As a sonic fan thought sonic 3 was amazing easily the best out of the other sonic films however I wish the film was longer since the pacing in the first half of the film feels really rushed but other than that it’s breathtaking sonic and shadow going super to a cinematic remix of live and learn was peak cinema, Jeff Fowler clearly has a lot of passion for the sonic franchise and is 100% the right person to direct these films, excited to see what they do for sonic 4 as it looks like an adaptation of sonic cd

yes!!!!!! i’m so happy with this movie , the little details get me, like “live and learn” playing on maria’s guitar, keeping on the subject of maria- i love how they gave her hobbies, there were stickers on her guitar, and it made her feel REAL and not just a character added for shadows backstory for sake of the plot. the difference between mufasa and sonic is that they CARE about the fans , disney is hoping people will go see their slop just by hugging onto their childhood nostalgia . now i could go on about the sonic movie for ages but that’s all that’s at the top of my head ATP congrats on 900 !!!!!!!!❤️
*How Sonic 3 beat Mufasa:* Director Jeff Fowler and Paramount listened to the fans and fixed the original Movie Sonic design. They delivered 2 good movies and the 3rd one was going to introduce one of the most beloved characters in the franchise and be based off of one of the best games in the franchise, so going into this Sonic 3 had nothing to lose. Worst case scenario is the movie would’ve been bad, but it wasn’t; many fans including myself agree it’s the best of the (currently) Trilogy. Mufasa on the other hand. While a Lion King prequel showing the origins of Mufasa, Scar, and their parents was a unique idea; the problem was a terrible story and it was coming off the same bland animation from the live action remake. All that plus it releasing the same day as a film that already had 2 successful films prior, it was doomed from the start. TLDR: Disney took a gamble, not considering it was potentially fighting a losing game, and lost.
I seen Sonic The Hedgehog 3 twice in 4DX(December 22 and January 1st), it was PEAK! Felt like an 8yr old for the whole movie too. I can still hear the theater sounding like a stadium during the Live And Learn scene and the two post credits scenes, just imagine what Sonic 4 will bring 😎
I saw the movie late, because I have no money right now and my friends could only get time off weeks after it hit theaters... so when we saw it, the theater wasn't even full, the rest of the audience was totally silent, and I was the only one losing their mind going hype and screaming... I felt very alone 😭 would have loved to hear a crowded theater cheer with me
Sonic 3 is not only my favorite film of the year, but my favorite film of the decade lol. I loved every second of it I hope that by Sonic 5 we get my personal favorite character being adapted (Silver)

Redeeming Sonic 06 would be the coolest thing they could do. But I think if they pull it off, it'll literally be the sixth movie. I mean, the marketing writes itself. That presents the question of what the fifth movie could be, though. Sonic Adventure 1? Unleashed? Hell, even Frontiers would be cool, but they'd have to leave out Eggman and Sage and I don't think it would really work.
I think that we will get Silver in that movie because besides Amy and Metal Sonic, Silver is the only other Sonic character that Paramount has been putting out hints for, 1. Maddie wearing a white hat and an aqua-green shirt during one scene in episode 1 of that Knuckles/Wade show, 2. That "Flames of Disaster" titled episode. Plus that studio has said that they have some big plans for Silver. So I've been suspecting that a Sonic 06 inspired movie with some much-needed improvement changes to the story plot of that game, could be what they will make the Sonic 5 movie be! In these recent years Silver joined Sonic and Shadow as the third one of my top favorite Sonic characters, so I really hope that this does happen!

Im one of the few people who slightly preferred 1 with the emotional heart of wanting to belong really kinda hitting home with me. This took the best of 2 and what i loved about 1 and delivered on all fronts. Everyone made this project with LOVE and a respect and appreciation for the others working on it with them! You love to see a project made with heart and soul. Great vid as always 😄
Saw it for a 5th time last night. I just get so giddy when they dap up. I also thought more about the GUN plot hole and found it really isn't one. There's no GUN insignias during the flashbacks and it still makes sense that Shadow would know about GUN considering it's all over Prison Island as he's escaping.

It's been a big relief that products that have been releasing in these recent years ( Sonic Prime, the SXSG Dark Beginnings prologue, Shadow's portion of that game and recently the Sonic 3 movie) have been slowly showing that the version of that character that was shown with a better personality in SA2, Heroes and Sonic 06, is finally coming back! I hope that this continues to continue and that the insufferablely annoying evil edgeloard version of him never comes back!

