Returns from a break and hits us with the longest audio she's made. It's good to see ya once more, Velvet. Hope you were able to unwind during the past few months.
@@JesusJuarezGutierrez I was curious, so I had to go check! Turns out this is the longest single narrative video I've produced (104 minutes?) though you're right there are compilations that are longer--and one series I did clocks in at 130+ minutes, spread across a few videos. So, technically, you're both correct! This is the longest single story audio I've made, but not the longest video or narrative. (And it's a little outrageous to look at those numbers in one place, tbh! 😵💫)
This is the most vivid and captivating allegory of drug addiction I have ever heard in my life, from start to finish. You've truly outdone yourself, Vel!
Aw, thank you! (If you haven't, definitely view The Shining and/or Misery with "addiction allegory" goggles on. It's impossible to unsee once you make the connection.)
@@VanillaVelvetAudio Look at the men you gathered; men of honor, the finest in the realm. Men like that do not bow to a mere duchess. Greatness is not a choice. You may not want the crown, but these men are here to bend the knee to their queen ... your Majesty. Seriously, good to have you back. Hope the summer break was everything you wanted it to be!
(me, thinking about all the times I've horrendously failed at securing a military victory in a Civ game.) ...maybe it's best if I don't have a loyal army at my disposal. ^^; And thank you! It was a nice little break, but I'm definitely ready to get back to work.
Oh boy, you just have a mission on making people like snakes, don't you? I understand her reason for falling in love and can't fault her for that, but I would have been way more stubborn and aggressive if I was taken captive. Plus, she is a bit sadistic isn't she? I also find it conflicting that she says she loves the listener and then refers to him as a pet. She may love him, but not as an equal or a lover. 9/10 Audio. Great story and lore. And welcome back from vacation.
Too true! But I think that's more an element of the yandere archetype than unique to this character, if that makes sense? Possessiveness, wanting to wholly own a person the way a yandere does, means they're never fully your equal. Idealizing someone to such an extreme degree also dehumanizes them, because it doesn't let them be complex people with foibles. And, of course, ignoring someone's desires just because you want them to be with you isn't exactly respectful, either. All of those are kind of built-in to yandere love, and in each instance, it's treating a romantic interest like an object, which is kind of fundamentally selfish. Don't get me wrong, the fantasy is a lot of fun! I think everyone wishes they had someone who wants them so intensely sometimes. But if you try to apply real world relationship dynamics to the trope...yeah, it quickly becomes a yikes.
This sounds like a very detailed story given all the tags which I am all for right off the bat. But then we have a Yandere lamia whose love is this combination of wholesome and crazy? Sign me up ^_^
my theory is that she went to an evil rulers convention and accidentally swapped evil plan folders with a dracula or something, because otherwise it seems very odd for a snake lady to want rid of the sun forever. we're gonna get a yandere vampire audio in the future where the vampire tells the listener her plan to create eternal daytime, then stops and gets kind of confused and annoyed because that sounds like the sort of plan a lamia would come up with
You'd think so! It does seem weird for a cold blooded creature to be anti-sun. But this particular variety of lamia is, afaik, inspired by Apophis, the snake god of darkness whose greatest enemy in Ancient Egyptian mythology was the god of the sun. But I do love the idea of an evil plan mix-up. ^^
Hey, thank you so much! I had a lovely vacation, all things considered. It's nice to be refreshed! I hope you enjoy the audio! I enjoyed performing this series a lot. ^^

I’m a long time listener but recent subscriber, and though I wasn’t aware you’d taken a break (life be lifing sometimes) I’m glad to read in the comments that you got what you needed out of it! Your audios are what make long car rides to see family pleasant. I have questions about audio RP, and I can’t think of anyone better to ask, but I also don’t want to be a bother. Is it ok if I ask you?
@@VanillaVelvetAudio Sorry for taking so long to reply, but thanks for being so open! First, what kind of setup are you working with? (Audio software, microphones, etc.) Second, how do you practice and develop your different voices, and how do you keep your voice in good condition? Third, what is your process for making sure an audio (or part of it) is good enough to make into a video? Fourth, what made you pick this niche over any other voice acting niche? What do you get out of it? Fifth, where do you find scripts and how do you choose the ones you'll work with? Sixth, to be blunt, is there any point trying to get into this as a dude? From what I can tell, this niche is dominated by women and F4M audios, so what would I even be able to do?
