Many people struggle to get the results they are after despite putting a ton of effort into their training. It is often thought that training can counteract negative lifestyle habits that are in conflict with it, but that's rarely the case. More often than not, your lifestyle will have a far greater impact on your long term progress, especially when it comes to getting leaner. If you haven't achieved your goals, ask yourself honestly, "what would happen if I stopped drinking alcohol? What would happen if I cooked all my own meals? What would happen if I went for a 30 minute walk every day?". While everyone will vary in their willingness and tolerance to make lifestyle adjustments, even small changes can help support your training and bring you closer to achieving your goals. - Фільми й анімація
I’m 180 days into no alcohol and becoming absolutely shredded. It’s insane how much easier it is to get lean by removing alcohol
alcohol is garbage. that shit is not worth a cent.
I'm 7336 days into no alcohol
Being that specific with it, was it a big problem? Genuinely asking.
@@evansyoc would really recommend giving it a shot for a month, just keep in mind that one month just gets the engine really warmed up. By 90 days you start really seeing an impact
@@gscadwaladerThis.is.my.downfall…. trying really hard to cut it out. Still able to BQ and stay fit but just cannot get cut and I really believe there is a lot of unrealized potential stolen by 🍺. It’s also screwing up my workouts.
I went the opposite direction, quit alcohol which then lead to waking up earlier. Made eating well and being active so much easier, ended up losing 25lbs and feeling better than ever. Great video and per usual Kyle
That's awesome, Jack! The two definitely seem to work together, and when combined, it is super powerful!
Respect
Facts was drinking almost everyday/otherday and after doing Ramadan this year I stopped drinking and went on this intermet fasting .. drank soda and even carbs and still was losing weight .. gonna cut out them soda and then when I stagnate finna cut out the carbs .. gonna be too shredded

Most people don't want to accept how damaging alcohol is to almost every aspect of ones life because it is so normalised.
One of the very few fitness advisors who actually talks sense without the hype and fluff. Commendable approach and valuable info.
Thank you, Nico! I appreciate that!
Waking up early and going to bed early is a HUGE life changer. It doesn't only makes me feel stronger and healthier but also HAPPIER. We evolved as diurnal animals, our body and mind evolved using the Sun as a clock. I am convinced that modern life with all the excessive artificial lights and artificial extension of the day is more detrimental to our physical and mental health than we think (as well as to other animals').
I totally agree with all this. One thing that has helped my sleep a lot is seeing the sunrise every morning. I think light plays a critical role in regulating mood, sleep, and overall wellbeing.
That's pretty well established, in fact. Recall the "seasonal affective disorder" people, or the assorted health problems associated with working rotating shifts, or the psychological stress of submarine duty (weeks in a windowless metal can at depths light can't reach).
We didn't evolve.
We were created by The Creator.
Stop propagating lies, Gabriel. Be responsible.
@@ashrafi7337shut up lmao
Back in our childhood, our teachers would recite us, "Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." It kinda sit with me my whole life. I must admit that I'm not an early bird, but when I do wake up early in the morning, not only does my day become more productive, I also feel happy and more energetic through out the day, and I welcome sun in the sky while on the run. It's incredible!
Yeah, I agree. I watched my dad do this growing up, and I never understood why. Now I totally get it.
I cut out alcohol completely 4 1/2 years ago I'm never going back. The noticeable benefits are too valuable. More restorative sleep, less empty calories, less cravings for bad foods, less inflammation, more money in my pocket...
Yeah! It's all positive! I totally agree. Going back is tough to do when you feel how good everything is without it.
For us older folks it's clear as day how detrimental even a few alcoholic beverages can be on our recovery, digestive system, hydration, sleep quality, lapse in clean eating. Anyone here that is still in their 20's take advantage of your youth if you are pursuing new levels of health. Are those drinks worth the trade off. Enjoy but don't over indulge. Cheers to Mr. Boges!
Amen, Kyle! It’s hard to understate the power of what you said.
53-year-old here … grateful to be reaping the rewards of these two lifestyle changes. But I got to this point from a different angle…
I dropped alcohol after committing to daily meditation at 6am. That led to earlier bed times, better sleep, and a VERY CLEAR picture of how detrimental even small amounts of alcohol on a regular basis could be.
As my overall physical and mental health improved, I found I had more energy and appetite for exercise. I joined the gym down the street and now I’m moving some weights around a little.
By starting early, I can block off my morning hours, preserving time for 1) meditation, 2) a 5k walk in the woods, and 3) regular weight training (with an intentional diet). A super-easy formula to completely change your life.
Thanks for the excellent videos, Kyle!
May I ask what time you have to be at work?
Hey Kyle ! I'm 18 and live in France. You have brought me a vision about life, health and just overrall fitness that I couldn't get anywhere else. I really agree with your way of approaching things and just wanted to thank you because I was lost about my future and wasn't active at all. Since I've discovered you, I now know what I wanna do for the rest of my life whether it's professionnal or personal. Thanks again, your videos are great as always.