Who’d have guessed that Sonic the Hedgehog, of all the characters, would not only get a movie trilogy, but that his third movie would get the best reviews for any film adaptation of a video game ever. I was glad about the changes in the first, and went for support. And it was fun. 2 was a great adaption of Knuckles with a Eggman coming into his own. 3 was a masterpiece. A synthesis between the games, the lore and the movies. Fanservice yes, but meaningfully so

In a way Sonic Movie 3 reminds me of Spider-Man No Way Home, a threequal that formed a lot of hype by bringing charaacters that fans had wanted to see on the big screen for a while and also used a tragedy in the third act for a "with great power comes great responsibility" arc that changed the protagainst's characterization which some fans took issue with in the first two films (plus both released in Decmember)

I think what's interested me is how certain media being released around the same time can either be a fun collab, or a competition. Barbie and Oppenheimer resulted in Barbenheimer, and fans of both movies supported each other and resulted in a cool cultural phenomena for the summer. Animal Crossing and Doom joined forces to create some cool fanart in 2020. Sonic 3 and Mufasa don't have that collaboration. I'm not seeing fans making artwork of Sonic and Lion King characters and it's mostly discourse on who is doing better. Just an observation. It makes me wonder what the movies would look like box office wise if it was another Barbenheimer moment.

Thanks for the video, it's incredible how Fowler tries to follow the original formula of Sonic while doing these minor changes, even though I must say I was hoping for ARK to be included. Still, even in a cinema full of kids, the movie was incredible, hopefully they'll be able to capitalize on that.
sonic 3 is my favorite BC I LOVE SHADOWWWWW and i just cant believe how far we’ve come!!! i’ve been a fan of the sonic movies when it was literally announced the FIRST TIME!!! i was in 8th grade when the first trailer was shown and i wanted to see it. because of the sonic movie i’ve become a fan of sonic jn general. sonic’s character in the movie is something i can relate to, same with shadow in the movies (also in games) i love them all and i’m so happy that it’s getting so much love❤️❤️
To simplify the reason in my own way This speedy blue hedgehog has spent years saving the day and defeating Dr. Eggman and his robots on a daily basis.... It was obvious that beating a rat and his corrupted organization wouldn't be so hard😂😂 Still it's a good change
there's so much in Sonic 3 I love, especially anything with Shadow (the moon scene made me want to cry), my problems with the movie were mainly continuity or plot hole based (GUN showed as existing 50 years ago despite being formed in the second movie, Sonic working with gun immediately despite the last time they interacted they locked him up and then were useless in fighting Robotnik and Knuckles was attacked by rogue agents, why is Gerald alive, etc.) and too much focus on Gerald (i was not a fan of him being in the movie in general, but i swear hes on screen for longer than shadow) Also i wish Maria had actually got shot, not because its "game accurate" or because i like watching kids get shot, but because the first two movies and the knuckles series show gun being evil and ruthless some times (that guys scar in knuckles???) and then they just. had the guy "save" her from getting shot so she just blows up. i feel like it just kinda ruins all the buildup the other movies and show had to gun/the military killing her. But yeah I think ill like the movie better once I watch it again!!
I say its the most solid 8 movie i've seen i would've prefered marias disease and the space colony ark to the mountain base with regular maria setting but i guess they cut and changed it for time the scene with super sonic and shadow was the best also eggman joking about how tails and knuckles destroyed the moon overall i loved it
People are sick of corporate oligarchs shoving crap down our throats. The Sonic franchise has always had a hardcore dedicated fanbase and the movies have delivered KNOWING what they want and giving it to them, almost to the point of predictablity but its so good that it dosent matter. The Lion King story was told in '94. It was amazing and it didnt need a weird live action remake or a prequel of a character that wasnt even the focal point of the origional.
Sonic 3 was an amazing movie. If they had done Shadow wrong in any way, it wouldn't have succeeded. But the movie adaptation of Shadow was exactly like he should be. As for Sonic 4, many have been saying it's going to be inspired by Sonic CD. It very well might, seeing as Amy and Metal Sonic were introduced, but seeing as Shadow introduced first and he most likely will return, I also think it may have some Sonic Heroes vibes. If I would have to add one more character into the mix, it would be Rouge the Bat.
I watched the movie relatively blind (watched first two trailers and got spoiled on post-credits scene thanks to video thumbnails) and utterly LOVED IT! The themes were so good here, the pacing too! Nearly everything was a massive step up and the final act was so epic. The movie made me REALLY emotional at several moments, mainly THAT part with the music and shot of Earth towards the end of the movie. I do wish the movie was like 5 minutes longer, cause some bits during the first half feel pretty rushed (I noticed it and only watched the movie once so far). Plus the comedy towards the final fight felt unnecessary to me. I'm super excited for the next movie and the post-credits scenes had me POP OFF (in my head cause UK cinemas are quiet and I do like it that way lmao) too!

