    Mazda is one of the last manufacturers that cares for the driver and make honest cars.... Reliable, fun to drive and great to look at with great quality. And the engines r the cherry on top of the cake...In theory other cars r more economical but reality says otherwise, not to mention reliability.
    Its a shame that this integrity in making cars disappears.

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l 4 роки тому

      Reliability is average among Japanese brands, rust is still an issue. The engines are absolutely awful, extremely slow and anemic while using as much fuel as turbocharged competition (which destroys Mazda when it comes to performance). Luckily you can buy CX-5 wich a diesel which is actually pretty good.

    • @TheMpamMpam

      @@sic22l I don't know if your data are coming from real life experience or reliability studies... All the Golf, skodas, Audis, ford's etc with the small turbo engines have terrible reliability and real life fuel consumption is also worst especially when u push the engine and it gets warm.
      Mazda ist the last manufacturer that really still innovates in this area and is sad that people don't see it and drink the cool aid

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l 4 роки тому

      @TheMpamMpam
      BS is what you're talking about. 1.4 TSI has been very reliable since 2012. 1.0 Ecoboost from Ford had some cooling issues which is ... typical for Ford because over the years multiple of their small engines had the same problem.Real world fuel consumption is also excellent as 1,4 TSI or 1,5 TSI average about 6-7l/100km in mixed driving. 1.5 TSI is especially impressive on the highway where not so small Skoda Octavia Wagon uses about 6,5l/100km at 140km/h. Mazda 3 Skyactiv-G needs about 8l/100km at that speed.When you push the engine? You don't need to push the turbocharged engine, it's the other way around - you need to push Mazda's engine just to keep up with the turbo driven calm.
      Mazda's innovations are pointless, Skyactiv-G isn't an innovation, those engines are disappointing in every way. Skyactiv-X is some sort of an innovation but it's a dead one - this engine is disappointingly slow and anemic below 4700 rpm while delivering similar economy numbers to 1.5 TSI (which pulls like a truck from 1500 rpm).

    • @TheMpamMpam
      @TheMpamMpam 4 роки тому +5

      @@sic22l relax you will get overheated like all these small unreliable engines that you describe. No reason to argue with someone that starts his argument with bullshit...
      As I said, people can drink the cool aid that leasing all these cars for 3 years has brought... After the 3 years it's another story.
      Have a nice day and keep calm

    After 3 years we sold our CX5 now and are waiting for our new car. We really liked our 2.5 Skyactiv G. On tours with slower driving we got it to about 7 liters on 100km. Two things though. Especially in Germany there is a huge problem with the insurance. The classes are extremely high, in comparison a Volvo XC60 or a Kodiaq RS are lots cheaper (depending on your insurance company), for us up to half (!) the rate of the CX5. And the Magma Red is really beautiful, but it is really very prone to scratches and small chippings from flying stones on the Autobahn. Steering is great, suspension on our 2018 CX5 could have been more comfortable.

    Seeing that beautiful, 6-speed manual gearbox makes me want to cry. We Americans are too lazy it seems (or perhaps too stupid) to understand the fun of a manual gear box. Thanks for a great review. Very high on my list of choices (even with the mandatory automatic transmission)....

      As a European I can say that I prefer automatic all the way. The "fun" of a manual gearbox wears out pretty quickly, especially in heavy traffic. Modern automatics are also way better than the old 4 gear ones. Most you can set in manual mode and you can shift when you want, just don't need to use your left foot. If you get shifting paddles than it's also fine. I don't see the point of manual gearboxes anymore. I'd say you Americans don't really miss out on anything in that respect. Except maybe on old cars. But that's just my humble opinion.

