The reason businesses have so much problem in Nigeria's local communities is because money in Nigeria is backside front. In Nigeria this is the reverse, and usually it never makes it back down so the locals do stuff like these to get their share. There is nothing wrong with it at all, the fed that doesn't want to reform the system is 100% the problem. The Energy Brand is known for environment friendliness, it is to incorporate its standards of Energy production on a long term, fossil free, as Water Turbines and Wind Turbines are UP for the Nigerian Country to develop and improve.
U know why Somalia Nigeria water problem financial instability and also mass firing by own country because of this company, u don't know nothing u r wrong
Environmental friendliness? Maybe in the west, go to the place and see the atrocities committed by Shell, Exxon and their goons. They got away with it by bribing officials. They are responsible for oil contamination that have ravaged the locals and destroy their land. It is actually a good news for Shell, Exxon and all the foreign multinational stealing Nigerian resources to exit the country. The consortium buying should make sure Shell is responsible for cleaning all the spillage or charge them billions of dollars to clean the mess. There has been spillage neglect in this region for decades. No access to water in this region, the water table had been contaminated, the river has also been contaminated. All these are source of livelihood for the locals. Many have died due to neglect by Shell and other Oil companies in this region. It's time for Nigeria to explore and refine their resources, then sell the refined product to neighboring country. Billions of dollars worth of crude are stolen through backdoor by Shell, Exxon and the rest annually.
The problems for Nigeria are not solved just because Shell is out. There is no way to know if the companies could operate better than the previous owner. In fact, I would say that the problems just got worst with lesser companies taking over. They most likely don't have the necessary resources and expertise to run those operations in that environment.
Lol, this "lesser" companies are doing a better job than shell, this is why shell is leaving crude oil capture in nigeria. Contrary to what you've been told, all the expertise (drilling and pump operations) for shell have been performed by Nigerians in the private sector.
@@dalemsilas8425better job how. Nigerians can't built and manage a refinery for 50 years. Drilling oil involves a lot of innovation. The local companies will hire some Indian firms and operate inefficiencly.
@@sblijheid They aren’t incurring loses. You have to look at the entire business and just not one small portion of the business. Many policy makers were/are trying to tax energy companies for what they call a “Windfall” tax. This will alleviate some of that if not all of that burden.
The reason shell has stayed this long in Nigeria is because the government supports it, against the citizen's will. Citizens has been fighting off shell through Legal and illegal means for decades due to the company's illicit activities and extortion of resources, damaging local environment and leaving the local helpless and hopeless. Lastly, the competition with local companies is becoming too high for shell to handle. Nigeria is the only African country that the local (Black Africans) owns the economy powerhouse. Nigerian economy is no joke! The local businessmen are smart and large-handed and very difficult to overpower in their own soil. Shell dominated from colonial advantage, but we all knew it wouldn't be so long.
Best comment and analysis. I used to tell people who cares to listen that Nigeria as an African country is a different ball game, when it come to control, politics and economy. The colonial legacies are wanning and our business and political environment, demands full control and the foreigners don't like to play or compete with indigenous businesses, because they see us as inferior, but we don't give a damn. The days MTN & Shoprite opened in Nigeria and they were making billions in revenue, I told some of my friends that it will only take 5 to 7 years and Nigerians will either take them over or compete with them. In the telecoms, Globacom was the first local company to confront MTN, disrupting their sector by introducing the per seconds billing, which almost knocked MTN & Econet out of their base...Today, the MTN Nigerian Franchise is majority owned by Nigerian, since it went public. Shoprite enjoyed initial monopoly and was doing brisk businesses, until some smart Nigerians started providing super retail shopping businesses, at smaller and similar business models, such as Justrite, Buyrite, Groccery & Bazzars, and so on...Shoprite revenue dropped & the sold out to a local business man. Shell and the other major oil players have no choice than to either remain and compete or sellout and give us room to fully control what belongs to us...This is Nigeria, the lGiant of Africa and we wont back down to any stranger on our own soil. *Yes, our heads may be bloody, but it will never be bowed.*
Politicians will own it now and will be doubly wicked. Shell obeyed court orders to pay up damages. Nigerian owners would rather kill any dissidents. Ask Buhari and Co and now the current president who never obey court orders.
Dangote refinery is ready. Nigerian government is getting serious about the refineries. Space for shell to do its shady business is getting narrower by the day. So time to act .
Everyone needs more than their salary to be financial stable. The best thing to do with your money is to invest it rightly, because money left for saving always end up used with no returns.
Am looking for something to venture into on a short term basis, I really need to create an alternate source of income, what do you think I should be buying?
