swords a lot, but just not as actual swords.
+Medieval Review I have similar feelings. It's hard for me to understand why people buy them though. Is there something they excel at that I am missing?
You remind me of a character from the first season of Vikings.. remember the guy who was the Earls henchman who took that child to bury the Earls treasure?? The guy who Rollo stuck an axe in his chest after Ragnar killed the Earl.. LoL!
Yeah. I live the Metro ATL area and I work for a UA-cam channel named Iraqveteran8888. We did a tour of ATL Cutlery a long time ago. We are going to be at the warehouse sale this May, I hope to see you there!
+Medieval Review hello man I am very satisfied with your channel you have earned a new subscriber, but I have some questions 1) Whats the diff between a Broadsword, Riding sword, and Arming sword 2) Can a halberd pikes spike pierce rivitted chainmail 3) How many strikes will it take to kill a guy in wearing a norman helmet with a mace usually 4) Can chainmail (Rivited) withstand an axe and crossbow with a bodkin crossbow bolt 5) How many longsword u have Thats about I will really appriciate if you reply thanks have a good day
1) These are generally modern descriptive terms, Broadsword is a sword design primarily for cutting with a wide, usually parallel edged, blade. Riding sword is roughly equivalent to Arming sword, though the term riding sword tends to be applied to renaissance period swords in the same style as arming swords. 2) Yes 3) It can take one, it could take many. The human body is both delicate and amazingly resilient. Helmets offer protection, but they are not guarantees. 4) Maille could withstand an axe, the body beneath may not, depends on a multitude of factors. Again, same note as helmets; It offers additional protection, but never a guarantee. Certainly crossbow bolts will get through.
+Medieval Review. i like all your swords. the reviews are well explained. i'll choose any of your sword except the 2 handed great sword. im 5'7. its very hard for me to use that
+Connor Swanson One that I didn't show in the video... I have a close helm with a removable face plate, but that along with most of my armour is in storage. I'd also prefer to wear my coif underneath. I'd also prefer to avoid battle. =)
Do you have any experience with the hanwei Norman sword? I picked up a un used one off sbg classifieds for almost half price just waiting for it to come in.
Well someone is ready for the zombie apocalypse ^_^
I have the Hanwie Tactical Katana and Wakizashi in the trunk of my car as well as the small Cold Steel Viking ax and Spetnaz shovel, the axe and shovel I can claim as tools, but if ever asked why the swords I just say Zombies apocalypse then laugh.
The Stoned Videogame Nerd
Actually the last time I was asked about the swords I told the officer I had taken to someone to sell them but the deal didn't go through and I was taken them back home.
The edge part you mentioned wouldn't fly with these swords because edges are perfect and razor sharp.
The Stoned Videogame Nerd
A blueish tint can also mean the steel has vanadium/chromium properties, I say this because my Del Tin migration period sword's blade has a tint like that and it's made of chromium vanadium steel (Krupp 55).

Of course I keep my 9mm and an extra mag at hand as well because I'm not stupid you know and a sword isn't much good against a gun and I don't want to be known as the fool who brought the blade to a gun fight.
As for Chinese swords I like their DaDao broadswords, quite the chopper.
The Stoned Videogame Nerd

Don't have to tell me the Sharps, I fired them before very nice rifles, my favorite is my Marlin 45/70 lever action, 6 shots at 400 grains does the trick very well.
As for those other rifles, yes I know what your talking about, been behind many a sniper rifle in my time even the big boy M-82, although my favorite is my M-21.
Dude you could arm a small medieval militia!
+JUDAS Lol.
DARTH VAPER DEUS VULT
Mail banner? That is a bit too awesome.
thanks!
+Medieval Review Did you make it out of aluminum?
+VERY NIIICE
anodized aluminum, yes. easier to work with and easier to hang, as it weighs 1/3 that of steel.
+Medieval Review wow, you made that banner? That is amazing!
Executor422 Thanks!
dude hats off to you for spending that much time to make that heraldry banner out of chain mail! Looks awesome! Neat that its a one of a kind
Thanks!
Do you have any videos or pictures of you making it? Would love to see what the process was like
Slevin Kelevra
I *might* do a video on it after the move into the new house. The TLDR of the process is this.
1) I create an image of the basic inlay: imgur.com/a/bZmJI (Software I wrote part of to do this, there is also other software that can do this easily)
2) Based on the image get a count of the rings needed to make the banner and order them.
3) Break the banner up into 5 unit by 5 unit sections. Unit here refers to a 4-1 maille unit which can be woven
4) work through the inlay bit by bit, tracking progress on the image itself.
I've wanted to do a video on this for a while, the problem is where it currently hangs is space constrained and I cannot get a full image. Won't be a problem in the new house.
Medieval Review very interesting - a video on this would be really cool id definitely watch that!
Medieval Review what kind of software did you use?
Sorry I just don’t know how to look for it
If I were a character in an RPG, this is how I want my vendor to be like.
2:46 For those of you wondering, those runes spell "Strength".
A very impressive collection, a.k.a every burglars nightmare.

