Is it really that hard to see the appeal of an attractive anime character? I've thought this way since I was like 10 years old. It's beautiful art without any ulterior motives.
Well blame the lack of understanding/common sense in people these days. False/misunderstood information about the topic follows as well. 😑 Also, fiction is fiction for the will of light.
CreatorsFreedom!!! No, no art can be fixed as there’s nothing to fix, whether it’s degenerate or not, it’s just the artists vision which nobody can fix.
That disparity in height exists in reality. I'm 185 cm and my friend is 149 cm. Said friend even looks like Uzaki! People whining about things because that's all they can do rather than being happy.
I also know a girl from my community college who is rather short along with other women with body types from people in their 20s, people online would consider “young”. I wonder what my friend’s reaction would be when we go back to campus and talk about this show.
People think UZAKI is a kid, but mentioned when she started as an freshman in college she was already 18 years old, currently 20 years old. She is short due to genetics, mentioned by both of her parents, majority of her family is short. When Uzaki’s voice actor did an vtuber experience, she said: Hello this is Uzaki, I am a sophomore in college and playing games with senpai. There are people who have body types like Uzaki in real life even. Nobody even tried to think of how Eren is 15 when he joined Levi’s squad. Shirou from Fate is only 17 years old and Jotaro from Jojo bizarre adventure was 17 only and people don’t have a problem with that. Giorno from JoJo part 5, is only 15 and is fit and tall for one too. People think that uzaki is too much for people, yet there are other people who does think people like the male’s mention above is ok for age wise.
They don't care, her "looking like a child" is just a red herring the real reason is because they just don't like anime and they want to either ban it or corrupt it like western media.
@@1810jeff They have never obviously met people who are either petite or look really young despite them being way past 20 years old. Case in point, people still don't believe that I am in my 30s. XD
It's because they didn't have a plan on trying to take over anime back then. They're doing it now because anime is getting more and more popular and they want to take over every Avenue of entertainment they can to spread their agenda of making entertainment inherently political instead of entertaining.
The "Uzaki looks like a child" or the "she is an unrealistic character" arguments are just red herrings. The real reason is because a large amount of people of most political beliefs see anime as a threat either it being degenerate or it being objectifying for women. The ultimate goal is to either ban it or corrupt it, we cannot let either happen.
Heck, people who know she's an adult still try to say Uzaki is promoting pedophilia. she looks like a child, therefore she is I'm 27, but some people think I'm 19. I know of a girl who looks like she's 14 but is in her early 20s. I once met a man who was in his late 30s but looked like he was 25. people who look younger than they is more common than most people realize. with these people yelling out that Uzaki is a child because she looks like one and it's so disgusting, it makes it sound like you should be shamed for looking younger than you are. but that's just how I feel about it
@@superzilla784 Yeah that's why I say it's a red herring, because if they said the real reasons why they hate anime it would show them for what they truly are, either puritans who don't like Japan's nonchalant attitude towards sex or as man haters who seek to destroy anything enjoyed predominantly by men.
@@superzilla784 Same issues here. It's already bad enough getting the "ID'd for a while 😉" jokes constantly. Hearing that "short = child" mindset *plus* "problematic height difference" just makes my 5'3" ass see red every time.
Same here. I love the anime and the manga. Even took up writing again, and making some Uzaki-chan fanfiction stories. Haven't felt this inspired in years.
What Japan needs to do is more Shortstack characters. Actually short women who are not Loli in design but curvy. I could only count a few actually popular ones. Nero from fate extra is one. Gonda from elf San wa is a more curvy one. Uzaki I'll put in it as she has a little sister. Most mainstream one is la brava from my hero academia and we should see more of this as it promotes to everyone left and right of the argument. Also don't use buzzwords everyone as that's control of your words and we have words that already make the point anyways. Worst example are incel simp and cis as all of them make no sense in context and out of it. Be smart and don't do it as it just ruins the community as a whole same as localization anime not translated
I can immagine the character uzaki laughing like crazy over this like "you spend your days in social media instead of having a life and think you are saving humanity for being offended over someone else's apearance?" (Insert smug maniacal uzaki laughter here). Well they did something good tho, they made her so dang famous! Tried to cancel her instead made her better well known!!! You gotta love the irony! (Drinks tweeter puritan's tears)
I haven’t watched Uzaki-Chan’s anime (yet) but the drama still hits home. The crowd criticizing her is the same one intimidating Marvelous over Senran Kagura’s next title being developed. I can’t stand people barging in on stuff they don’t give a damn about. Anywho, another top tier video as always 👍
A lot of people keep on saying that she's an adult to SJWs but they never listen or do even a little bit of research on the subject matter. Logic doesn't work on them nor is pointing out their hypocrisy. All they really care about is how much retweets, likes, etc. they get. To counter that the Uzaki fans wanted the anime to be more popular to piss off those people. Either way because of how the argument between both sides blew up so much, the SJW's got their retweets or whatever and the Uzaki fans got "Uzaki-chan wants to hang out" into the top summer animes list and top heroine of the summer. In a twisted way both sides got what they wanted but nobody is happy about it.
Uzaki-chan is actually closer to reality than we think. People in asia age in slower way. Many idols that look like teenagers are in fact in their mid 30s. Many actors that play in korean dramas look like if they were teenagers when in reality they are in their 30s. Hideo Kojima looks like if he was in his mid 30s when in reality he is 57. Mai Kadowaki (Illya voice actor) is nearly 40 years old. However, she still looks like she was in her 20s. ua-cam.com/video/V3cz8GaitTE/v-deo.html
Yeah and the funny part is anime actually sometimes matures up the girls since Japan women are more on the short side Medusa is a good example as she thinks she is tall but anywhere else in the world she would be short and everyone else even shorter than that. Same with Nero who is super short but nobody made a stink about it as we saw her naked and kiss hakuno. Plus if they want short they should see uzakis sister an actual short big boob girl instead.
Anime has never really made me into a MAP or a Minor Attracted Person per se, even though I collect hentai and R34 artworks of certain characters as well, but not once have I had any interests in actual children, it's just ridiculous that people will make scapegoats out anime and use it to make strawman issues so they can get more PR points and show which side their own I mean look at Australia when Senator Stirling Grif made a proposal about banning anime and he also cherry picked certain anime like Eromanga Sensei, Goblin Slayer, SAO, No Game No Life, and others he considered problematic, then Connie Borneros decided to ban light novels and manga from Australia, Amazon banning anime figurines because it promotes "Child exploitation" along with banning light novels and manga from its site as well, and finally a South Florida Congressman candidate K.W. Miller decided to rail against anime saying it's Chinese socialist propaganda and it's problematic by flooding hentai into our internet, I mean seriously 2020 is just pathetic!
Another thing to know about cuties: the creators did not market like this when the film was independent and shown at festivals as the movie is about social pressures young girl’s face at early ages due to over sexualisation. It was made to see it all in a negative light. Netflix took it on and decided to market in the way you know it to be now, disgusting and sad. Makes me wonder who is calling the shots for advertising over there
Are you sure that's what the directors said about the movie? While I am sort of guilty of condemning _Cuties_ for oversexualization of children an not realizing that it is actually critiquing oversexualization, it was too little, too late. Millions of people from the moderate left all the way to the dissident right condemn it because of Nexflix's bad marketing and that is not to mention Nexflix has a long track record of presenting far-left propaganda so I can't blame them.
Louis XIV (aka 1685Violin) honestly, after seeing some clips on IG from the movie, I am falling more on the condemning side, it still looks god awful land does what it was supposed to set out to stop. Not supporting or watching that
@@eveabeytaragland2759 Well, I agree with you now. My opinion has changed to thoroughly condemning it as Sargon of Akkad made a part two of the _Cuties_ debacle titled _Nonceflix: Part Deux_ . It turned out to be worse than I had thought.

