Imposed Honor Rules and all Tricks/Glitches/Exploits/Mechanics not used in this run: 1. Maxis made vehicles only, 2. No vehicle switching, 3. No using economic vehicles from tribes, 4. No Super Weapons, 5. No Communication Bypass, 6. No Negative Money, 7. No moving tanks across ocean, 8. No exceeding city building limit, 9. No free building in city planner, 10. Let me know what you thought of this “No Glitches” style of challenge and check out how to perform these glitches here: ua-cam.com/video/UZe2aEGA5xE/v-deo.html
No glitches format is definitely more relatable. Especially considering the game is meant to be played without them and the difficulty makes it more interesting.
Same, I think of the game every couple years the same way. I still have the original box from the physical release. I may dust it off again (probably the steam version tho)
This video really highlights how broken the Civ stage is. Even though I personally enjoyed it, you can't deny it's a bit odd when the most peaceful route up until this point becomes just a differently balanced version of the "kill everything" route, and the neutral route becomes the peaceful one and is quickly swallowed up by the two flavors of conquest because his tanks are incapable of fighting anything. Probably why I never wanted to go down the green and blue paths, red is the most consistent and feels the most natural especially on hard difficulty where everything wants to fight you, so only taking a few allies won't even get you close to blue. Just about every single time, it came down to me as military fighting against a religious civ that seemed hardcoded to become my ideological opposite and main rival. (Herbivores are tired of being pushed around?) After taking him out, there'd usually be a couple military states that became simps for me who would surrender without violence and move me on to space. I never even got to take the lone economic city just to gain the ability to form trade routes, it would always get grabbed while I was still squabbling over spices with my neighbor. That all being said, I still think it's a fun 30 minute long minigame. If I want something complex that I can play for a straight week, I'll play Civ V.
Ah, this is pretty similar to how I usually play Civ stage when going for the best space stage consequence traits (except I start as Religious). Can get pretty hairy! But military might be harder because of the relationship penalty.
You know it might be fun to see a speedrun of the 'Bad Decision Circus', with what I imagine is the hardest speedrun for each stage: Blue out of Cell, Green out of Creature, Red out of Tribal, and Blue out of Civ.
great run as always! civilization stage is honestly so sooo fun! the no glitches style seems good, I would love to see variety in styles because you show some mindblowing glitches as well
Thank you as always for the subtitles! They help so immensely in following along especially when I’m too overstimulated to catch audio. Your videos are fun and engaging and also very calming, I hope your channel only continues to grow and that you are doing well!
Thank you! :D These are the comments that keep me wanting to put in the extra effort in like adding the subtitles! I'm glad they're getting good use! Thankfully they're not too hard to do since I'll take and edit the auto-generated one. They're usually pretty good already, but with no punctuation. I wish this was done more across UA-cam.
It ls weird how unreasonably difficult it is to swtich to economic. Feels like 4 times out of 5 it spawns on a different landmass and is immediately destroyed by the ai.
i rebought Spore on July 15th of this year on steam.....my childhood was fun lol this was my childhood in a nutshell i always did all blue for the traits loved economic because you can buy empires out if you dont like them
I recently got back into Spore, and your videos are my favorite to watch while I play. I even got a couple of my friends into it, and I tell them about how much I learned from you. Love your content!
I would love to see more no glitches/no exploits runs! I have never beaten spore on hard difficulty, I struggle in the Tribal and Civ stages, though I think I've only ever attempted them as an aggressive/military people which is part of my problem, lol. I'd love to see how it can be done legitimately.
really interesting challenge! are there similar runs you could do in other stages? for example completing creature stage in another stupid arbitrary way like only progressing through packmates (not sure how you would progress to the first packmate unlock hmm..)
Challenges I've beat but would find fun to see you cover, both hard difficulty: 1. No vehicles challenge (not very fun) 2. No buildings challenge, military (very difficult and fun) Using epics to achieve objectives in civ stage by religious vehicles converting the epics is also a cool idea I would like to see explored
@@KinglyValence delete first vehicle and basically just get optimal building setup with factories and entertainment to be able to diplomatically convince the winning ai to join you when it owns the world. @@danielgrizzlus3950 You were able to ally merge only controlling 1 city? Were you on an older version of Spore? Because other nations are supposed to wait until you have 4 cities before merging. This would actually open a lot of possibilies if this is possible!
