- Recorded August 11, 2012 at the Wine Country Acoustic private concert in Santa Rosa, CA. The venue is an outdoor garden courtyard in the heart of the Sonoma County Wine Country. We can never express enough thanks to Gregory for sharing his wonderful gift of music on this magical evening. He's a remarkable talent and, perhaps more importantly, a kind and thoughtful person. Thanks also to James Han for the beautiful support on piano. Our door is always open!
If you have it in your heart to appreciate this song, you are already a friend of mine.
Probably a contender for the best song of this century, the most poetic song in a long long time.
Agreed
Ever in my opinion
Es muy buena, pero tampoco tanto...
@@Mulder96At no. It is that good
i've listened to at least 5 performances of this song and every time he sings "i threw stones at the stars but the whole sky fell" it feels like the world stops spinning
Ikrr, I always think the same when listening to this song. Wonder why that is? Such a beautiful, melancholy melody.
Quite possibly one of the best lines ever written. It grabbed me too.
I think what he is singing about is the stories of truths we are given as children, but we turn away from them as our journey of life goes on.Then suddenly we realize as the sky's fall what really matters and the Truth really matters we remember and at that moment we have come full circle and find Peace in this crazy spinning world and in the Storm
Rarely do I find myself beginning to call a song perfect, but the more I listen to this and the older I get...
I believe it is indeed a perfect song.
With you on that
first listen and I'm not hearing it yet.
yes it is
100 percent
"I've gone crazy, couldn't you tell.
I threw stones at the stars but the whole sky fell."
Such a great song!
My favorite line as well.
Just out of curiosity, what are you getting out of this particular line?
I think those 2 lines perfectly sum up the entire song and that moment in your life when everything you once "knew", now feels like bullshit.. You're always reaching for the stars and when you realize that youre never going to actually touch one of those stars you lash out. Throw stones, lose your mind. It never works out for you though, throwing stones just makes everything else fall apart all around you. To me, for me, this song is about life. All of its trials and how people handle them and their quest for stability. Those 2 line just sum it all up for me. It could very well be about a drunk man just passing out in a barn but I think this song is literally perfect so I dont want to argue about what it means. Please be respectful if you feel differently about this song.
Resistance to what happens is throwing stones at the stars.... a kind of pathos and yet even the smallest gesture or event can trigger a complete collapse of what you thought was true (the whole sky). In this song he is abandoned on his wedding day and the whole world breaks down. But any attempt to examine this song falls short because the song delivers on its own and I ultimately don't really know why I respond to it so strongly, which is why I think it is great I guess.
Greatest line of lyrics ever written
For some reason I can't explain, this song makes me think that it's possible, at my age, to fall in love again and be a girl again. Our songs are just like prayers still.

😢
Ugh, the acoustic versions are so much better than the album. Everything about this man melts me to my core and heals me. Every word, every note of this performance is love.
A horse trying to sleep disliked this.
The piano player did an amazing job to work with the fluid timing that Gregory fed into this song ... this performance is perfect.
Yeah I feel like he changes his tempo with feeling. I do the same thing with my music, it's unintentional but works so well. If you're a one man show atleast
Gregory displays in this song many wonders. He is soothing, he is magic, he is a warm fireplace, he is home at Christmas, he is pure love. Listen to his voice, feel his lyrics, and know that you too are beautiful, like this man, and like his song.
The Stable Song brings stability to my life.
"I threw stones at the stars but the whole sky fell."
It is so rare to hear people who performs so much more richly and beautifully in life than in the studio. The talent here is really impressive - lyrics, voice, piano and guitar.
John Mayer, Dave Matthews, The Dirty Heads, Counting Crows, Imagine Dragons, and Milky Chance are the bands I've seen live that are better than in the studio.
heard this on a tv show.... had to shazam it.. this song is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! it seriously brings tears to my eyes and chokes me up.... its amazing... absolute song of the century contender for me.....
What show was it? First time I heard it was watching The Peanut Butter Falcon
Just watching him perform this live brings tears to my eyes.
Yeah I’ve bin crazy couldn’t you tell?
I threw stones at the stars but the whole sky fell..❤️
Best lyrics ever written
So I've been playing his on repeat for the past hour or so...
Singing harmonies along with him right now at 4:21am Oct 21st......... Dreaming of the day i get to sing with him in person. We both live in Colorado, so........ ya never know :)
A truly pure performance by Gregory ... but ... that pianist tho!!!
Ok, I'm now convinced, greatest lyrics ever written are "I've been crazy couldn't you tell? I threw stones at the stars, but the whole sky fell"
This is correct.
So beautiful my eyes tear up
Nothing describes the human condition better than this song. Oh God like Zach Byrd said, it is the perfect song.
I discovered this guy thanks to Pandora, been following him ever since, lovely music.
So much soul is put into this. Wow.
I'm debating doing a cover of this.
Best version of this song I've ever heard. Sound's so pure and clean with that lovely acoustic guitar and a piano. Every other song on this session sound incredible too. Beautiful 💙

I’m a player myself, so the sparser the arrangement the more I like it.
Damn
Someone should really put some thought towards making all these tracks played that night, (uploaded by Mark Rasbah) into an album. Every track is 🙌 @GregoryAlanIsakov 😉😉
Was the pianist improvising? Sure looked like it! Either way, sounded great together!
Lyons, Colorado is where he wrote it?
♥ ♪ ♥
Anyoine knows the pickup that he is using?
hmh, cool :D
does anyone know what kind of mic he uses that makes his voice sound like it’s coming out of an old radio??
Very cheap Mic + great sound equipment and sound tech. He does this In the studio too
It's a harmonica mic

Greg - Zach Bryan has stolen the melody of your verses with his song "I Remember Everything". Please don't let him get away with it.