I think the Sonic movies as a whole are just....okay at best. Kids movies that are adequately entertaining and do their job just fine, but nothing more. Including the third one. My biggest gripes with it would have to be Shadow's rather little screentime, as opposed to Jim Carrey as both Robotniks. And Gerald Robotnik being portrayed as a goofball, when he needed more gravitas to be immersed in his plot of revenge. But no, they made him another Ace Ventura/Riddler/Grinch spoof character with an insultingly dumb death because lulz. The less is said about that dreadful Knuckles show, the better. It was a cringy sitcom where Knuckles barely factored in. What do I hope for these movies going forward ? First, a Shadow spin-off, to introduce Rouge and possibly Omega, and maybe do some adjustments to the ShTH videogame storyline, as Black Doom and the Black Arms will likely factor in. For the 4th movie, PLEASE don't do time travel bs, please don't do time travel bs. Just don't. Either go with a Heroes adaptation where Neo Metal Sonic acts like Ultron, controlling the other Metals, locking Eggman away and impersonating people. Or, if Carrey wants in full time again, an SA1 adaptation and give Tails some much needed development. I am not really feeling it with Amy as a girlboss.

It did. But compared to the 2019 Lion King, Mufasa's opening weekend made almost a quarter. Mufasa has been underperforming, just barely making back it's budget and marketing. Sonic 3, on the other hand, nearly made back it's budget on its opening weekend.
I dont want to be THAT guy but this video is not true, not only did Mufasa wipe the floor with Sonic at the box office but this year alone Disney made BILLIONS with Inside out 2 and Moana 2. Sonic 3 honestly dosent have a chance and the one to blame is Paramount, who thought releasing a film in such different days would be a good idea? Mufasa released globaly on December 20th while Sonic is not completly out until January 15th. Not to mention that the movie making its streaming debut on January 21st is prom to make people pirate the movie instead of watching it on cinemas. Sonic 3 was peak cinema, mufasa was ok at best and even tho Sonic 3 is the better movie in reality numbers dont really matter, the Gru franchise is a clear example.
I wouldn’t say it wiped the floor with Sonic - it only just managed to take the lead domestically over the last weekend after a month of losing, and the video was about the domestic box office, not the global one - but also, I had a feeling that would happen, especially with Mufasa being ridiculed on social media recently likely leading to hate-watching, which is why the video’s arguments are directed also at critical and fan reception, which Sonic is still (and probably forever will at this stage) wiping the floor with. The video is still true to that argument ❤️
I've heard that there's a reason for Sonic 3 going to streaming that amount soon that not everyone knows about. The reason that got mentioned is that when Covid hit, the deal of how long a movie would stay playing in theaters was changed. Originally movies from studios had to be in theaters for at least 60 days before they could be put on DVD or streaming. When Covid hit the deal was renegotiated to be that movies only have to be in a theater for 30-45 days at most now and that that's why a lot of films have been going on streaming in a month during the 2020s.
Mufasa was also at least double the budget, and clearly another attempt at a billion dollar movie like 2019's Lion King. Sonic is the more profitable movie dispite making less money.

How was Mufasa? Objectively speaking I mean. Did it have any good high moments? Or was it all just kind of middling through and through?
Im one of the few people who slightly preferred 1 with the emotional heart of wanting to belong really kinda hitting home with me.
This took the best of 2 and what i loved about 1 and delivered on all fronts. Everyone made this project with LOVE and a respect and appreciation for the others working on it with them! You love to see a project made with heart and soul.

Saw it for a 5th time last night. I just get so giddy when they dap up. I also thought more about the GUN plot hole and found it really isn't one. There's no GUN insignias during the flashbacks and it still makes sense that Shadow would know about GUN considering it's all over Prison Island as he's escaping.
There were GUN insignias all over the base where he and Maria used to live. Even on the big door, there's a GUN insignia.
Of course there's no plot holes. You think they'll make the same mistakes Sega made when they developed that God awful Shadow The Hedgehog video game?