Oh, good! Okay, so a bunch of the technical stuff is covered in my FAQ; this will be long enough without those so please have a look over there! www.reddit.com/user/vanillavelvetaudio/comments/1b8fnqx/vanilla_velvet_audio_faq_2024_update/ Side notes on that: When I started, I built a small desktop isolation box to cut down on reverb and background noise (something like this: ua-cam.com/video/TOcG7Fnu6Ik/v-deo.html ) but now my space is treated (almost) entirely. While your mic matters for how much depth of sound you get from your voice, I promise you sound treatment matters more. A cheap mic in a well treated space is better than an expensive mic in a bad space. *Voice + Technique:* I don't have a satisfying answer for this. I don't practice that much, I've just always had an ear for accents and done silly voices since I was a small child. I also sang (a LOT!) growing up, so I've always spoken from the diaphragm just by force of habit and had decent breath control. When I started my channel I was a bit out of practice with those things, but I'm getting back into it. That said, I HAVE bought a few vintage dialect books to help smooth out some stuff, but I don't use them as much as I should. (Speak With Distinction: The Classic Skinner Method was used in Old Hollywood. That's a solid starter volume! I suggest looking for a cheap copy on Better World Books; they have great prices and they donate a book for every one you buy.) *What is your process for making sure an audio (or part of it) is good enough to make into a video?* Depends on a few factors. Ideally, I want a take on a line that has minimal mouth sounds (you'll learn to identify them when performing pretty quickly) and no big gaspy bits or heavy exhalations at the end of a word. Sometimes that isn't possible and all the takes are a bit crap, or I'm running low on time, so some weaker takes make it in. Learning to let go of perfectionism is important _she says through gritted teeth_ Whether something makes it into a video or not on less technical qualifications comes down to the pacing and tone I want for a storyline, so it can vary quite a bit. If you haven't studied film widely, do! It'll teach you how to make deliberate choices with pace for dramatic effect. That's how I learned! *What made you pick this niche over any other voice acting niche? What do you get out of it?* I thought it'd be fun! And I like fun. It's fairly low pressure, there's a low barrier for entry, a high ceiling for success, you can experiment a lot with performance and sound design learning as you go without shelling out $$$ for voice acting classes/coaches/equipment, I have a high degree of control over my creative output, it scratches my film nerd/writer/performer itches, as a writer I think catharsis through fiction is incredibly valuable and I'm happy to be part of that...and of course, once I got monetized, getting a bit of money out of it doesn't hurt! *...to be blunt, is there any point trying to get into this as a dude?* There are tons of M4A/M4F/M4M channels out there! Some more successful than others, of course. Heck, some of the scripts I've performed were actually written specifically for male speakers, but I've been allowed to flip them! There are writers out there for that. (M4M actually seems like a VERY hungry niche; there isn't much out there, so if that's your thing, you could carve out a pretty solid spot there!) I'm sorry that I can't answer beyond that. It's one of those "look inside yourself" kinda deals. If it's worth it depends on what you want out of it, how much you want to put into it, what success looks like to you, whether the experience would be valuable to you, etc. How much money would you consider to be enough incentive to have a channel? 5k a year? You can probably make that. 10k? Attainable, but a bit more difficult. 20k? Tough, but not impossible. 50k? Maybe, if you work really hard, keep your expenses super low, and you're very, VERY lucky! And even if you never get to be a huge channel making bank, this can teach you a lot of hands-on VA skills that translate to any other sound/VA stuff you might want to do in other realms. If it sounds appealing as a hobby, I encourage you to try it! If you hate it, you don't have to keep doing it. If you like it, you don't have to monetize it. If you monetize it, it doesn't have to be more than a side gig. Now, all that said: there's an element of luck involved in finding success in this space, but luck + grit will take you farther than luck alone; you gotta make the best shit you can possibly make, keep evolving, stay consistent with a schedule, and most importantly, not give up. If you're flexible, able to think on your feet, and not get discouraged, you can make it.

Well that was a nightmare... I just stumbled in to this by accident and I'd admit that it's amazingly written and fantastic voice work but I don't get why so many people liked this? It's fairly low pressure, there's a low barrier for entry, a high ceiling for success, you can experiment a lot with performance and sound design learning as you go without shelling out $$$ for voice acting classes/coaches/equipment, I have a high degree of control over my creative output, it scratches my film nerd/writer/performer itches, as a writer I think catharsis through fiction is incredibly valuable and I'm happy to be part of that...and of course, once I got monetized, getting a bit of money out of it doesn't hurt!
*...to be blunt, is there any point trying to get into this as a dude?*
There are tons of M4A/M4F/M4M channels out there! Some more successful than others, of course. Heck, some of the scripts I've performed were actually written specifically for male speakers, but I've been allowed to flip them! There are writers out there for that. (M4M actually seems like a VERY hungry niche; there isn't much out there, so if that's your thing, you could carve out a pretty solid spot there!)
I'm sorry that I can't answer beyond that.
This is where the fun begins 😄
Is the dark side stronger?
