Robert is a huge inspiration in so many ways. Glad you had him on. To those who don’t listen to his long, immensely detailed podcast, you’re missing out. I especially recommend the “Booth series”, “Saylor series”, etc.
First I'd heard of Mimetic Desire ... immediately bought the audiobook to listen to on the train ... and then as I continued to listen to the interview, I found myself nodding with what Robert was saying about mimicking those people who we've developed a connection with. Like, I learned a lot about Austrian economics through listening to Mr. Breedlove and then that rabbit hole took me on to many other places in this whole journey of self actualization.
Always a fun time when my two favorite show hosts have a conversation. Last time you could clearly see differences in viewpoints (and there was a little of that this time), but you see a lot more alignment of views this time around, and it makes for a lot of positive energy and sharing of thoughts. Gave me a few things to think about which I hadn't heard before too, so definitely a treat!
I'm 10 days late... But this was a conversation worth following. A long time ago, "what Bitcoin did" and Breed love's channel were the only Bitcoin focused channels I was subscribed to. Nice to see you together!
Enjoyed this. I’m an American, but lived in Europe for just under three years. I loved the culture, history, architecture…so much. It will forever be in my heart. Two beautiful minds. Humility, kindness and sincere hope for the betterment of us all. Much respect.
The energy in this conversation was very positive. I felt part of an interaction between two friends, who come from different places and don't always agree, yet they always learn from each other. One note on fasting: I did pretty extreme fasting for a year and half, i.e. 22 hours daily, and the muscle loss is no joke. The longevity guys have turned around on fasting due to this find and limit how often they do it. Lift a lot during it and keep your protein very high when you do it.
When I discovered Rob Breedlove, I found him very abnoxious, but I feel like he has changed. A lot more calm and he now genuinely listens to the person with him. I'm glad because he clearly is a strength for the community
Not sure if anyone watching this was at the Miami Bitcoin conference, but I was quite impressed with the session Robert did on the main stage which was somewhat non PC and I applaud his bravery to present his thoughts uncensored shall we say.
I love this conversation, spot on with the banter about the nature of the problems, (Fiat is the way is akin to alcoholic denial ... The thing that is killing me is the thing I think is giving a little bit of sanity. It ends badly., but not hopeless. ) "Learning out loud..., with other people..." I would call that "discovery learning" asking questions to get a better question, instead of insistence on getting an answer to relieve my cognitive dissonance. Live with the dissonance the answers will come. Keep the conversations going, you spread hope and inspiration.
Really liked this one Peter. I like how the conversation wondered. I like Breedlove, but sometimes he's a bit dry to me. You made him fun and interesting. I think that is your strong point with all your guests. Keep up the good work.
To answer Peter’s question ‘Can fiat actually be shown to have been good in some way? …it all depends upon who’s the arbiter of ‘whats good?’ For example, unfettered money printing has certainly fed American innovation and dominance in the military industrial complex. A private military contractor with $250k salary training allied nations how to operate the 1000 American tanks they just purchased can likely rationalize his equipment’s cutting edge innovation as ‘good’ and even necessary for spreading democracy or ‘liberating’ some folks. Can he do so without acknowledging the other perspective which is that he’s actually in the death business and generations of entire populations potentially end up less free than if the American military industrial complex had never poked its nose under the tent?
The UK is the size of a medium-sized US state. If you go to any one state, you will find more political homogeneity, like the UK. You have differences, but these people live and work by each other. It would be more accurate to compare political and cultural polarity accross the whole of Europe.
Robert I try do listen to you often each time I’m more impressed I’m half way thru this and sure he shouldn’t be challenging anymore. There will be a point where your the special guest not the interviewer
I liked this interview, I like Breedlove too. Only improvement would have been if you would have discussed Bitcoin. Perhaps something interesting like Operation Chokepoint 2.0, or some other Bitcoin topic that is philosophical and in Breedlove’s wheelhouse
Both of you together in a podcast feels just right. the next podcast you do together, talk less about podcasting, less about taxes and state (we know already what you both think about that all too well). and more about everything else around bitcoin and related to bitcoin. You should do 2 podcast together a year. one in UK and another in the US. And maybe just maybe, you should gather yourself in asia and share common amazement about the bitcoin asia scene.
I could've listened to you guys ad infinitum. Nice to hear that you are in the game of longevity 👌 PS: I'm reading the Incerto series again and it's almost unfathomable why NNT abhors Bitcoin. Besides Breedlove's thesis, it might be that he just forgot the content of his books (he acts quite similar to the intellectuals he despises so much in his series) 😉
If "cheap money" bring more innovation and prosperity, Argentina, Turkey., Zimbabwe and Venezuela is probably most prosperous and innovative countries in the world.
you guys are killing this one, at least ten times better than the last show done together (Petes got home field advantage and seems comfortable 😊) very enjoyable and easy to listen to. you both bridged the gaps between your ideals. "When I was weak, I couldnt afford to be weak... I had to defend myself constantly... now that I am strong, I can afford to be weak." -Clancy I. also, where the F@$# is Danny? you cant parade a beefy breedlove out there and think you can short us our Danny time
All taxation is income redistribution. It’s taking money from one person to use for something that will benefit someone else. Example: taxation for funding public schools, even if you don’t have children. Taxing to build roads, even if you don’t owe a car. And on and on.
2:55 "The first American Indians came to North America between 11-12,000 years ago." Americans can and ought to look for ancient cultural wisdom from this land.
Robert is right though, UK tax pays for the Royal Monarchy's events, marketing for tourism or not. The money spent could be utilised for more important things IMO
re. "chasing numbers": Imo that's a stupid approach, because we love You for making *Your* show. Having a "big act" on doesn't remove that... So to both of You: I hope You never start chasing the numbers. That way they will come to You on their own... Keep going... Love you, guys.
Fasting for health is fantastic, but should be limited to 48 hours at a time maximum. That's all you need to reach maximum cell health, and the injury risk is very low. Anything longer should be done strictly for psycho-spiritual purposes, and accompanied by prayer/meditation.
Pete… No bread, no rice, no potatoes. Huge salad for lunch, with salmon or chicken, dinner is steak, pork chop, chicken or fish BUT 1/3 portion you used to eat. No eating after dinner while watching TV and say no to the chocolate. Have a drink of water with some electrolytes in it to fill you up.
Taleb is paid to speak at tradfi events. He’s not going to bite the hand that feeds him. He’s also at the end of his career and keen to sustain the status quo
Loved this conversation. Glad you covered Taleb, his arrogance has been really hard to watch. I loved Black Swan and Anti-Fragile, but the man's losing the plot today.
30:59 What I think Peter is getting at in his question are the benefits of fractional reserve lending throughout time. If an economy had a fixed amount of money for lending, its growth/innovation would be severely limited. Sounds like Robert might be conflating government bailout "money printing" with fractional reserve lending "money printing" without identifying what money printing actually is.
His point is that all money printing steals from the savings of the public without their consent, and gives that money to people who already have everything, furthering class division.
A centralized authority that has the power to create currency at will, at virtually no cost, creates massive negative externalities - inflation (taxation without consent), malinvestment, unsustainable systemic leverage, etc. Putting constraints on lending is a GOOD thing, as only the most worthwhile, low time-preference projects will be funded.
not sure I agree with your interpretation of 'privilege'. My parents were working class, i went to state school, I paid off my student debt through work, I studied to become a teacher......not sure the fact that I live in Thailand (can't afford a house in the UK) is a privilege, I earned it. I also put three kids through Universities in the UK and Melbourne. I was lucky to be born in the UK in the early 60's, but that was not privilege, a privilege is a special right conferred upon people. There is a major difference
legitimately curious, why did he make that comment about cardano? i generally consider myself pretty orangepilled and no longer buy alts after learning more about crypto in general, but i do think other chains will be needed to enable the new online experiences of the future. so im wondering why is cardano bad?
Move on, man. People are allowed to make mistakes (or viewed as making a mistake). Robert had proven himself time and time again to be an overall asset and ally in the space.
Robert is a huge inspiration in so many ways. Glad you had him on. To those who don’t listen to his long, immensely detailed podcast, you’re missing out. I especially recommend the “Booth series”, “Saylor series”, etc.
yup!
I love the natural conversation between you two. Great job.