14:45 The thing about Abby is that the video games journos and Neil Druckman kept beating everyone over the head about wanting to represent "realistic women" in their games. They made Abby for that. So pointing out that Abby is not realistic is holding them accountable.

This anime/M.A.P. issue is actually quite a melting pot of multiple issues. WARNING: LONG TEXT. You see, first, this POV bias that "this anime girl is a kid because she looks like one" comes from the old Western biased belief that all "cartoons" are "for kids". Why such a belief? Because back in the day, cartoons in the west, especially in the US, Australia, Canada, etc. who have the most vocal participants against Japanese anime/manga/novels, cartoons were made to entertain children. The existence of cartoons grew to become the kind of TV shows and movies that the typical western parent would be able to tune in on the TV, leave their children there to entertain themselves, and be able to do the stuff that adults have to do in their busy lives. In other words, this belief is built on adults and parents relying on cartoons to parent their children for them. To get them off their backs when they're busy doing other stuff adults do. Thus, the ideology that "cartoons are for kids" was born. Unfortunately, modern day anime, manga, and light novels, aren't made that way anymore. They are no longer just for kids and are actually mostly for teens and young adults, even going so far as being made for actual adults. This is where one of the "ideological rifts" appear between these western folks and with Japanese consumers of said media. These western folks simplify the entire subject of Japanese pop-culture media as "for kids" and simply refuse to accept that there are other points of view and reasons other than their own. Remember when people in the west, mostly adults and parents, started blaming "video games" and "anime/manga" for the myriad of cases where children, teens, or young adults, did something violent? Like for example, school-shootings, or self-offing, or plain the violence towards others. These folks insisted that these mediums teach their children "problematic" things which causes them to go buy guns at a Walmart and shoot somebody, or grow up into a hoodlum. Why that belief? Well, going by what I've said above, these are the type of people that left their young to be parented by TV and other things like the internet or computer games. To them, they've done nothing wrong as parents, when virtually, they lacked in the actual "parenting" department of a child's growth. Said violent young individuals didn't go shoot somebody in real life just because he or she played a round of COD online or had to defeat bandits in an ARPG with blood and gore. No. They most probably felt and had mental health and emotional issues that they couldn't consult to their friends and their already absent parents to begin with. Even worse, some of them may have even been badly influenced by their peers and environment (like bullying, high-crime-rate neighborhoods, drugs, etc.). As part of one of the most basic psychological defensive reactions humans have which is "Denial", these folks who cannot accept they are wrong-or have done something wrong-or did not do something right, push the blame towards things like games and anime. Now we go into these people and their issue about anime promoting "M.A.P." Arguably, most of these vocal minorities don't really watch anime or read manga and light novels, which is apparent if you look at their "arguments" with most fans who come to defend these media. These folks carry the same western bias that "cartoons are for kids" and they also have "closed minds" so they are "bound" to their one-sided view that Japanese anime, manga, novels, are all drawn and designed with the characters mostly possessing child-like features "because they are meant to be children and are for kids only". Because their minds are closed to facts that come from others, they do not accept that these aren't just for kids, and most importantly, they cannot identify the difference between different art-styles each studio or mangaka/artist has for their drawings and literature. Again cartoon/2D >>> For kids. With their bias in mind, these folks then look at the people who consume them with the mindset that "These people are consuming media for kids." However, since anime and manga often have art-styles that are designed to make characters beautiful or attractive to certain tastes and tropes, you'll eventually see characters wearing revealing outfits or have fantasy-levels of bountiful proportions. This causes these biased people to also think "This is probably because they like children in sexualized clothing.", thus the claim that "anime and manga is for M.A.P.s" Unfortunately, many of these biased folks are also mostly deranged people with varying degrees of mental and emotional issues. Some of the main reasons they attack Uzaki-chan is primarily because of "self-projection", "denial", "self-loathing", and "need of validation". They self-project themselves against the design of a fictional character who bears the traits "cute", "attractive", "has *assets* that many men and women find sexually attractive", among other things like "she's popular". Obviously, not many people can be all that in the real life, and most of these folks have some level of inferiority complex that gets their feathers ruffled when they self-project towards Uzaki-chan. They are very vocal and hurl any of their biased (but to their limited minds) "logical" arguments against Uzaki-chan, because they are in denial of their inferiority and complexes after self-projecting. Again, "you're at fault, not me" is their game. A.k.a. The blame game. Otherwise, they would have to admit their loss in the matter. They are in a stage of self-loathing, hating something or feeling a sense of "lacking" about something in their own selves which also fuels their denial and self-projection. This goes into a loop, and thus we have them venting on the internet. They are venting on the internet in a very vocal way because they want somebody to tell them "you're right" or "you're not wrong". Basically, they want to feel validated, by somebody else, because they cannot feel that they can accept their own imperfections and basically their very selves. Uzaki-chan's character design falls into a "Grey Zone" that fits everything above for these people so they are so against this one character. 1.) She is drawn in a way that is typical for SOL comedy anime/manga, but to them that art-style is indiscernible from kids' cartoons. 2.) She has tig ol' bitties which is the trait of a teen or an adult which is seen as attractive in real-world standards for "sexy women". Her being cute also falls into the attractive factor. 3.) She is popular, successful, and people defend her. These are just some of the reasons why Uzaki-chan has been specifically targeted like this by people like them. She pretty much triggers all the right flags for them to go "REEEEEEEE!" The sad thing about all of this is that these same people are so drowned in their own hubris that they don't realize they are actually the same people pushing forward the "problematic" things they claim to be against. The claim "acceptance and inclusivity", "gender constructs and fluidity", "free sexuality", and many other things. But in doing so, they are actually promoting that "M.A.P.s" are not criminals that must be arrested, as well as the creation and normalization of things like "injecting hormones into young children", "celebrating a kid on drag dancing on a strip club", and a movie about "a twerk dance group for little kids exploring sexual things", all of which are of REAL PEOPLE, not fiction. This has gotten really long, but I'm under the opinion that these kinds of people must be put under psychological and mental health therapy, disconnected from social media and the internet, and actually be made to experience more of real life than online life. That is what will help these people more than just venting online. In Japan, anime, manga, light novels, and many other stuff like alcohol and tobacco, are all regulated by law. Kids aren't allowed to buy what are stated by the law as not for kids. People get arrested for violating that, actually. And, most people actually follow the law there, out of pure common etiquette and discipline. Of course, some people prefer the less-savory means, but it takes a level of comprehension to actually seek out something and obtain it that way, and people who do that will do that regardless. What is happening on the west right now is a spread of mental derangement of varying degrees. This is exacerbated by mainstream and social media manipulating the "trends". Mainstream and social media, which are both manipulated by political agenda and whoever has the cash flowing behind the scenes. It's just sad that there are so many "sheep" in a sea of people. And they are none the wiser.
