They had hollow parts along their vertebrae which would've help a lot with buoyancy in water.

Ye rex can swim but not for long
Take a look at elephants and rhinos swimming and camels crossing oceans. And those are mammals that weigh tons. It's not that unheard of for any huge land animal to be at least decent swimmers. Now, when your bones are mostly hollow, it's even easier.
