- Fishing With dean hidson in Northern Canada Trying to break my World Record Burbot I Caught Back in 2010 Weighting 25lbs 20z. We Fished Feb 25th-feb 26th in this episode (2023)

The average size of these fish is incredible. The fact that the big ones you are catching still need 6 more lbs to break your world record shows how massive that fish was. Good job guys!

Holy crap those are some big ol pout!! We used to have an eelpout festival here in Minnesota. You guys would have been rock stars with them beauty's. Even tho most ppl did more drinking then fishing haha

There aren't actually too many lakes with that size shoreline @ 40 ft depth in AB, for once you're making it easy 😅. All my PB's have been on Dief or Last Mountain, not so much in AB

Nice video, but why do you weigh your fish like that? There are products out there that help you weigh your fish in a safe and nonharmful way for the fish 🐟

How deep can you target them before they suffer Barotrauma?
Anything deeper than 30 ft if you aren’t quick with them. We were able to watch them swim down. One had trouble but did make it. I purchased a fizzing needle for my he next time I fish deeper than 30 ft.
Fizzing is illegal in Alberta.. not many ethical ways to target these fish since they live in the deep water or even when there in 30 ft they are next to deep water. Some of these fish do appear bloated

Where are you guys fishing? I have fished lots of lakes for burbot and i feel proud cause i got my p.b at 11.3lbs almost every fish you got was bigger than mine lol

When you have already caught a 25 pound fish in the past who really cares about 18 pound fish? I don’t. If I was looking for a record that I already have, I am not going to get very excited about a 20 pound pre spawn fish. No sense in hyping up fish that don’t even matter if you are looking for a bigger fish than you have ever seen or caught. Just saying.
