As a Medic, that’s absolutely as close to “fixin’ to die” as a human being can get. Extreme respect for Hinch. It took a real man to not only survive, but then fight back from that. 👏🏼👍🏼

Hopefully that kind of impact will now be survivable!

James Hinchcliffe is a confirmed badass, and is, without a doubt, my favorite Indy car driver now. Not that I follow it as much as I used to, but this guy has piqued my interest in this series again. Hell yes!
@@xSoccerxCorex Another thing I read about it was that he was lucky that this accident happened on a practice day when there was little traffic in the streets, and it took only a few minutes to get to the hospital. If this had happened on race day with all the traffic around the track, Hinch probably would have died with them trying to get to the hospital.
Just watched the crash video.... Dayyumm!!! That was nasty!!! Just think how bad it would have been in they didn’t have the safer wall barriers in place!!!! Glad he is ok 👌 that was insane!!!
I was in the suites on the outside of Turn 2 out and saw Marcelo's crash in 1992. He was coming out of Turn 1 and the car ended up against the outside wall going into Turn 2. The SAFER barriers were not invented and approved yet and the same for the HANS device. I don't know if Marcelo had any penetration of the cockpit from racecar parts or not, but that was a sad event to see live and in person. Even with Hinch's crash a few years ago, racing is getting safer all the time.
This is painful to watch & listen to. It's almost like watching those fail videos where people get hit in the guts or something, you can somewhat imagine or even almost "feel" the pain although you aren't experiencing it. I wouldn't wish something like what happened to Hinch in 2015 to anybody. How he survived is unbelievable. Funny how he wanted that suspension piece though, I'm pretty sure if he had gotten it he probably would have it hanging as a reminder of that day or something. Definitely a feel-good story when thinking about the timeline of events that occurred between the accident and the return to the track.