Love this! Reflects my experience too! I am 7 months into no alcohol, training the kboges way and walking - Now 16 pounds down and feeling great. I sleep better and wake up early naturally. Sunday morning early walks are bliss when everyone is sleeping and the world is quiet. Thanks for everything Kyle and the community is so supportive too.

This channel has been life-changing for me. I’m 21 years old and never used to enjoy going to the gym. Thanks to your content and teachings about basic calisthenics, I’ve been able to develop a consistent workout routine that is as effective as it is enjoyable, and in just a few months I’ve seen pretty astounding changes in my physique. Thank you for all of this wonderful information, you are the best!
Charlie! Dude I love hearing how calisthenics can change lives. I'm so happy the content has been valuable for you! Thanks so much for sharing! 🙏
Whats the workout routine?
Quitting alcohol has definitely more benefits than losses.
Waking early is so powerful. I love getting stuff done before everyone else is up. It's like adding time to your day that you're also very unlikely to have interrupted. Great point!
Honest, succinct and to the point. Much appreciated brother. ✌🏻
Love your content. Short, simple, valuable and no BS
I love this channel. Short, sweet, and potent knowledge from someone with deep experience.
This has perfect timing as I want to ramp up my workouts right now, like this week. Both ideas have been passing thoughts, but its time to put it into action.
I love this. Especially the philosophy behind your abstinence from alcohol. I have started to adopt a similar mindset!
love the things that you did for the community! Thanks Kyles
Thank You, Nguyen!
Currently doing "Dry January" but having 90 days off alcohol to start 2024.
Been implementing these 2 specific tips in 2024 (no drink and being up by 6am, apart from 1 weekend day where I lie in until 7am) and they work.
They are both simple and free to do but are not easy.
Thanks!
Hey Kyle, your volume-based method has honestly been amazing for me, while studying full time, travelling and working I have been able to consistently been able to see progress with just a short workout every day. Thanks a lot 🙏
Just can’t underestimate how important these two lifestyle choices are! I have discovered the benefits of getting up early and reducing alcohol intake in the last few years and undoubtedly when I let these two habits go downhill pretty much everything else does as well. Given me some much needed motivation to get these in check again!!! Thanks
K Boges! I am so thrilled your channel is flying. I remember find your stuff when it was around 5k sub... your ideology on training and the simplicity behind it made so much sense to me. Thank you again for all your taught me and others and keep on keeping on.
Thank you so much, Curtis! I appreciate that kind feedback and the support! Thank you for sticking with me as the channel grows! That means a lot, brother!
This simple and straightforward advice is great! I'm 23 years old and began my fitness journey just a few months ago to prepare for Army basic training. I often binge your videos and forward them to my workout buddies. Keep up the good work!
Wow! Thank you, Owen. I appreciate that. Good luck on your fitness joinery and good luck in basic training!
As a 20 year old just getting started with self improvement it’s so good having these resources right in front of me. I’m able to learn lessons from people with years of experience. Thanks for the advice 👍.
It's always a nice day when you post brother! And this is so true: I really miss waking up early in the morning, but working in the second shift makes it near impossible... I can't wait for my schedule to change again. PS: after some setbacks, I'm about to be done with the first block of the program now, and the results are phenomenal! I can't wait to share them with you soon.
Awesome Kevin! I can’t wait to hear about them! Always great to hear from you.
So wise. I love you, man.
Thanks, Tophe! I appreciate the kind words, brother!
Much love, dude!
I just wanted to say that my mindset and mentality as I entered my 30s mirrored what you talked about in this video almost identically. I happened to stumble across the same decisions and outcomes that you have based on the same logical way of thinking (what's important to me, what do I have to do in order to do it, what does and doesn't help me get there and what is the opportunity cost of not doing those things and make the related calculations) and I must say I'm the happiest I've ever been with my physique and lifestyle than when I was in my 20s.
Great message, great content.
Amazing how the works, right? It's wild how many people I talk to who feel trapped in the sense that they are seemingly helplessly moving down the wrong path and feel they cannot implement a powerful enough intervention to get them off course. And then when you start to dig into their lifestyle, you see that EVERYTHING is fighting against their efforts.
Thanks for this excellent comment, P H! I appreciate the support!
First off, big fan of your channel. I find the clear and consice videos very helpful and am seeing great results from this simple kind of training. I cut out alcohol mainly because it was becoming a crutch and I wanted to make positive changes in my life, but I found out it was the best thing I've ever done for my health, well-being and bank account! Just better in every way. Now my days off are filled with days in nature, training or just catching up with friends doing interesting things. Not just hanging around getting sloshed. Sober = freedom.
Great video Kyle. I like how you phrased "opportunity cost" as we all have to make decisions as to what we put in our bodies and the extra work we would have to put in to pay the cost.
That’s a great way to say it. 🙏💪
Great video Kyle, as per usual. Currently doing the barbell and calisthenics routine which fits great into my busy schedule!
Happy to hear this, Iker BB + C is a great program! Keep at it, making slow and steady progress! Feel free to reach out if you ever need to.