@@someguywithabirdface2583 Yes, there are differences, and there are also similarities. MAPs are literally p-do-philes in real life. Lolicons find designs and fashion under the Lolita style attractive. Just to clarify, Lolita came from the nickname of the 12-y.o. character "Dolores" in the book "Lolita". From that originated the term, which means "a young girl who is sexually precocious/advanced for her (visual) age". The book itself doesn't make it so that kids are sexually attractive. Rather, Dolores who was still so young, was (in the POV of the main character) sexually attractive for her age. In other words, he found that she was sexy despite being so young that he found her attractive as a woman instead of a child. Moving back on topic, there are many types of lolicons in Japanese culture. Some just admire the fashion style based out of the Gothic Lolita designs adapted out of dolls wearing Victorian dresses. Being actual dresses back in the day, it is just modern misconception that the design is meant for kids. After all, it's just old Victorian fashion. That was the "vogue" back then in that place. Some lolicons not only admire the fashion style/designs, but also the "kawaii" aspect that the entire image implies, regardless of the apparent age of the person or character wearing it. It is sometimes a trope even in anime or manga where a character (often of age) who is normally serious and mature or rough and tough, gets teased because he/she turns out to actually like wearing such cute and frilly outfits in secret. It is actually an observable thing that there are more teens or young adults wearing Lolita clothing than actual kids in Japan. Most of them being cosplayers or models. One other type of lolicon and arguably the most famous type, especially in the West, is the one directly related to MAPs. These folks like lolitas (the person who wears lolita fashion) not because of the fashion style or design, but because the person wearing it is a child. The clothing style is just a part of the "kink". These are the ones also treated as criminals in Japan and are the ones that are pertained to as "Lolicons" in commonality to people who aren't fluent in Otaku culture there. Note how there are indeed people of age who are lolitas (wears the trademark Victorian fashion, looks young but is sexually precocious for that "visual age"). But these "older people" don't attract these types of harmful lolicons. They are basically in it for the kids, not the lolita theme itself. Unfortunately, it is more common even to the Japanese to refer to p-do-philes as Lolicons because it has been popularized as such by mainstream media. This is in part due to mnemonics with the word "lolicon" containing only 3 syllables making it easy to say and is catchy to remember. The actual Japanese term for MAPS is "Shouniseiai-sha" which is hard to roll out of the tongue and isn't catchy enough to popularize in colloquial lingo thus the reliance in "ro-ri-con".
Honestly... I think pepole just see an easy target to pinpoint evrything on anime like rock and metal were before that.... Hypicrites are on both sides of the argument and both sucks. Peraonally I'm too busy uniting and sharing my love of anine with my fellow weebs to even care. I even deleted twitter so thst all their noise and stupidity can't even reach me. But honestly.... In my opinion? It takes an idiot to apply real world logic and standards to fictionnal characters. Fiction is the essence of possibility and creativity, A crystalisation of our minds and desires in thr forms of shapes and colors used to represent what we see, wants to see or feel. So that whole debate is not only pointless, But also incredibly petty. And pepole wonder why we weebs are antisocial in real life.....
Funny how Hana Uzaki is getting more recognition while the other is some roid raging animal that is becoming more and more irrelevant. I don't know much about him except he does golf or something in a zombie apocalypse or something.
My main reason to mock these people is that rather than calm down when the women they claimed to fight for started posting photos and/or stories of themselves so the moral activists can stop saying Uzaki's body is unrealistic, they just continued to make comments about how much they hated the design, with the main difference being that they stopped giving a reason why.
All of this drama about Uzaki on Twitter is ridiculously stupid. As you mentioned Dai, there are other characters in anime that are canonically underage that are canonically sexualized, and there are also canonically adult characters that are legitimately drawn to look like children. The fact that these people are freaking out about Uzaki who, as you and many others have mentioned, has the appropriate measurements for a young adult of her height, just goes to show that all of the people attacking Uzaki are foreigners to anime as a medium and are simply looking for more excuses to hobby-shame others for drama, which by extension means they've also become what a lot of them sought to destroy; body shamers. I personally know girls that have dimensions fairly close to those of Uzaki who are all in their mid-20s, so there's no getting around that label with the way they're acting. Not to mention a lot of those "fix" redraws only succeed in making her look ugly, which hints that maybe the real problem is that America is insecure about how cute and popular she is despite being short when a large portion of it's citizens can't manage a healthy enough lifestyle to avoid being fat to save their lives (said as a mid-20s American man who doesn't live "healthy" but retains a perfectly healthy BMI regardless). An additional point I like on this subject that didn't get mentioned in your video but did get mentioned by Nux Taku is that Uzaki-chan's design was intended to be sexually attractive, so if all these people yelling pedophilia when they look at Uzaki-chan who has the design structure of a mature, young adult then maybe they're the ones that are attracted to children and can't tell the difference. The salt is real, the jealousy is rampant, and the hypocrisy is hilariously toxic. I myself find her design cute and the awkward situations they get into both funny and appropriate for the characters' canonical age group. They are 20 and 21; these thoughts and situations they get are not only natural but not even the first time they've been portrayed in anime, and usually it's with characters that are canonically pegged as underage! As for the effect loli culture has on legitimate predatory pedophilia, it's my belief that the effect is similar to the relationship between "violent games" and actual violence; it's been scientifically proven that playing games depicting violence will more often than not reduce the amount of outward aggression one exhibits in their daily life, yet people claim the opposite purely in the attempt to shame the medium in an attempt to belittle its stance in society as something as major and dare I say more universally fulfilling than sports. How that applies to lolicon culture is that by providing genuine pedophiles and lolicons with an outlet for their desires (anime featuring children, preferably non-sexualized but actual stuff of that nature does exist), it curbs their tendencies to target real life children out of desperation, yet having anime feature characters as looking young for their age makes the general American public froth at the mouth the same way they do about video games because they lack the synapses to think critically about anything and always jump to the conclusion that "if I'm not the target audience then the whole medium is wrong and it needs to burn".
"Luke, your going to find that many of the truths we cling to, depend greatly on our own point of view. The truth is often what we make of it. You heard what you wanted to hear and believed what you wanted to believe." During the end of the Red Cross event, I picture Uzaki saying, "Strike me down, and I shall become more powerful then you can possibly imagine." How the mighty have risen...
Incredible video. I really do like how you can be a voice of reason explaining the likes of this. I really don't have too much more to add to what you said, but I appreciate it a lot. Especially because it helps explain my own feelings on this subject far better than I even could.
Also, i fond theses kind of arguments about the proportions and "realism" Of anime characters to be asinine and pointless.... For years, artists have been trying to break away from pure figurative art, Mainly because it was getting stale, Was too strict in it's rules, and wasn't representing things like the artist desired to represent them. That's why impressionism and cubism are born, To represent the world and reality through the lens of the artist. And in many ways, Anime is just the same: It plays with proportions, Contrasts, Artsyles, And so amny things to depict the world and things like the author of the art wanted you to see it. That's why you can have very realistic mangas with dark, grim atmospheres, Just as you can get deformed, exagerated mangas with a silly or surreal atmosphere. Art is limitless and most of the time, An extension of the artist's perception of the world. To diss animes for not having realistic proportions, For exagerating body proportions and features, For representing characters one way or another.... All of that is pointless, Stupid, And a form of oppresive censorship over a valid form of artistic expression. So in my book, Anyone siding with the anti uzaki side of the argument for the reasons i mentionned, is nothing but a bitter fool, unable to accept that anime is also a valid form of art , with it's own rules. So while i qvoid theses kinds of sterile controversies led by fools unable to appreciate anime as a form of art, If i ever have to state my views on the whole situation it would be this.
The same people who complain about realistic portions in anime are the same people that claim fat people are normal and draw people as fat and unattractive.
@@1685Violin yup, aka any american csrtoon artists this last decade.... Because let's be real for a sec.. Most modern cartoons draw their characters either fat, ugly, or very caricatual too.... And then goes on to complain about anime and it's proportions... Ah the hypocrisy of theses fools....

