Thank you for a very well done film, i too had the pleasure of working with Joey and Ernie as an auxillary nurse. He was so smiley and had the most beautiful happy light in his eyes , he never left my heart
i remember him being on blue peter as a child. What horrid places they were sent to back then. We had a similar home near where i lived. Don't judge a book by its cover. Joey was exceptional and not backward at all despite his appearance. An inspiration
Thankyou for uploading this. I worked at St Lawrence's as a Nursing Assistant and occasionally got assigned to MC1 where Joey lived. He was a lovely person. Each ward had its own culture and MC1 was not too bad. Much better are the small houses in the community and personalised care people with learning difficulties and disabilities hopefully get now. But as we saw on Panorama 2 days ago there are still bad thinngs happening. Joey would have been 99 today. This was such a good film, thank you so much for uploading it for us, its such a good account of his life and all he went through, looks like Joey had such nice parents, and family who really loved him very much, its nice to hear his story, often sad that he encountered people who just didn't understand, I'm so glad he had a wonderful friend like Ernie, he must have felt like an angel to him
Blimey Jim Branning was in this! 😮 Anwyay great film about joeys life I'm glad he had a friend in Ernie what a pair them two turned out to be. Who played Joey in this? Cant find anything on Google about this program.

Really brilliant film I’m so pleased I could watch it again after 40 years
Great portrayal and acting. Tony Robinson playing Earnie.
He should have won an Oscar for that 🙌👏.
It's an amazing story of strength and courage but really was made famous on the playground

Christopher Molesworth, John Prasher, then Joey himself
Bloody hell… It’s Baldrick playing Ernie 😂😂😂😂
As kids in the early 80s having been introduced to Joey on Blue Peter we were awful. The poor guy, I'm ashamed....
What an amazing story . I'll never " Do the Deacon " again .
@ugur asik Clearly you've never matured!
Let’s have a cup of tea 😂😂😂😂
