"Whosoever wields it, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." Steve needed to wield Mjolnir. If Thor was wielding Mjolnir, Steve would no longer have the power of Thor, and having 2 Thors on the battlefield is better than a single Thor.
He would have still had the power because you have to remember Stormbreaker is sentient. It’s cannon so I’m sure storm breaker would have given him the power, but it’s really just that it felt betrayed by Thor so it went to captain so this video and concept entirely is useless and not cannon
@@Fenrir_Gaming46 Stormbreaker might be sentient, as demonstrated in Love and Thunder, but Stormbreaker doesn't have the ability to grant the power of Thor the way Mjolnir does.
The answer is simple. Stormbreaker has no enchantment. And 'He, whoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor'. Stormbreaker doesn't grant superpowers
@@gerardflynn7382 Basically. If Cap kept wielding the axe, He would loose the Thunder god powers he gained by picking up the Hammer.. By making him keep the Hammer, Thor ensured that the Forces of Thanus had to face 2 Thunder gods.
mjolnir doesn't judge power levels. it judges worthyness. you can be weak physically, but worthy, and holding mjolnir gives you the power of thor. it's more of an ethics question then a physical power one. a good example is Throg or simon waterson, a human cursed to be a frog. as a frog, he was still deemed worthy and has the powers of thor.
Mjolnir gives the person wielding it the powers of Thor, Stormbreaker would require one to inherently be as powerful as Thor to wield it effectively. Thats why he told cap to use the “little one”
@@fenrirgaming37 NO, a Captain Asgard costume would have been badass. Cap's suit at least use to be, might still be mail. The armor on the arms would have been as close to mail as movie Cap would have ever been.
I think Stormbracker would be less effective in the Hands of Steve Rogers since it amplifies Thors Power and Steve simply has no Asgardian Power to amplify.
Pretty sure the only reason that he told Steve to take the little one was because the little one is what gave Steve Thor's power because he was worthy since mjolnir was enchanted only someone worthy could wield it and wield the power of Thor with it stormbreaker for Steve would have just been a normal old ax without any power since it's not enchanted like mjolnir I mean maybe he could summon the bifrost but that's probably it because I think the ax itself has an inherit ability to summon the bifrost
If Steve dual wielded Stormbreaker and Mjolnir then he would gain the power of (base level) Thor and have it amplified by SB. But that would be a less efficient use of resources, which is what I think Thor was really doing (using the weapons most efficiently). Mjolnir had become redundant in Thor's hands, giving him no more power than he already had. And Steve dual wielding would leave Thor without a weapon, and SB not amplify his King of Asgard power, which is just a greater power multiplier than amplifying the base level Thor power that Mjolnir grants.
Mjolnir grants it's wielder the power of Thor. Stormbreaker does not. In Cap's hands, it's just a magic flying axe. In Thor's hands, it can channel and augment his power.
I always somewhat thought of Thor and Captain America kinda like brothers in a way both have respect for each other and are warriors as well and both have a strong heart at what they do
@@ZachofPotatoes732 The closest thing to a battle between Thor and Cap was in the first Avengers movie when Cap was breaking up the fight between Thor and Iron Man. Hit hit Cap's shield and they all got blasted closer to each other😂
To be fair it is not about physical strength. sure, Thor respects Captain America’s raw power and skills but what Thor respects the most is Cap’s moral courage and the fact that he doesn’ let his moral compass become corrupted by power and greed. Truth be told we all knew that Cap was worthy in Age of Ultron when they were messing around with Mjolnir because to be honest you cant budge Mjolnir if you are unworthy to wield such power. Cap could have picked it up right there but he didn’t care enough to do so and Thor is one of Cap’s best friends so he pretended to not be able to actually pick it up. Cap is a good man all the way through and he leads with his heart because his heart is always in the right place, even if he isn’t always considered the good guy because he is willing to go against demands that are pushed upon him.
7:11 Much as I do like this line of thought, I'd like to present an alternative. We all know Thor is extremely protective of Mjolnir, and still relied on it as recently as earlier that day, in needing to remind himself that he was still worthy. Odin's enchantment on the hammer was "whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." Much as he respected Steve, I think he was also deferring to Odin's judgment, more than offering his own blessing. After all, Thor was still swimming his way out of his depression while in a battle for the universe's survival, and Thanos did just get through whipping Thor's ass pretty thoroughly until Steve saved him with Mjolnir.
Well he mjolnir is not the same hammer hela destroyed it's from a different timeline. The moment the same destroyed mjolnir was back and repaired Thor was excited to see his old hammer again which makes stormbreaker jealous lol
8:33 Spiderman is probably one, if not the only other person Thor would trust. One of the comics where spider man dies, Thor is there and says Spiderman is in Valhala
Was made clear in the movies: The power of Stormbreaker would destroy a mortal. It's not like Mjolnir that grants a worthy user the powers of Thor. Stormbreaker is just a really powerful weapon that is far too much for a human (even a super soldier) to handle.
Thor would literally shit his pants about that fact. According to the books Asgardians are said to be created by the Beyonders, who were created as some sort of multiversal border control by the Celestials. Imagine Thor considering himself a god and basically meeting the creators of his creator.
