Sustainability and accessibility are two factors that are startlingly absent from many training approaches. In my personal and professional opinion, they are two of the most important things to consider. The capability of an exercise intervention to change your health/fitness depends on the sustainability and accessibility of it. Integrating your training as a daily "habit" will lower the effort required to continue it, but habits must be accessible and sustainable, otherwise they will be too disruptive to integrated into daily life. Basic calisthenics are the PERFECT way to integrate productive training into your everyday routine.

      I'm more blessed than mary
      Proof = Luke 11:27-28
27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!”
28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

Luke 8:21 But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
      Matthew 12:46-50
46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.”
48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”.

      Revelation 19:10
10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
      Revelation 22:8-9

3 My defense to those who examine me is this: 4 Do we have no right to eat and drink? 5 Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?
If Peter (peter is cephas read John 1:42) the so called "first pope" was married, why does the catholic church doesn't allow "pope" to marry?

The so called vicar of christ/ pope/holy father Peter called himself a fellow elder in 1 Peter 5:1, and as per the qualifications of elder in Titus 1:5-9 the elder is allowed to get married; then why does the "pope" is required to be celibate and catholic? 6)Our Lord rebuked Peter when he cut of the soilders ear
7)Paul rebuked Peter for being hypocrite because he was acting different in front of Jews and different in front of gentiles.

9)David messed up ( and he has the Holy Spirit),
      10)King Soloman messed up,
      11) Saul messed up and God regretted the decision (1 Samuel 15:10-11).

13)The early church messed up Rev 2:18-20, 1 Corinthians, Galatians.
      14) Apostle John when receiving Revelation worshiped an angel and the angel said "see you do not do that. Worship GOD" Revelation 22:8-9

Just want to repeat this one again because it's SO TRUE in any aspect of life. "Starting and quitting, restarting and quitting again, is a bad habit and not one to cultivate...it eventually robs you of your self-efficacy, which is your knowledge and faith in yourself to do hard things, overcome challenges and reach your goals." And you're right about the power of "small daily wins and the little things you do everyday." Thanks man.

Mindfulness throughout the day and not only during meditation sessions is crucial as well. Going to the gym and completing workouts became easier over time and my mind-muscle connection is really elevated.

I have a 32 inch waist and no debilitating pain or limitations by simply doing the basic functional movement patterns and lots of walking.
I'd bet many people spend the same amount of time commuting to and back from a gym in two days as I spend exercising in a week. I don't miss laying in other people's sweat.

And this eventually robs you of your self-efficacy which is your knowledge and faith in yourself to do hard things, overcome challenges and reach your goals." This literally sums up the way my life has been for the past 20 years. I have zero skills and achievements, I've failed to a point that I don't have any examples of success to recollect for when I fail. Thanks for the videos, K.
I feel very lucky of finding this channel after going through the incoherent, flashy, and irregular waves of the ocean of information that is UA-cam; your channel lays deeper in the water with the richness of fundamental principles.
Following your guidelines, I started training again about a month ago. I have been using the pull-squat-push circuit with two sets per exercise (14 strong sets per week), adding occasional accessory core or posterior chain exercises, doing intermittent fasting as I have been doing for almost 7 years, and working out fasted first thing in the morning after waking up. My workouts last between 20 to 30 minutes and I have been consistent for a month, skipping only three days since I started. I have not felt burned out or exhausted and I am already feeling stronger at my 33s. I am not chasing reps, I am performing with top quality; before adding reps, I make the same exercise at a lower pace to add more difficulty. After I feel I have mastered the exercise with low pace, high tension, and top quality, I will keep progressing.
Thanks very much for your insight. This is the first time I have been so consistent with physical activity, even in a short period of time, since I trained 100 m sprint and long jump for the track & field team in high school.
I wish you the best. Greetings from Colombia!