It's been a big relief that products that have been releasing in these recent years ( Sonic Prime, the SXSG Dark Beginnings prologue, Shadow's portion of that game and recently the Sonic 3 movie) have been slowly showing that the version of that character that was shown with a better personality in SA2, Heroes and Sonic 06, is finally coming back! I hope that this continues to continue and that the insufferablely annoying evil edgeloard version of him never comes back!

Who’d have guessed that Sonic the Hedgehog, of all the characters, would not only get a movie trilogy, but that his third movie would get the best reviews for any film adaptation of a video game ever. I was glad about the changes in the first, and went for support. And it was fun. 2 was a great adaption of Knuckles with a Eggman coming into his own. 3 was a masterpiece. A synthesis between the games, the lore and the movies. Fanservice yes, but meaningfully so
Both IPs have decades of history, it's just that one was respected in it's adaptation, the other was made for a quick buck.
I’ve been familiar with Sonic my whole life but in the months leading up to the third movie, the hype others felt for it led me to start playing Sonic Adventure 2, which then led me to love the entire franchise. Even before this movie came out, it made me a Sonic fan

I went into Sonic 3 wanting to see Shadow being edgy and the moon blow up, but we got so, so much more, I’m honestly struggling to comprehend how well they pulled off such a tough story in this goofy movie world

In a way Sonic Movie 3 reminds me of Spider-Man No Way Home, a threequal that formed a lot of hype by bringing charaacters that fans had wanted to see on the big screen for a while and also used a tragedy in the third act for a "with great power comes great responsibility" arc that changed the protagainst's characterization which some fans took issue with in the first two films (plus both released in Decmember)
Man, I hope Sonic 3 overtakes Mufasa internationally.

I think what's interested me is how certain media being released around the same time can either be a fun collab, or a competition. Barbie and Oppenheimer resulted in Barbenheimer, and fans of both movies supported each other and resulted in a cool cultural phenomena for the summer. Animal Crossing and Doom joined forces to create some cool fanart in 2020.
Sonic 3 and Mufasa don't have that collaboration. I'm not seeing fans making artwork of Sonic and Lion King characters and it's mostly discourse on who is doing better. Just an observation. It makes me wonder what the movies would look like box office wise if it was another Barbenheimer moment.

Thanks for the video, it's incredible how Fowler tries to follow the original formula of Sonic while doing these minor changes, even though I must say I was hoping for ARK to be included. Still, even in a cinema full of kids, the movie was incredible, hopefully they'll be able to capitalize on that.
sonic 3 is my favorite BC I LOVE SHADOWWWWW and i just cant believe how far we’ve come!!! i’ve been a fan of the sonic movies when it was literally announced the FIRST TIME!!! i was in 8th grade when the first trailer was shown and i wanted to see it. because of the sonic movie i’ve become a fan of sonic jn general. sonic’s character in the movie is something i can relate to, same with shadow in the movies (also in games) i love them all and i’m so happy that it’s getting so much love❤️❤️

there's so much in Sonic 3 I love, especially anything with Shadow (the moon scene made me want to cry), my problems with the movie were mainly continuity or plot hole based (GUN showed as existing 50 years ago despite being formed in the second movie, Sonic working with gun immediately despite the last time they interacted they locked him up and then were useless in fighting Robotnik and Knuckles was attacked by rogue agents, why is Gerald alive, etc.) and too much focus on Gerald (i was not a fan of him being in the movie in general, but i swear hes on screen for longer than shadow) Also i wish Maria had actually got shot, not because its "game accurate" or because i like watching kids get shot, but because the first two movies and the knuckles series show gun being evil and ruthless some times (that guys scar in knuckles???) and then they just. had the guy "save" her from getting shot so she just blows up. i feel like it just kinda ruins all the buildup the other movies and show had to gun/the military killing her. But yeah I think ill like the movie better once I watch it again!!
I've heard that a deleted scene reveals that Gerald used one of Shadow's quills to keep himself alive for this long.
I say its the most solid 8 movie i've seen i would've prefered marias disease and the space colony ark to the mountain base with regular maria setting but i guess they cut and changed it for time the scene with super sonic and shadow was the best also eggman joking about how tails and knuckles destroyed the moon overall i loved it
People are sick of corporate oligarchs shoving crap down our throats. The Sonic franchise has always had a hardcore dedicated fanbase and the movies have delivered KNOWING what they want and giving it to them, almost to the point of predictablity but its so good that it dosent matter. The Lion King story was told in '94. It was amazing and it didnt need a weird live action remake or a prequel of a character that wasnt even the focal point of the origional.