I'm not even sure why US "artists" think 'realistic' means fat, or 19 yearsold cannot look young. Sure, not mocking people for their weight is basic courtesy, but the hard, *fat* truth is obesity is bad for health. I'd know, because I used to be fat. Losing those weight easily trippled my stamina. And people looking younger than their age is a thing. I used to know a college girl over 20 who looked like she's in highschool due to short height and baby face. These idiots need to be ignored and consigned to oblivion.
Yes, my girlfriend proudly and girlishly showed me her new 12 cm long pink socks with a cat face and ears on it yesterday...YES she is still a fucking 31 year old woman who has to show her ID whenever she buys alcohol, women look young, some women look very young, and I am fucking sick and tired of being insulted for liking characters that look like the woman I love. And now patreon is telling me that if I were to draw her face in anime style, I'd be banned from patreon!? WTF!
Lol yes. I don't think he's wrong for making them. It's certainly getting him a lot of money and fame, but I can't bring myself to cover this stuff until I have developed thoughts that I can make at least a 10 minute video over. I'd feel wrong just reading an article or individual tweet.
@@OtakuDaiKun To me it just looks like a difference of methods. HH does an "in the moment/just a few hours ago" method. while you, ODK, do a "Here's a summary now that everything seems to have blown over" method. so while HH will almost always be relying on new info to keep himself afloat, you will have a lesser spike, but the videos will have a greater shelf life comparatively.
A friend of mine has a very simmilar problem. They are just a few months away from being considered an adult, but they still look extremilly young, almost middle-school like. Srsly, i think the discussion of age, and apearence in relation to it is a very philosophically rich concept. Great take as always :)
To speak on your point of netflix censorship, If i'm not mistaken, the Gurren Lagann bath house episode is heavily altered on netflix to the point where i believe it is censored.