No, no, no. Quicker, easier, more seductive... 🐍
@VanillaVelvetAudio TRUE 👍

As a Warrior of the sunlight, a follower in Solaire's footsteps, a "Sun bro", this union is doomed to fail
Welcome back Vanilla, we all missed you!
B-bu-but opposites attract! That's how it works, right?! (ᅲ﹏ᅲ)
And thank you! It's so nice to be back, but even nicer to have been missed! 🥰
Snek girls give the best hugs
Definitely!
always so scalefully made ;D hehe
HA. 🐍 Always.
This audio has me rattling in my sheets and my mind goes a slithering away
Hissterical!
Hail to the queen
Ooh, with a tagline like that, I hope I get a chainsaw hand...
Snake in the Pyramid = Yandere Lamia Queen
Got it in one! ^^
@@VanillaVelvetAudioI knew it, I’m good with puzzles, by the way welcome back, I missed you 😊
Love your content
I'm so happy to hear that! I hope you enjoyed this audio. 💖
Wow she has a rattle too? That's cool.
I like to imagine that the listener is also a lamia (or at least, was transformed into a lamia)
Oh I like that. That’s a fun idea!
Every time she asked what she had to do, my brain activated Panic at the Disco mode and went, "If you love me, LET ME GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"
(releasesenpai.exe file not found)
Dang it computer. Work!!! Now is not the time to do this!!!!
Its been a while listening to your new videos😊
Hope you enjoyed it!
PRAISE THE MOON!!
My toxic trait is thinking i could reasonably get out of this situation.
Coming back with a strong one!
After such a long time away, I had to make an entrance!
WE ARE SO BACK!
🙌
I love it :D
I'm glad!
Thank You
To quote a familiar snake.
"Sss-saaaay now... what have we here?"
You can definitely trust in her...eventually. 🐍
@@VanillaVelvetAudio Well, your characters are adorable loveable. So… yeah, I probably could!
“What about the psych-“
I said the characters are loveable!
what the fuck? You spent some time away just to come back and drop a nuke on us like loose change on the counter. Way to make my night VV we love you!!!!!!
Gotta keep you on your toes! ^^
Pssst could you add this to the omega big alluraudio playlist thingy? And holy cow coming back swinging hard, cant wait for whats next
Sorry? I assume autocorrect is the culprit here. Which playlist?
@@VanillaVelvetAudio nah ur all good it's already in the massive all your vids playlist now, I think it wasn't when I sent that
God help us all if Vel starts doing spicier audios. She'll be unstoppable. Lmao
THE ONLY THING THAT CAN STOP ME IS...platform guidelines. ^^; Alas!
@@VanillaVelvetAudio 🤣 in the words of Metallica "Sad but true."
In all seriousness, never change I love your work as it is. :)
So when's the sequel where we hear the listener suffering from lack of Vitamin D since the sun was taken away. Anyways great audio.
That sequel would just be the sound of Listener walking around, bumping into stuff and gradually snapping every bone in their body because they’re all brittle now.
And thank you!
Me wanting to give up on lamia queen cause she kidnapped me
Lamia queen : gives me endless love and kisses.
Me : never back down never what
By Grabthar's hammer, what a savings!
...wait, wrong reference.
I can not wait for the scientist one. I hope my boys alive😭😔
Well, I think it'd be a pretty quiet audio if Listener were dead in that series!
@@VanillaVelvetAudio that would be hilarious ngl. Like it’s just them dragging around the listener’s body trying to figure out how to revive them without the smart part of themselves😭
Wow I never thought I’d like snake girls. Consider me changed
I'm glad to hear that! I consider that a win!
Cow boy up lads
I feel like there’s a “There’s a snake in my boot!” joke waiting to be made in here somewhere...
Certainly was partner
I wonder how she'll feel when the listener starts suffering from vitamin D deficiency without the sun
There's about to be a run on vitamin D supplements at the local health food store...
The fact that this script actually gave me an idea for one of my own fantasy races and their leader (obviously lamias)
Craaaazzzy ik
Nice! Always lovely when a story inspires someone!
I have a feeling some of the snake noises was bacon sizzling on a pan 😂
ahaha I can kinda hear that! Most of the snake sounds were a rain stick, leather glove twisting, and (I think) an actual rattle snake rattle. ^^
Well that was a nightmare...
I just stumbled in to this by accident and I'd admit that it's amazingly written and fantastic voice work but I don't get why so many people liked this? For me it was just anxiety inducing listening to the Lamia torturing the guy and then not getting any payback in the end, I just genuinely feel bad after listening to this. So I'm not judging anyone for liking this at all, I just want to understand why people like listen to this kind of stuff?
Am i supposed to no fall in love with this woman nice to have you back vanilla
It's nice to be back! Thank you for being here to welcome me!
This is peak
I'm glad you think so!