I think everyone over thinks it . Whoever be worthy shall possess the power of Thor . Meaning he's a thor also basically and can summon stormbreaker as well. Also he could be protecting Steve but because storm breaker can be used against him like was almost done to him by Thanos
Based off of the comics, beta ray bill would be the follow up for storm breaker. If I remember right, both Thor and beta ray bill both won the respect of Odin and bill was gifted storm breaker while Thor got milnor
Adoptive children of the All Father inherently get a major power boost. Not to mention... who knows where or what material, molecules, atoms and so on... that Eternity conjured up out of thin air to bring her back. She could be the literal embodiment of the power cosmic.
The hammer has a cosmic entity trapped in it . Everything you fight Thor you were fighting 3 people. Thor the cosmic entity and the Odin force. Basically Thor cheating every fight . The hammer is powerful it's another character
Even a WorthySteveRogers? That gives him the strength of Thor! SteveRogers has one of the strongest minds, incorruptible moral and heart.! In the comics when he stood by himself against Thanos and let it be known… “As long as 1 Avenger still stands you will lose Thanos”
Incorruptible? What his decision to stay in the past following his lustful urges to be with Carter, risking the integrity of the sacred timeline. Or that off screen affair that Infinity War eluded to with Nat after Bruce's return. or his seemingly 100% loyalty to the US that did a full 180 in the Avengers after learning SHIELD had its own agenda and secrets essentially turning him into a double agent right then and there only utilizing the perks that came from SHIELD resources and Stark Tech before periodically falling off the grid when he pleased. What knowing the truth about a close friend and keeping it a secret until the two of them had an all out Civil War? What about the fact that we know he made out with Peggy's niece... only to come to the later realization that when he refused to return to his rightful spot in the timeline and married Peggy. Agent 13 essentially became his niece. He made out with his own niece! or he intervened with the sacred timeline further more to prevent that. So much corruption. I was thinking I might be able to come up with one funny notion about Cap to make him seem corrupt and we'd all get a laugh out of it. Now I believe a could sit here all day and remember questionable action or motives he has displayed possibly making him the most corrupt Avenger ever! Hope he stays out of politics!
"Peter Quill would be able to mentally handle it because of his Celestial mental faculties- though, his physical strength and stamina is CLEARLY lacking... ...but if he were to reactivate his powers through Prof. Charles Xavier's training, there's no telling how strong Peter would become..." What is the difference between a Celestial and X-gene? Aren't they the same, with the X-gene being a *weaker* and *mutated* version of passed down celestial genes?
If Peter Quill returns to the MCU in the future, it would be interesting to see this meeting... followed by him joining 'Deadpool and the New Mutants' in Deadpool 4.
Being on earth now with his grandfather- he could move on in so many exciting ways from the guardians. Maybe even meeting with The Eternals and his celestial Cousins.
Peter only had his celestrial powers so long as Ego was alive, it wasn't genetics like the X-gene. It was an extension of Ego, he literally says it at the end of the movie. By time Peter meets Thor his powers were gone and he was a regular human
@@TrueGraveHeart I think what you mean is that Marvel doesn't want to bring Quill back in any form as a major player, and his celestial gene is now inactive, just as we have thousands of inactive genes as humans that aren't expressed. The mutate with time, die, and are reconstructed as we live. Also, Ego is an egotistical pathogical liar and murderer- why believe him? All of his love was fake and I doubt he cared for quill even in his dying moments.
@@TrueGraveHeart Peter Quill's matter and consciouness were half formed because of Ego, so he is an empty vessel with no power but still the ability to hold an infinity stone. His body before he activated his celestial powers through Ego was able to handle it. He also kicked major ass in Guardians 3. The gene is what channeled his powers, and now being inactive, he's a 'just a human'. But let's dig into the meaning of Ego's words. It was a tone of frustration and mockery that Quill would give up all of that power to change and transform the Universe for friends and family that he already had. Ego understood more than anyone how short and fleeting human life was, cared for what his son could become- but didn't care for his son the way he was, like Yondu did. This phrase alone is not substantive enough evidence, especially given the other scenes (confounding variables): Peter Quill's celestial power, now activated, was being sucked out of Ego because Ego was weak alone. I rest my case. There's no point in you continuing this futile argument- but if it wasn't one, I do admire your skepticism and do understand the importance of presenting all of the facts to the table (unlike modern journalists).
It wasn't that Thor trusted Cap with his power, Cap proved worthy as the requirement of the enchantment Odin himself put on the hammer in the 1st Thor movie. Some people say that the enchantment should have worn off after Odin died and that would allow anyone to use the hammer but the timeline the hammer comes from is one where Odin is still alive which the enchantment would still be effective. I think Thor was worried about Cap being able to wield the power of strombreaker without immediate side effects because in Age of Ulton during the lifting contest, Cap was the only one who was able to move the hammer and Thor got worried and then immediately relieved when Cap didn't life it. I also think that Hela being able to hold the hammer and then destroy it is because, she was was only released after Odin died which released the enchantment on the hammer.
