Right? Like literally EXACTLY what I was looking for, and it's the second video that he hits the subject bang on for me, great content my dude, great content. Oh and Thaaaaaaaank you for the info o/
First of all thank you so much for your passion and honesty. I'm researching the market to find out what the latest and greatest is. No matter what choices I make I will find a way to help support your channel either through a donation or a purchase from your site. I am considering making my own lights LED strips extruded aluminum I'm going to check out your site right now and see if there's anything that I can possibly use. Whether my purchases today or many months from now I just wanted to say thank you for being so thorough and so helpful. Thanks again.
Very useful and elemental video thank you. I will continue with the white lined budbox pro even though silver would be better, just because I find silver hurts my eyes. Good info like this allows people to make their own decisions.
Just built a new grow area a 6x6 multi tiered twelve foot tall cielings and I plan to maximize area with shelving for plants stages I needed this video thanks!
the problem with mirrors is that the light has to pass through the glass to hit the reflective material. then pass through the glass to get back out to the plant. so it absorbs too much of the PAR value you need. good ol tin foil is cheap and works wonders. (the shiny side) .
@Trousersnake Pliskin your names awesome by the way... escape from new york was fkin dope as fuck. i use tin foil and my plants get way more light then they need anyways.. so i dont feel the need to try and maximize the reflective area like with mylar or paint... tin foil is great. and that whole "hotspot" crud is a myth
This video got me curious about reflectix vs these options. Mylar and painted boards work better than reflectix from what I've read. Thank you for the informative video. I guess I'll make my grow tent out of some mylar and scrap wood or pvc
I moved to a smaller place and have no room for my 2.5 x 5 ft grow tent. I made a small pvc with cardboard covered with tinfoil grow area and now. Might just cut the tent up and custom make walls now.
Thanks Matt, I checked out your channel and subscribed. I'm going to watch your videos on hydro pepper production. I'm looking for advice on the best nutrient solution for our upcoming grow test with chili plants. Any advice on what to use for good flavor and yield?
Personally, I use Dyna-Gro Grow 7-9-5, which is a complete one-part macro/micro nutrient with pH stabilizer, and cal-mag. While I have not used them personally, the Masterblend, General Hydroponics, Maxi Grow, and other nutrients seem to do well too. Regarding flavor, a mature chili from a flavorful variety is a good start. Soil grown plants, when water stressed can produce some of the best flavors. For quicker results indoors, growing in rockwool blocks or small containers helps. Topping right after the 3rd or 4th leaf node helps to change the shape of the plant. You want a short and wide plant, with a good canopy. Also, trimming off the leaves under that massive canopy helps. Otherwise those under canopy leaves that are not getting light are just wasting the plants energy. In addition to small pots and effective shaping, using a wet/dry cycle with extended dry times will stress the roots without killing them. This is often another trigger to start the flowering and fruiting process. Don't be afraid of trying to switch peppers to flowering sooner than thought, as pepper plants will continue to increase in canopy size even after starting to fruit. Dryer air and more air circulation, combined with more interspacing between plants, helps push peppers toward fruiting too.
wow this videos are really amazing and helpfull, omg I really appreciate your efforts and your will with intention in making tests, thank you very much again
I've had pretty good success using orca paper. With almost no hotspots and incredible reflection. The only thing I don't like about the orca paper is how expensive it is. And when you use it as a flooring it delamination within about a year. However on the walls it works great.
I went and bought that car front windshield son reflector stuff it looks just like that stuff they use to make heating & air duck work but i can use that stuff where i couldnt afford to order the tent cause i was already ordering the seeds so i figured by getting the pvc pipes to make my tent out of would be a cheap easy way to have one finally lol
You did the white plastic or panda film similar to the matte white paint, but you didn't use orca the white canvas material. Then because this is 3 years old, not sure it was around but the plastic paneling dps. Diversified panel systems.
Great video Would reflective material be much help for the sides for the veg stage when plants are small?, as all my leaves receive light from above 2 x 600 watt MH for 18 plants grown a week apart on stands to keep the canopy even and to save space as well as having a continuous grow I don't see how light on the edges of the leaves would help? I harvest one plant per week 9 in flower, also if the light is powerful enough to penetrate the canopy, how does side reflective help, as there is none separating the plants in the middle of the tent I have 18 vegging, for 18 weeks to get bigger plants and keep with the 9 week flowering cycle 9 week veg is not enough I have a tent for the flowering stage, to separate the light cycle from the vegging plants that are in the same room it has 2 x 1,000 watt HPS Thank you
You know those silver blankets that mountain climbers pack and that people wear after marathons / triathlons ? as a real budget build I am planning on using PVC pipes to make a frame then make the walls from cardboard wall papered with that silver blanket stuff , thoughts?
Great video. Have you tested any color variations in walls for reflective values? Blaze yellow, orange, green and blue. Materials like reflective signs, and tapes Silly maybe
Could you do a test with the Orca paper I'd be curious because their claims are pretty high I have used this before with good results what would be very curious but the comparison thank you
I was thinking the same thing for us people that like to DYI n make ok our setup as affordable as possible but at the same time when I do something I like to do it right the first time hence making it an ideal good set up but affordable as well with out having to make changes during your plants cycle which could in turn do more harm than good! Very curious about the aluminum foil readings and what you have to say about it! I've been told it's not as good as the other reflective material n that it has more of a chance burning your plants
I just put up white poster paper that has a semigloss sheen to it so it works ok for me! I've never seen anybody put up foil n have heard it'll burn ur plants so that's why I didn't put any up but would still like to see what it reads n hear what it does.....!?!?
Heres a question to see if u guys know your stuff lol, light showing through hole of a cabinet door frame, worst is the side, problem is i can put anything there to cover the gaps as the door needs the gap to open/lever…
I have a problem, my grow area is 5’ by 20’ and not sure about the layout when yours are 5 lights to a ring. Should I buy two ring sets or just hang 6 x 400’s? Thanks, it’s a big purchase, any help will do and my canopy should be 4’ that way I can work?
Someone did a test on UA-cam that showed plain old aluminum foil had better reflectivity than any other product. That included paint, flat and gloss and several other products, including mylar. Have you ever tried aluminum foil? It may be worth a test.
Don't know if you'd have access to it, but I'd love to know where stucco aluminium sheet would stand amongst these. It's what the light shades are usually made out of
I am not sure but if there are plants under the lamp most of the wall gets more or less black, good test would be with plants in the room like the real situation is.Only from eye it looks to me that white is the best.
can you do the same test, but using different tech? like HPS, MH, LED, CFL, etc? It would be very interesting to see the readings. To get the most light.
For people on a budget, I'd suggest trying aluminum foil with a thin layer of white paint or primer over it. Extremely reflective, lets zero light through and doesn't cause hot spots. I'd guess it pretty much rivals mylar in reflectiveness at a tiny fraction of the price.
Hi shane. What’s the difference btw 75um and 125um Mylar beside the measure? Is the 75 semi transparent or is it lightproof too? I already have matte white walls, no light leaks, should I buy the cheaper 75um one? Thx
The thicker one reflects more IR back so its better for ceilings of the room if you don't want to be the only house in the snowstorm with a clear roof. And its tougher/longer lasting, less rip/tear prone and if its backed with white, its cleanable. Thin mylar doesn't last, it goes see through over time becomes brittle and its noisy, thick stuff looks the same after 10 years
Do You have a Grow room using (Holographic reflective material) on the walls for Lighting If so Can You link the video or done.. I Was Think How Do Plant React to Rainbow Color Lightings
doesnt the sensor have an intake angle? So it should actually be even more effective then the sensor is telling you. I would have liked to see the sensor being covered from the light source and be pointed torwards the reflective material.
Diamond silver Mylar is $5 a metre and just as good. Most silver Mylar tents are just as good. It's a generic and cheap material. In this case the cheap solution is best👍
How much of an effect does a reflective wall have on the Migro light? I'd assume because of the glass lens that the light is more defined or ??? thank you,