Shell is not leaving Nigeria. It is simply leaving on shore. With this, they reduce risk and exposures dealing with local communities, their global reputation and possible requirements to clean up mess made over the years. They will likely sell it to a local company. Even if you accuse local companies of damaging environment nothing much will be done
If locals are taking over. Then, 1. It will still boost our economy, we're buying lesser forex. 2. I doubt them taking responsibility for Shells mistakes, they'll use home advantage. 3. It means we drill and refine our own oil locally and it might be hard for us to face the LNG direction that the world is going. 4. The west will leave Nigeria behind in all ramifications. We'll be forced to innovate and level up.

Shell also had the Nigerian military dictator, Sani Abacha, hang a group of 12 activists who protested ocee their oil resources.
Yes the New buyer will continue and correct the past errors
Story. They'll multiply the trouble and exploitation. Is it not companies owned by politicians that are buying it?
A new Nigerian buyer? Hahaha... the Europeans saints compared to the Nigerian politicians and their cronies who would buy up the fragments.
I am mr. Ezra odeworits from warri delta state of nigeria l am interested for the buying of oil company.❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
God bless Nigeria
in nijeria.. govt = business... all curropted
As a Nigerian I don't take this as good news, they are a multinational company with decades of experience but they couldn't clean up the mess.
I don't think the local companies buying them will even attempt to do it.
Once Shell is done with Nigeria, they’ll focus on messing up Namibia 🤦🏽♂️
Palki for president 🙌👏❤
❤❤❤❤our water is damaged. No fish in the waters. No land for farming. Learn our Niger Delta region
Locals rising against these corporate giants for saving the natural resources is good. Atleast they didn't ended up like the victims of Bhopal Gas Tragedy where even to this day victims are waiting for justice. Shame on our past government for being weak and selling the souls of millions of Bhopalis who died due to this tragedy. Good job Nigeria for holding these giants accountable and saving your people and nature.
You should rewatch the video. They get sued constantly for oil spills from theft.
💯👍@@sblijheid
Shell is heading to Guyana to make more money.
Thumbs up. Truly balanced reportage.
Good news for Nigeria 🇳🇬 ❤❤❤
0:07 👏🙏👏🙏👏...Thanks for the information
Thank you for the News, I hope the new buyers will clean up the mess this is really affecting the locals whose source of livelihood is fishing and agriculture
From Nigeria. Thanks
Check very Well.....They have realized that Nigeria will no longer patronise the RotterDam Refinery in no Distance time. Then they decided to unleash part of their Stake /s in Nigeria. The foreseeable Redundancy in the Netherlands Refinery has an undeniable IMPACT on this Decision.
God Almighty will forever bless Elhadj Dangote !
Exactly, this could be the main reason
Well they've done milking oil, the rest history.
Good.
They envisaged the upcoming indigenous oil marketers
@@UDAYKUMAR-cj5jeeven Somalia?
They turned them into corrupted officials...
Really
The world is turning green!
2.4 billion, that is cheap!
Shell has coer their cost a long time ago
The problems for Nigeria are not solved just because Shell is out. There is no way to know if the companies could operate better than the previous owner. In fact, I would say that the problems just got worst with lesser companies taking over. They most likely don't have the necessary resources and expertise to run those operations in that environment.
Lol, this "lesser" companies are doing a better job than shell, this is why shell is leaving crude oil capture in nigeria.
Contrary to what you've been told, all the expertise (drilling and pump operations) for shell have been performed by Nigerians in the private sector.
@@dalemsilas8425in time, we’ll know
@@dalemsilas8425better job how. Nigerians can't built and manage a refinery for 50 years. Drilling oil involves a lot of innovation. The local companies will hire some Indian firms and operate inefficiencly.
They have caused More damage than good in Nigeria, especially southeast Nigeria.
Shell has record profits and can write-off all of their losses.
Except, no company is in business to incur losses.
BS
@@efemzyekun900Good. Watch the Chinese too.
Nigerian and all African countries must nationalize their resources for the benefit of their ppl.
As an African I know that is absolutely stupid as our officials are beyond corrupt
Exactly
MuMu people everywhere…ask them…they will tell u the real reason why the are running away…I’m sure it’s got nothing to do with the spillage 😂❤
I am a Nigeria. I want Shell out of Nigeria for good. They have exploited us long enough
It's actually the federal government through NNPC that's exploiting us not shell

Shell should clean up the mess before selling out.
Then,
Who to blame the government
The people must buy it back.
There is only one reason that big oil up and leaves a place and that it know that most of the oil is gone ..
And if they mess up on the shore drilling activities, they would be held accountable for the oil spillage as well. No escape.