Asgardian Enchantments are...tricky. In Norse Mythology, as well as the Marvel Universe, Asgardian "spells" (for lack of a better term) are based more on Belief than on the Power of the Caster, and the same goes for the All Father. While you wouldn't necessarily call it "worship", Odin's power as the All Father comes from the Belief of his subjects in his power and ability to keep them safe and maintain order: this is why Odin grew progressively more powerful with each Realm he conquered/liberated. The same is true of the "spell" he placed on Mjolnir: even though Odin may be dead, the Enchantment hasn't ended because more people (Thor in particular, being the new All Father) still believe it remains in effect...so it did. If Thor were ever to convince himself that the spell SHOULD have died with Odin then it might, but since in Thor's mind that's how it has always been and how it always should be, that's how it is.
I think the biggest sign of respect is when Cap first wields Mjolner and Thor says "I knew it!" with a laugh. He wasn't jealous or angry, but genuinely happy to see that Cap was worthy to wield the weapon. You can argue about when he had the thought Cap might be able to wield Mjolner, whether it was Age of Ultron or sometime else, but overall, it showed that Thor definitely respected Cap.
Eye test: MCU super soldiers are Bo Jackson times 20. Steve Rogers power to weight ratio is 60 watts/lb. Peter Parker and the average asgardian about 180 watts/lb...but the asgardians weigh 3 times as much as a similar sized human. Thor is a different thing altogether- around 1200 watts/lb at 640lbs. The gap in physical power between Thor and Peter is greater than the gap between Steve and Bo Jackson.
Thanks for doing a Thor video. I feel like after Love and Thunder everyone just gave up on him. Thos is one of my favorite Avengers, especially the Chris Hemsworth version. He brings levity to a very serious character and that was a fantastic choice for Marvel to make for him. Please do more videos like this about unresolved things from the Infinity Saga!
Although I understand where you're coming from, in the fact that when Thor took back his hammer from Captain Rogers, part of it was because the power might have been too great for Rogers but the are there part of it is he literally sacrificed his life to make that axe, and as you said it amplifies this power. If Steve Rogers had stormbreaker for the rest of the fight, Thor's power would have been weaker, because as you said stormbreaker amplifies his power it wasn't just that he was worried about Roger's mind and body. It was the fact that he was worried that he would not have the power to help the avengers win if he did not have stormbreaker by his side. Any new that giving Rogers mjolnir, would not only make Steve stronger. It would help bring the avengers the win. Because their combined strength and skills are what helped them defeat Thanos, and distract him, and bring the downfall of the mad titan. Please ignore any grammar errors, I'm typing this on my phone.
You mentioned the mead in ‘Age of Ultron’, but didn’t mention how Mjolnir moves slightly when Steve tried to lift it (and Thor reacts to it)… No one else was able to get Mjolnir to move except Thor (obviously), Steve and Vision (though does he count since he’s a machine?)
Odin's spell didnt exclude androids and cyborgs though. "Whoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy...." just refers to a person, a being with self-awareness, which Vision is without the slightest doubt.
I think that strombreaker channelize and amplifies the lightning and transferring it to thor's body (thunder power) ! Which on other hand mjolnir also channelize (less than strombreaker) the lightning but it can't amplify it. It only helps in like training wheels to use lightning powers other than thor. But with strombreaker it's bit different it not only grants the user beable to use lightning powers but also harness it (which probably only thor can). As thor is an asgardian and god of thunder himself it doesn't affect or damage him. On other side captain is simply a super human which has human limitations. Like the lightning channelized through strombreaker could hurt captain's skin or internal organ, muscles damage. That's why thor didn't let captain use the strombreaker and gave him mjolnir to use. CAN THIS BE A POSSIBILITY ?
Thor has a special attachment with Stormbreaker that he didn't have with Molner. The energy used to create Stormbreaker actually passed through Thor while he was holding the gate open. Thor's own energy is part of that energy.
Peter ISN'T human. He's half-celestial. You know... those giant incredibly powerful beings rarely ever depicted on screen for more than a moment? Calling him "just a human" ignores the entire plot of the Guardians' movies.
Do you not recall Peter losing all of his Celestial powers at the end of the second movie by killing Ego? He's basically a regular mortal by Infinity War.
@slothfulfrostgod5281 All his "powers" really ever amounted to was plot armor anyway. Which he still has. But I guess that doesn't make him a superhero. I stand corrected.
I think you are correct to a point. I think Cap would have eventually succumbed to wielding the power of SB. He would have went mad and his body would have eventually been destroyed. No human, not even Cap would ever be capable of wielding such power.
Mjolnir was specifically designed to teach, tame, and harness Thor's power, no one else. When Oden cast him out, he used the Allfather magic to curse Mjolnir, saying 'He, whoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor'. This is what gives Steve or anyone else worthy, the power of Thor when they use Mjolnir. They are not getting Mjolnir's power, they are getting Thors power, from the curse, which Mjolnir channels. If not for the allfathers curse, Mjolnir would just be a hammer for anyone else, of any race. Now Stormbreaker is another thing entirely, it's definitely an amplifier and Kings weapon, but the secret is, due to how it was forged, it has part of Thor's soul in it. Why else did he "need the axe" as he lay "dying" from holding the iris open on the forge, and it came to his hand with him being unconscious? It is now a part of him.
