Her mannerisms are distinct, and her speech has a pattern to it. This, I think, makes it easier to copy her. Case in point, after I watched her show I found myself moving my hands a lot and a tiny bit talking like her. I wasn't even trying. It was like talking to someone with a southern accent. Before you know it, you start to pronounce things differently.

This is an unfair critique, I'd rebuttal with the fact that the majority of straight actors in existence could never ever play a gay role successfully yet they're still allowed to work and are never deemed lesser actors because of it. It's a heterosexist notion to imply he must sucessfully act as a straight man to prove his abilities.

If you've seen the Netflix special with these two you would know this wAs accurate AF. Of course Kyle was OVER the top with it but that was the point. In the Netflix show I really thought Scorsese was going to have a heart attack laughing at Fran's jokes.
They did really well. But Che breaking is the lowest bar in history. He laughs at all of his lines, plus most of Colin's. IMO he's terrible on camera. Might be a great writer though idk

I watched the series and was hoping this was gonna be a Fred Armisen impression. Bowen’s cadence is perfect but the Scorcese bit was dumb. Took away from letting Bowen do his thing. Also they shoulda just let Bowen rock this solo and write more for him to do in this character.
This is so funny Bowen Yang’s impression and gestures completely capture Fran Lebowitz and Michael is perfect in his supporting role , and of course Kyle is painfully hilarious 😆

I was born when SNL began. In old baby pics of my mom and me; she's wearing Mr. Bill shirts. In other words; life long fan..because it's magic the bravery of live performance of these people and EVERY show has a couple of laughs. There are great eras and crap eras but there can be only one SNL.
