- One of our favorite things to do while at the Outer Banks (besides off-shore fishing) is some good ol' Sheepshead fishing. In this week's video, see how we land some monster Sheepshead down at the Oregon Inlet bridge, just south of Nags Head.
Great video, well done. Tight lines to you 💪🏻
Was fishing with my childhood friend back in the early 90's on the same spot targeting Convict Fish as we called them, he hooked and landed a 12 pounder, the largest in the state that year.
Man that is awesome!! We landed a citation sheepshead a couple years ago. They’re a great fight and a lot of fun to catch.
Awesome video. Well made too
Supper informative. Thank you.
Good tips in this video, thank you for sharing
Yes sir any time!
Man hands down THE BEST sheepshead video on UA-cam and the funny thing is I pass that bridge every day to Rodanthe I work on the bridge! Could I pay you to take me to that spot at Oregon inlet they still have the boardwalk fishing spot closed over there I want a big bruiser sheep 🐑 baaaaad 😆
Man we appreciate it a lot! Yeah we could definitely take ya, but the only bad thing about it is we live about 7 hours away. We have a trip planned in October to come back and try it again!
Caught my first sheeps off that bridge! Checkout some of the sheeps in my video up at Chesapeake bridge tunnel
That’s awesome! Got to love the fight these fish put up. We will sure check that video out!
I fished there last summer on my kayak. Its not bad when the winds/current isn't ripping.
But when the wind and current work against you it’s awful. We tried trout fishing on them a couple weeks ago and it took forever to get back to the truck.
@@middletreeoutdoors8911 Yep, the inlet is pretty dangerous for current, i would not go out there if it's 60 or more coefficient on a kayak, as for wind anything beyond 8 or so knots from east/west is unfishable.
Awesome video. I used to fish the old orgeon inlet bridge a good bit but is there a way to fish the new bridge without a boat? I may be able to launch my kayak and get on one of the pilings but I don't have a boat. The old bridge used to have fishing access and you could climb down on the pilings...
I don't think there would be much of a way to actually climb up on a piling from a kayak because of the height off the water. The old bridge that had the fishing access is still there.
Awesome Video..A little confused on the 80 lb braid 60 lb mono shockleader set up..at the beginning u showed 40 lb Fluro.?.Also what Rod & Reel & brand hook..
Thanks
Mike
We ran out of rigs we had pre made that were 40 pound floro so we started making them out of 60 pound mono that I had on hand. 40 pound floro is preferred especially if the water is clear. The braid needs to be heavier than the leader because where we are fishing there is an underwater concrete ledge the fish love to run under. The short leader rarely contacts it but the mainline will nearly every fish. I was using an Offshore Angler Redfish Extreme in medium heavy action rod and a Penn Fierce II 3000 reel... the hooks are Eagle Claw lazer sharp live bait hooks #1 size (L319).
@@middletreeoutdoors8911 Thanks for the reply and
info Brother! Really appreciate it..!!
mike K Yes sir good luck to ya!
LOOKS Awesome !!! Where is the closest ramp ??
The closest place to put in is the Oregon Inlet boat ramp that’s where we put in.
What brand number 1 live bait hooks ?
We use mustad.
im at obx now
Good luck!!!
@@middletreeoutdoors8911 thanks
Can you get on the piling with a kayak
Unfortunately the pilings are so high off the water you definitely need a boat to get on them.
we were just there did not catch any thank you
Yeah in winter it can be tough.