Twitter can be really insane. The fact they think Uzaki is a child is just plain stupid SHE'S 19 NOW 20 YEARS OLD! And of course they body shame Uzaki there are women IRL that are physically similar to Uzaki herself . So by body shaming Uzaki they are by body shaming those very women.
I look like a kid without my beard since I’m short and h e a very young looking face, dispite being 26 I have been mistaken several times for being a high schooler
Love Uzaki! She's a bit of a troll and I would probably be more annoyed with her antics in real life but she's fun to watch. As for the nontroversy - Someday people will realize that drawings aren't people. Someday.
I fucking hated the Fate/grand order Fate/requiem crossover event because the whole community had a good time simping for the new welfare servant who introduces herself as 14 years old, which means that whenever someone posted a nsfw fanart of her, there were these joyless people with no happiness in their lives constantly commenting something like "Dude, she's 14..." is if there were no other underage characters in that game
Remember seeing a meme where on her shirt it said “Just because a girl is short doesn’t mean she’s a child* or something like that and I have to agree. Yeah, Uzaki is short but there were girls in my high school who were about Uzaki’s height or taller (though not as...developed) and that’s how it is. People come in different shapes and sizes. Personally I believe age does matter but also character design. For example, I, like many others found Yoko Litner attractive but not because of her age but for more obvious reasons. Can say the same for Ryuko and Satsuki from Kill La Kill. Just because you’re attracted to an attractive character that happens to be a young age doesn’t make you a MAP, they’re fictional characters. As long as you don’t feel that way towards real life teenagers or children, I don’t think it’s a big deal.
As usual, great video. Valid points all throughout, and I absolutely, wholeheartedly agree with you, however, absolutely NOONE who is on the opposite side of this argument will listen to a word of anything you said. They are too dead set on “ being offended “, they WANT to be angry ! Not to mention, as I’ve commented before, in order to have a civil and open discussion regarding these topics, one must have critical thinking as a skill set, which sadly, too many today are seriously lacking. Rather than have a discussion they would much rather shout at the top of their lungs how evil and deviant we all are, while feeling morally self righteous, no matter how ludicrous the idea may be. Concerning Uzaki-Chan. I love the series. It’s fun, I love the simplistic art style, and yes, shes definitely easy on the eyes 😂 anyways, great job, please keep up the great work and continuing to fight the good fight.
Sensei I think we talked about this before during does Sailor Moon lore about age differences remember if a guy who's 30 year old is dating a 16 year old that adult is going to be charged statutory to a minor.
Thanks for maintaining my sanity by being your usual rational & logical self. The idea that we are even discussing the fact that art that is colorful drawings have things like age and race and can be of any race is so insanely ridiculous to me. It's like saying "David" is offensive because he's nude. They aren't actual people and don't need to treated as such. They don't affect real people in any way, good or bad. Before we allow things like censorship or banning, there should be SOME proof that shows they cause some negative effect. Not an assumption, PROOF. Yet, here we are with no proof of it (and never will be). I'm so sorry for Japan. They are resisting, yet they shouldn't even have to deal with it at all. I wish that western distribution was done completely within Japan to avoid western controls.
Great video Dai! You've expressed what I've thought for quite a while now. Just from curiosity, is the command seal shirt just something for your avatar, or do you know any place you can buy command seal shirts?
The funny thing is that when a problem like this is brought up it make me more interested in seeing the the thing that there trying to get rid of that why I tried shield hero
the thing is a lot of young Japanese women are petite and child like in face so uzaki chans height and child like face is actually very normal for a Japanese woman. so really they are basically insulating a larg majority of Japanese women
Well long story short, a lot of those people are wrong in saying that Uzaki is annoying and the fact that apparently those types of women don't exist. They do exist and Uzaki did not do anything wrong to get all of the hate. Meanwhile, I am cool with liking someone who despite looking young is still an adult because again they do exist and I am also cool with liking characters despite them being 'younger' like Alisa and my girl Velvet. Again great job!
I take the same stance as the Joey, the Anime Man: it’s a drawing, who the hell cares? No child is being hurt when some manga artist is drawing essentially a 12 year old, in fact statistically it’s quite the OPPOSITE! In Japan there have been studies that were done that showed the r@ping of underaged minors went up when they followed the West to ban hent@i featuring minors. However when they allowed it to be distributed again, it went DOWN. Look, there are sick people who wish to have intercourse with younger people. There’s almost no way ANYONE can stop it. But if you choose whether they beat off to fake anime girls or to actually go out and do it to a REAL child and you choose to ban the former, you are essentially (whether you know it or not, or agree or not) provoking the latter. At least, statistically. I also believe that my own personal opinion I came to was also who tf cares, but also twiddle me this: what about the kids who are into kid-like appearances??? When I was 14, I felt more drawn to characters that were of my age group. What I think people don’t understand or care to remember is that kids watch anime too! So what if those people? It all comes down to leave people alone just cause they like something you don’t. Just cause you dislike it doesn’t mean you can be a self righteous prick who believes he has a moral complex of Jesus when in reality it’s more along the lines of battery acid mixed with sulfur and donkey poop. You aren’t cool for bashing people for liking what you don’t, you’re someone compensating for their lack of a penis. Don’t bash people cause of your insecurities man.
I have a friend with the exact body type as Uzaki, around the same height as Uzaki with a really big boobs and she is 2-3 years older than me (she is around 29 or 30 years old rn). Those people who complain about Uzaki body type seriously need to go out more meet new people and not just playing in twitter lol
Heya dai-kun, just a question here.. have you heard of the issue about the famous artist kawacy's drama? The one over a vampire and a woman? I want to hear your opinion about this..
To sum up what happened, artist kawacy has a sims oc named caleb (who is a vampire) who took care of a child named May because her parents abandoned her. He took care of may and only saw her as a lil sister. As he grew older and May blossomed into a lady, he started to have feelings for her. Mind you, he didnt have any intention whatsoever to fall in love for her. He didnt take care of May to exploit her. The issue is that people call it grooming and what not, and label it a pedophilia. Here is the link where Kawacy tries to explain himself in a twt post mobile.twitter.com/kawanocy/status/1300876730131914752?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
@@jang1809 Oh! That's what that tweet was about. I didn't get the context. It's totally fictional so people are getting way too offended, as always. They'd better be ready to condemn Inuyasha for the same stuff.
people are honestly just way to sensitive... i mean its okay to get creeped out or put off by something but cancelling a creator cause of their content is just a :/ moment...
This one is such a joke. I know three short-stacks. Two happen to be my cousins at 5'1 and 5'2 a piece. My 5'1 cousin was so well endowed she had breast reduction surgery several years back. The back pain was beginning to affect her day-to-day life. The final lady is my very good friend and fellow Honkai Impact Captain (we met through mutual interests). She's 4'11 for Pete's sake! Even LOOKS like Uzaki-chan!! Same prominent incisors, youthful appearance at 25 and pixie cut. Anybody who has an issue with my real life friend's appearance can come look me in the eye and say that. I'll happily give them a very honest and not particularly polite piece of my mind.
Well, people are quick to judge by the cover so, if you’re not familiar with how anime character designs work (like most westerners wouldn’t), it’s hard to assume the worst.
What you said about why we have consent laws is so fucking true. I see people act like age of consent applies to anime characters somehow. It's mind boggling.
For the most part, I'm giving up on reasoning with those crowds. They just like being bittery... (Which is why I can respect Dai: he hasn't given up on doing the right thing)
I didn't even know this was an issue until seeing this. Generally, I don't care what people think of what I enjoy seeing. My rule of thumb is simple, "Am I inflicting pain or suffering on other(s)? Am I taking other's free will by imposing my desire?" If the answer to these questions is negative then it is no one's business of what I like. Appearances can be deceiving especially when talking about anime.
On the Swedish Netflix, have no idea what the American does, while watching cardcaptor Sakura a scene that was removed in the American dub was suddenly spliced in with Japanese voices, good thing Swedish Netflix has subs turned on automatically.