Speculate all you want, because REASONS!!! Anyway, to sum it up, "It sounded good to the writers, so that is the direction they wanted to take for the sake of the story!"
The reason Steve and Jane gained powers similar to Thor was a side effect of the Enchantment Odin put on Mjnoir to teach Thor a lesson it wasn't part of it originally.
The story that needs to be told is how steve protected the sacred timeline for decades by taking over Hydra. How both orginzations had to violently cooperate in order to guared the future they avenged.
I almost completely forgot about that scene where Thor gives Cap some Asgardian mead, and cap was still battle ready after drinking it. Cap may not be Asgardian but he is still one you dont wanna underestimate either. If he can handle Asgardian mead aged for a thousand years then i think it wouldn't be to bad.
I believe it’s not for this reason because Mjolnir only gives you the power of Thor, but storm breaker doesn’t so giving Steve Rogers Mjolnir was so that he would get the powers of Thor so that he would be at his peak strength while Thor took storm breaker because it amplifies his powers, but doesn’t actually give anybody else. The powers so storm breaker to Captain America would have just been a normal battle ax which is nowhere near as powerful as Mjolnir which gives him the powers of Thor, essentially they swapped weapons so that both of them would have the most powerful weapon for them individually not because storm breaker would kill Steve Rogers
Thor wasnt adamant that captain america couldn't use storm breaker. He just knew that Mjulnir(not even gonna try to fix the spelling) liked cap, and thor wanted the one he helped forge. Cap's super soldier serum wouldve counteracted the effects of storm breaker as opposed to what couldve happened to someone like quill, whose a regular human. Nobody ever said "non asguardians would crumble under the pressuer of an asguardian". Thor specifically said YOUR mind would crumble
if you recall the first thor movie odin cast thor out of asgard and enchants the hammer with the words whoever holds this hammer if he be worthy shall possess the power of Thor meaning the moment steve roger picked up the hammer with the enchantment of worthiness on it he was the next thunder god but while thunder is part of a storm it is only a small part of it
Mjolnir doesn't allow people to channel the thunder powers of Thor, and wasn't specifically made for Thor, it is the "Prince" weapon, meant for the heir of the King of Asgard to wield, that's why Hela used it and had it before Thor was even born. The only reason why Jane and Rodgers would have "Thor Powers", was specifically because of the enchantment Odin put on the hammer in the first Thor movie. Before this, anyone with sufficient strength would have likely been capable of lifting Mjolnir, and would not have Thor powers. Stormbreaker was likely intended to be a "King" weapon for Thor when he eventually took over as King of Asgard. Stormbreaker was the "New Hotness" for Thor and he was likely not willing to let anyone use it, as it was like a new toy for him. Though, there could be something regarding his comment to the Guardians, unless he felt it wasn't a smart idea to entrust such powerful weapons in the hands of Mortals, and complete strangers at that, and so he came up with a plausible lie or stretched the truth to avoid having to make similar weapons for them.
There's not a single hint at Stormbreaker being invented strictly for Thor's ascension. Traditionally, the reigning king of asgard wields Gungnir, Odins spear. Which does everything what Stormbreaker can, but is also capable of directly channeling Energyblasts from the Odinforce and controlling the Destroyer. However, that one got lost during Ragnarök, thats why the Director had to come up with another King's weapon and decided to use the mcu variant of Stormbreaker. Which by comic lore would be nothing more than a 1:1 copy of Mjolnir, including the enchantments.
This is overthought a bit. There is another besides Love that can wield Stormbreaker but we have only seen his face in statue in Ragnarok his name is Beta Ray Bill. Also it is not only the Super Soldier Serum at work in Steve Rodgers. The serum made him a “superman” because while physically sickly and weak, he had the heart of a Superhero. That’s why when Thor sees Steve Rodgers wielding Mjolnir he says “I knew it”. I believe that when each Avenger tried and failed to lift it. One of the faked not being able to. If you watch that scene the Hammer moves just a little when Steve tries to lift it. But that was all Steve needed to know he was worthy. Thor knew this as well. He knew Steve had not lifted before by his own choice. Also Thor knew the somewhat fickle nature of Stormbreaker and may have been protecting his possession of Stormbreaker because of Steve wielded it it may well have become permanently his.
Whether or not someone with the mental resilience Steve surely had and such an incredibly strong body could handle the weapon is unclear. He was physically proven to be above all the Guardians' strength because Drax and Gamora would never even approach Thanos in raw strength while Steve was able to at least hold his hand still using only his own body. He was also a hardened soldier, had a strong set of ideals driving him as a good mental barrier against some things, and it's unclear in the MCU version but his comic equivalent was resistant to psionics. What is very confirmable is that Mjolnir in the hands of anyone able to use it would be an upgrade which we clearly saw made Steve both stronger and able to use lightning, while we know Stormbreaker was designed personally for Thor and he very clearly got more dangerous using it. Timeline for comparison: We see Thor early and he's very powerful, but lost that without Mjolnir until Ragnarok when he loses it a second time. At that point Odin appears to him and he realizes the hammer was just a tool and that while a good weapon on its own, it was actually just more easily enabling what Thor always had with him then he starts using the same power without it. After making Stormbreaker, he still displays being a step up in power and is outputting more force than he did before, such as obliterating that massive structure in his THORth movie (haha). When he tells Steve to use Mjolnir instead, there are three possible reasons he just tosses him that hammer. It's not totally clear although feasible that Steve could use Stormbreaker, it granted him no major advantages over Mjolnir, and most importantly Thor knew he could actually use Mjolnir. Back in Age of Ultron, Steve moved the hammer slightly and pretended it didn't, probably because he didn't want to hurt Thor's pride. Thor still noticed and was looking very intently at this, and later says "I knew it" when Steve uses Mjolnir. He had expected that would work ever since the pre-Ultron party, and on that battlefield may even have had specific interest in seeing how well Steve would wield the weapon.
