Thank you so much for making this! Im a lifeguard and swim instructor and ive just recently started teaching infants how to swim. I've been just winging it up until this point, (only ever teaching children and adults previously) This knowledge is super helpful. Thanks again!
thank you so much for your lovely positive message, we really appreciate it!
can i ask.something
Well done, great clear instructions! I also love that you stress to make it fun with lots of smiles. Cause that can make your little feel nice and safe.
Very clear and safe. Love this educated video for me as an instructor.
I so wish I was in the UK. This is the best instruction I’ve seen so far. Keep up the good work Puddle Ducks.
excellent baby safety/ swimming advice
So at what age should i start with the swiming lessons, my kid is 4months old. And should i be concerned about the chlorine in the water?
Thank you for this video. I got halfway through and so many tips. I'm gonna come back for the second half of the video when I complete the first couple things I learned.
I came here for the blowing and the kicking, I didn't know how to introduce it to him lol.
Is cold pool water okay for newborns? I'm taking my 3 month old swimming soon during our vacation and was wondering this
I heard you want to wait until 3 months for pool, lake, or Ocean water, so you should be fine. :)
@@eliseweitzel6334 awesome, thanks for the reply!
Also: Introduce your baby to the target temperature in the safety of home first. The advice they gave in this video was very helpful (wet a towel with the water of the place he/she will be going in and let them experience it before putting them in).
The water should not be too cold however (anything lower than 70°F for more than 30mins) as babies are at risk for hypothermia as a result of their small size and the inability to regulate their body temperature on their own.
Going to the pool at my moms house tomorrow for summer! So cute I’m going to be using these techniques with my princess with lots of precaution 👸🏻
Thank you
How did it go. Am about to teach my son.

This is such a great source. Super informative video.
How often is pool time recommended for an infant to be sure their ears aren’t affected for example?

Very clear explanations and demonstrations! Thank you!
What if I'm worried about swimmers ear?
Do you have a in person curriculum of how to teach babies to swim
Great information! Thank you for sharing.
I saw some parents let their baby go swimming when 3 months old, some parents baby is 1-2 weeks old. So, how old baby can learn to swim (safe)? Thank you.
Me watching this for my future baby Because I don’t want him to be like me 👁👄👁
Same mine is due in 5 months
Me too lol
Looooooool
Same
Omg same lol
Same
As much as I know that babies develop differently, but could you share a good age to start my baby with in swimming?
based on NHS advice, there is no recommended minimum age, just go when you are ready and feel they are ready.
is it important to introduce baby to a swimming pool that's body temperature?
what baby swimsuit do i need
is that water warm?
Of course, one of the main considerations of taking a baby swimming is the heat of the water, it needs to be a minimum of 31 or 32 degrees
Is it in Australia??
Must be warm or can be on cold water?
What is the baby wearing?
What if they scream every time they are all the way back in the water? I see a lot of babies that hate floating on their backs. Do we just wait until they are comfortable with it before moving on?
What age can babies go to public pools?
Any age but usually after a couple of months is best
Why do you keep checking the feet
It's to encourage good toes, which are toes pointing away not up. This gives the legs more flexibility and the ability to move more water. Even if the swimmer is a baby, it's a great idea to start good habits early.
At what age can we introduce baby to swim
Excellent video, thank you
Thanks. It's very helpful.
Good stuff
This is excellent!
At what age can you start with this?
usually once your baby has had all its injections and innoculations
Is it dangerous if the water goes in 2 month old baby’s ear???
The ear canal is separated by the ear drum into two parts: an “external” section and a “middle” section.
The ear drum (or tympanic membrane) protects the middle ear. Because it is a barrier, if water gets into the outer ear, it cannot cause a middle ear infection.
The only exceptions are if your baby has ear tubes or a perforation in the eardrum.
From personal experience, you should only really take a baby into the swimming pool once they have had all their regular inoculations.
Thank you! Very informative
What about their ears? Is it ok to be in the water?
thegunawangift can you go into the water ? Are your ears ok ? Baby’s are just smaller people
What a weird question ... :-/
Good question
Good question
Is there no water in the womb?
Why not use floats
I don’t understand the need to lay the baby down on a wet mat before you bring them into the pool . How are you supposed to wet the mat safely while holding them. Also couldn’t you just as easily slip on the wet pool deck? I prefer to take my baby in with me down steps holding the railing with my other hand. Less trouble and not likely to result in a baby falling onto a hard surface

To let them know that they are getting wet
I do not have children, but I know for a fact, I would not try to get into the water by myself with an infant without someone there to help me. DUH
Thanx! Absolutely fantastic piece of info
Some people think that the baby can be introduced to the pool right at birth.
The theory is baced on the fact that mankind previous related ancistors are fish
What is your opinion on it?

Lindo vídeo
my baby weighs 10 kg, i cant do that stuff
Water = buoyancy, most people can support school-age children or even adults in water
That baby is so damn cute :3
This desires me to have a baby . How cool wouldn’t that be if I had a little human of my own what knew to swim
might i suggest, prepare and plan and make sure you’re ready. don’t just have a child because you want to swim with a baby… this comment lowkey scares me lmaooo
@@Yogscastrocks209 I think they know that…
I like how you say water like....woahta. The R is completely Gone lol.
You've never heard this pronunciation before?😐
Wow
I am not familiar with western culture. I know it is safe. But is not the baby a bit too young. Would not it be better to let the baby swim after it is big enough to walk?
its not about western culture, search more about it.
babies are actually at an excellent age to learn to swim. besides that, 76% of the world is covered with water... better teach them young..
as long as you are with them constantly they pick it up in no-time what so ever.;-) and what is a greater feeling for a parent to know that their little ones won,t drown if they ever fall in water by accident.
@@redsampler2017 And why would you take your infant child who cannot even walk near water? Why would you let such situation occur?
Let the thing grow a little, until then why do you have to go near water?
@@blacknwhite6186 you can look up on youtube: baby swimming ..
they are better swimmers than you
think. and they even like it.
the country i come from its perfectly normal to train your baby or young child how to cope with water.
we have a lot of water to deal with being under water for the largest part if we didn,t have a lot of systems to keep us dry.
@@redsampler2017 should we maybe wait until they can walk to the pool and fall down, risking to drown? Babies passed 9 months under water, it is something natural for them. They lose it as they grow. So it's never too early to put them to swim.
Ok

A lot of talking, that Sheila sounds as if she s got a mouth full of marbles

That was rude and insensitive of me to say. This whole trump disaster has me reeling. No excuse, sorry for the mean comment
yes because she is explaining and telling lot of important info. in schools and universities takl a lot too.
What is the purpose to doing that for? For what I see is only to torture the baby, and that is absolutely abuse, where the abuse law, and where the the chid protected, Don’t do that to a chid who can not protect themself please.
The purpose is to teach a baby to swim so if there is ever an accident, which does happen, they don’t drown. It isn’t child abuse. It’s to prevent accidental drownings that happen all the time. As a parent with a big pool in my backyard, having my baby know how to swim is very important to me.
Are you serious? This should be mandatory to every kid so they learn to swim at the earliest age…
You’re a fucking worthless idiot. This is to keep them from fucking drowning.
My baby enjoys it
Torture and abuse? Oh please. What’s wrong with you?
Thank you! Excellent video
thank you~!
