I have made this recipe a number of times now. It never fails. I usually have to cook an extra hour because my batch is bigger. Thx for the recipe. It is always a hit.
Made this last night. We’ve tried so many slow cooker recipes but I had the time and wanted to try these. I don’t think I’ll ever go back. This was wonderful and hubby liked it so much he didn’t say a word until his plate was clean except grunts of appreciation. :) sharing with everyone!
I use the biggest pot I have and Lard. I do mine the most simple way possible, I use only Salt, Garlic and a touch of Cumin. Nothing sweet. I add the garlic and cumin at the end so it doesn't burn. I've looked at a few recipes online and just don't see Cumin, but some place on East Los I got Carnitas Tacos had a noticeable Cumin taste and cooking it in was the only way I could replicate the color, taste and texture I was looking for.
Angelica, I made this recipe for my family last night and did everything exactly as you instructed. My family was astounded, as was I! By far, the best taco meat I have ever eaten. *WOW* My 15-year-old son was devouring them. I was so happy! I make so many of your recipes and they are ALL hits. Thank you for sharing all that you do! God bless you + yours. xo

This is so great to hear! Wow! Thank you guys so much. God bless you and your family. I appreciate you watching and supporting my channel. 😊
@ , Jina Kay Henry did you keep the lid off the pot for the entire cooking time? It looks like that's the way you did it, just want to confirm, thanks.
I just made this recipe for dinner. My family LOVED it. Cooking is my new hobby and your recipes are definitely on my list! I am literally on your channel all throughout my days.
I've made this recipe twice now and added a little more garlic cloves and seasoning (rosemary, pepper) The carnitas come out out so good, I don't think I'll ever go to the carneceria to buy some. Thank you! Also I'm so happy to see your salsas are "whatever is in my fridge/kitchen" because that's life. Other channels make it complicated. Great for people that plan to make the recipe but most of us really do open up the fridge and hope for ingredients to be there. It's empowering for you to show how you can come up with it and tie it all in.
Eating cholesterol does not raise your cholesterol. Cholesterol is essential to our bodies. This is why our body makes new cholesterol when we don't consume it.
This is not going to raise your cholesterol. It is all natural so your body knows what to do with this food. It is not going to be low calorie, but even that won't be too bad if your lard is hot enough. Stop worrying about your cholesterol.
Omg! I made this for dinner and it was bomb! Everyone loved it. It was soooo good... It made me sleepy lol. Thanks for the recipe. This is probably my favorite. I'll be cooking it again.
Wow, I see I was not the only who had to take a nap 1 hour after eating this recipe because I was so sleepy felt really relaxing though, I wonder which ingredient caused this? Thinking maybe the evaporated milk...who knows was good either way ...
Tyvm I never knew about them crazy ingredients. I sure love Carnitas though. I used to get them at the corner food truck all the time. Since I moved I couldn't find any decent place to get them. Now thanks to you I'm back in business lol.
Omg that looks so amazing!! I've been wanted carnitas so bad since I move from Los Angeles to Alaska 12 years ago! No one know authentic Mexican food here so I'm so glad I found your video I can't wait to try this. Thank you so much!!
I've been practising, and these carnitas will be served on Christmas Day this year! (we're bored of turkey) Thanks, with luv from rural northern England x
I have been trying for months to perfect my carnitas recipe. I tried yours yesterday and it was by far the best I have ever had!!! Soooo delicious!!!!!
I'm JUST starting out cooking and it's been fun with my wife.. That being said I followed your recipe to the T and it was BOMB!! I impressed my whole family. Thank you so much for this tutorial 😊
When I was growing up Mom always used lard to fry things in. She made the best fried chicken using lard. all pie crusts were with lard. on and on. This is a recipe that I will surely try.
@@mrs.o7486 Actually it's healthier than butter and conventional oils. Please do your research. U.K and Canadian health studies have proven it too be so much better to lower bad cholesterol levels.
I lost my mom about a year ago too. And my dad followed months after her. So I'm feeling you 😭. And here I am watching videos on some recipes. Ones I never got a chance to get from her. It's not like I can call and ask her. No abuelitas either.
In the past I would only boil the meat and the fry or broil it to make it appetizing to my family but now this is the only way I make our carnitas💓. I've made it like this for over a year now and we are very happy with your recipes.l
Thank you so much for posting this. My mother has this huge heavy pot, looks like half of a 300 gallon propane tank. I've been begging her not to give it to any one else as I thought that was the only way I'd ever be able to make them as good as hers. Seeing this video gives me hope that I won't need that huge thing to get that rich braised flavor of carnitas. I will be making these this week.
Omg! I've never cooked pork .. this looks excellent, my mouth is watering like crazy good. I'm going to try this recipe. Thank you so much for sharing.
OMG it's very early in the morning and I'm dancing in my kitchen cause it smells sooo incredible😋 You make me a better cook thank you. I can't wait to show my daughters this recipe for their families❤️

"If you're worried about your cholesterol you probably shouldn't be eating carnitas." I'm in love with this statement.

Cholesterol is raised by carbohydrates and sugar not fat 🤷🏽♂️
If you're worried about cholesterol, you're worrying about the wrong thing

Great recipe. When you finish simmering the salsa - does the simmer water get blended or discarded? Thanks

Nice. You should try cooking your salsa ingredients in a hot pan with oil for a batch. You’ll get a more complex flavor due to the caramelization.