As others have said, Mjolnir doesn't grant Thor's powers because it was "made to train Thor." Mjolnir wielders gain Thor's powers due to the enchantment Odin places on the hammer in the first Thor movie. This is basic, foundational Thor lore. Mjolnir was also older than Thor, which we know from Ragnarok when we learn Hela used to wield the hammer. This further shows it wasn't designed for Thor. Your overall premise that Steve Rogers may be unable to wield Stormbreaker is valid, but do much of the rest of this video is just incorrect to the point that I'm wondering if it was intentional to drive activity on the video by people calling you out...
It's funny how Captain America got his ass for by Winter Soldier because he was struggling and then him and Winter Soldier struggled against Iron Man and then he also struggled against basic humans in the elevator scene but then again he was able to go toe-to-toe with Thanos 🤔
Not exactly toe-to-toe. In Infinity War Thanos kills him with a single half-assed punch, he didnt even bother using the glove. In Endgame he distracts Thanos from killing Thor for a couple of surprise attacks before getting stabbed, punched down and his shield cracked. After Thanos declassed Thor, Cap and Ironman at the same time.
The enchantment on the Hammer states that if whoever lifts this hammer if he be worthy shall possess the power of Thor meaning from age of Ultron when Captain America first made the hammer move he possessed the power of Thor which means he can wield Stormbreaker if he wants to and both of them were created in the same place and are made of the same metal
Stormbreaker didn't have the same enchantments on it that Mjolnir did. "Whoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall posses the power of thor" Odin put that there to make sure Thor stayed on the right path. It was not there when Hella weilded the weapon. Now, maybe Thor put the same enchantment on stormbreaker (but why would he do that? since it's his weapon, not an heirloom passed down from the allfather, with a "lesson" built into it) I'm not sure storm breaker would be anything more than a very well balanced and sharp mele weapon for cap. through the enchantment Mjolnir CHOOSES who is worthy. while weilding mjoiner, Cap can summon lightning, and do Thor things. As mjolnir is a throwable weapon, Cap was still in it's area of effect while thor was holding it and could still channel thors power and "sort of" use stormbreaker. BUT If thor didn't hand Mjolnir back - Cap would have lost the power, since he was no longer in control of Mjolnir.
If that's your theory, then how was "Love" able to wield it at the end of Love & Thunder and she isn't even half the warrior Steve was? That makes no sense. I think it was a matter of playful ego. Thor didn't want Steve messing with his new weapon since he showed capability in wielding mjolnir.
@@timothycarey3883 ok. I'll humbly ask you to point me in what scene she was given that power as I only remembered her being brought back to life as her father had wanted. Didn't see where it was indicated she was given that kind of power.

Considering that StormBreaker has the capabilities of the BiFrost to be able to travel dimensions&galaxies, the mind of the user has to be capable of thinking in higher dimensions from origin to its destination. So I don't think Steve Rogers' feeble mind is prepared to have access to at least galactic level of awareness. Rogers can't think beyond his planetary scale dimensions, seems similar to how the Ultimate Nullifier needs a focused mind to use it or else the user gets wiped out too. Also since Valkyrie is currently the King/Queen of Asgard, does that mean she can tap into OdinForce or Thor still has it and she's just a ruler in name and not by power.
I do wonder if he will ever find Odins Spear. I mean even though the city was destroyed the super strong weapons could have survived and probably got shot out into space
Stormbreaker also had the power of the bifrost, so it could have teleported Cap to a different realm right in the middle of the battle, with no way of knowing how to get back and nobody else being able to retrieve him.
It's probably just for the joke in the movie. But looking at it like this, it's for sure the enchantment. Theoretically ANYONE could wield Mjolnir, and therefor, possess the power of Thor. So it's like, Mjolnir doesn't exactly require strength to wield (as it's base requirement I mean). As an object it probably is heavy af. But I think when a person has the heart to wield it, it becomes almost weightless for the person using it. Kind of reminds me of pulling the Master Sword in BOTW. Since you need more heart(s) to pull it. But Stormbreaker probably doesn't have that "ease of use" thing going on for the person wielding it. So it probably doesn't protect the user from potential muscle strain, or the mind collapsing into madness thing. Although I'm kind of bummed we never saw Bruce use Stormbreaker for a second. But that could've possibly reverted him back to regular Hulk tbh.
