@@EspenJohan Not fix it might in fact be 'better' already its slowly becoming more a 'what most people like' thing they would be better of providing multiple curves out of the box based on normal 10bit just like tv's do.
Compression is a difficult subject its results are based on multiple factors bitrate is only one of them. The input signal (for example how much noise and rest movement after stable) the encoding setttings and bitrate all have effects. Its near impossible to compare the action4 and action5 from that and in the comments we already see most people talking about the color curves more than encoding. The action5 old/new does help and we can see that dji clearly lowered the bitrate (because of other changes) too much back so its nice to see them fix that but even there we don't really know what other settings they have changed. Now what looks nicer is a whole different issue and if dji wants people to be able to use it 'out of the box' they should provide more curves based on the 10bit normal (maybe add 3 more) next to the known/defined curves in log and hgl.
To be honest, I would pick the OA5 but the difference I can see is mainly in the slightly nicer and warmer colours. So it doesn't look like a major step up with this updated 'pro' version.
tbh only you can tell if there is a difference, when we are watching this video, it has already been encoded two times, first by you and then by youtube.
Exactly why I’m perfectly fine with the standard bit rate. As a content creator, my viewers won’t notice, so why even bother. However, it’s good that we now how the option to choose between both standard and high.
1. i think we cannot compare a4 with a5pro because of different hardware architecture 2. even old or new firmware, i think my eyes cannot see different on you tube as it compressed the image both old or new firmware already regards
The original firmware looks way worse than the OA4. The new firmware brings in more contrast and the background also seems less overexposed. The new firmware definitely looks better, but the skies are still messed up. The OA4 skies exhibit atrong HDR, but it has more pleasing colours. Seems like the OA4 is a better buy. I'd wait to see what they do with the OA6 next year. Meanwhile, I will just stick with the OA4. The adventure combo OA4 is cheaper than the OA5 standard combo atm.
my opinion, OA4 still had more details, even after the OA5 update, especially in the sky. :( I also noticed this on someone else's test in a car, OA4 still beats the 5 Pro
So in my opinion nothing has improved at all. Except that the OA5 now overheats after 38 minutes of 4k60. It's a shame because the advantages were just hot air compared to the hero13. But UA-cam isn't really a great comparison either. In the end, I took a picture yesterday on my monitor "4k 100%srgb", but it turned out just as sad for the OA5.
Hi😀, well we probably dont fully agree. But thats how it should be👍, we all like different things. OA5 need updates, but I do think dji is on the right track. They will fix the issues, the extreme HDR look is something I dont like. It work in some scenes, in some not. Thanks for watching 😀
For me - and it keeps shrinking me. I much prefer the video from the 4. The colours, deepness look way better on the 4. The 5 just looks kind of fragile and wiry. Keeping my 4 :D
I can see no real difference in standard and high both look fine. Honestly moving that fast no set of eyes could honestly see the difference, so for me this is a placebo fix.
I was previously thinking I'd need to change up my OA3 of late . I'm not too fussed now . Why dji brought out such a sloppy new release is a surprise, And I've been a huge fan to date , owning two OA cams
@@MattiaToniUfficiale Hi😀, well for me I like the image from OA5 more than OA4. But it all depends on what you're looking for. When I vlog, I like the picture from OA5 better, but it seems that OA4 has somewhat better detail in the highlights. But I think OA4 exaggerates it a bit compared to what is real
I believe DJI is experiencing major issues with their quality control team. Any upgrade, such as moving from the OA4 to the OA5, should show significant improvements over the previous version, but it appears to be the opposite. Also the HDR effect is noticeably present and shouldn't be enabled as a default option.
Hi😀, when companies launch new cameras every year the update is small. They should propably wait and do it every second year. Well I do think there are improvement on the OA5 over the OA4, but they still have some stuff to fix. HDR overprocessing is one of them. Thanks for watching😀
If you are thinking about the Ace Pro 2, sorry to say I dont have it. Im not sure if im gonna buy it, need to sell something first. Thanks for watching😀
IMO, the bitrate thing is a red herring. In most circumstances, it makes no difference. And DJI have clearly said that the new processor is much better at building images from a lower bitrate data stream. Bitrate isn't the be-all-and-end-all. Just as important is what the processor does with the data. The Action 5 was already clearly better than the Action 4. As for the Ace Pro 2, Insta360 will no doubt price it at about $499, same as the Ace Pro 1 when it released. That will make it 50% more expensive than the Action 5.
I do agree, bitrate dont always mean better image quality. But with fast moving activities you should see a difference. What dji need to focus on is the aggressive HDR look. But the OA5 is still the best action camera👍. Thanks for watching 😀

