Fifteen, there’s still time for you… • Happy Birthday, Elise & Avery!

The girls went on their first youth group trip this week, and came home just in time to celebrate with dinner and some Dave & Busters fun!
This past year has been such a big change, with the kids returning to “regular” school. There are some things that I struggle with with regards to them being back, and - as we knew would be the case - some absolute drawbacks to the change.
But it’s been so incredible watching them each try new things, meet new people, and experience some of the joy and heartache that comes with the high school territory. It still truly breaks my heart that the biggest heart ache came at the hands of someone paid by the school… but in a world filled with humans, I guess that’s bound to happen. ❤️‍🩹
The good outweighs the bad though, and almost all of this slideshow represents another beautiful trip around the sun (yet another that went far too quickly) with my favorite young ladies in the whole world - plus of course lots and lots of dance, and a strangely high number of silent DJ parties. :)
I’m once again overwhelmed when I think that I get to be their momma. Happy 15th birthday, beautiful girls.
{Side note: many, many years ago, I decided I would use Five for Fighting’s “100 Years” when the girls turned 15. The note I made literally then says, “waaaay down the road”. Oof. ⏳💔}
