Always open the top first. If you drain the whole thing and then can't open the fill you are stuck. You also want to use a torque wrench when tightening. Great video all around.

Would it not have a torque specification for both the drain and fill plugs❓.

So what happens if you have removed the drain bolt ... but can't remove the fill ... for any reason? No RTV of the fill bolt?

Do not take lessons from this DIY guy. LOL Fill plug always 1st. Also it helps when you try to loosen your fill and drain plug by turning the wrench in the proper direction. LL RT

Chris, you just messed up. Always, remove the fill bolt FIRST! Then drain the fluid. Imagine draining the fluid and CANNOT remove the fill bolt. Are you going to turn the truck upside down? Amateur mistake !

My 2013 frontier owners manual (US) says 75w-140 is for 6 speed manual transmission and off road vehicles only. All else uses 75w-90.

The 2013 SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE for my year is showing service intervals of 30,000 miles for differential, transmission(auto and manual), and transfer case fluid as part of the optional premium maintenance service*.
Transmission Fluid/Oil, Differential Oil, Transfer Case Oil Visually inspect for signs of leakage at specified intervals. If towing a trailer, using a camper or car-top carrier, or driving on rough or muddy roads:
      ● replace the fluid/oil every 30,000 miles or 24 months.
      ● For vehicles with a CVT transmission (cube, Murano, Altima, Altima Coupe, Maxima, Rogue, NV200, Sentra and Versa), replace the fluid every 60,000miles or request the dealer to inspect the fluid deterioration data using a Consult. If the deterioration data is more than 210000, replace the CVT fluid. Automatic transmission fluid for 370Z and NV 1500/2500/3500 is maintenance-free.
*PREMIUM MAINTENANCE Premium Maintenance is a Nissan recommended optional upgrade that adds services to Schedule 1 and 2 when maintenance is performed. Performing the Premium upgrade services may optimize the performance, durability, reliability, and resale value of your vehicle. (Premium Maintenance items are available at every 30,000 miles or 24 month interval.)

Do you have to put any RTV sealant on either of the bolt threads , or is it optional?

I would use anti seize on the drain and fill nut.

I've seen forums citing the service manual:
      C200(8 bolt)
Fill plug Apply silicone RTV or equal
      Drain replace gasket
      Fill and Drain 36Ft-Lb
      M226(12 bolt)
Fill and Drain plug Apply silicone RTV or equal
      Fill 25Ft-Lb, Drain 20Ft-Lb

I thought you are supposed to break the top free first just in case you can't break it free

Just tighten the nut a little then reverse to take the nut off. This seems to work for me when I have a nut or bolt that doesn’t want to come undone.

My apologies, I “fat-fingered” by mistake.