This was interesting to read, you obviously know what you're talking about. Thanks for watching😀
To be honest, I would pick the OA5 but the difference I can see is mainly in the slightly nicer and warmer colours. So it doesn't look like a major step up with this updated 'pro' version.
OA5 is a winner for me too👍, thanks for watching😀
OA4 looks much more better, more natural and 3D feel, because of better contrast and no fake hdr look, like OA5... for me. Great video :)
Dji need to fix this with a update👍
You may do Log and then make skies as you wish
@@AntonTheRunner that can be possible👍, thanks for watching 😀
My camera, while recording a clip, the screen dims every 10 seconds 3 times. Please tell me how to fix it.
Yeah it do, it's battery saving . Tap the screen to wake it up.
@@EspenJohan Ok,When not recording, the screen does not dim.
When not recording, the screen does not dim, but when recording, it dims. I don't like it at all.
@@gafiews I seen other say this, dji will fix that. Im sure.
@@EspenJohan OK
There is no decernable differences to most people watching on the phone
Yeah you could be right👍
tbh only you can tell if there is a difference, when we are watching this video, it has already been encoded two times, first by you and then by youtube.
I see what you mean, but it still looks better. I only hope Dji can give us a option to turn on and off HDR.
Exactly why I’m perfectly fine with the standard bit rate. As a content creator, my viewers won’t notice, so why even bother. However, it’s good that we now how the option to choose between both standard and high.
1. i think we cannot compare a4 with a5pro because of different hardware architecture
2. even old or new firmware, i think my eyes cannot see different on you tube as it compressed the image both old or new firmware already
regards
You are right, hardware is different. But to compare them you can, just to show that the OA5 is a upgrade.
Minute 6:45 less detail on the road from 5 no?
For me it looks just that OA4 and more contrast. its more or less the same.
@@EspenJohan yup something like that. Or shadows overexposed on 5
The picture of the Action 4 is better.
In some scenes I do agree, but when you vlog OA5 is better. But thats my opinion. Thanks for watching 😀
It looks good even in standard bitrate...
It do😀
Ace pro 2 , realeased tomorrow 😮
Yes👍😀
Seems like the Action 5 had a ND filter on... If so it would be better to remove fir comparisons...
No ND filter, it has a different sharper look. But I like it, thanks for watching 😀
For some reason Action 4 looks more pleasing...
Action 4 looks good and has a softer look.
How does anyone spot propery after its comoressed to youtube?
It's not easy to see, but you can. All depend on the scenery and activiti.
I do agree at the same time dji will fix this with updates. Thanks for watching 😀
my opinion, OA4 still had more details, even after the OA5 update, especially in the sky. :(
I also noticed this on someone else's test in a car, OA4 still beats the 5 Pro
Yeah👍
the 5 looks like a kid drew with a box of crayons but a friend ate the pretty colored ones.
4 all the way.
Thats a good comment 🤣, but I do think dji will fix it with updates. It's more or less the same hardware. Thanks for watching 😀
Great video
Thank you 😀
So in my opinion nothing has improved at all.
The A4 is a great camera👍
I can see no real difference in standard and high both look fine. Honestly moving that fast no set of eyes could honestly see the difference, so for me this is a placebo fix.
I can see a difference in colors and clarity. Not huge, but better 👍
If video quality is most important to you get an ace pro then. Even with 8bit ace pro gen1 produces better quality videos, compare to action5.
Ace pro is great 👍
I was previously thinking I'd need to change up my OA3 of late . I'm not too fussed now . Why dji brought out such a sloppy new release is a surprise, And I've been a huge fan to date , owning two OA cams
It will get better, dji will improve it with updates👍
Action 4 has the win for me
It's good👍
@@EspenJohan what's your favourite?
@@MattiaToniUfficiale Hi😀, well for me I like the image from OA5 more than OA4. But it all depends on what you're looking for. When I vlog, I like the picture from OA5 better, but it seems that OA4 has somewhat better detail in the highlights. But I think OA4 exaggerates it a bit compared to what is real
@@EspenJohan thank you! Always great video my friend! Keep it up 💪🏻
I believe DJI is experiencing major issues with their quality control team.
DJI is doing a good job, but I still prefer Ace Pro 1 footage. This is my opinion.
Dji is good and also Ace pro, gonna be a fun fight between them👍. Thanks for watching 😀
Vivement mardi pour que tu nous fasses rêver...
Thanks for watching 😀
still has that fake plastic look compared to the richness of OA4 imagery in the daylight scenario 😅
night scenes are much better now ❤
Yeah there still things to fix👍, but they will.
All my videos on youtube shot by iPhone
Thats great 👍, iphone is good
I like the 4
It's good 👍
I think we all agree that the main difference is NO different!
Well I dont agree, and im sure they will improve it👍
@@EspenJohan You called it HUGE upgrade..but where? Does 5-10 extra megabits/sec makes such a different in your opinion? I just don't see any difference (and I'm not the only one). Sorry

Hi😀, there are improvements. Still they have some things to improve, like HDR overprocessing. Its to much. Thanks for watching😀
@@EspenJohan as you said in one video we have to many expectations from the action cameras 😊 DJI is a great camera. I am sorry about Go Pro. Now Insta and DJI even don’t think that Go Pro can be a concurrency for them. Go Pro has huge financial problems. I received few emails this week from them to encourage me to buy New Hero 13. I also see both Espen and photorabz but except for low light the Action 4 is still performing better. Let’s see what Insta 360 Ace Pro 2 brings next week.
@@DanF2767 Hi😀, thanks for watching. They both deliver, dji will update the OA5 and make it better. I have faith in dji👍

I do think you can see a difference, high bitrate has better effect with moving objects. And I do think dji will improve it even more. Thanks for watching😀
@@EspenJohan Then you have a special DJI influencer firmware?
@@EspenJohan i think all difference is only on D-Log 10 bit for post-processing video. In other modes no visual difference
the magenta tint and awful processing of the clouds on the action 5 looks way worse than the 4! the skin tones and sweater details are way better on the 4 too. can't keep waiting on FW updates for this new version to get out of beta testing. :P
I do see what you mean, but the action 5 has more realistic look than A4 and also Ace pro. Im sure they will fix some issues with a update👍😀

Old cameras are good👍
And then...what bit rate do you render to UA-cam out at. This whole argument is all a bit pointless.

@@EspenJohan Of course, 10´99 is not 11.

Thanks for your comparison videos, Espen. It’s a joy to see, what the different cameras are capable of.
