This summer i think it will be the 42nd summer on Gotland in 44 years. But who is counting? 😉 1986 i did my conscript on Gotland. (P18). And as usual i be spending my time in my summer house. Hope to move there when i retire.
Looks like you still got to see a little bit of Gotland outside of Visby. The number of stunning beaches with silvery white sand is just incredible, especially up North in Fårö. And I bet the kids will love Kutens Bensin with it's old rusting cars, and its créperie. 😋 At least when they aren't ill. You might also want to consider a trip to Stora Karlsö, the second oldest national park in the world after Yellowstone, though that might not be that child-friendly. A stunning little island it is anyway.
Visby had 2 mayors during the Hanseatic League. A German and a Gotlandian. The cathedral was originally the church of the Germans. There were 13 churches inside the city wall.
Hello! Many beautiful views and nature pictures! But please don't call it Goatland! If you pronounce it as Gottland with a very short (o), it will be more correct pronunciation😘!
Thank you for revealing how it is living in Sweden! I have been to Gotland, the ferry experiance was as bad as in any ferrys.. whataf*ck did you think? In anyway.. I did bring my car and my old mother, it become a dual problem, my mother didnt want to walk that much, but we did travel to many "sightseing places"! Kinda typical "Swedish" problem or if one have kids!
Thanks for sharing! We didn't have a bad ferry experience 😅 My little daughter got sick from kindergarten, a nasty stomach bug. The ferry was pretty nice actually 😉
It depends. Cities are more expensive in general. There are very affordable houses up in the North of Sweden, for example. Definitely cheaper than England in that matter.
Tips to avoid stomach ailments and colds. Make minced meat sauce, for example, with a lot of pressed garlic in 7-8 cloves. This means that you don't get an upset stomach or catch a cold and keep mosquitoes away. I often made minced meat sauce with a lot of garlic in it, none of my children or my partner got sick or bitten by mosquitoes. Regarding visiting Gotland. Do it either before the high season starts or after the high season is over, partly there are a lot of people with kitchens everywhere and congestion and it's not fun when you have small children. And during high season, everything becomes 3 times as expensive in the whole of Gotland. I got this tip about visiting Gottalnd from my aunt who has lived there and an acquaintance of mine. My one sister also said about this, when they visited Gotland for the first time with a caravan, she said about how expensive everything was, all these queues. She said that they were only there for a day as they were short of people and queuing everywhere, so they went to Öland instead. After that, my sister and her family visited Gotland when the high season was over. Hope all is well with you and your family.
@@LivingSwedish It was so little and if you can help with tips, you do. As for Gotland, I wanted to advise about the costs, as I think that if you can avoid paying excess prices, you should do so. Especially when there are small children in the picture.

Wrong time of year? Long beaches, sunniest place in Sweden, Pippi Longstocking just south of Visby, Medieval week with tourney....

Oh, thanks for sharing! I love learning new things :)

Ah yes, thanks for highlighting the correct pronunciation. I'm already practicing it 😅
Did you know that Germans lived in Visby as early as the 12th century? Visby was a member of the hansiatic league trade association.
Oh, I didn't know! Thanks for sharing! 😊
