Great video Ian and much more chilled and relaxed then other review videos I've seen of this. I did want to ask, was this a paid promotion or just you going out and buying it? It looks like a worthwhile addition to your arsenal!
Nice action camera !! 10bits color and sharpness are great. I would like to stick this camera on a drone, should not be a problem i think. Thanks for this video Ian !!
Thank you for this information. I checked out the link you provided, I don't see an affiliate link? Will you benefit when I purchase the product? Hope so.
I prefer a bitrate on my Action 4, no artifacting much more detail in the clouds, etc. if you’re moving slow everything looks fine with the 5 Pro but pick up speed and you’ll start to see the artifacting.
I don't know about that, Ian. I bought an Osmo pocket camera last year, and as it wouldn't connect to the app on my phone, it just stopped working the same morning. When I took it back to the shop , they threw the £450 camera into the bin and refunded my money. Enough said about that company.
This was really great. This is the first time I've seen your videos, and I'm in the market for a selection of new action cams. This video has confirmed that I'll be opting for a few DJI Action 5 Pro(s) rather than my usual GoPro choice. Great work!
Thank you for the review. However, I have some concerns regarding the video quality. The colors appear washed out and the level of detail is quite low. It does not seem to reflect the quality of graded 10-bit color footage. In my experience with grading footage from older action cameras, the colors were significantly better. This discrepancy with the new camera is quite puzzling.
did you really look what stands in left corner of the pictures. He had a lot of ungraded pictures there. f.ex. the grass within the castle. One time it seems to be washed out, like you said, and when it is graded its full and deep green. So under normal circumstances there are no washed out pictures.
Hi, I own a DJI action 3. I find the recording time much to low. I did a 25 km mountain hike and pressed recording when passing highlights. But all to soon the camera and SD card memory was full and I could not record anything. How much record time can you have in 4K 60 fps with maximum SD memory?
Always love your videos mate but It would've been great if you would've taken some photos as well during this review, otherwise you may just as well have stayed inside and just get some B-rolls to put in when you are out photographing anyway 😉 Don't get me wrong, as said I always appreciate the work you put in so I'm not trying to be offensive.
Compression artifacts are completely unacceptable with the bit rate being capped at 60 at 4K/30. Sorry, this was a major boo boo by DJI. 10 BIT is a huge plus though to match GoPro. I''m hearing the bit rate will be addressed in a firmware update, but we'll see. Considering the ACE Pro 2 only has 8 BIT instead of 10, I feel like both of those cameras have botched the releases and allowed the GoPro to continue to dominate for cinematic quality in bright light with ND filters.
@@BrytonSchwabPhotography in lighted conditions the GoPro is far superior for cinematic results because it does not produce compression artifacts like the Action 5. You can select the high bit rate option in the GoPro in addition to 10 Bit color. There is a huge difference between 10 bit and 8 bit that the Ace Pro 2 is limited at. I have a DJI Pocket 3, which is far superior to any of those 3 in low light situations so I am not buying any of those 3 for that purpose. I want cinematic daytime footage from my action camera. If DJI updates the firmware to select a high bit rate then it may be able to match the GoPro for image quality. That said, I have a GoPro 12 that does what the 13 can do quality wise. I don’t need to shell out a grand for new batteries and lenses that have blue dots to automatically set my ND filter settings. I know what to set them at and I already have a max lens mod and a slew of batteries.
It's amazing that the low bitrate isn't mentioned in a single sentence... Sad, sorry. I find it even sadder that DJI is fooling its customers and talking about a bitrate of 100. Ultimately, the OA5 only manages 25-45. Anything over 25mph becomes muddy. And even sadder, DJI calls this camera action, but there's nothing action about it. It can vlog, but it's definitely not action.
Ah there you are again. Don't listen to this guy. I've seen him in many videos about the Action 5, where he always badmouths the Action 5 and the respective UA-camr and spreads lies. And he has never proven his claims. This guy is a real, genuine asshole. You'd almost think he's paid by GoPro for the crap he does.
Have you ever compared the GoPro (at least the 11)? When I did, I realized the Action 5 is actually pretty good. Everyone targets the figure-and sure it could be adjustable for those that think they need it, but many that say this is a negative have no clue how or if it is relevant.
@@arlencarlson This guy visits all the sites where the Action 5 is discussed to then trash it and usually (like here) the UA-camrs as well. It's always the same. I've seen him write the same crap 5 or 6 times on completely different sites. You'd almost think GoPro would pay him for it.
@@mathiassiebert1217 Oh, because I'm spreading the truth? I'm lucky enough to be able to test all the latest action cams. Unlike others, nobody pays me for my opinion. For me, an action cam must have a minimum bitrate of 100, anything else just doesn't deserve to be called action. SORRY, these are just facts.
@@JuiceBikerThat's your opinion, not facts. Unless there is a definition somewhere I am not aware of that for it to be called an action camera it needs a 100+ on Bitrate? I am not being paid by DJI and I just returned an Action 4 and keeping the Action 5.
Colour is fine but not much help when the GoPro fails on a regular basis. My Hero 10 and 12 have both failed. Incredibly frustrating to deal with GoPro Hero cameras

How good is this castle! Anyway, please let me know your thoughts on this new camera and I'm back shooting landscapes next week 👍
Looks great, where is the Castle?
I love the mic 2
Results look amazing Ian😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Great review, one of the best I have seen so far. Well done.
Glad you liked it!
Great video Ian, I actually just got the A5 last week loving it.
Awesome 👍
Hey Ian, would the action Pro pair with the DJI MIC 1 please?
Nice review mate

hi there
would you suggest it for gym and cooking content ? thank you
You can remove the pole in the app?? That’s amazing!

That's amazing Quality for sure .... do you know if you can out-put the Video to a ACASIS 40Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure instead to a Micro sd card
At 3:20 What camera did you use to record the video?
What LUT do you use Ian?
It's one I made to match fuji eterna 👍
10 bit normal looks good
Great video Ian, I'm interested in one of those in the future....very interesting, thank you... Colin Devon....uk

Does the HDR reduce the image quality?
I prefer the 10-bit colour.
Amazing

I haven't had any issues with the action 4 or 5. I've never tried the pocket series though.

Did you use a shutter speed lower than 1/200? There appear to be some stabilisation-related issues on the castle wall at 0:58
The exposure was set to auto, so I'm not sure
Does it have 360° horizon lock in 4k like GoPro Hero 11,12,13?
yes. even the older models have that feature