I've had a copy of the accolade in my house since I was born. I think it might have been a big part in my youngster obsession with knights and such.
That's gorgeous, all of it, gorgeous.
I have this room tour on my list of favourite room tours on UA-cam! Absolutely love this stuff. I’m curious as to why you went in a different direction with your more recent content? Like I said though this video and your passion for swords and medieval period is admirable.
Wow, if you sell all the junk swords you might be able to get another Albion!
I'm actually happy to see proper usage of Elder Futhark in your chain banner. It drives me up the wall when I see "ng" and "th" letter for letter in this style of runic writing
Sweet gaming rig, lots of rare LOTR collectibles, dozens of high tier swords and fun cutters too. This man is living my dream. ;_;

I like the placement of your favorite painting, right behind the main chair so you can look at your wife and favorite painting while you eat.
Love your medieval beard makes you look cool and unique
I've been a fan of yours for a really long time. Keep it up man
This is such a beautiful collection!
a mighty fine collection sir!
It was darn close to a complete tour of my collection. Not sure what else could be covered.
Medieval Review will you do a similar video in the future as an update when your collection has increased? not to say that your collection is small its alot larger than mine i assure you.. but you know how collecting goes.. you start with one item and then you have enough to start you own country ;)
I don't think I will. Mostly because most, if not all things I add to my collection will get a video at some point.
That beard is on point
Cpt Price
I love that picture hanging behind you on your wall - Ive seen it before - very cool!
Please review the ulfbert please!!!!
Love your passion and to finish off with not one but three Albion nice.
Beautiful collection!
I would like to request a review of your Narnia sword "Rinden".
Oh GOSH yes. I'm an Albion guy, and the Windllass Rhin-don is a thing of beauty. While the aesthetics are what awe me, I've heard that the windlass reproduction is actually not half bad.Just not worth the 2K it sells for nowadays.