Hey Kyle, loving this! Many will hear but few will listen. Lol. I quit over a year ago bringing any alcohol into the house. I will have a drink with friends on occasion. But I enjoy challenging myself with how long I go in b/t doing that. Sometimes 23 days, 17 days, 28 days, whatever. That works for me. Hope you’re doing well and sure looks like you are!
Simple, on point - bang on brand my G
Thank you, Bouldering Ace! I appreciate that!
I needed this video. You’re always on time
Great advice. It also depends on your friends and who you socialize with. If they have negative habits you pick them up. It’s necessary to find health-conscious friends.
Thanks for the motivation. Somehow I have to get to bed earlier so I can wake up earlier. Late evening is the only time I seem to have to help the family reset for the next day. Cleaning, chores, food prep. But then I’m up late, plus interrupted sleep outside of my control, it’s hard to get up early.
Love these meta- style videos talking about overarching concepts. Would really be grateful if you made some content on avoiding and rehabbing injury/tendonitis.

I love your content man. I've watched a bunch of your videos and everyone is amazing. Good job!
I was more or less depressed from age 13 until age 30. I felt somewhere in the realm of "kind of bad" to even "REALLY bad" mentally and emotionally 70 percent of the time. This was regardless of what was particularly going on in my life, it was chronic and didn't change much due to any changes in life circumstance. Only 30 percent of my life did I feel "pretty good" or even more rarely "really good." I even felt more sluggish most of the time than I thought I should, considering I was living decently healthy.
All that time I went to bed around 1 o'clock at night on average, but I was getting 9 hours of sleep so it wasn't a lack of sleep as such. Since FINALLY mustering up the discipline to CONSISTENTLY go to bed at 10 o 'clock in the evening I legitimately enjoy being alive on a fundamental level in a way I haven't since I was a child. And I have always been moderately healthy in terms of diet, working out and general lifestyle. Don't underestimate the power of your Circadian rhythm and it's importance when it comes to your fundamental well being.
Thanks for sharing
Yeah, for me the life-changing decisions was: going to sleep at the same time every day, losing weight, cutting alcohol and weed, and eating most of the time least processed food.
It doesn’t matter what time I go to bed. After age 40, this body just won’t stay asleep more than a certain number of hours. I have tried a fair number of strategies to no avail. I wonder what would change if I could get even seven hours a night consistently. Hasn’t happened for nearly thirty years after age forty.
@Jack-nn6fo I tried it years ago. Didn’t change anything. Nice for your dad that it helped.
@@oolala53 what about meditation/breathing exercises before going to bed, have you tried anything like that?
Fantastic video!!
Thanks, Irwing!
I came a little late this time but I'm here.
Thank you for the video. Best regards for you. You help a lot of people :)
Great video! Being an early riser and cutting out alcohol sure are huge game changers in life. Beneficial for training and to get ahead in life in other aspects. Sleeping in and drinking (things the majority would rather do) seriously can set you back from what you want to achieve. Becoming an early riser and cutting out the alcohol certainly have been smart decisions made in my life.
Totally, Ryan. For someone struggling to make progress in any aspect of life, these two things are powerful additions to throw in.
One the best sites on the internet. Reminds of a site (Name escapes me now) that analyzed small aircraft accidents and of Dave McLeods's site, he being a professional climber who lives in Scotland. Two activities far removed from what you do, but you and those folks - cut through the proverbial Gordian knot of complicated issues with great clarity.
been working on my plan the last few days and that tip just made everything so much simpler. spending focused time on the important stuff takes priority so gotta improve probability & quality of time spent; so simple and obvious now that it's understood ;D
