    I think someday when the technology reaches a point, participants will have health bars and the equipment will be able to detect proper edge alignment and the amount of force with each strike. Placement of strikes could also play a roll, awarding damage multipliers for different body parts. You could keep the current point system, but to get a point you must reduce the opponent's HP to zero.
    Ideally, bullseye thrusts to the heart or forehead would deal enough damage to win a point in a single hit. Similarly, strong cuts with proper edge alignment to vital areas could also deal enough damage to win a point.

      @@Brother_K it very much obviously was originally made to simulate actual sword fighting and this is just what it evolved into over time and even still is meant to somewhat emulate sword fighting you know, considering they are actually using fucking swords? As apposed to your pointless analogy in no point do track runners be chased by anything, where as this entire sport IS sword fighting, like me saying i like water then you saying "then you like oil too" like im sorry but if you think this sport isn't attempting to actually emulate sword fighting, where the entire goal is to touch your opponent without being touched, like actual swordfighters do, then i don't know what to tell you. Maybe just look up the history of basketball and learn how players will adapt to the rules and bend them in their advantage to win and how rules change to accommodate to this changing the sport entirely over decades, it happens in basically every sport, i thought it was common knowledge but i guess not.

My analogy had nothing to do with your analogy, l I fail to see your reasoning there. I said it was based on sword fighting, like track they are doing the actions but it’s not supposed to be like running from a lion, you can be based on something while still not emulating it. Well, graphically it's certainly better than Nidhogg 2 but I miss the simplistic style of the first game and I'm generally against the push for photorealism in all things. Style/direction > Graphics, that's part of what made Nidhogg 1 so good.

    I am slightly confused by this sport. If they were really "dueling" who wins when they both stab each other?

    • @Kirikirikiru
      @Kirikirikiru Рік тому

      The blades are blunted, so it’s not to the death, of course. If they both stab each other in this context, no points would be given - after all, both combatants *did* get stabbed!
      (Though, if it was to the death and both of them get stabbed, they’d probably be dead.)

    This is why I think epee DE matches ought to be one period of 3 minutes until the semi final.
    Semi final has two 3 minute periods. Then final has the full three 3 minute periods.
    Not only does it speed up tournaments, fencers now can’t just dance around 🕺 💃 for an age.
    I would also implement the previous passivity rule. No action in the periods for the semi and or final after 1 minute. Skip to the next period.

    • @RePlayQ
      @RePlayQ 2 роки тому +5

      I’d rather they dance around a lot more than each round be over in less than a second. From a spectator perspective it’s definitely uninteresting to watch and hard to understand why one person won over the other when they just jump at eachother each time

    • @dudeofvalor9294
      @dudeofvalor9294 2 роки тому +3

      @@RePlayQ you would still respect the rules of epee but bouts would be much more active (like a poule round) than it currently is.
      Epee is easy for spectators to understand the rules but yawn inducing when no one commits. But shortening the rounds fencers have to commit more so.
      Always find watching epee most exciting when there are literally seconds to go and someone’s loosing.

      @@duck653 it's not dueling with sword. It's point fighting with bending sticks.
      Why would you right past your opponent in a sword duel? That would get you killed.
      It's the most alienated form of a sport that I've ever seen, it looks nothing impressive. There is a reason no one watched this.