For years I haven’t trusted myself to reach towards my goals, and I would consider that to be the largest mental defeat I’ve consistently had, that distrust in myself. This is the absolute truth.
I used to take 3-6 months gym membership but only end up going for 2 months max. It's because of the fatigue from waking up early, getting ready, driving, parking, rushing the workout, getting back, eating right, getting ready for work again and driving to office. This itself puts a toll on my physical and mental stamina first thing in the morning, eventually you stop this exhausting chore.
Instead I have bought a dumbell rack and loaded it from 1kg to 20kg pairs. Got an adjustable bench, and a pull up station. This is enough for most freeweight dumbell exercises and builds all body parts. Jogging outside is plenty of cardio. I workout in my underwear also, 100% dedication. It's just me, and my music. I've got great results, am fitter, happier and can workout at my own pace without any ego lifting. I don't want to become a bodybuilder, an aesthetic body looks good enough and is managable.

This is such a great topic that I don't see expressed enough. I always believed that even if your routine is just 10 measly pull-ups a day, you'll make much better progress due to the sustainability factor than trying to do 3-5 rounds of high volume circuit training multiple times a week. There's this go hard or to home mentality that quickly packs on mental fatigue more than people realize. Great content as always, cool to see your subs skyrocketing!

Trying to get out of depression, trying to heal from trauma and so much shit in my life. Not having control or at least feeling like i do and have enough of it might be one of the biggest problems i had in life. So what you said makes sense to as why i keep coming back to working out and doing it consistently. I will try to remind myself of this while i go forward from now on and try to visualize my brain transforming from ''I have no power over anything at all'' to ''Yes, i can''. @furiousmat1667 2 роки тому +4

Everything you said here is spot on.
The part about learning to fail, and the part about making your workout a habit.
Worst way to start is by getting all hyped up and going to burn yourself out to the gym.
If you want to build a habit you need to make it enjoyable. The way I did it is to start really slowly and make sure every session is something I'm going to look forward to. When getting back in shape, I start really slowly: set up some yoga mat and a few free weights in front of the TV, find something to watch, then start doing light exercises. Either yoga poses or stretches or body weight exercises. I do them at a slow pace: not getting out of breath or all sweaty. It'll come to that naturally eventually, but the idea is to *relax* while doing my exercise.
I try to do it consistently, and sure enough, after a few weeks only, I find myself looking forward to that moment in the evening where I'll just be doing my exercise. Better than that, I even get to the point where whenever I watch something I'll just reflexively pull out the mat or the weights and want to do some exercise while I'm there: just sitting on the couch becomes kinda... boring. Like I'm not fully enjoying my moment unless my body's put to work in some way.
From that point the only way you'll go back is if something else in your life really gets in the way of that habit.
Someone who wants to train at a high level would obviously need more than that. You need to put yourself out of your comfort zone much more. But for someone who wants to be reasonably athletic and healthy, that's a great way to get things going. Note also that as you get in better and better shape, your energy and willingness to engage in increasingly more intense physical activity will also increase.

Sage advice! Motivation is the key and there are so many barriers in our lives that get in the way of our goal to be consistent. Training at home and/or with bodyweight exercises removes some of these barriers by making workouts so much more accessible. Instead of travelling to the gym and waiting I can knock out a 20 minute workout during my break at work. The other key thing is enjoyment - if you don't enjoy your training you won't stick to it in the long run.

You have the best fitness channel on You Tube period. I just found you a few days ago. The first video I watched was the Horse Stance. Since then I have watch about ever video you have made. The Horse Stance is going to be a game changer for me. My left hip is a little wore out at my age. I give up squats a few months back. Started back recently but, was already getting that pain in the left hip. Now I can get the benefits of squats with one long rep and less overuse on the hip. I have been doing Horse Stance, Calf Raise, Farmers Carries, and brisk walks or hikes daily. I feel like that is about all I need for the lower body. Thank you for your help.