    Oh, nice to see AJ again! ❤ Everyone in the Autogefühl team is amazing, though. Cheers! Great review. 😎
    Mazda says they want to go more premium and compete with the big boys, but as a premium buyer I can tell you that they do a kind-of decent job so far, but they are still so far behind in so many ways. I do overall like it more than its competitors. I enjoyed experiencing it the most, but it still does not reach even the base models of more premium cars like Volvo and more. Some people have said that Mazda tightens the gap between it and luxury cars or puts luxury cars to shame. At a brief glance that may seem true, but if you sink your teeth into it like I did, even just a bit, you will start to notice the cracks and the statement is false. Anyone who says that is just saying that for clickbait or is exaggerating. Sorry. It does not do that at all. But does it widen the gap between it and its competitors a bit? Overall yes. It is more premium in relation to its competitors. And I am just talking about NVH, materials, comfort, technology (sensors, cameras, connectivity, software, suspension, etc). I don't factor in design and looks. Design and looks are subjective and does not determine whether a car is good or bad. Mazda is not ready to take on the big boys, especially since the big boys are evolving very quickly every year. But I respect them for trying. Again, they did do a decent job.
    The models I drove were a 2019 CX-5 and a 2019 Mazda sedan. I forgot its name. That is where my opinions come from. If someone does want a more premium car, but can't actually afford one, I recommend Mazda. Without question. €40 000 is quite a bit to ask for those in this segment, but I can say that it is worth it for sure.

    Good review, I've got the 2019 2.0L selection not all WD, which is lighter. On a long trip, taking it easy I get 6.1L/100, all around driving city/country I get about 7.2L. Not as much torque as the diesel model of course, but enough torque for most functions, 213nm starting at 2000rpms and maxing at 4000. No turbo makes it more reliable in the long run. I love it!

      @@MateuszMarek EU emission targets are based on averages. VW are a huge manufacturer that sells huge numbers of cars so they can sell higher powered engines and still keep their emission averages low.

I heard from many mazda car owners that you needed to wait for 2-3 weeks or even more if you wanted to replace something on your mazda and that's something that is not desirable. @@autogefuehl Not sure if you saw my question, so I am asking it again: How often are stores in Europe being supplied with Mazda auto parts coming from Asia? How long one needs to wait to have an auto part replaced, if needed? For instance, I wouldn't like to wait for 3-4 weeks for an auto part to come from Asia because it doesn't exist in Europe. So this seems to be a drawback for cars imported from Asia.

    This review is messy.
    Lots of complaints only most of it seems to be with things that are options, where it could/should have been mentioned there are choices.

    "This car looks a bit undertyred". Definitely, the most bizarre, idiotic, meaningless comment from a reviewer I've ever heard. This guy's not still working for Autogefuhl is he? Give me Thomas any day.

    Sorry, Mazda missed an opportunity. The entertainment system looks like the 90s and the engines are getting old...

    Lazy mazda. They should have (at the minimum) updated the dashboard/interior styling with newer one like in the mazda 3.

      It's a really old car that has been updated. Look at the first CX-5 and then this, and call them lazy again. It's all facelifts. And there is an all new CX-5 on it's way. It would be a huge waste of money for a small company to make new toolings for a new dashboard etc. And what other brand can you name that kept the body but changed the entire dashboard, doorcards etc? Look on the Mazda6 2020 interior. It's the same body as the one that came out in 2013.

    Come on, this internal combustion cars are really outdated. I guess there is something wrong with you, if you buy 2020 still a brand new car with ice engine.
    That’s not up to date anymore and technology from the last century.

      In theory you are right but you know EVs are a young technology though. We still need a big autonomy, fast charging or refuelling. Outaded or not this is how this whole world works.

      EVs are nowhere near ready to be a proper alternative.

      The nearest charger is 50 miles away from me. I don't have a garage available so I can't install a charging station. I don't want to spend 40 thousand euros on a car that has literally no options on it and I will spend half the time looking for a charging station just so that I can go to the airport. A hybrid with EV mode is good for me, but everything without a combustion engine will be hinderance not an advancement.

      Have absolutely no interest in an electric car. I will be choosing an internal combustion engined vehicle for many more years to come.

      @@sic22l In my country you're looking at a most basic Volvo XC 60 versus a loaded CX-5 that's just missing a few options like the more expensive paint or a different color for interior leather.

      Yes, let's force everyone to be driving EVs while EU parliment drives around in V8 BMWs and 5-liter Land Rovers.
      They're probably laughing at everyone who is forced to pay extra for the most basic plastic EV car or gets taxed all the way to hell if they want a V6 car or something bigger.