If there’s anything to that scene other than a comical moment, it’s that Cap would lose the power of Thor if he didn’t keep Mjolnir in his hand. In the comics it’s 60 seconds before the wielder loses the power without the hammer.
Well in the comics Stormbreaker is a literal carbon copy of Mjolnir including enchantments, exept it doesnt follow the 60-second rule. The MCU just turned Stormbreaker into a way more powerful King's Weapon because Gungnir (Odin's spear) was lost. Intentionally lost, because Gungnir is a direct link to the Odinforce and therefore allows reigning Allfathers to banish other asgardians. Wouldve been a lame movie if Thor couldve just snatched the spear and sent Hela back to her interdimensional prison.
The obvious reason is given in the Thor movies. Magic is explained to be the science which humans dont understand yet and Thor claims that both magic and science are the same thing in Asgard. Which means, there is a logic explanation for asgardians possessing superhuman physical and mental powers. Asgardian weapons made out of Uru are explained to draw the power for their enchantments out of the wielding person's life force. Thats why wielding Mjolnir prevented Jane Foster from dealing with her cancer disease. Thor just enchanted Mjolnir accept to Jane wielding it whenever she needs protection. She does get the capabilities of a thunder god just like a worthy person, but just like with those worthy individuals the source of the power is neither Mjolnir nor Thor, but Jane's own body and mind. Since Stormbreaker seems to be planned with Future King Thor in mind - the name is pretty obvious isnt it - it makes sense that Thor can summon it at will. My assumption is that the whole enchanting package from Mjolnir was copypasted on top of Stormbreaker, including the worthy enchantment and those neat upgrades. Yes, both Thanos and Gorr were able to move Stormbreaker. But only by sheer force because of their pure strenght being in the same Tier as Hela (Thanos being half deviant, half eternal and Gorr being supercharged by the cursed Necrosword). You also notice that Thanos utilized the return mechanism of Stormbreaker to his advantage and Gorr basically dragged it across the floor like an unwilling child. Neither of the two was actually wielding it. Taking this all into consideration my conclusion is that Thor really was worried about the physical and mental toll Stormbreaker would place upon Steve Rogers. As I said, there is no such thing as 'magic' in asgard, those feats are all physical and mental attributes in the end. Stormbreaker would enhance whatever is avaiable, in case of Captain America his superhuman strenght, speed, reflexes, stamina and combat iq. At a huge cost of his life force though, since that weapon enchantment was built for beings with a far superior life force, besides being able to replenish it by entering the Odinsleep.
Stormbreaker is better wielded as a two-handed weapon and cap has a shield. The smaller size of mjolnir makes it more effective for a shielded combatant like cap because its full potential can be utilized with one hand (not a question of strength, more of a question of weapon stability and power output)
I would wager that Star Lord could absolutely use a weapon forged in Nidavellir, his father is Ego. Being half Celestial has to count for something. I think Thors' own ego came out in his comments about the weapon being too much. I think Quill has ridiculous untapped potential.
This makes me wonder, MCU Peter Quill is half Celestial, how would he fare in this Equation, assuming that Thor, freshly wounded and picked up by the Guardians, did not realize that Fact. Or, in otherords, how does Stormbreaker compare to the Powerstone?
Stormbreaker is a living Weapon because of Groot... Stormbreaker falls to caps Arm means Its Curious to Mjonir and try to Sense worthiness... But Thor Still sense Cap cant Handle Stormbreaker's Power...
Without the power of Thor imbued in him by Mjolnir it is certain that Steve would be less effective in wielding Stormbreaker. This alone is a sufficient argument for him to wield Mjolnir instead.
What do you mean “even greater threat than Thanos” Odin is 100% worse than Thanos because he’s a god with insane power compared to a large steroid injected Barney with chin bumps
As strong as Odin is, he doesnt even come close to the power of an Eternal, which Thanos is. The MCU heavily played down that very important detail. Just to put both in a proper picture: Beings like Thanos were sent to supervise and protect the evolution of species like the asgardians.
Oden told the hammer to give the power of Thor to ANY who are worthy. It was shackled by this command and so could not harm it's user . . . Storm breaker had no such limiter it could demand ALL of its user ending him/her
Star Lord isn’t only human he is half Spartoi. A race who live thousands of years, have superhuman strength among other traits. In the mcu he is half abstract entity, his mind wouldn’t break and he would have the strength to wield storm breaker.
What about the fact that Peter is half celestial and held an infinity stone by himself for several seconds. A stone that would immediately destroy a planet.
1) Thor never identified as the next King of Asgard in the MCU. In fact the major part of his character arc is about realizing this. 2) While Stormbreaker is meant to be a weapon of kings, it can be wielded by any worthy person, just like Mjolnir. Love is worthy. And he promised to protect her with all he has. 3) Love is infused with the essence of eternity which basically puts her miles and miles ahead of Thor in terms of power. Giving her the power magnifying weapon makes perfect sense since she will get more out of it. And not suffer from the negative side-effect of an asgardian weapon.
"Whosoever wields it, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." Steve needed to wield Mjolnir. If Thor was wielding Mjolnir, Steve would no longer have the power of Thor, and having 2 Thors on the battlefield is better than a single Thor.
