    I was a hippy in the 70's, and lived in a couple of groups that were labled communs. We didn't want or need lables. We didn't have political agendas nor off-the-wall spiritual practices and only partied occationally. We wanted to live cleanly, work hard and be self supporting. I was married, had a career and grew most of what we needed. Husband built our house and was a wood miller for a large company. Go for it guys, it's a good life and I'm 69, healthy, no meds and still have a small homestead I work by myself.

      My husband and I are about to hit 30 and we have decided to give up most of our materialistic possessions and pursue a simple life similar to yours and The Nomadic Movements. It's scary when everyone around you is telling you "you'll regret it" or "what about your future/retirement?". We believe life should be lived in the moment, not in the what-ifs and the some-days. Seeing stories like yours helps us realize we are making the right choice :)

      @@casc9220 What I see is that many people are afraid of the unknown, afraid of change, afraid of being outcast by the Joneses, and also too attached to their ways of being and material possessions and clutter. It feels good to let go. It actually brings freedom. It also brings more self sovereignty and less dependency on everything which was needed to artificially sustain that previously clingy cluttery lifestyle. It's as though current society views wants as security blankets and can't separate them from needs. It's like most find it hard to differentiate that which serves and that which truly does not serve us. These awesome guys are just following where their hearts truly take them, unencumbered by the pressures of a stressed and unbalanced society. Kudos to them as they lead by their good example and self-determination.

    * Important Conderations...There are 7 families on my homestead and even though we live as one big family, they've all signed a contract. That basically includes respecting the land and one another (rules of conduct), what they can and can not do, and if not they have to leave. You should do something similar to protect yourself and others who may join you.
    Don't use, "giving it away," unless they're going to actually own the land. Protect yourself and say, "sharing our land."

      @@ReclinerBabe thanks. I can't imagine any of them not being here but it pays to stay legal. They actually like the contract because it protects them too if someone here wrongs them, or if something happens to me. We've not had one issue in the 5 years we've been here. I did a lot of vetting before inviting anyone to join the Homestead so that helped.

Back then you would go out in the morning and meet up with your friends and we would go out on an adventure and come back home when it started to get dark. No worries what so ever. Where if you ever needed anything your neighbors would come together and get it done. Now a days most people don't even speak to there neighbors. The kids and their family are a sweet addition. As for the Keto, you can do it! I figure you'll be able to do it easily! The goat with the glasses on it's back end-hilarious! I think you 2 will make fabulous parents! Look at what examples you're setting already with the other kids! Kaylee, your hair at the end of the video looked so pretty! I love what you said, Jordan, about not wanting your kids looking at a screen all day! I wish more people felt that way! Take care and God bless you!

      The problem with hippies, back in the late 50s and 60s, wasn't the one for all and all for one. It was group sex and using hard drugs. It was being put in charge of 6 or 8 kids and getting stoned out of your mind. Also one person doing the most work and many people doing nothing. That killed the movement.

    It was such a pleasure to see all your friends being busy at creating and building, and the kids running around with the goats there... This is a bit how I grew up in Austria in a small village where everybody knew everybody and people helped each other. There are many groups that live 'communally', some based on strong religious principles and beliefs, but a lot of them just on the basis of living together as a community, sharing, helping each other. - I love your vision for Lola's Farm! This is exactly like the hippie communes in the 60's. What happened back then was our society labeled them dirty hippies! I have seen signs back then no hippies allowed. It got all entangled in the no war protests and basically society stamped out the communes. I think life in the U.S. has become too stressful for even our children. Right now is a good example parents are freaked out the kids are missing school and they are cramming on computer courses and the kids are so stressed out! We have historic times going on what difference would it make if the children all graduated a year later than normal? Your way looks great, hard but great!

We each had and developed 5 acre parcels. We raised 7 children in this country community along with 6 other families. Our kids grew up on very little TV and no video games, but learned how to build and fix and enjoy projects. They all learned music and mechanics, and carpentry and gardening, etc. They are all grown now and are now raising their own families in a similar fashion. They all have the belief that they can accomplish anything they put their efforts and minds to do. Now we are enjoying watching our 13 grandkids, (so far) becoming talented and productive people. We have no regrets how we raised our country kids around other country kids and families. Watching your videos brings back so many fond memories. Keep up the great goals you are pursuing. Over the years my children have gathered friends who become brothers and sisters and they are all my kids now. They help each other where they can, taking care of each other's animals, helping each other with things that they need done, feeding each other, staying at each other's houses, and just in general fellowshipping and enjoying each other. Acquaintances become friends, friends become family, and family stays together no matter how far apart they are. I am an alumnus of intentional community - good on you folks for what you are trying to do. We need more models like this because they will be needed more and more. As system change encourages population decentralization. One of my community experiences from the late 1960's in Southern Oregon is still operating over 50 years later and is documented in 3 books (and I'm in all of them). Blessings on your journey - and remember, you are not in it alone!

      In that case, how come everything I've ever lent to folk, they've never returned it! One person 'borrowed' my grass rake, just for a couple of hours.....12 years later, I'm still waiting for her to return it! 😂 (I moved to an apartment with no garden, but that ain't the point is it)? God knows how many books, records, clothes, tools etc, I've lost over the years. I don't lend anything to anyone any more! Love from England.😙

No expectations when you started, friends gravitate to like minded or comforting places...that's Lola's Farm. Rodrigo is doing his own thing, on land you gave him...I'm sure the others are as well. It's a Familial Community you've started. And Heck if I were 30 yrs younger, (knowing all I know now) I'd be right there too. • @dougsmith4999
      @dougsmith4999 3 роки тому

      LOL They will find that out after they get tired of building more and fence to keep them in. To stop this one from escaping we had to tie a rope around its neck, tied to a 2x4 so it was always stumbling, but he still would get out.

    • @UncaDave
      @UncaDave 3 роки тому +1

      With my goats we tie something that looks like a sling shot frame, only the handle part is longer, to below their neck. It stops them from getting their head low enough to get under a fence. But keep trying.

    • @UncaDave
      @UncaDave 3 роки тому +1

      @Eric Ferguson The consolation is that they can be hilarious, especially if you don’t have too many. If you treat them often especially giving them part of your lunch like when you are out repairing fences (not quite “Desparado” but you get the picture), they will follow you everywhere. When you head back to the barn the way they run is so funny. I drove around my property in a Kawasaki Mule and they were always wherever I was working. They got in the Mule at lunch break and would eat your whole lunch if you weren’t careful. At night had to make sure to put them up in the barn or the coyotes might get them.
