They are saying "why is this takeaway closed? It's not a holiday, is it?" I'm a regular customer and nobody told me this takeaway would be closed for the day. Can't you make an exception for me? I'll pay with extra cuteness."

My squirrels knock their water bowl over to let me know they are out of food. Two squirrels even broke a glass ashtray, knocked it off table onto the patio. I ran to backdoor when I heard glass break and both squirrels were 2 feet away in grass still as statues staring at me. Like "feed us or we'll destroy everything while looking precious". Lol

Oh yes they definitely get upset when they don't get fed or enough. They will actually come and knock on my window. Winter is coming up and they will be out in full force. I always keep stocked up. God forbid if I don't have their food. Lol

Feeding squirrels is an expensive endeavor. :)
I suffered from this extreme cuteness and induced guilt myself the other day. I was sitting on a park bench reading a book when I spotted a squirrel nearby. Dutifully I reached into my shirt pocket where I had a stash of peanuts in shell and tossed one to the squirrel. It scurried away from the movement, but when I tossed another nearby, it returned and ate the peanut. It had spotted the first peanut while eating the second, so it finished off both. Then it sat there and stared at me.
Of course I reached into my pocket and tossed it another. It grabbed it up and voraciously devoured it. It approached a bit closer and stood there staring at me again, waiting for yet another. One by one I went through all the peanuts I had in my pocket till finally I had none left. He spent at least five minutes scurrying near to me, sitting and staring, never understanding that I had no more peanuts to give it.
I felt SO guilty!
I've run out of food for my squirrels a few times and it breaks my heart when I can't feed them. They have their little paws wrapped tightly around my heart!
I am trapped from running out of food for them. The attack the bird feeders and charge after the birds if I don't 😅
I feel the pain when you run out out of nuts for the squirrels. I have little paw prints on the outside of my window from them trying to open it when there’s no nuts for them😊

We have a squirrel that we've named "Cyril" and ha has the same mannerisms as Samy.
He sits up like a prairie dog and folds his arms in when we call him - he's very entertaining.

Sami does indeed know how to play the room. Those little paws held pathetically on her chest and the forlorn look are very hard to resist! Smoothie's technique is far more direct.. "Helloooo... I'm here, don't you see me? Did you forget our breakfast this morning?" After that, general annoyance seems to build as a joint effort kicks in! "Let's all attempt to instigate a guilt trip". 😆

My squirrels do the same thing. They jump on my screen dooror try to get my attention at the kitchen window.
I have a squirrel house for my squirrel friends. I feed them monkey nuts, walnuts and hazlenuts. Spoilt rotten

I had 3 wild squirrels that I could hand feed. I remember they would climb on my roof then sit on my skylites to get my attention to come out and feed them.

I found a baby squirrel on the ground. I left it and just watched to see if the mother would find it. When a cat stared snooping around I picked it up. I couldn't find a rescue to take her so I bottle fed her myself. I named her Cricket because she was so little. Once she weaned I tried to set her free but she wouldn't have. She would hang around the yard waiting for me to come out.
This happened to me and I didn't understand it until I watched your channel! My squirrel threw itself at the dining room window when I didn't put out his food (I had run out so I had to dash up to the supernarket to get some!) Also, thank you for pointing out that they need a wide range of food trypes. I am stocking up on different nuts and seeds!
This is so cute! Got red squirrels in my garden in Flanders Belgium but they don’t beg like this. They walk around in the garden and scout the Terrace up to our window and when I go outside they run and wait in the big trees until I put the food and go back inside
I love what you do for the squirrels, I have a few also and a crow couple and also go through the same problem of running out of their food sometimes and feel the same way. But if they hang in their food does arrive.

