  • In a major step towards boosting Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity and attaining energy security (self-sufficiency), Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals plant has purchased 1 million barrels of Agbami crude grade from Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO), one of the largest trading companies in Nigeria as well as globally, trading over 8 million barrels of crude oil per day.
The STASCO cargo contained 1 million barrels from Agbami and sailed to Dangote Refinery’s Single Point Mooring (SPM) where it was discharged into the refinery’s crude oil tanks.
The maiden 1 million barrels, which represent the first phase of the 6 million barrels of crude oil to be supplied to Dangote Petroleum Refinery by a range of suppliers, should sustain the initial 350,000 barrels per day to be processed by the facility. The next four cargoes will be supplied by the NNPC in two to three weeks and the final of the six cargoes will be supplied by ExxonMobil.

@@sterlingferguson1704 that thief, Emefiele informed us in March 2023, during the inauguration of the refinery, that Dangote has paid back about 70% of the loan used to build the refinery, so the pressure would not be too high. Also, crude is being supplied by local oil fields and it would be paid for in Naira, so no need to worry.
The main challenge now is that of supplies. Nigeria currently has the capacity to produce between 1.2m-1.4 m barrels per day and Dangote alone requires over 50% of that capacity. Meanwhile, NNPCL has contractual agreements to supply other refineries abroad, Nigerian crude, which places a huge burden on our local capacity to meet demands, including those modular refineries in the country, who barely get crude locally to refine.

Don't forget that the visionary Leader of yesterday the then Gov Bola Ahmed Tinubu intentionally after driving the oceans backward decided in his wisdom and visionary capability decided to leave this Dangote Refinery site as a free trade Zone! Now look at the result today. Co- Incidentally the same man is now the President of Nigeria and you say Gods is not involved?! What we need at this cross road time is a visionary leader one who will set the blueprint for Nigeria to achieve her maximum potential!! May the Good lord bless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and make him succeed for the next 8years🙏🏾🙏🏾🇳🇬🇳🇬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 #GreaterNigeriaRising🙏🏾🇳🇬

This man owns Nigeria 🇳🇬, he will be prioritised over modular refineries with the supply of feed stock again controlling and monopolising the market. He also received assistance from the government for this initiative. With the government owning 20% of the stake, they won’t even give a hoot about fixing the other refineries. Unfortunately this is not all good news for the average Nigerians because the price of petrol and diesel will continue to soar. This is a win win for the elite and selected few what can I say. This undoubtedly has put us on the world map in this category and obviously offer job opportunities for thousands & thousands of Nigerians

I believe that Dangote isn't paying for the products in dollars. The cost of refined products should be brought down so that we can buy at an affordable price. If possible, a moratorium should be given on Dangote's loan to relax the repayment burden.
Nigerians are making a lot of sacrifices as it is. We need all the reprieve we can get.

Even if Dangote s paying in dollars, I believe the cost refined products will be more affordable. The cost of transporting refined fuel from Belgium added a lot to the cost of refined product in Nigeria.

Dangote cement is the MOST expensive. Therefore, Dangote oil/fuel would be the MOST expensive. Instead of fixing the refineries in the South South, they donated $billions to Dangote to build unnecessary refinery in Lagos.

Like we never have functioning refineries before o. Indomie generation una no go kill me. Once upon a time, Nigeria had refineries that were refining crude oil, they are still there but what happened to them is what we don't know. So, what is historic about Dangote Refinery if Nigeria was working?

It is not going to significantly cheaper? Dangonte is businessman and his price will reflect the the price of the world market. The difference the docking cost (cost of shipping) of refined petrol which is less than 10 cents a barrel. Did his price of cement is no different. It is operating in a free trade zone so it has very limited tax obligations. There are however a lot of benefits, especially employment. Reduction in the price of PMS is not one of them.

He’s supposed to be buying and refining Nigeria crude. President Tinubu puts a hold on the license for him to acquire Nigeria’s crude. Now he’s got to buy from outside of Nigeria. The present administration just did him a favor. If he’s going to doubt profited by buying Nigeria’s crude. Now he’s going to be triple profited by buying from overseas. He’s going to tax. Price will jump high.

Only thing that will reduce prices is the government owned refineries all being online. Port harcourt, warri and kaduna need to be fully working and at 100%.
Dangote refinery is a private company. They will first and foremost be selling their product overseas to uk, america, europe or asia. These guys here are getting carried away.

I know what people say about fossil fuels. My take: 1) Africa is a massive continent. It has been said that a mix of green and fossil is more realistic. 2) Geopolitical shenanigans towards Africa has created a consciousness of Africans in and outside of Africa to the need to industrialize itself and oil is central to that. I'm not stating my preference for 100% green because only the Kingdom of God can make that happen. Until then, Africa will go the oil route for economic and security reasons, pressured by the Geopolitics AGAINST Africa since the year 1619 and contuing.
