    Bio on Dietmar Pohl:
    I first saw First Blood with Sylvester Stallone in January 1983 and it changed my life forever. It's a crazy story that even Hollywood couldn't conceive of. After my studies, I started working in the knife industry, writing books, working intensively with special forces worldwide and developing knives for them. Thirty-five years later, I got the chance to develop the knives for the last part of the Rambo series, which closed a circle for me personally.
    I have been seriously collecting film knives since 1985. From 1987 also the originals from the USA. What I have always regretted as a serious collector was the fact that there were either only the very expensive and limited handcrafted knives of the knifemakers like Jimmy Lile, Gil Hibben and Jack Crain or the cheap replicas, which are only suitable as wall hangers. Neither the steel nor the quality of the workmanship are very good, because with these replicas one preferred to appeal to the film souvenir collector. The real knife enthusiast or even the right knife user couldn't do anything with these cheap replicas. My intention was to change something here from the beginning.
    We have developed our knives in three categories: the handmade version for the super demanding collector. All made by hand and limited to only 100 pieces. Then the High End collector series in cooperation with my partner Lionsteel. Here we only use really best materials. Galco as the original manufacturer of the Rambo 2 sheaths also came on board. Limited to 300 pieces each. And then the CNC² variant as a knife for real use. This series is primarily aimed at the real user, who wants to use his knife and want to have a reliable but also affordable knife. The custom version of the MK9 costs 2,375,- EURO, the CNC-Tec from Lionsteel 925,- EUR and the CNC² 359,- EUR. You can already see the difference. There are also no film or advertising prints on our knives as in the film souvenir replicas. No real operator would go into combat with such a knife! Our knives are primarily tactical knives that can be seen in a film. That's how I like to see the whole project. We don't do fictitious, unrealistic knives with glossy polish or the like!

    Great video. Thank you for the detailed instructions taking the scales off. Brilliant

    Really interesting Video ! Thank you for removing both scales ! Also very interesting is, that the sub hilt seems to be screwed on the tang ( wich is, for me, a very smart solution to put on the guard on the full tang ) So it maybe can be removed without destroying the original knife design ? Not a bad option , if you really want to use the knife for chopping.

    Thanks for the very informative video. Also, thanks for taking off the handle scales. Now, I see how they managed to install the guard. Using a detachable subhilt makes sense. Compared to the HCG and UC version using an outer shell attached to the tang to attach and secure the crossguard.
    Now, I’m curious on how the Pohl CNC2 Mk8 set up is......

    That’s a lot of steel ! My very first knife at about 12 yrs. was a Rambo survival knife lmao. I proceeded to almost severe my finger wacking trees. Have the scar still 35 years later lol.

      Lol, M-Tech can hire a guy who tells the public "I stand behind these knives", doesn't mean the knife is automatically worth $400. This knife looks like one of those M-tech knives I used to buy for 23$. Heat-treat doesn't look good on this guy either, 57 hrc on a CrMOV steel. Not shitting on the place of manufacture because Taiwan makes really good blades.

      @@foenix8094 I don’t know. I haven’t received the check ... Lol !! I guess I’m a fanboy of the Rambo series and have a lot of respect for the 3 guys that were involved with producing the knives for the various movies. Call them what you want. I’m impressed with the knife. 👍

      @@karlizen4990 I’ll have the Rockwell tested on this knife. But my understanding is that field knives need to retain toughness so the balance between hardness and toughness is a balancing act. Not every knife blade needs to be /or should be at a 62HRC. If you dislike the design then that’s purely up to each individual to make that call for sure. I’m a bit surprised that the word of a world renowned knife designer etc is equivalent to an unknown stand up M-Tech guy. Ouch....that’s a bit harsh. Pohl Force stands behind it’s products.... how is that a thing to be scoffed ? Just saying....

    • @LuvThemKnives
      @LuvThemKnives  3 роки тому +3

      No desperation to sell them. They don’t even advertise them on social media etc. You’re welcome to voice your opinion 👍. BTW....you’ll have to paint the blade first before you scratch the painted blade. It’s a bead blast finish....not painted.... Lol ! Happy Mother’s Day !

      @@foenix8094 I mean, scuff marks come with usage. lol I'm using mine, and so far no scuff marks, but when it gets them it'll give it character. I use my knives. The only ones I don't use are the Lile FB and FB2, those are in my living room along with a Threezero Rambo figure display.

    This should be Vanadis 4 E or 80crv2. These 2 steels fit a knife like this way better than any stainless,especially super stainless.

      Blemished ones are available at a steep discount right now on the Pohl Force website. Fine by me as I use my knives rather than just have them for display purposes, so it’ll be scratched up anyways. Just ordered mine for around $255 USD.

      It makes me pull my hair out when I see such boneheaded design flaws. CRKT has done it a number of times with recent folding knives (putting a drive head on an indexed fastener, i.e. a D-shaped pivot with a Torx head on it)). arggggh
