Land Rover Dormobile Camper Conversion: An overview

- This video gives a brief overview of our Land Rover Defender Dormobile camper (mainly the interior). I carried out the conversion 8 years ago starting with a brand new 110 pick-up (a cancelled export order fitted with air-con). After first converting it to a hardtop I spent about 6 months modifying the Landie to for adventure travel. Since it was completed in 2012 we have been on many trips to Africa and all over Europe. It’s a vehicle I still love and here’s what I’ve learnt…
Oh, and sorry about the typos that somehow crept into the captions!
Excellent. A perfect overlanding rig. Great design.
Thanks Geoff. It works well for us 👍
What a brilliant set up, really well thought through. Love the simplicity
Love it. Neat, practical and tidy - all that you need !
Thanks Henry! Works for us 🙂👍
Absolutely love that. Really clever well thought out set up. Thanks for sharing & happy travels
Thanks Simon 🙂👍
Outstanding conversion. Very jealous
Thank you 😁
That is an interesting take on a pop-top without the typical bed platform up top - can't say I have ever seen that configuration before. (and I've viewed a bunch for research)
That said I like my pop-top (alu-cab) with the bed up top. (no bed-making at night)
Of course - to each their own - as long as it gets you out there!
That bed setup is very nice.
Interesting and unique set-up.
I love the life you live !!! 👍🏼
This is a great set up alot of bang for your buck here.
Nice useful video
Bravo!
Very nice setup - thank you for sharing. The seats which fold-out into a bed are very good. If you could share a link to the supplier, this would be very helpful
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Seats are made by 'RIB' and supplied by Dormobile: www.dormobile.co.uk
Dormobil in Lyndhurst that's their roof as well
@@Classicworkingvehicles the link takes you to the website but I am unable to find the beds.
Nice job
Great set up!! Are you able to provide a link to were you purchase the seats?! 👍
Gracias por los subtítulos en español.
I knew I recognised it :)
Hi Dan!
@@paulhazell340 Hi Paul! Hope life is treating you kindly!
Very good video. Where did the seats come from that fold into a bed?
Did you purchase the upper bunk from Dormobile Inc?
We have a 110 and purchased our camper top in kit form from Dormobile in UK.
Thanks Robert. The seats are made by RIB but supplied by Dormobile, as was the bunk.
Great video and really well thought out set up. I wonder if you could share details about the storage units which I think you said were fabricated by mobile storage systems. Have you gone for a conventional split charge arrangement or something different?
Best wishes Simon
Hi Simon and thanks. Yes pretty straightforward battery system using a split charge relay with all the 'gubbins' fitting under the passenger seat (it's tight). The units were made by Mobile Storage Systems to my drawings/dimensions so were not their standard units (although they were but based on them). They were very helpful in meeting the spec I wanted. www.mobilestoragesystems.net.
Three questions:
What is the width of your kitchen platform?
I understand that the width of your bed is 100 mm … can you both get accommodate in 100 mm?
What is the internal width of your vehicle?
Hi love the seat, it's not listed on Dormobile, I know it's a RIB seat, is there anywhere else that supply it as when I google it only VW comes up. Thanks
Hi where did you get that bed from and how much did it cost many thanks
Subtitulos en español. Gracias
of all places in this world you think it's only in africa people get robbed or bad things can happen?...
No I certainly don't, I've met many wonderful people in Africa. Sorry if I've offended you in some way?
