I learned how to swim using this technique when I was 1 yr old, as did
my four siblings. We all loved the water and never knew why our whole
lives. We had no memory of learning, just the end result of knowing how
to swim and float. Learning how your body naturally responds to water
at such an early age, leads to a lifetime of enjoyment in and around
water. Our kids will all definitely be taking these lessons right away!

What a heart breaking story. A terrible cost to pay to develop this excellent program which should potentially save many lives... it should certainly be implemented in every household whether they have a pool or not.
Four drowning deaths a day is inexcusable, and this is the type of change we need.

I went through this program when I was 18 months old, and for people saying that it's torture or that it'll cause psychological problems, it's not and it doesn't. Yes, pretty much all babies cry at first because it's unfamiliar. What's important is that they are learning to rescue themselves if they fall in. They won't remember it when they're older, especially if they start learning at 6 months. I've met so many people that my mom has taught and they don't know who she is or remember taking the lessons at all, obviously there is no damage to the kids. And yes, kids swallow water, they have to learn how to hold their breath. Sometimes you can take all the precautions, maybe you don't have a pool, or you have a gate, but my daycare had a pool, where I live, lots of people have pool, I pretty much grew up at a country club, which had a pool, sure is a good thing that I knew how to swim.

both my parents were lifeguards in HS & college & taught us as babies to swim. but this is like a crash course of sink or swim. a bit frightening for any baby. my parents started us in the bath as infants pouring bits of water over us, blowing bubbles in the water etc every day..then in the pool, it all came naturally. we were swimming underwater at age 6 months. but they took alot of time with us , started very young in the water & water sports were & still is an enjoyed recreation for all of us & i think thats the difference in learning.

    • @Br0nto5aurus
      @Br0nto5aurus 2 роки тому +2

The difference is that isr teaches children as young as 6 months to survive in the water, not blow bubbles and play in the water. A child who cannot swim should not be comfortable in the water, that's dangerous. They can play in the water once they're competent in the water; the sooner the better. That's why they begin when the child is developmentally ready, it's a pediatrician recommended survival skill.
Why don't you watch the isr videos of the moms who've lost children to drowning? Their children blew bubbles in the water and splashed around in traditional swim classes, then died as toddlers because they went to the water, that they had been taught to be comfortable around, but they couldn't actually swim.
Should children not have to sit in carseats or get vaccinated either? Compared to the child's life, temporary discomfort is insignificant.

I do like that this is teaching very important survival skills. What I don’t like is the pool water that is coughed/thrown up by the infant. That is very worrisome considering secondary drowning and aspiration pneumonia. I’d need to see detailed research and guarantee for my children not to risk these outcomes.

Oh my gosh swim lessons are the best gift parents could ever give their babies honestly !!!!? I couldn't agree more that this program is hands down the best !!! And I agree with Frances Pellagatti with her comment 👏👏 if I had small children I would definitely put them in swim/ survival classes !! Every child should learn to swim to save his/her little life because accidents happen and all it takes is a quick second of turning your back and your child is under water ! Please parents enroll your precious babies as early as possible.. 6months is it ? In swim classes 😁👍💕

There are other ways to teach your child to swim than ISR. Please know that many swimming instructors are against It because can lead children to feel traumatized every time they’re near a pool. You and I know that they won’t drown and the ‘teacher’ will step in but they don’t now that. Every lesson feels like a life or death situation to them, which can lead to a fear of water

All babies know how to swim straight from the womb, but if you wait too long to teach them, they forget. Some people were taught not too long after birth and they just kept on teaching like every week and it stays in their mind. Watch some videos of babies swimming peacefully and you might understand better

Im a swim teacher and if I did this the kids would defs learn. Unfortunately i teach as part of a bigger business and parents are allowed to cuddle and “help” the child. Unfortunately this teaches them nothing. In saying that the kids I teach do learn to swim. But theyre typically 2-3ish when they can paddle to the side and grab on. Younger ones can flot surprisingly well and yes they learn to do this but its sad that there are methods that work better but parents prevent this.
Edit: i dont fully agree with the methods of the video, eg upsetting children as its entirely possible to do this without scaring them into crying. And the woman said that crying is “typical” for children with their methods. But i do agree this method does work.

    • @kittenmimi5326

I like how people are just assuming through theoretical possibilities about how the children would be traumatized when there is litteraly extensive intense research about how to save lives like this from drowning that litterally have no ounce of any encounters about any of the children being traumatized and even from peoples experiences of them growing up and having truama.

ISR saved me, I'm alive because of it. Slipped outside into the backyard near our pool when I was 18 months old. Mom looked away for a second. I fell in, and because of ISR, knew to turn onto my back and float. My mom found me 2 minutes later. Accidents happen. I plan on putting any future kids through ISR.

Yeah ikr? That's like saying since a child would scream snd cry when they're being fed because they (somehow) doesn't like food therefore giving them food would traunatize them and so you should not give them food. See it's just a dumb logic. I'd rather my child cry for a little bit rather than them being dead

Does anyone watching this video has any knowledge about the term "dry drowing"? Many kids, hours after swallowing too much water, end up in the hospital with oxygen treatment as the very least form of treatment and death as the worse result. It's very serious, look into it. I understand death by drowning is horrible also but the baby needs to be introduced to swimming in a very slow a safe manner.

JK0Playa I think that they hope that the parents continue to play with there kids in pools after this so they learn it’s not something to be afraid of, but if an accident does occur they can hopefully save themselves. I started a swim class at around 3 months old, my sister around 3 years old, in Louisiana. The teacher had some of these techniques, but mostly she just threw us in next to her and helped us a little to make sure we wouldn’t drown, but not much else. I can now swim great and I’m lifeguard certified and have never been scared of the water (at least to my knowledge).

What's horrific to know is parents actually have pools while having babies no pool no drowning, I would never until my child is around six or so if people have pools and babies it's only the lack of parenthood from parents, just awful

There’s nothing magical about this. I’ve taught babies and toddlers how to comfortably learn how to swim without them screaming. This is actually disturbing. This lady is delusional and the parents are being misled. Breathing in water is dangerous and could be deadly. Dry drowning is real. The mother was clearly concerned trying to get the water out of her baby and the teacher said “little burp”. That wasnt a little burp. The teacher claims the children are crying because they do not know her. Why are they still crying week after week. The argument is that this is better than a dead child. Of fucking course its better than a dead child. But its not the only way to teach a child to learn how to swim. I felt genuinely sick watching this.

I believe that after all those lessons babies will have better chance at surviving. However I think we need to modify the program a little. If a baby cries too much or throws up too much water we should give them a break. Every baby is different so we should apply different training methods to different babies. A nice training program should have a bitter and sweet feeling, not an all the way throughout torture.