It all depends on the individual and how they see the fiction in question as fictional characters rely on subjectivity interpretation from sentient individuals to have any sort of meaning. When it comes to loli/shota characters or just characters with some characteristics that may be commonly associated with youthfulness in anime or cartoons in general, there is no objective moral conclusion that takes precedent over relative truth for the individual. E.g. If a person sees such characters, and in their mind, has them as something separate from either real people or children or both, and thus has feelings unique to those characters, there is no moral issue that is taking place with that individual having intimate feelings for those characters. This is the case for the vast majority of fans of said characters who happen to have feelings for these characters of the intimate type. There are some scenarios that are more grey. If someone sees such characters in their mind as equivalent to real people and real children, and choosing to indulge in sexual fantasies with the characters regardless, this would be a sign of pedophilia tendencies. I would describe this as an instance of moral caution. The question to ask is if this person who sees these characters as equal to real kids would ever carry over those actions in the real world as opposed to just their fantasies. If the answer is no because they recognize the harm it would bring in reality vs. their fantasies, then there is no actual moral threat, although it is understandable if others may have moral caution since they know the person has feelings they have to keep in check. If one knows such a person personally and knows that they have a handle on things, then perhaps that caution would be alleviated. But, a stranger might ere on the side of caution, not knowing how well the person has a handle on things. The third scenario that comes to mind is those who see such characters as real people and children, choose to indulge in those fantasies, and who desire to act on them as well in the real world. This is the scenario people are truly worried about. I do believe this is also the most rare scenario to exist though, and it would be wrong to prematurely assume someone is in such a state of mind. It of course is wrong to pursue sexual relationships with children as an adult, even more so when it's driven from a self serving impulse to satiate one's own sexual desires since that isn't a rational state of mind, adding to the already high likelihood of harm coming about from the pursuit. In general, bad things come about from a person with a mind that is unable to separate fiction from reality. It would be no better, perhaps even worse, if this lack of distinction was instead focused on violence. It's fair to say this state of mind is akin to mental illness. It's not healthy. It's dangerous. These are just three potential outlooks, of which I did generalize to be digestible. There are of course many ways people can view fiction with all sorts of nuances in regard to such characters, but these three are the ones that feel most pertinent to the discussion. Firstly, it's important to recognize that this is a matter of the subjective. One can't see how they themselves view something that is determined subjectively as a method of understanding how another sees it. So, regardless of how one sees such characters, it does not mean the person besides you or across the internet sees such characters in the same way. That seems to be something many of the people who complain about fictional characters struggle to grasp and to apply in regard to their moralistic thinking. Thus, secondly, it's important to not prematurely judge someone without learning how it is they see such characters. The leap that someone is a pedophile for simply liking certain animated characters, for example, is an unfounded accusation based on a negative assumption about the person in question that is very likely to be untrue. This would be slander. It would also be an instance of crying wolf. Trying to out others who aren't what you are claiming them to be hurts the ability for legit cases to be made. What's even more damning is claiming lewd art of such characters is equivalent to actual child pornography. Child pornography (CP) is predicated on actual real children being exploited to produce it, and thus its illegal status. To conflate the two is to fail to determine fiction from reality, which is concerning if the person legitimately can't separate the two (although it usually is a bad faith gesture in pursuit of clout which is also morally wrong). It also wastes the time of professionals who stop actual CP when such art is reported to be as such. This brings up the importance of the third point; get to know the person before jumping to conclusions. Try to understand a community before you rush to paint it with a broad brush based on unfounded and/or unfair assumptions. Prejudice is at the core of the issue because it relies on presumptions, presumptions which often have no actual factual basis behind them. Ignoring the nuance of the individual, especially in regard to subjective content interpretation, is always going result in misjudging and thus mistreating innocent people whom one does not actually know in any meaningful capacity. If this isn't already an ethic one holds true to, it is one that should be picked up immediately, as it applies to not only to the issue of this discussion, but many other ones as well. One will become a better version of their self by having and staying true to this ethic within the moral system of their self.
I do find it disgusting that people in the world tried to change her look when there is people out there who have big chest small height and don't look their age its basically saying don't look like that if a teenage girl saw that who is not self confident she could get the wrong idea and to me it's sick
So it’s ok to have people like Eren though as hot by the people even though he was originally shown and said to be 15 to begin with. Stiyl from To aru series thought as hot too, he is only 14 years old.
I've always been attracted to older women in real life, heck I suppose I might even be considered a closet "cub" or even "milf hunter" or whatever you call it, I can assure you I probably wouldn't of ever dated my wife if she wasn't older than me, I am someone who just needs that age gap where I am the younger one in a relationship, simple but of course I do fanboy over plenty of characters that are technically underage simply because of the character or how they look but not because of there age, You have cosplaying and that's a great way to live a fantasy temporarily with a character who you know in real life you wouldn't legally be allowed to associate with, Yeah of course I like the idea of an older woman cosplaying as Yoko or some other scantly clad character but it's not like I was thinking much of their age when I was first watching, reading or playing where ever said character is from. Anime is not reality, it's as simple as that. You can't assume someone likes a fictional character that is underage they are automatically a pedophile. Here is another great example... I am really only attracted to brunettes in real life but with fictional girls I like my share of blonds, redheads or even... Purple. Plenty of women in real life look young, are short and have giant racks and in real life Uzaki would just be another one of those women, big deal. Sorry for opening this can of worms in your comments section, Dai but... I'd assume not all lolicons are pedophiles, I personally don't agree with someone's taste for liking lolis (even though I'm guilty for fanboying over some Pokemon characters, oops) but at the same time I can't judge them as long as I have their word that they only like fictional drawing of children and not real children. I personally come from the Tokusatsu community and yeah you see plenty of young children on those shows but it's not like I'm giving them the predictor's glance and I can assume the same would go for other viewers, As long as someone draws the line at 2D characters than yeah you should just mind your own business and let them do them, if they aren't looking at any real kids than what is the harm? *Edit* Yes I would like to clarify I did make my comment while in the middle of watching the video, I was just eager to share my opinion.
I hate how the term MAPs has been hijacked, it was Multi Animator Project first and it should stay that way! Why should we have to change the term for them?
WHOA!!!!! NEW DAI MODEL WHO DIS!?!? in all seriousness. I find beauty in anime. I mean look at ones like Violet Evergarden. I kid you not the first thing I said was. "Wow....it's beautiful..."
Is it really that hard to see the appeal of an attractive anime character? I've thought this way since I was like 10 years old. It's beautiful art without any ulterior motives.
Lol In today’s world being salty about stuff you don’t like is common and expected.
I honestly never really cared much bout Uzaki-san, but it’s pretty cool how an anime character inspired some charity work like that.
Well blame the lack of understanding/common sense in people these days. False/misunderstood information about the topic follows as well. 😑
Also, fiction is fiction for the will of light.
So many people seem to ignore that she is *nineteen*.
By the way, what remix of Uverworld's Touch Off is that?
plvs_vltra Yeah, cause small size instantly equals child in their eyes
“You can not and should not fix art” I believe that’s the quote Dai.
unless it's 100 % Degenerate
CreatorsFreedom!!! No, no art can be fixed as there’s nothing to fix, whether it’s degenerate or not, it’s just the artists vision which nobody can fix.
For those who don’t know, Her senpai, Sakurai is 180 cm tall, uzaki is only about 150(Family is said to be slightly short)
That disparity in height exists in reality. I'm 185 cm and my friend is 149 cm. Said friend even looks like Uzaki! People whining about things because that's all they can do rather than being happy.
Lol Uzaki is 150? My girlfriend is gonna be so pissed that Uzaki is actually taller than her
I also know a girl from my community college who is rather short along with other women with body types from people in their 20s, people online would consider “young”.
XD
Maybe they never saw people who have Dwarfism since birth...
It's because they didn't have a plan on trying to take over anime back then. They're doing it now because anime is getting more and more popular and they want to take over every Avenue of entertainment they can to spread their agenda of making entertainment inherently political instead of entertaining.
My gf is 26 and people have thought she was between 14-16. Hack, people even said she's too young for me and we are exactly the same age.
Heck, people who know she's an adult still try to say Uzaki is promoting pedophilia. she looks like a child, therefore she is
I'm 27, but some people think I'm 19.
@1810Jeff
Finally someone who sees this nonsense for what it is!