It also breaks my heart when I run out of food for them too. I ALWAYS try to keep food on hand for them, but they have to share it with rabbits, crows and other birds.
I'm not even a fan of squirrels, I have no idea why I enjoy these vids so much. ❤
Oh my gosh, I'd have to keep my blinds closed too, especially with a constant parade like you get!
Hard candy and toast with peanut butter are good alternatives too.
I don't know how many times these cute little critters have stolen snacks out of my golf cart.
Maybe next time you can bring some treats specially for them, so they won't have to "steal" your snacks. 😊

Can watch squirrels for hours and I have two in my garden , one I call Scraggy Tail and the other I call Nutkins (the latter should really be Nutkina because she was pregnant a few months ago.
Anyway, they have a squirrel feeding box always full of peanuts in shells and hazelnut s.......Scraggly throws a tantrum when the box is emptied of his favourite yes, hazelnuts. He still hasn't got the knack of lifting the lid unlike Butlins who knows everything!

There was a wildlife tv presenter in the UK called Terry Nutkins. I believe that was his actual name. Nutkins is such a great squirrel name.
I use to have a squirrel that I called Sammy.
I use to say

Till one day I noticed that Sammy's belly was getting fat.

I used to feed the squirrels too until they ripped the window screens to get inside! lol
They ripped my window screen too, but I still feed them. The squirrels are more important to me than a screen, and I would love if they would come inside more often ❤️🐿️

@@Squirrels_at_the_window There's a video of a squirrel doing this to an apartment of a girl - I think she's called Casey Windom. She was just so cool about it - so was the squirrel. She came scampering up to Casey and did "cute" then politely left when she'd eaten a nut.

Believe it or no 5kg of hazelnuts and 10 if of monkey nuts covers roughly 3 weeks with the addition of special squirrel food.

Love your videos, so cute! To supplement the squirrels I feed I buy a 20ish lb bag of in-shell sunflower seeds for them to eat. It’s cheap and it lasts awhile. Mix in a few unsalted peanuts to stretch it even more.

You could keep some large nut suets on hand for when you run out of other available food items. Something to tie them over till you can purchase more food. Just an idea.

It's also cute if you've ever see them get agitated and do the little stomping feet dance. The little gears turn and they know there's usually food associated with some non furry tall upright beings (people). When there's no food reward they don't know how to deal with it. Fortunately they don't become violent but I've heard in the past they can and do. Mine have been good. I think we have an understanding. 😂
I've seen my squirrels stomping their feet but only to intimidate other squirrels. I've never seen squirrels getting violent, even when they fight among themselves is kinda cute. They do chatter their teeth at me sometimes when I don't have their favorite food, but i think it's very funny and cute. Squirrels have a way of doing everything in a cute way. 😊🐿️
And if you had a screen to your window, she would climb all over it like a big spider hanging on its web.

I have squirrels come up to my 2nd floor flat, they sit on my window box outside my bedroom and I give them shelled nuts, they take them from my fingers but are still skittish enough to bolt when the window is fully open. I like that they are still retaining wildness as yours are and I notice their behavioural patterns, and know which is which by the way they act even at the window, the big male I have get quite cranky when he is out of nuts and he bites my window frame, something he also does if he feels he is being ignored. The girls don't dp that though.
I luv when they fold up there Lil Claws.I miss mine so I hav 2 watch it's.I get a kick out of them all...

Feeding that many squirrels takes more than peanuts, i know as i am feeding upwards to 12 and birds alongside them. It is a balance for helping them out, but not to the point that they cannot survive on their own should something happen and we are not there. Birds i am not worried about, however trying to balance the line in keeping them able to survive in the wild and not totally dependant on others. Cheers and love the channel.

I don't have 20+, just a few who come and go, but one who does come always does a "gimme!", and always with his left hand, reaching out to grab the bread I hand out.

@@Squirrels_at_the_window I used to, but they really started irritating me. They'd eat a few, then grab the remainder and bury them somewhere.. So I'd dole out 1-2 at a time, 'til I'd see them start to grab'n'run, and then I'd stop. When it got to the point of them not even sitting to eat, but just grab'n'run instead, I just stopped.
At least if I get nut-bread as the occasional treat (pieces of sunflower, walnut, etc., inside), they'd at least eat nuts that way.