Mirrors. Aromatic Cedar slats on the floor, sections of, or full size of your space mirror. I have the shiny mylar in a closet and a 3x3 mylar tent.
Awesome way to demonstrate the results. Thank you a ton.
Hi. I started growing about 2 years ago. I was wondering if u have ever checked mirror reflection?
Just built a new grow area a 6x6 multi tiered twelve foot tall cielings and I plan to maximize area with shelving for plants stages I needed this video thanks!
Matt white my personal choice on a small grow room shows any foriegn contamination dust, dirt, bugs easy to clean no hot spots.
and mold and fungus you need to worry about, PM and botrytis. Need something that is washable
@@SuperCanada89 from what I understand, using a mold resistant paint or bathroom paint helps.
Diamond its easy too. No hotspots
Thanks diamond Mylar is my choice for first grow
Once and for all. Thanks, numbers don't lie, just people do.
Excellent test. I had always thought matte white was the way to go, but you have convinced me otherwise.
Orca sheeting.. 20 plus years of gardening has proven this to me 👌
Thanks, timely advice. I appreciate the detailed presentation. I heard back in the day matte white
was best. Now I know better.
Great video! I’m slowly getting an education on what I need to do for my plants.
I would like to have seen the results using mirrors
Mirrors don't work as good as simple Matt white paint, sorry bro