@@KinglyValence thats interesting, weird that it worked. Its possible i was on an older version, but i dont want to mislead you, cant tell for sure. Its possible some minor mods or glitches could have been the cause as well, cuz now that you mention it i remember it shouldnt have been possible
@@danielgrizzlus3950 I tried it on the oldest version as well installed from the DVD and it still required 4 cities to merge. I had 1 city with one ally that held all 9 other cities but wouldn't merge even after a while, but then got 4 cities and they merged pretty quickly. Maybe the mods affected the game in unexpected ways? But it would have been really cool if we could figure out how to make it happen with only 1 city! That could have potentially allowed for a truly pacifist run of the game, never needing to take over a city or destroy a tribe for an economic vehicle (as religious out of a pacifist tribal).
Awesome video. I would love to see you complete a challenge where you protect minor cities as military. I dont even know if its possible since your reach is limited in other continents, but trying to capture every big city as fast as possible in order to prevent a major nation from forming and then you just chill with the remaining underdogs, I dont even know how would the game react. I managed to make a military playthrough (on normal, hard would be impossible to pull this off I guess) where 2 landlocked economic cities formed on my home continent and an economic seaport spawned next to my home city. I rushed the other military big boy on my continent and built a huge navy to prevent the capture of the other eco city. I basically built a protectorate alliance and preserved the 3 economic spawns in the game, and enjoyed watching them doing their own thing with trading. Had to resort to the tug-of-war tactic and compete for the capture bar by blowing the cities I was trying to protect just to buy time while I destroy their attackers, pretty fun stuff for a simple game.
That's pretty interesting, it's great how Civilization Stage I feel has to most potential for these kinds of challenge runs! It would be cool in Civ and Space if there was like a Federation system where if I'm allied to two nations they would be allied to each other so they would attack each other. Using some glitches and tricks I wonder if I could prevent the capture of the small cities, would definitely be difficult on Hard! Would also be cool to ally merge with all 5 of them once I've captured the 5 large cities!
I really love your content, and every time I see your videos it makes me want to do another playthrough! Do you have a different UA-cam when you play different games? Nothing is the same as Spore of course, but I'd love to see your take on different games!
If the timeline change diminishes as you capture more cities, would it be possible to end as economic while capturing more cities via military? By using a tribal economic vehicle to capture 4 cities, then 5 military captures afterwards, perhaps? Or is it more complicated than that
That could work, I'm not sure exactly how many captures would bring us back into the Military range after the first Econ capture, but probably something around that. Also interesting that losing cities doesn't count towards moving the timeline so we could re-capture more cities than the normal 9 if we keep allowing our cities to be taken over haha. And when testing there seems to be a minimum amount of movement on the timeline per capture after about 10 cities or so. So we could get some wacky timelines moving all over the place getting loads of re-captures!
Incidentally, if you lose your last military city, you lose the negative relationship penalty, which kind of nullifies a lot of the challenge's difficulty. I found this out the hard way lol
Good to know! I think the final Super Weapon will also change from the ICBM to Global Merger if we lose our last Military city and only have Economic cities remaining. Could be useful if you don't want to nuke everyone to win as well!
At lot of it works the same for Religious, and other nations don't start as angry with Religious nations as Military ones so it might be easier to start. But the military airplanes are definitely easier ;)
Hey guys. I look for gameplay mods for Spore. Something that can expend Spore potential. Make each evo stage a little longer, a bit harder and most important satisfatiotional endgame. Do you guys know anything?
Does religious capture moves the timeline with the same intensity as military capture? In other words is it safe to capture 4 cities by religious means if I want a blue card?
Hello. How about completing the game without taking any damage? I just saw a video from channel Obsidian Time, and he completed Spore without taking damage with 51 or so attempts. He set up some rules: 1) on creature stage creatures from your pack can get damage 2) on tribe and civ - buildings can get damage.
That's a really interesting challenge, thanks for showing me the video! Their idea to use the invincibility while taking over the Economic city as religious was really clever! I might have to steal that or destroy a tribe for an Economic vehicle haha. That's a lot of attempts, depending how hard it is, I'll probably try it more like a segmented run where I'll make save states between Stages and revert back if I take damage but not restart entirely, but track the total time including reverts.
If we don't look at the defending city when a Religious nation is trying to capture it, the capture progress bar never appears for some reason. Looking at all the cities will "wake them up" I call it haha and be able to be captured. I go over it more in the Civ glitches video :) ua-cam.com/video/UZe2aEGA5xE/v-deo.html