Sonic 3 was an amazing movie. If they had done Shadow wrong in any way, it wouldn't have succeeded. But the movie adaptation of Shadow was exactly like he should be.
As for Sonic 4, many have been saying it's going to be inspired by Sonic CD. It very well might, seeing as Amy and Metal Sonic were introduced, but seeing as Shadow introduced first and he most likely will return, I also think it may have some Sonic Heroes vibes. If I would have to add one more character into the mix, it would be Rouge the Bat.
Best Movie of 2024, and best Video Game Movie Ever.
I watched the movie relatively blind (watched first two trailers and got spoiled on post-credits scene thanks to video thumbnails) and utterly LOVED IT! The themes were so good here, the pacing too! Nearly everything was a massive step up and the final act was so epic. The movie made me REALLY emotional at several moments, mainly THAT part with the music and shot of Earth towards the end of the movie. I do wish the movie was like 5 minutes longer, cause some bits during the first half feel pretty rushed (I noticed it and only watched the movie once so far). Plus the comedy towards the final fight felt unnecessary to me. I'm super excited for the next movie and the post-credits scenes had me POP OFF (in my head cause UK cinemas are quiet and I do like it that way lmao) too!
I'm may Disney and Sonic fan but Disney should *LIVE* and *LEARN* rather than create brainrot live action remake movie 😑 , I offer my life for hail Shadow and for the better future 💙 🤲 !

What initially looks like a 140 million USD difference is only 62 million USD, not even half of 140 million.

I think the Sonic movies as a whole are just....okay at best. Kids movies that are adequately entertaining and do their job just fine, but nothing more. Including the third one. My biggest gripes with it would have to be Shadow's rather little screentime, as opposed to Jim Carrey as both Robotniks. And Gerald Robotnik being portrayed as a goofball, when he needed more gravitas to be immersed in his plot of revenge. But no, they made him another Ace Ventura/Riddler/Grinch spoof character with an insultingly dumb death because lulz.
The less is said about that dreadful Knuckles show, the better. It was a cringy sitcom where Knuckles barely factored in.
What do I hope for these movies going forward ? First, a Shadow spin-off, to introduce Rouge and possibly Omega, and maybe do some adjustments to the ShTH videogame storyline, as Black Doom and the Black Arms will likely factor in.
For the 4th movie, PLEASE don't do time travel bs, please don't do time travel bs. Just don't. Either go with a Heroes adaptation where Neo Metal Sonic acts like Ultron, controlling the other Metals, locking Eggman away and impersonating people. Or, if Carrey wants in full time again, an SA1 adaptation and give Tails some much needed development. I am not really feeling it with Amy as a girlboss.

I dont want to be THAT guy but this video is not true, not only did Mufasa wipe the floor with Sonic at the box office but this year alone Disney made BILLIONS with Inside out 2 and Moana 2.
Sonic 3 honestly dosent have a chance and the one to blame is Paramount, who thought releasing a film in such different days would be a good idea? Mufasa released globaly on December 20th while Sonic is not completly out until January 15th.
Not to mention that the movie making its streaming debut on January 21st is prom to make people pirate the movie instead of watching it on cinemas.
Sonic 3 was peak cinema, mufasa was ok at best and even tho Sonic 3 is the better movie in reality numbers dont really matter, the Gru franchise is a clear example.
I wouldn’t say it wiped the floor with Sonic - it only just managed to take the lead domestically over the last weekend after a month of losing, and the video was about the domestic box office, not the global one - but also, I had a feeling that would happen, especially with Mufasa being ridiculed on social media recently likely leading to hate-watching, which is why the video’s arguments are directed also at critical and fan reception, which Sonic is still (and probably forever will at this stage) wiping the floor with. The video is still true to that argument ❤️
I've heard that there's a reason for Sonic 3 going to streaming that amount soon that not everyone knows about. The reason that got mentioned is that when Covid hit, the deal of how long a movie would stay playing in theaters was changed. Originally movies from studios had to be in theaters for at least 60 days before they could be put on DVD or streaming. When Covid hit the deal was renegotiated to be that movies only have to be in a theater for 30-45 days at most now and that that's why a lot of films have been going on streaming in a month during the 2020s.
Mufasa was also at least double the budget, and clearly another attempt at a billion dollar movie like 2019's Lion King.
Sonic is the more profitable movie dispite making less money.