Nice to see 'back to basics' still has a place.
Would be interesting to see the results putting the reflectors on an angle towards the light?
...I dont understand ? Why isn't anybody using reflector panels inside tent near the plants ?...A.C.Feuerhelm
wow this videos are really amazing and helpfull, omg I really appreciate your efforts and your will with intention in making tests, thank you very much again
Just got 4x2x6'11 Gorilla tent, 1640D diamond mylar. Worth every penny
muy interesante las comparaciones de papel para reflactar !
I’m using the Mylar stuff but it was a emergency blanket so it was all folded up so it s not completely flat so it don’t get hot spots
Just wondering if you could get ahold of “silver board” rigid insulation and get the reading? I have to insulate and reflect in something.
so why the heck are matt white rooms getting higher yields if the silver here is showing better results ?
How would roll aluminium foil glued to a flat surface to reduce wrinkles work? Thanks for your great videos and your responses to questions.

Great video Shane. Am stil waiting for the Optic 1XL and Fluence Spydrx video :)
I recommend Orca reflective material. It's white on one side, black on the other, and has great diffusion. I got noticeably bigger yields over Mylar.
Orca, eh?🤔 That's the third time I've heard this name brought up. I'm about to go on a Google hunt...
Orca is five times more expensive. Are you sure it's worth it?
@@Санчес-я1т it is expensive. Anything that is white with good diffusion will work great 👍

Do you make money doing this? You should, that's alot of work. Many thanks! Do you have a donation site?
Yo bro can mylar be overheat and can cause fire i wnna grow indoor
Have you tried using a standard wall mirrors would love to know
Never mind found info right after. Going with milar on a home build
Is mirror any good?
Does the silver diamond mylar reflect UVA & UVB
What about regular old aluminium foil?
The regular mylar won't create heat points?
What is the reflectivity of normal kitchen aluminium foil
I would like to know that too. I use that for some of my plants.
I used tin foil crinkled and works great and not expensive
What about mirrors, using old spare mirrors for reflection .to save lose of light.
they don't work...apparently!
:-)
what if you do it with mirrors ?
Nicely done, real science.
i hope Migro does a review of the Torus Hydro PerfectpH, it sounds to good to be true and nobody has tested it on youtube!
Good video very helpful.
I guess the white wash on a brick wall even helps.
I wonder if the Lighthouse tent material be bought in bulk. In other words, do ya have to buy one of their tents to get the material.

Hello... Hope your well, I've heard / seen the white mylar specifically sold as much better for LED. So is this just a sales gimmick?
How much of an effect does a reflective wall have on the Migro light? I'd assume because of the glass lens that the light is more defined or ??? thank you,
Yes. Using reflective walls improves efficiency by only 5%. The lens directs most of the ligh onto the grow area