All the controversy surrounding Uzaki-Chan has actually made her more endearing to me. She’s adorable.

"One of the most dangerous weapons ever designed"

Honestly soo true. In terms of looks Hideo is at least mid 30s to early 40s. Mai really looks mid 20s or early 30s.
Travis Touchdown when I was stationed in Japan I dated a woman twice my age who looked like she was my age.
Yeah and the funny part is anime actually sometimes matures up the girls since Japan women are more on the short side
Medusa is a good example as she thinks she is tall but anywhere else in the world she would be short and everyone else even shorter than that. Same with Nero who is super short but nobody made a stink about it as we saw her naked and kiss hakuno.
Plus if they want short they should see uzakis sister an actual short big boob girl instead.
@@ivanbluecool Slightly off topic (I think, idk I'm dead tired from classes atm) isn't Abby taller than Nero?
Oh thank you, OtakuDaiKun!
Awesome video. Gatekeeping is valid. Dai is a velvet fanboy...

14:45 The thing about Abby is that the video games journos and Neil Druckman kept beating everyone over the head about wanting to represent "realistic women" in their games.
They made Abby for that. So pointing out that Abby is not realistic is holding them accountable.
That's fair. Neil also directly hated on sexy female designs too.

This causes these biased people to also think "This is probably because they like children in sexualized clothing.", thus the claim that "anime and manga is for M.A.P.s"
Unfortunately, many of these biased folks are also mostly deranged people with varying degrees of mental and emotional issues.
She pretty much triggers all the right flags for them to go "REEEEEEEE!"
The sad thing about all of this is that these same people are so drowned in their own hubris that they don't realize they are actually the same people pushing forward the "problematic" things they claim to be against.
There different between maps and lolicon .
Fiction is the essence of possibility and creativity,
A crystalisation of our minds and desires in thr forms of shapes and colors used to represent what we see, wants to see or feel.
So that whole debate is not only pointless,
But also incredibly petty.
And pepole wonder why we weebs are antisocial in real life.....
So people say she's a "child" just because she's short, bruh.
Really like how you broke down this controversy my mans keep up the amazing content thanks for stepping in.
Funny how Hana Uzaki is getting more recognition while the other is some roid raging animal that is becoming more and more irrelevant. I don't know much about him except he does golf or something in a zombie apocalypse or something.
What other anime you talking about there!?
@@mugenokami2201 Hint: It ain't an anime, it's a video game

@@mugenokami2201 Hint 2: It was a recent title, made by Naughty Dog.
"Adults can't be Shoooorrrrrt!"

