Love this video. UGGH, Sadly my Ryan has the slightly darker Cap, Thicker font, block BB and C T.C.G was off a little. Passed ALL the other tests. Granted I only paid $2 for it when I found it in a box at a flea market in a thick screw down, It does make a nice place holder for my near complete (84, now 85 away lol) 1968 set. Funny thing is that the Ryan has EXACT off centering on both sides as if it was printed perfectly but cut wrong. (Its the correct dimensions)
Thanks. Wish you could’ve zoomed in on those comparisons though
Thanks for the info. I just bought the complete 68T set and double checked my Ryan and it checked out. It's in EX condition and wanted to make sure since it's raw.
You must have some money cuz it's 68 that is expensive
Well shown. Something that I noticed when you were discussing the stitching of the ball on the back of the card, is that the Topps lettering is much thicker on the fake that you displayed compared to the real deal. Thanks for your time on this.
Great catch! And thank you! Book is almost done but I’ll add that in
I own no Nolan Ryan cards but still a great video to watch. I'm definitely buying your book....cant wait. Thanks for sharing this video. Have a great weekend.
Thank you for watching! the weekend was great
Thanks for this. I just bought an ungraded Nolan Ryan on ebay and hadn't thought about it being a fake until now. I think I'm in the clear as the card isn't centered and has all the features of a legit card. Still, you never know.
I love your shows
I have a Nolan Ryan RC PSA 6..imo it is one of the most iconic RCs of the late 60s. It's typical for the card to be off centered. I feel if it's completely centered then something don t look right unless if it's GEM 10. The Ryan Express is a true HOFer, I question why he's never won a Cy Young Award in his career.
The strike out king 🤴 is definitely real. Great video Ryan. Ventura still has nightmares about the fight. Cheers
Thank you and yup, the goat
I have a reprint of this card which is really old because I’ve had it for years, but it doesn’t have the card number on the back. Can you please let me know what that means? Is it an error card? Thank you
Very good info as always thanks!
Our pleasure
A very helpful video I have no clue if there are any mike trout fakes out there but my pick would be a trout rookie card great video
Have it on the channel already!
What about something from the 50's baseball? Sandy Koufax or Hammerin Hank Aaron RC? Are there any Lew Al Cindor RC fakes? Those larger cards are fetching a higher premium too.
I can cover them soon. This week is going to be an autograph card!
@@BreakoutCards ok cool! Thanks Nolan. Only cover them if their are some good fakes out there. Thanks for this series. Very informative.
Have this in mint condition , have a huge collection I am not sure what to do with it all pre 80s and need help with what to do , was passed down to me
Hey Charles, shoot me an email breakoutsports3@gmail.com
Dont forget to mention the different types of cross hatching. US produced 1968 Topps Nolan Ryan rookie cards have "course" mesh. Canadian and Venezuelan Nolan Ryan Rookies have "fine mesh" hatching. Understanding this is important because the most expensive 1968 Nolan Ryan Rookie cards are the Canadian O-Pee-Cee and the Venezuelan Ryan. Counterfeits use commonly available authentic Ryan Rookies and just put different backs on these Topps produced cards.
Good point
Excellent video. You made me go check my Ryan rookies. I bought all 4 of them in 1979 so I knew they were real but I had to make sure.
Thank you
I recently inherited 4 myself my dad was a huge fan and smart enough to put them in cases.. looking forward to getting them graded!
True. I just bought the 68T set n checked out my Ryan since in EX condition.
You have to use the flashlight test
Can you do one for Pete’s 1963 topps? Thanks!
Have a video on the channel for it already!
I have a good opportunity to buy this card. It's psa graded and signed by nolan ryan. Since it's psa graded authentic, is it safe?
I believe I may have purchased a reprint 1956 Clemente, I have a graded one by sgc and a raw one. Very hard to believe its real. Can you do one on the 56 Clemente Thanks, great video's
It will be on the list for the future. Thanks for watching!
Tops made made reprint sets
1965 Topps Joe Namath tall boy
Ryan, you probably know all this, but NR after the Ventura fight..."I wrestle young calves all the time, this was no different". Also, I think he has the record for pitches thrown in a game...?240. It's an ungodly number.
It is, Ryan was on another level. Glad to be named after him
Enjoyed the video homie....check out the 84 Donruss mattingly, I’m pretty sure I got a fake....
There are so many fakes of the Mattingly. It's going to be covered in the series
compare it to a common 84 Donruss. Is the back the same turquoise? That's usually the easiest way. I found 6 84 Mattinglys in a collection, 5 passed one didnt.
I know my Ryan rookie is real because mother put it in a shoe box in 1969. I have not had it graded but looks like at least a 6 or 7, could be higher. I had a second one and it was stolen by someone housesitting for us
It would be nice if you showed a few different fakes as they won't all have the same tells.
I do want to add more to videos. The book will have multiple examples
I guess the only way I can get the legit card is to buy a vintage 1960 old box pack of baseball cards, which have been trying to do.
7 goes for about $10,000