This actually makes sense
That is an enchantment that Odin himself placed on mjolnir which I believe allowed Non-asguardians to wield it
Lol I love this explanation. It makes sense. This is canon 😁
Thor was not adamant about it at all. He just says “No, no, you take the little one”… that’s all.
Although that is true... in the middle of battle, he's not going to sit there and say WHY he has to use the little one lol

The answer is simple. Stormbreaker has no enchantment. And 'He, whoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor'.

@@KevinSproul Thanus... hehe
mjolnir doesn't judge power levels. it judges worthyness. you can be weak physically, but worthy, and holding mjolnir gives you the power of thor. it's more of an ethics question then a physical power one.
a good example is Throg or simon waterson, a human cursed to be a frog. as a frog, he was still deemed worthy and has the powers of thor.
Mjolnir gives the person wielding it the powers of Thor, Stormbreaker would require one to inherently be as powerful as Thor to wield it effectively. Thats why he told cap to use the “little one”
That and it was a dumb dig joke.
Why didn't Cap get a Thor suit like Jane Foster?
@@jasonrhodes9726 He already had a badass outfit, so there wasn't a need. Also, Cap is a symbol as well.
And it would be disrespectful to the dwarf that risked his life a second time to forge another weapon specifically for Thor
However thor was out of shape so probably not. Steve did better with Mjolnir than Thor with both weapons.
I always somewhat thought of Thor and Captain America kinda like brothers in a way both have respect for each other and are warriors as well and both have a strong heart at what they do
I think they’re the only ones of the group who didn’t really fight each other
@@ZachofPotatoes732 The closest thing to a battle between Thor and Cap was in the first Avengers movie when Cap was breaking up the fight between Thor and Iron Man. Hit hit Cap's shield and they all got blasted closer to each other😂
Cap and Thor are both old school melee soldiers.
Thor End Game, "You take Mjolnir, I want the big one".
Thor Love and Thunder "I want my baby hammer back", Strombreaker looks on jealously.
Well he mjolnir is not the same hammer hela destroyed it's from a different timeline.
The moment the same destroyed mjolnir was back and repaired Thor was excited to see his old hammer again which makes stormbreaker jealous lol
Thor's natural power is the lightning.
Mjolnir was used by Thor to focus his natural power.
Odin told Thor this during the movie Thor: Ragnarok.

Was made clear in the movies: The power of Stormbreaker would destroy a mortal. It's not like Mjolnir that grants a worthy user the powers of Thor. Stormbreaker is just a really powerful weapon that is far too much for a human (even a super soldier) to handle.
1:09 Thor though was unaware that Peter and Mantis were both half-Celestial. He likely would have changed his tune about them had he known.
Stormbreaker didn't have Odin's spell on it, would it have bestowed Cap with the power of Thor or just be a big axe?
It's "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." - No hammer hold-y, no Thor powers.
That really wholesome to think about. Cap gaining Thor’s respect. Especially Thor handing cap the mead
Thor with Mjolinir= God of Thunder. Thor with Stormbreaker= Thorius Prime.

...but if he were to reactivate his powers through Prof. Charles Xavier's training, there's no telling how strong Peter would become..."
What is the difference between a Celestial and X-gene?
There's no point in you continuing this futile argument- but if it wasn't one, I do admire your skepticism and do understand the importance of presenting all of the facts to the table (unlike modern journalists).
my thing is, i wanted to see him use MORE of the hammer (cuz Stormbreaker is supposed to belong to Beta Ray Bill)
No throwaway line has ever caused this much controversy
This is when Marvel was making great movies and this channel was able to pull great content from them
It wasn't that Thor trusted Cap with his power, Cap proved worthy as the requirement of the enchantment Odin himself put on the hammer in the 1st Thor movie.
That totally changes the scene for me...😂 He's protecting his buddy
Even the writer didn't think of this
Eye test: MCU super soldiers are Bo Jackson times 20.
That was remarkably thoughtful. I'll sub. Let see what happens.
I had no idea that you had a marvel channel too lol. Love your star wars channel so just subbed here too.
You mentioned the mead in ‘Age of Ultron’, but didn’t mention how Mjolnir moves slightly when Steve tried to lift it (and Thor reacts to it)…
No one else was able to get Mjolnir to move except Thor (obviously), Steve and Vision (though does he count since he’s a machine?)
Odin's spell didnt exclude androids and cyborgs though. "Whoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy...." just refers to a person, a being with self-awareness, which Vision is without the slightest doubt.
Was just a joke.
😂😂😂
The amount of REACH in this is crazy!!
Thor has a special attachment with Stormbreaker that he didn't have with Molner. The energy used to create Stormbreaker actually passed through Thor while he was holding the gate open. Thor's own energy is part of that energy.
I can't imagine Drax or Gamora holding a helicopter at bay. Or, more impressively, briefly holding Thanos hand open.
Or since Thor himself forged Stormbreaker, he’s a little more possessive of it.
The reason Steve and Jane gained powers similar to Thor was a side effect of the Enchantment Odin put on Mjnoir to teach Thor a lesson it wasn't part of it originally.