So glad this connected with you. Sounds like you’re on a great path. Best of luck to you. Keep me posted on how it goes.
Thanks Kyle, I agree waking up early (while the enemy is asleep) allows you to get things done with no room for excuses. You can still have a bad day where everything goes wrong but the feeling of a few good completed tasks sure makes a difference.
quality video as always. much appreciated.

I guess it's the typical college process where alcohol becomes the end all be all. As I got older, I began to move away from strong liquors and basically only drink beer/wine socially ever so often. This definitely has a positive impact on discipline and overall health. I would premise the waking up early only can happen if you go to sleep earlier. This has been a struggle for me, but the times that I was successful have easily been my most productive days. Thanks a ton for pointing out the simple tenants of good health and for always going about it holistically. Honestly, this channel has been the best reference for maintaining a healthy lifestyle!
I've always been a early riser/morning person, but i started waking up at the same time everyday even on the weekends ever since winter break of 2021 and it has been beneficial. I started out by waking up at 8 AM during that break, but then I pushed it down to 6 AM until eventually finding my sweet spot at 4 AM on school days and 5 AM on weekends. This change has allowed me to get a workout in everyday before school as well as feeling more productive during the weekends because I know my peers are sleeping in. I know we shouldn't do things for others sake, but this little hint of competitiveness I have in my mind keeps me going and pushing. Great video like always sir, keep up the quality content!
Awesome mindset!
Thank you so much and dude I 💯 fee you on that. It is highly motivating to know you are out working everyone else. Well done brother and keep at it.

Great stuff, Kyle! I would also recommend barefoot shoes. It forces you to change your gait, engaging your core, glutes, achilles etc. instead of relying on cushioning of the shoes and knees/upper back to absorb impact (which it does poorly in the long run anyway).
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
Nice. Thanks for this video as always bro.
My pleasure! Thanks for the support!
I’ve always considered myself a morning person, I’ll wake up naturally the moment the sun comes up (I live in Mexico, so winters remain more so the same) so close to 6. Exercise needs to be the first thing I do, I’ll go to the gym 3 times a week and run twice. And I enjoy it, but most importantly, I keep doing everything I enjoy doing. I love my 6 AM exercise, my healthy diet, my occasional cheat meals and have a beer or two every other day. I’ve found I feel the happiest when I get to do all of those things, understanding not to take any of those things to a excess.
Totally epic as usual MrB.I have woken up early for time immemorial. I am just wired that way, while my OH sleeps in, its just the way it is, no matter how much I tell her how much I get done. I have stopped now, as I also realise it is totally MY time! And I am able to do, as you mention an hour of workout, it really is the best time for me. Additionally I stopped booze last August. Now I will allow myself the occasional drink, if I am invited out, or a function like a wedding, birthday etc. But then ONLY if i feel I want to, and it is worth the trade off you mention. Coupled with TMAD (which is working great for me) just skipping breakfast, and staying consistent with protein and macros, my weight has gone down 7-8kg and stayed consistent, whilst I have been a body weight exercise practitioner. The only thing I really want to work on is cutting screen time, tricky for a web developer, who also has a Netflix/UA-cam addiction!
So simple, yet so impactful. Thanks for sharing. I gave up drinking beer because of a skin condition. I thought I would miss it a lot, but as it turns out, not at all. Haven't had beer for at least 4 years now..
That's amazing to hear! It's crazy how we can adjust. I used to LOVE beer and considered going into the brewery industry. It was a big part of my life for a long time. I don't miss it, though.