Incredible video. I really do like how you can be a voice of reason explaining the likes of this. I really don't have too much more to add to what you said, but I appreciate it a lot. Especially because it helps explain my own feelings on this subject far better than I even could.
Really good video and well explained BRAVO!
Also, i fond theses kind of arguments about the proportions and "realism"
Of anime characters to be asinine and pointless....
For years, artists have been trying to break away from pure figurative art,
Mainly because it was getting stale,
Was too strict in it's rules,
and wasn't representing things like the artist desired to represent them.
That's why impressionism and cubism are born,
To represent the world and reality through the lens of the artist.
And in many ways,
Anime is just the same:
It plays with proportions,
Contrasts,
Artsyles,
And so amny things to depict the world and things like the author of the art wanted you to see it.
That's why you can have very realistic mangas with dark, grim atmospheres,
Just as you can get deformed, exagerated mangas with a silly or surreal atmosphere.
Art is limitless and most of the time,
An extension of the artist's perception of the world.
To diss animes for not having realistic proportions,
For exagerating body proportions and features,
For representing characters one way or another....
All of that is pointless,
Stupid,
And a form of oppresive censorship over a valid form of artistic expression.
So in my book,
Anyone siding with the anti uzaki side of the argument for the reasons i mentionned, is nothing but a bitter fool, unable to accept that anime is also a valid form of art ,
with it's own rules.
So while i qvoid theses kinds of sterile controversies led by fools unable to appreciate anime as a form of art,
If i ever have to state my views on the whole situation it would be this.
The same people who complain about realistic portions in anime are the same people that claim fat people are normal and draw people as fat and unattractive.

WTF!

The way u phrase things is very SMART.

As for the nontroversy - Someday people will realize that drawings aren't people. Someday.
Funny how they were the ones telling us how waifus arent real at the beginning. And look at them now, not being able to separate fiction and reality.
12:22 who's that next to velvet and where's she from?
Alisa from God Eater.
6:14 It’s sad 😢 because for a anime character to have big eyes 👀 has been a part of anime history even older anime than Astro boy
Sensei I think we talked about this before during does Sailor Moon lore about age differences remember if a guy who's 30 year old is dating a 16 year old that adult is going to be charged statutory to a minor.
The fool didn't realise that his attempt at stopping uzaki only made her stronger

Who did it better?
Uzaki-chan or Nero Caster?
I like how you used uverworld- touch off in the background.
Glad someone said it
the thing is a lot of young Japanese women are petite and child like in face so uzaki chans height and child like face is actually very normal for a Japanese woman. so really they are basically insulating a larg majority of Japanese women
This is just a result of what we in the business call "Insecurity and jealousy".

I know of the artist but not the drama. Can you fill me in?
To sum up what happened, artist kawacy has a sims oc named caleb (who is a vampire) who took care of a child named May because her parents abandoned her. He took care of may and only saw her as a lil sister. As he grew older and May blossomed into a lady, he started to have feelings for her. Mind you, he didnt have any intention whatsoever to fall in love for her. He didnt take care of May to exploit her.
The issue is that people call it grooming and what not, and label it a pedophilia.
Here is the link where Kawacy tries to explain himself in a twt post

Great vid as always and again this motto still holds weight: it's drawing, she's not real. And my add-on: she's a waifu. Enjoy the shortstack.
This one is such a joke. I know three short-stacks. Two happen to be my cousins at 5'1 and 5'2 a piece. My 5'1 cousin was so well endowed she had breast reduction surgery several years back. The back pain was beginning to affect her day-to-day life.

Well, people are quick to judge by the cover so, if you’re not familiar with how anime character designs work (like most westerners wouldn’t), it’s hard to assume the worst.
Listening to this while feeding my archer artoria it was a fun take on age and how the so-called moral guardians are so twisted in there logic.
What you said about why we have consent laws is so fucking true. I see people act like age of consent applies to anime characters somehow. It's mind boggling.

True, there are much better ways to spend your time, like watching Uzaki anime, and reading the manga.
Your new avatar kinda looks like Joker & I like it
I didn't even know this was an issue until seeing this.

OtakuDaiKun It was a scene with the two in a tree talking about something that would not fly in the 90’s I can’t remember what exactly though
I'm curious, is the music you use during your outro self made? BeatFind can't exactly find it for me.
My wife made it.
@@OtakuDaiKun Oh nice! Your love seems rather generous.
UA-cam recommended me a Giga-Chad Vtuber news channel I guess.
+1 sub my dude.
Alright "lets get down to business to defeat the" ... wait, wrong video.
Neat. New Avatar!
Anime forever
I do find it disgusting that people in the world tried to change her look when there is people out there who have big chest small height and don't look their age its basically saying don't look like that if a teenage girl saw that who is not self confident she could get the wrong idea and to me it's sick
I would say the line I draw is when the characters are drawn clearly as child, acts like a child, and the focus is of them being a child.
Dude, get in close to your screen and look at the background animation. It’s trippy
So it’s ok to have people like Eren though as hot by the people even though he was originally shown and said to be 15 to begin with. Stiyl from To aru series thought as hot too, he is only 14 years old.
*Stiyl, not sting.
Will gm Thanks for the correction

The poster. My Eyes!!!!!!!
Bless Japan. I really love how they take these puritanical activists less serious than we do in America.
remember that cosplayer who cosplayed Uzaki and was basically perfect?
:edit: OH YOU SHOWED HER! lemme just subscribe again r.q
I love when cosplayers can prove certain body types are real.
I hate how the term MAPs has been hijacked, it was Multi Animator Project first and it should stay that way! Why should we have to change the term for them?
I was only using it to avoid demonetization.
OtakuDaiKun Man, so it’s a UA-cam-end issue? Even passively their demonetization rules hurt fan communities, that sucks. Thanks for letting me know!
Just go on twitter and spam characters that don't "look their age" just to piss them off and keep twitter busy
WHOA!!!!! NEW DAI MODEL WHO DIS!?!?
in all seriousness. I find beauty in anime. I mean look at ones like Violet Evergarden. I kid you not the first thing I said was. "Wow....it's beautiful..."