I just found your channel last week or so. I am a 59 year old woman trying to get overall stronger to get better at skateboarding ( a love I picked up 2,5 years ago). All the time I am overwhelmed by the amount of fitness information on YT. Now that I have studied a lot of your videos, I finally know where I want to be heading. A long way to go as I can't do one perfect push up and a pull up is even further away. But I am confident that I will get there. I simplified my training, total focus on 'greasing the groove' for all joints for the coming weeks (don't want anything aching) and making the core a lot stronger. Just 2 goals (a push up and a pull up) is all that I needed to have. Thank you so much for your videos! They not only point out to me which way to go, but spark joy and dedication at the same time too. Kind regards from Sandra, the Netherlands

I'd like to thank you for changing my life! I've always been scrawny and of the body type that loses weight no matter what. I started a regenerative livestock farm 7 years ago which helped lay a good physical foundation. Started seriously lifting weights a year ago, but it just didn't work for me, even though I remained consistent. I have to say I've seen more results sticking to your advice than any other routine in my life. Going to failure, full range of motion, form quality over quantity, pausing, not ignoring the negative motion, increasing calories... I can't get enough of your videos, everyone serious about fine tuning their bodies through thoughtful simplicity needs to subscribe to this channel! I'm about 2 months in and I'm looking forward to continuing this, I can't believe how sore I am on the regular and how effective these exercises ,properly applied, are at tearing muscle. This is why I have only embraced calisthenics.
One arm one leg push ups, one arm divebomber push ups, one arm push ups, push ups, pull ups, various tricep isolation calisthenics movements, bodyweight double leg squats etc.
I had a double bodyweight bench at 90kg bodyweight, the first day I joined a gym, the first day.
I am not saying calisthenics are superior, all I am saying is IT IS JUST AS GOOD, and specifically because all the things you mentioned.
And also, because, even using a simple push up variation, and trying to shoot for 120 non stop perfect form reps, WILL ENSURE, THAT YOU BENCH DOUBLE BODYWEIGHT.
I am a living example, (i only started doing one arm push ups after already benching double bodyweight) and so are my cousins that got to almost the same number and benched double bodyweight, every time they would be above 100 full rom non stop perfect push ups....
The moral of the story is, if using push ups can get you to elite level relative strength, and if bulking up in bodyweight while maintaining the push ups number that got you to elite relative strength, can keep getting your absolute strength up forever....
Then there is no way why people would "require" external weights to keep increasing strength forever.
There is a reason why Brian Shaw maxes out at 8 strict pull ups and still, he is world's strongest upper body puller or one of them.
The manipulation of relative strength and absolute strength that is possible through calisthenics and eating makes calisthenics limitless, as opposed to more widely accepted beliefs.

    • @tappajaav
      @tappajaav 2 роки тому

Not buying that thought process with push-ups though. 120 strict pushups is very impressive but that's way into muscular endurance territory opposed to pure strength(which benching double your bodyweight is)

    • @mayukhsen8195
      @mayukhsen8195 2 роки тому

@@tappajaav Not really. Push ups are lifting your own bodyweight. The more times you can do it, the lighter your bodyweight is for you. The higher your relative strength.
Yes it is in the endurance territory, but no one ever said strength and endurance can not be matched together.
I think you should look into Russian Professor Wictor Sulianov's slow twitch hypertrophy protocol. Pavel Tsatsouline talked about it a hundred times in every youtube podcast he has been on.
This exemplifies the use of very high reps of bodyweight training to build insane hypertrophy and strength alongside endurance.
The thing about it is this...
Both slow twitch and fast twitch muscle fibres are equally strong for same cross sectional area and length. The upperbody just has less slow twitch muscle fibres.
But after 4 weeks of Sulianovs slow twitch fibre protocol, national level sprinters and experienced lifters added 25 percent to their 1 rep max back squats. Simply by training in the 30-60 rep zone.
The slow twitch muscle fibres come pre equipped with mitochondria, so the endurance also goes up.
Now push ups are different, because they are the ultimate metric of relative strength, and they were always meant to be done in super high reps to build elite strength.

People make too much of a production out of working out. Stay active and consistent. Walk or cycle instead of driving. Run or jog. Do pushups, pull ups, and dips. If you can make it to the gym, do some resistance training. Find a sport or physical activity that you enjoy. Don't overeat or indulge in junk food or alcohol. The other problem I see is people exercise strictly for vanity, and they become disappointed when they don't see the results they hoped for. Work out to be fit and healthy. Looking better is just a side effect.

What a great video. You are so right. And that gym scenario (traffic, waiting, traffic again) was teh reason I stopped. Thanks for being a proponent of long term health and calistethenics!