Always love Breedlove's growth and perspective
This was a fun conversation. Very smooth and entertaining in an overall general sense. Keep up the good work Peter and team!
I'm 10 days late... But this was a conversation worth following.

Nice to see you together!
My two favorite BTC Podcasters...Cheers Men!

Breedlove is an intellectual beast! Great convo boyz! Go BTC baby!
The energy in this conversation was very positive. I felt part of an interaction between two friends, who come from different places and don't always agree, yet they always learn from each other.

I like how Peter mimicked Robert's look for this interview, such dedication to his craft.
also: mimetics🌞

Lol yup
When I discovered Rob Breedlove, I found him very abnoxious, but I feel like he has changed. A lot more calm and he now genuinely listens to the person with him. I'm glad because he clearly is a strength for the community
100k subs. congrats, pete & danny. y'all deserve it.
Loved London. Was there in my 20s and jumped over to Dublin after then Spain. Love the history and even the mist while sitting at James Park
Breedlove is instant thumbs up. I always learn a lot with him.
Not sure if anyone watching this was at the Miami Bitcoin conference, but I was quite impressed with the session Robert did on the main stage which was somewhat non PC and I applaud his bravery to present his thoughts uncensored shall we say.
How has this been up for 3 hours and no one has commented, Breedlove's a legend
Two of my favorite people on the same podcast! Excellent! (BTW, people, hit the damn like button!!!)
I love this conversation, spot on with the banter about the nature of the problems, (Fiat is the way is akin to alcoholic denial ... The thing that is killing me is the thing I think is giving a little bit of sanity. It ends badly., but not hopeless. )

Good interview, made me a little more open to Breedlove.
I never foreseen Bitcoin community being so helpful. Its the strangest experience.
Really liked this one Peter. I like how the conversation wondered. I like Breedlove, but sometimes he's a bit dry to me. You made him fun and interesting. I think that is your strong point with all your guests. Keep up the good work.
What a treat, thank you☕
Where do they sell those hats that sit to the side like that? The store i checked only had ones with the Bill on the front. 😢

I didn’t quite catch the podcast name he recommended at the start of the podcast. Could anyone else make out the name?
Great pod!

