That’s because those times has created anti-monopoly and anti-trust laws that have lately been dismantled by the Republican Party.
Also, corporations have learned how to circumvent existing laws and becoming monopolies through loopholes.

+chris mokelky In America at least their are unions so you get paid fairly. In the late 19th and early 20th centaury you worked for eighteen hour a days and barely made enough to get by. The bourgeoisie still has more power but it's fair at this point in time.
+dare colbert imo this is hardly fair, there might have been a major shift in power over the last decades, taking the "middelclass-manager" in consideration. Hasn't this just formed a new elite? And are we not talking constantly over the expnading gap of wealth between poor and rich? I think society is evovling constantly and alongside to that natrual progress society is being pushed, pulled, manged, navigated etc. pp. into a certain direction, #neolibrism (?) by itself: a certain cultural habit, an acknowledged code of ethics, public eductaion, media, politics, and so on.
The "rich" still have the power, the set the rules, we have just a different point of view nowadays, since we believe in sayings like: hard work pays and the equality of chances. That's a lie that never has applied and never will because the foundation of that would be: All humans are equal. Impossible.

My parents came to America and rented someones dining room floor to sleep on for several years. then they bought their own house. I was the first person to go college in my family. Today I have a six figure salary. I looked at what the market wanted. I didn't get a degree in music or art. You will always have a hierarchy in absolutely every faucet of life. if everyone was equal, then we would be looked for a way to set ourselves apart. the expanding gap between the poor and rich has many elements to it.

I like the content and voice but this is not the style of a teacher. It's more like a youtube video thing. May be I am wrong but I am making this statement because I thought Khan Accademy is like an online lecture kind of a thing. I'm sorry if that's not th case. but for me the speaker should speak a little slower it allows the student to absorb the info that she's giving. This was the case in other videos too. thanks