If you think about it mjolnir was killing Jane but also keeping her alive
I love how people are going back to Endgame to this day! And finding new details!
if you recall the first thor movie odin cast thor out of asgard and enchants the hammer with the words whoever holds this hammer if he be worthy shall possess the power of Thor meaning the moment steve roger picked up the hammer with the enchantment of worthiness on it he was the next thunder god but while thunder is part of a storm it is only a small part of it
Mjolnir doesn't allow people to channel the thunder powers of Thor, and wasn't specifically made for Thor, it is the "Prince" weapon, meant for the heir of the King of Asgard to wield, that's why Hela used it and had it before Thor was even born.
Man, I love this iteration of Steve Rogers. Chris Evans just embodied it so well.
That's a better explanation than the weapons switch was for a Big (Trouble in Little China) reference
Thor Odinson must be in Secret Wars the Movie!
Thor’s Favorite me from his Homeland might actually be one of a few things that could get Steve Rogers drunk since no liquor from earth can do it
As others have said, Mjolnir doesn't grant Thor's powers because it was "made to train Thor." Mjolnir wielders gain Thor's powers due to the enchantment Odin places on the hammer in the first Thor movie.
Now, maybe Thor put the same enchantment on stormbreaker (but why would he do that? since it's his weapon, not an heirloom passed down from the allfather, with a "lesson" built into it)
I'm not sure storm breaker would be anything more than a very well balanced and sharp mele weapon for cap. through the enchantment Mjolnir CHOOSES who is worthy.
while weilding mjoiner, Cap can summon lightning, and do Thor things.
Gorr's daughter isn't his real one rather he's a reflection of eternity which means she can solo the MSHEU if she wants
he saw that Steve could wield Mjolnir and didn't want to take it back from him
If that's your theory, then how was "Love" able to wield it at the end of Love & Thunder and she isn't even half the warrior Steve was? That makes no sense. I think it was a matter of playful ego. Thor didn't want Steve messing with his new weapon since he showed capability in wielding mjolnir.
She has the power of eternity, much stronger than steve.
@@timothycarey3883 ok. I'll humbly ask you to point me in what scene she was given that power as I only remembered her being brought back to life as her father had wanted. Didn't see where it was indicated she was given that kind of power.
@@vadobless4866 after gorr wishes to eternity for his daughter back look at her reflection in the water as she walks up and she looks just like eternity. Some think she is supposed to be the mcu version of singularity. She showed she had tremendous power when she shot an energy blast at thor making breakfast. Definately not just a little alien girl.
@@timothycarey3883 got you.
@@vadobless4866 glad you understand.
When you take a joke way too seriously.
I figured he was afraid Steve might of called the Bifrost. 😀
Genuinely creative name man, well better than what my goof brain cooks up
This makes me wonder, MCU Peter Quill is half Celestial, how would he fare in this Equation, assuming that Thor, freshly wounded and picked up by the Guardians, did not realize that Fact. Or, in otherords, how does Stormbreaker compare to the Powerstone?
Imagine Deadpool with Stormbreaker 😆
His regenerative healing factor could possibly handle it
Stormbreaker is a living Weapon because of Groot... Stormbreaker falls to caps Arm means Its Curious to Mjonir and try to Sense worthiness... But Thor Still sense Cap cant Handle Stormbreaker's Power...
Thor: bro ypu can have my axe😂
I think its because Stormbreaker was Thorsnnew weapon, and he wanted to use the bigger and newer weapon.
Without the power of Thor imbued in him by Mjolnir it is certain that Steve would be less effective in wielding Stormbreaker. This alone is a sufficient argument for him to wield Mjolnir instead.
What do you mean “even greater threat than Thanos”
Odin is 100% worse than Thanos because he’s a god with insane power compared to a large steroid injected Barney with chin bumps
As strong as Odin is, he doesnt even come close to the power of an Eternal, which Thanos is. The MCU heavily played down that very important detail. Just to put both in a proper picture: Beings like Thanos were sent to supervise and protect the evolution of species like the asgardians.
@@polkhigh_33 yeah but this is thanos here
Not his race
Thanos still wouldn’t win
Thor's mjolnir was used by hella before him so it was not designed for him.
Oden told the hammer to give the power of Thor to ANY who are worthy.
It was shackled by this command and so could not harm it's user . . .
Storm breaker had no such limiter it could demand ALL of its user ending him/her
Marvelous Wave are you also Stupendous Wave?
Star Lord isn’t only human he is half Spartoi. A race who live thousands of years, have superhuman strength among other traits. In the mcu he is half abstract entity, his mind wouldn’t break and he would have the strength to wield storm breaker.
Forgot to mention that Odin placed his enchantment on the hammer on who is worthy while stormbreaker has no such enchantment.
What about the fact that Peter is half celestial and held an infinity stone by himself for several seconds. A stone that would immediately destroy a planet.
One thing I didn’t like about T4 is he gives Love stormbreaker a kings weapon and takes his hammer. Doesn’t make sense also doesn’t look cool
Nobody noticed the joke - the stormbreaker actually hates Thor.
It's always the best idea to let the people with the most experience handle the bigger jobs. 😊