+MagZee7 Yes, I can review the Bec de Corbin, but I may wait until Autumn... when pumpkins are readily available.
+Medieval Review Great, thank you!
Amazing collection! And some parts of your house looks like an ancient castle, very cool!
Love your work. Tell me more about the paintings on the walls.
For some of them you should check out the art of Edmund Blaire Leighton, I also did a video on him: ua-cam.com/video/NgHNDSFzB-I/v-deo.html
The other painting is by Frederick Burton
This makes Skall's collection look sad and small :0
I love your floor standing sword rack for your Medieval swords,Did you make that yourself very nice...
+Lucky Brooks The large one? yes: imgur.com/a/5H030
Awesome collection! You should be very proud of the collection.... As I'm sure you are. Wish I could put together a collection a fraction of what you have.
Could you please make a review on the Windlass Ulfberht sword. I am thinking about buying it.
Man. I want a review on the Windlass falchion. Needa see it 🙀
A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that the more slender, leaf shaped pugio is not a proper historic reproduction. Have You ever tried the Munich Town Guard?. Beautiful sword.
That's a badass collection!
Oh man could you do a short video on the Gondorian shield?
Id like to see a review of that ryumon tanto forsure.
albion ringeck looks so good, i want one!
Can you do a review on the windlass early Spanish sword. That would be great
Fantastic! Quite an impressive collection.
That banner is impressive. Well done!
I seen that painting before but have no idea if its a historical painting or what?
By the gods, man, you sure have a lot of weapons! I hope that one day I will end up with as many swords as you have.
9:00 ALL HAIL THE SPIDER QUEEN.
How do you have that poster but no Twinkle and Icingdeath replicas?
Because the poster was given to me for free... Also the official Twinkle and Icingdeath replicas bother me because they look so similar. The books suggest they should look totally different from each other.
Could you please review the Windlass Seax?
I know this is really late, but could you review one of your starfire forge swords please?
I love that shirt, where'd you get it?
Can you do a review of the windlass steelcrafts "Long Sword "? That would be great
+Jimmy Neutron ! The Roven?
Awesome collection!
I honestly think I would limit myself to just owning 4 Swords: a Bastard Sword, a Viking Sword, a Katana and a Rapier.
But right now I'm still saving up for the first one. maybe after I start buying them I won't stop...
+Cesar “Isaac” Perez Make sure those first 4 are awesome, and you don't need more.. until the collecting bug bites you.
i think 4 or 5 swords is enough for me. at the moment ive got a tizona sword and a katana
sweet albions i have a crecy and fiore going to order the agincourt soon..
Skallagrim actually had some issues with the lowlander. I think the guard came loose and start to rattle around very easily.
+DVSKATE Yes he did. It's partially because it is a screw pommel and partially because the fittings aren't super tight.
Hi, great channel, I hoped you were going to talk about it but unfortunately you didn't, is it a templar sword between those decorative ones? thanks
this one? www.medievalcollectibles.com/p-9814-knights-templar-sword-with-plaque.aspx
Ok, thanks! One more subscriber for you ;)
Thats a cool collection loved them helms pretty class man 👍👍👍
man I love those paintings I really do. where do you got them from?
Really nice collection!I have been thinking about buying a viking sword for a while, do you have any recomendations? I have been eying up the Albion Huskarl Viking Sword, but not sure if it is the best choice.
Mail banner, you are my hero :)
Is it welded or riveted?
+Ragatokk Banner is butted rings. neither weld not riveted, since it is decorative and aluminum.
You can't go wrong with an Albion, however, I am not a bug fan of their implementation of viking era swords, namely the use of just steel in their hilt furniture. I can obviously tell you like Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit telling by your Numenorean and Dwarven helmets. Could you do a video describing the practical uses of some of the weapons and armor throughout the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies? Keep up the great work!
hmm, maybe.
hmm, maybe.
2:50 looking at your mail banner, the word at the top is "Strength" FYI
Can you do a review of Sting?
amazing collection. i really like your videos btw and can't believe they don't have more views.
+charles norris I don't think they get shared a lot. Most of my views likely come from subscribers.
consider it liked subbed and Favorited. unfortunately i am highly inactive on social media.
You should be wearing a clanking suit of armor whilst giving us a tour of ypur castle keep sir fig of newton .
Can you do a review on the Kris #2 from Traditional Filipino Weapons?
tons of lotr stuff i love it
I'm a big Tolkien fan.
It's a mighty shame that there's very few functional reproductions of the films swords. Most of them would be great as weapons.
Very true, if someone made screen accurate functional versions, I'd be buying them up.
Darksword armory has a few. The Anduril in particular is gorgeous.
But they are not screen accurate.
Can you do an updated version
do you need some kind of documents for owning a sword (like you need for a gun)?
I like Ultima Avatar's sword as well. Your camera crew catches up on the Gondorain banner quite quick.
Yesss thanks medieval review!
I would like to see you review one of the startfire blades. I did a review on one some time ago and it was not overly positive. It would be nice to see another perspective. Also, how did you convince your wife to let you hang swords all over the house? I'm limited to one little man cave.

Stage Combat. They pretty much hold up forever. And they ring very loud when stuck against one another.

Where is your horse, did you park it in the garage

I've reviewed 2 of them. check out the Brandenburg and Christus Imperat reviews.
I'll check them thx!
Do you live in GA? I always saw starfire swords at the Ren Fair here.

Yeah. I live the Metro ATL area and I work for a UA-cam channel named Iraqveteran8888. We did a tour of ATL Cutlery a long time ago. We are going to be at the warehouse sale this May, I hope to see you there!

Which helmet would you rather wear in a battle?
+Connor Swanson One that I didn't show in the video... I have a close helm with a removable face plate, but that along with most of my armour is in storage. I'd also prefer to wear my coif underneath. I'd also prefer to avoid battle. =)
