Go to the Lena River, there you will definitely be able to break the world record. And if you want to break the Russian record, you need to go to the Taimyr Peninsula, where a record male was caught in 1967. Large individuals are also found in Lake Ladoga, where they caught Burbot 35 lbs.
hate to be that guy but have you thought about maybe not weighing them by a hook through the jaw if you´re gonna release them? real impressive fishing tho, we don´t get them like that in europe.
i have been going for burbot all winter and no luck , Was this lake in alberta or a different province? i dont expect you to tell my your honey hole . I fished lac st anne all winter and nothing but one pike .. was using tubes and chicken livers
Yes in Alberta. I fished lac st Anne twice this winter. Caught none stop walleye and pike all day. Just a simple small treble and minnow 4 inches off bottom or lay on bottom and a tiny split shot 2 ft up to get you down. Jaw jackers work amazing with that rig in winter
A new New Hampshire state record was set for cusk (burbot) last year. I think just shy of 12lbs?? Pretty insane to see the size difference, 14lb off the bat
Funny how you fish burbot on the daylight, because here where I live in the northern europe we always fish burbot in the evening when the sun goes down and it gets dark. Is it maybe then a different species some how.
Hi! I can tell you that if You want to break your record, you have to go to the Lena River, Russia! There lives absolutely giant Burbots! records are over 20 kg!
Other than having some incredible & well deserved bragging rights, do you get some sort of "prize" for catching a world record fish? I'm thinking a new truck or something? @@fishinggeeks
My only thoughts is the limit in Alberta is 10 with no slot so they could have kept it. However, if they only want to keep 1 then releasing that one in not the best condition is still a better chance of a big one surviving than if they kept it. It may have looked worse than it was. The fish seemed sluggish out of the hole and may have only had issue going down because of hole size.
@@HaydenBye1221 I agree. Fish are sometimes funny like that. He could have just been taking his time, getting that water going through his gills. Definitely didn't see any blood coming out of anywhere that would suggest they should have kept it.
You're getting close to your 22 lb 8 oz! Can't wait to see the series and see you get a monster up that little hole.
That was pretty sweet. Something I could see myself doing. Going arfter those big ones!
I caught some on Okanagan lake this winter and in past winters. Over 5lbs up to 13lbs.
@@bennymiller4254 I haven't caught any in BC but I have caught a bunch of big burbs in Alberta usually while fishing for walleye and pike.

Nice fish guys! We're gonna have to edit on that release! Lol 🤣
I hear those fish taste awesome. Total tanks!

I agree. I use my net to weigh fish and subtract net weight after. Do it with all my rainbows 👍.
I’m still waiting for the invite haha.
You guys found the ball , I almost get skunked there last time but still manage to land a few
wow that is a awesome burbot right there,
A nice sized beauty of a catch too.
A job well done on this fish.
Some absolute giants there guys. Way to go. Love all the content can’t wait to see some open water trout soon from you guys
Those are some big lawyer fish. Why wouldn't you keep the bleeders though?
NZ crew checking in. Chilling like a villain!
masters! had my first experience this season chasin burbs thru the ice..... 100% hooked!

Great stuff, those are some impressive burbot. Well done.
How much feet of water do you chase for big burbot? 40-50 feet ? Or more or less ?
It actually depends on the lake. But 20-30 ft is usually best
A new New Hampshire state record was set for cusk (burbot) last year. I think just shy of 12lbs?? Pretty insane to see the size difference, 14lb off the bat
This is how you start off a fishing video. Big ol pizza pie
You took some big ones up that tight little hole! Some of them barely fit. Hope you find a massive one
ok, so what are you using for bait? I've only ever caught 1 and it was on a yellow tube.
Tube jigs 1-2 oz works. Any colours
Funny how you fish burbot on the daylight, because here where I live in the northern europe we always fish burbot in the evening when the sun goes down and it gets dark. Is it maybe then a different species some how.
Every lake the feeding habits are a bit different. In this lake we catch them all day and night. But yes, usually burbot feed better at night
I'm coming up to catch some huge rainbows in a few years. It's on my bucket list.
Are those 1ounce tube jigs? Like for lakers
fantastic work guys!!!! just wondering what kind of line and pound test you use for these kinds of fish?
14lb mono
I use 8 pound braid every time I jig tubes, right Sean 😂
Those are all tanks - rare to see an average size like that ..... wow ..... nice job
Awesome Footage 👍🏽 what do you about Sight fishing bourbon at night with underwater lights?
No lights used for targeting burbot. Just pound bottom with your hook. Bigger tube jigs work well
Glow tubes!!👌🏼

i like those big ones!! in beer batter!!!!
Really!? I've always thought it was a bottom feeder junk fish, we usually throw them in the field for fertilizer.
“We only have a 8 inch hole””we’ll figure it out” I found that hilarious
I can’t believe how dialed you are on the big fish. Do you use any bait on those tubes? Would you use tubes during the open water season?
Wow you guys have the big burbot dialed in!
We have those here in Maine we call them Cusk, though.
Worst fish to try and get a length on. They just roll up. Nice vid!
The record burbot of Finland is close to 19,52 pounds. Some day you´ll get a bigger one than that! 😁 Loved the video! Keep it up!
I hold the World Record at 25.2lbs caught in 2010 Saskatchewan Canada 👍👍
@@fishinggeeks Wow what a beast! 🤯 Late congrats on that fish! 😁👍

Amazing fishing!
8:08 "Look at that release". As much as i love you guys it seems you released it to it's death..... Why did you not keep it?

I can’t wait to ice fish for those sometime.
Terrific average size!! What time of year were you guys fishing in this video?
Those look a lot like giant eelpout.
those fish were insane!!!
Those were all amazing fish nice job guys!
Man that thing could barely fit thru the hole 😯 nice 👍🏽
Tapping bottom? Oh you mean banging sand! 💩
Bleeding a little bit. I'm yeah I stuck the scale in its gills.
They're kind of like sweetwater cod fish
Burbot masters!
Wow! Where’s this place?
Wouldn't want to be speak out of turn but I would assume they're fishing at Lake Diefenbaker in Saskatchewan, Canada.
No this is Simcoe lake
Nice Lawyers
Beautyful fish