Yeah it's hard to go back once you feel the difference!
I'm 29 and haven't had a drink since July 4th. Wanted to get in the best shape of my life, be more of a morning person and save money. As you mentioned, the money I'm saving on drinks is going right to buying healthy foods. I'm also treating working out and meal prepping as something I want to do which has helped me be very consistent
The 'Gamify Life' principle in practice. If you're playing a game like an MMORPG, your goal is to level up your character as much as you can, make them stronger, better, smarter, increase their performance. Which poses the question, why not live our lives like this? Each practice and habit or any daily event like socializing with new people (each quest) we undergo then becomes an opportunity for us to gain XP in real life, to increase our performance, to level up our current build.
Great video as always man. I always get excited when you post. These videos put my mind at ease during my high stress lifestyle.

Video request! Would love your perspective on incorporating cardio into your weekly routines. I've been employing your approach to (nearly) daily workouts: push/pull/legs with variation through the week. This has included taking increased rest time between sets, and a general decrease in cardio demand in my strength workouts. I''ve incorporated a couple of cardio forward days into the week (sprints, EMOM kettle bells, assault bike etc). Curious about your approach. I appreciate your content!!

Awesome, totally agree with you. One thing that has changed a lot for me is putting a little bit of extra effort, and money, into meal prep... as well as regularly changing recipes. It has made eating healthy so much more sustainable and enjoyable and I actually look forward to eating my meals now. I used to view food shopping and meal prep a chore but I've found a way around it!
For food shopping, I like to try and "speed run" it and get all the items I need as fast as possible whilst listening to fast upbeat music through my headphones. I look like a crazy man in the supermarket but its actually really fun haha! So far I managed to do a weeks food shopping in 14 minutes... thats my new personal best hahaha
As for meal prep I just play some music and have a beer and put effort into good recipes and its more bareable that way
Mountain Man that is awesome! I love your approach. Sounds like fun and gets you to your goals. Well done!

Agree 100 percent about cutting back on alcohol.
I hardly ever drink and I'm happy enough to go without on a night out. Leaves me fresh for the next day. It's better for the finances too as the price of alcohol in Scotland is sky high
Another great video man. Awesome chin ups too.
I am a competing martial artist and it has been hard for me to get a perfect balance of strength training, technique training, and most importantly recovery. Also a big struggle is I am making ends meat by serving tables so I am on my feet walking constantly for 7-8 hours 4 days of the week. I remember you saying that you train in the martial arts so I would really appreciate some wisdom. Also do you do have any specific exercises or suggestions on how I should do my basics to compliment my martial arts? I have recently picked up landmine 180s to target my obliques and I definitely have noticed an increase in my punching power. Thank you for everything you have taught me Kyle, I hope you have a peaceful day :).
I appreciate the shortness of your statements. And I agree from experience. Waking up earlier and drinking less made my life much better. I think there is no need to obsess with not drinking at all as some nowadays do. One danger in the zero tolerance policy with drug consumption is simply that it may lead into a all or nothing thinking. So, generally I would advice people to reduce their alcohol consumption by 80 percent and see what happens. If then, lets say, one year later, you reduce the remaining 20 percent again by 80 percent, most of us should be the pride of ervery doctor in the world. ;)
