I've lived in Tokyo for 17 years and I can very clearly see that this area is a recreation of Shinjuku (an area in central Tokyo) My apologies if this has already been talked about as I'm viewing this for the first time. There are several buildings that are an exact recreation of real life buildings that currently exist in Tokyo. @0:57 that is the Nishi (west) Shinjuku area. And @1:19 that is the The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (東京都庁) which in reality only has two towers, not four, and in the same shot on the left side you can see the Park Hyatt hotel which is where the film "Lost in Translation" was filmed.
Very good observations. I find it interesting just how accurately they recreated the Tokyo metropolitan government building courtyard, right down to matching the tiling pattern on the floor of the lower area, the primary difference being the inclusion of a central roundabout and a third road in the game. They even replicated the surrounding curved wall and architecture. As someone who's fascinated by this location in the game, I'd love to travel there some day and see it for myself.
Very interesting to see what might have been if we'd been allowed to explore more of the city in the main game. Just think: all those buildings with their respective residents, all the side-missions we could have gone on. Even better, if they did an 'Escape From Insomnia' version where we have to try and leave right after the Empire attacks. But alas, that game will never come. What would have been interesting would have been if you flew from the Citadel in a straight line, timed how long it took you to reach the Wall, and then flew for the same amount of time from somewhere in the regular game, so we can see exactly how much space Insomnia covers relative to the regular game.
I feel for the dev team. So much hard work that looks amazing, only to be cast to the side. I hope Square finds a way to use this material. I have plenty of ideas lol
When I look at this I see a ghost, of everything that was robbed from us. FFXV had the potential to be such a majestic game, and we shouldn't blame what became of it directly on the team that developed. The birth of this game was insanely chaotic, unfortunately. I absolutely love the idea of such a tridimensional massive modern city, if the game was 50% or even more just in it I would happily spend my time just walking through this beauty.
I grew up completely unaware of Versus XIII, and went into XV completely blind. And yet, for some reason, I've always felt drawn to this city. It always felt very familiar for some reason. Even though I loved XV, and still do, not being able to explore Insomnia always was a major complaint of mine.
I've been watching the Versus XIII trailers from long ago. And even though I'm not ashamed of XV and I'm glad that it got me into Final Fantasy, I still feel a bit of sorrow for the Final Fantasy Versus XIII we never got. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to play it.
@@roguescorner9042 "It always felt very familiar for some reason." It never would have happened. It would have been a zone that you can walk around in, but not part of the overworld. It is probably how Midgar will function in FF VII remake part 3
The scope of insomnia is massive, or at least it could have been, but even if SE wouldn't have rushed the development, i still think they would have been in over their heads with what they wanted to achieve versus what they could have achieved with the tech back then. Imagine, if the city wouldn't have been laid to ruins and it was fully developed with buildings, npcs, traffic and cars, quests, and fully fleshed out possibly as i think it was intended, not sure, it would have been insane. Maybe rivaling that of cyberpunk 2077 or much bigger since i can clearly see insomnia is a humongous place. They didn't even finish creating everything, but we all know why tbh. Still this is great, thanks for the video, i enjoyed watching this.

either PC version, or a version 1 OOB glitch to get there.