Jesus, McCormack is killing it.
Love you both!

Brilliant episode
Surprisingly good.
Sydney is way better than all those cities you mentioned! Beautiful beaches, great city and amazing weather 😉
Great talk! Nice to see your way to anarchocapitalism 🙂
Insta like and comment and stuff.
Thanks for all the good content Dany and the other fella.
"Toblerone or a bag of revels" 😂 idk why this made me laugh so much
What's the podcast Peter mentioned at the beginning? Marty and Bin? what? Halp me out! Thanks.
I hope, Peter, you are coming to Australia this year because I bought the ticket! 😊
I liked this interview, I like Breedlove too. Only improvement would have been if you would have discussed Bitcoin. Perhaps something interesting like Operation Chokepoint 2.0, or some other Bitcoin topic that is philosophical and in Breedlove’s wheelhouse

America is very pro Freedom. No one can beat us at that.

i wish i had more hands so i could give this pod 4 Thumbs Up!!
Probably the OG philosopher of Bitcoin. Beware of the rabbit hole roberts podcast will lead you down.
One point on the monarchy part is you don't know the opportunity cost of the capital invested may have returned a more profit elsewhere.
It’s pure fiction that they are a net positive for the economy. If I was the king, that’s what I would want my tax-paying minions to believe as well.
Everyones filter bubble is different.
Peter and Robert. Two great guys in a great podcast. Thank you.
good ep
2:55 "The first American Indians came to North America between 11-12,000 years ago." Americans can and ought to look for ancient cultural wisdom from this land.
1:05:00 - he trusts politicians promoting bitcoin. Oh dear. And Taleb. Even more oh dear.
Robert is right though, UK tax pays for the Royal Monarchy's events, marketing for tourism or not. The money spent could be utilised for more important things IMO
Expansion of the money supply absolutely has to be tied to the size of your population. PERIOD!
Loved this interview. If I wasn’t a btc fan I would be now. Both so willing to disagree and learn
Thanks.
I’m buying dinner next time you guys are in London :)
You should get Curtis Yarvin on the show
Guys pls get in John Zherka …… would be an insane pod!
re. "chasing numbers": Imo that's a stupid approach, because we love You for making *Your* show. Having a "big act" on doesn't remove that... So to both of You: I hope You never start chasing the numbers. That way they will come to You on their own... Keep going... Love you, guys.
The economy is not a machine, you can't program it. It's a complex emergent system, like the weather.
You can't program the economy, but you can absolutely program the properties of the money that flows through the economy.

Hey Peter. You look a bit sick, mate. Take care of yourself. Hope everything is fine. All the best!
Singapore is beautiful.
I totally respect Peter! I'm here to test it: Cardano is everything Bitcoin wishes it was 😅
Tell Peter to do carnivore for more than a few days - at least 2 weeks, ideally a month. I guarantee he won’t feel “bloated” at that point.
Taleb is paid to speak at tradfi events. He’s not going to bite the hand that feeds him. He’s also at the end of his career and keen to sustain the status quo

I wonder how many women would love to breed with Mr. Breedlove.
Big cities such in my opinion
This guy is the Bollywood balaji.

The Archetypal Chad dropping bombs!
Someone needs to redpill McCormack on the Royal family.
I think a lot of money for the Royals comes from the Duchy of Lancaster.
Can someone please make a meme of the hat
Monarchy is much much cheaper than the government
:D Don't forget about encrypted crypto like Monero too!
legitimately curious, why did he make that comment about cardano? i generally consider myself pretty orangepilled and no longer buy alts after learning more about crypto in general, but i do think other chains will be needed to enable the new online experiences of the future. so im wondering why is cardano bad?
# 125 🎉🎉
hopefully i don't need a timecode for when he stops talking about his soccer team... here we go.
"the Royal Family don't really have any power" lol what?
Shame he was a scammer a few years ago, seems to be forgotten. I also cannot help but fall asleep listening to Rob unfortunately.
This was way too much chit chat about podcasting and not enough getting into Roberts mind about bitcoin philosophy and economics
Claimed
Is he saying Huawei?
Robert is completely clueless on politics on both sides on the pond.
Debate over who’s more white
120 IQ meets 140 IQ. But who is Richer? 🙂
BitClout Breedlove
Move on, man. People are allowed to make mistakes (or viewed as making a mistake). Robert had proven himself time and time again to be an overall asset and ally in the space.
It’s all a big scam
good
